How the hell is it already the end of 2025? it seems to have only lasted a few weeks but somehow yet again there has been almost too much brilliant music to keep track of. Colin, Tracey, & Ian have somehow managed to narrow all of this down to 10 songs each and we present to you, dear listener, our longest episode yet as we discuss them at great length, taking in epic Russian drone, joyous indie pop, microtonal piano balladry, collosal post metal, underground hiphop and even zombie movie soundtracks.We've each chosen our 10 favourite songs of the year and sent them over to Colin's wife Helen, who put the playlists together and distributed them so we were each given a playlist of the 20 songs from the other two hosts, along with our own 10. But it's not just a band name or a moniker; Ethel Cain is a fictional character, a sort of alter ego that Hayden's been creating and world building around throughout her albums. The first Ethel Cain album, Preacher's Daughter, came out in 2022. It ended up blowing up, and it made Hayden the first openly trans artist with an album in the top ten on the Billboard chart. In 2025, she put out the second Ethel Cain album, called Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You.
