We come to the end of chapter 28 in Exodus but there's a few more things that need to be covered in this chapter.  One is we need to study the Ureem and Thummeem in more detail.  The reason being is there is teaching from the orthodox rabbis that turns the Ureem and Thummeem into objects that are more related to science fiction that reality.  So what did those rabbis teach?  What was it based upon?  Once we see that there teaching is their view, their opinion, not based upon fact, we see their views are more fantasy than something that we'd say is real.  A popular rabbinc view is that the Ureem and Thummeem were related to the stones on the breast piece of the High priest.  It seems possible that this comes from the rabbinic view that the Ureem for instance are lights since they said Ureem is nothing more than the plural for the Hebrew word for light.  See the pictures below. These are summaries of the two Hebrew words.  The top picture is for the word Ureem and the one below is for the Hebrew word Or.  The word Ureeem is masculine and the Hebrew word Or, meaning light, is feminine!  This is just one problem with saying that Ureem is the Hebrew word for lights or the plural of Or.  The second issue is the spelling.  The top picture sows that Ureem's first two letters are אוּ and notice the location of the "dot" or what is known as a dagesh - וּ.  The picture below shows the first two letters of the Hebrew word Or and notice the position of the dagesh אוֹ.  The dagesh is in a different location as one can see - וֹ.  The difference is the first gives the sound UR and the second gives the sound OR.  The spelling is different and the pronunciation is different.  Ureem is NOT the plural of the Hebrew word OR meaning light.  The letters are the same in both words but the dagesh, the "dot" used for specific vowel sounds is different.  It seems that the rabbis dismissed these galring differences, concluded that Ureeem was the plural of Or, and then seemed to say the stones were used as "lights" on the breastpiece.  Understanding the Hebrew shows that is likely fantasy and can not be the truth. The Ureem and Thummeem were real.  They were put in the pocket of the linen breast piece of the High Priest.  The wording implies they were physical objects.  The Torah and the words given to Moses to write down about the Ureem and Thummeem seem to contradict what the orthodox rabbis came up with.  It is part of their midrasheem (what they got from study); it is views and ideas made up by these rabbis to try and explain something that is enigmatic, something hidden, something difficult to understand and know.  I urge you to listen to the podcast I did on Rabbinic Midrasheem or the man made views and ideas the rabbis came up with that in many cases are unbiblical and not based upon reason or fact.  It was their attempt to try and make sense of those things in Torah and seemingly have no answers or are totally beyond our understanding.  Here's the link to that podcast -  https://lightofmenorah.podbean.com/e/the-gospel-according-to-moses-genesis-lesson-47-special-what-is-rabbinc-midrash/ Another issue is to discuss another rabbinic fantasy that the rabbis made up.  "There is a mystical Jewish tradition (in other words a MIDRASH or something a mna made up to explain something) that the high priest of Israel would enter the Holy of Holies in the tabernacle or temple with a rope tied to his foot. The purpose of the rope, according to the tradition, was to retrieve the high priest's body in case he died in the course of his duties within the Holy of Holies."  (See the article, "Did the high priest have a rope tied to him when he entered the Holy of Holies?" found at the Bible study website www.GotQuestions.org or https://www.gotquestions.org/high-priest-rope.html) This is totally false and it is something that the rabbis made up and has stuck with us ever since.  We need to see that this "tradition" is antibiblical and refutes THE VERY WORDS OF GOD as to how the High Priest is to dress when he enters the Holy of Holies once per year on Yom Kippur.  I found it amazing as to how many Christians believe this to be true.  It is clear that most Christians are poorly trained in the Bible.  It is even taught in the Creation and Earth History Museum just outside of San Diego.  The false tradition is portrayed as true and in their description they even go against the Bible and God's word and instruction.   Here's an awesome scholary article on this issue that I believe will only add to your study - "That Rope around the High Priest's Ankle," by Todd Bolen at this link https://www.bibleplaces.com/blog/2009/01/that-rope-around-high-priests-ankle/ Rev. Ferret - who is this guy?  (Ferret - on the Pergamum acropolis in Turkey) What's his background?  Why should I listen to him?  Check his background at this link - https://www.dropbox.com/s/ortnret3oxcicu4/BackgrndTeacher%20mar%2025%202020.pdf?dl=0

2/22/2026 Revelation 21:1-27 and 22:1-6 The New Jerusalem… Intro: There are many questions about the New Jerusalem of which we don't have many answers but the basics. It's size, It's shape and it's inhabitants. We know the bride of Christ will be there. We think that eventually includes the OT saints and the Tribulation saints. It is described as a bride adorned for her husband and the church is the only bride of Christ. Are the OT saints the church?….Not technically but they will be in heaven with the church…during the Marriage supper of the Lamb……. they are friends of the bridegroom. John 3:29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. Are the Tribulation saints the bride? Not likely because most likely the marriage supper of the Lamb occurs in heaven during the tribulation. Be we will look at what we know and use Biblical speculation on what we don't know. Eventually all redeemed with be together or at least be able to fellowship with each other. Got Questions.org--The New Jerusalem, which is also called the tabernacle of God, the Holy City, the city of God, the Celestial City, the city foursquare, and heavenly Jerusalem, is literally heaven on earth. It is referred to in the Bible in several places. Galatians 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all; Hebrews 11:10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. Hebrews 12:22–23 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect; and Hebrews 13:14 For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. It is most fully described in Revelation 21 and 22. Some scholars believe that the new Jerusalem will descend from heaven and hover over the Millennial Kingdom as a satellite city of the glorified church during Christ's thousand-year reign. Scripture offers no evidence for this position. Some believe including me…..that the new Jerusalem is presented in Revelation chapter 21 and 22 is as it will be in the eternal state, not in the Millennial Kingdom. So Paul tells us that the Jerusalem is above. Galatians 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. So right now there is a city of Jerusalem in heaven and that's where it will be during the tribulation when it come down OUT of heaven. Revelation 21:1 which we will see shortly. In Revelation 21, the recorded history of man is at its end. All the ages have come and gone. Christ has gathered His church in the Rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:15–17). The tribulation has passed (Revelation 6—18). The battle of Armageddon has been fought and won by our Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 19:17–21). Satan has been chained for the 1,000-year reign of Christ on earth (Revelation 20:1–3). A new, glorious temple has been established in Jerusalem (Ezekiel 40—48). The final rebellion against God has been quashed, and Satan has received his just punishment, an eternity in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:7–10.) The great white throne judgment has taken place, and mankind has been judged (Revelation 20:11–15). In Revelation 21:1 God does a complete make-over of heaven and earth (Isaiah 65:17; 2 Peter 3:12–13). The new heaven and new earth are what some call the eternal state and will be “where righteousness dwells.” 2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Who are the residents of the New Jerusalem? The Father and the Lamb are there (Revelation 21:22). Angels are at the gates (verse 12). We know the city will be filled with the bride, the Lambs wife. Revelation 21:9 let me show the bride, the Lambs wife.…His church, God's redeemed children. The New Jerusalem is the righteous counter to the evil Babylon (Revelation 17), destroyed by God's judgment (Revelation 18). The wicked had their city, and God has His.

What Are We Becoming?

Soulcruzer

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 8, 2026 41:57

This one started with me sitting down in the studio and noticing a pattern that's been floating around the last couple of days. Everywhere I turn, people are talking about where we're going as human beings, what we're becoming, and how all this change is messing with our sense of place. AI is in the background of that conversation, obviously, but this episode isn't me doing an “AI episode” as such. It's more me circling the deeper question behind the noise.Over the past 48 hours I've been listening to and watching a bunch of stuff, and it's all orbiting the same gravitational pull. Humans feel displaced. Not just “the job market is weird” displaced, but identity displaced. Like: if the world changes this fast, what happens to the version of me that was built for the old world? This all hit extra hard because I've been recovering from a tooth that's been giving me grief for a year. It got infected again, they finally pulled it, and last night I was in that familiar post-dentist zone where the numbness wears off and the universe feels personally offensive. I was curled up on the couch, cycling between old Game of Thrones episodes and YouTube. That's when I landed on Sinead Bovell's show (on YouTube, even though we call everything a podcast now). The show is called I've Got Questions, and she had an episode featuring Alexander Manu titled something like “Once in a Lifetime Career Reset is Coming.” That title alone just grabs you by the collar. Because that's the vibe, isn't it? A mass career and identity reset. Not gradual. Not polite. A reset. And it brought me back to the question I've had from the start: What are we becoming? We can't stay the same. So what's the next iteration? One of the things I've been chewing on is how most people's first move with AI has been to retrofit it into the current paradigm. Same game, faster tools. Write quicker. Create quicker. Code quicker. Spreadsheet quicker. Become “10x productive,” “100x productive,” whatever. And I'm finding myself more and more allergic to that productivity obsession. Because why are we racing? Do we actually want to do more and more, or do we want to live better?I noticed something about my own choices here too. My day job includes corporate training. The obvious play would be to jump on the trend and become “the AI guy,” training companies how to use AI. But I deliberately didn't go that route. I wanted to be a practitioner. I wanted to push into the frontier and ask: not “how do I do the old thing faster?” but “what's the new thing that wasn't possible before?”I used painting as a metaphor for this, because we've seen this cycle a thousand times. People painted on cave walls, then on canvas. Then the camera came along and painters freaked out. “That's not art.” Then photography becomes its own art form, because real artists don't just defend old tools. They explore new ones and invent new forms. That's where I think we are now. There's resistance because people are having an existential crisis about identity, livelihood, meaning, and the role of humans. But there's also that other camp: the folks who see a new tool and think, “Okay… what can we make now that we couldn't make before?”One of Manu's points that really landed for me is that these tools could create the space for us to be more human, not less. If machines can handle repeatable, mundane stuff better, that should free us to focus on the parts of life that require presence, depth, relationship, contemplation. The being, not just the doing. That line hit me right where I live. From there, my brain hopped tracks into Robert Anton Wilson territory, because I've just started reading Chapel Perilous, the biography of RAW. And it's lighting my mind up. Reading about his thought processes reminds me what excites me most: consciousness, reality, philosophy of mind, and the question of what humans even are. That's what led me into this weird but wonderful blend I started playing with: Buddhism and anarchism. RAW had both currents running through him, and I found myself asking: how can those two coexist? Here's what clicked for me. Buddhism, at least in one of its core teachings, points at non-self (anatta). No independent permanent self. The “I” we cling to is more like a process, a pattern, a swirl of causes and conditions. Meanwhile anarchism, at its philosophical core, questions fixed rulers and permanent authority. No fixed ruler. No default assumption that someone must be in charge. So one becomes an inner liberation practice, the other becomes an outer liberation practice. Inner freedom from attachment to the constructed self. Outer freedom from attachment to constructed authority. Same song in two octaves. And then I went off, as I do, on the conditioning theme. Because this is the part that keeps bothering me in the best way. I was walking through town yesterday paying attention to my own reactions as I moved through the world, and I kept thinking: how much of my day-to-day behaviour is just conditioning? Automatic reactions. Scripted responses. Learned reflexes. Not conscious choice.Try this: pick any belief you hold and trace it back. Where did it come from? Family? School? Culture? Religion? Government? Trauma? A moment you never questioned? We're “programmed” from the start, and most of it we never opted into. And the self we think is “me” is often a patchwork of inherited code. Then you flip it outward again to politics, law, power. Left, right, centre, everybody's got an agenda. And the law often seems to apply differently depending on how much power you have. That's the thing that makes me itch. I don't trust big systems that claim they're acting in your best interest while quietly feeding a power structure.I'll say this clearly: I stop short of the “burn it all down” impulse. My instinct is more “reduce it to the bare minimum.” Voluntary cooperation. Mutual aid. Less coercion. More sovereignty. That word became the real anchor of the episode: sovereignty.Because here's the tricky part of this sci-fi world we're living in. We're already soft cyborgs. Look at how entwined we are with phones, watches, laptops, earbuds, glasses. Put them all in a drawer and turn them off and most of us can't really function in the modern world the same way. I even talk about my “metaglasses” as this extension of perception, a way to connect to the hive mind, the collective intelligence, whatever you want to call it. And with AR coming, that overlay of digital on physical is going to make the cyborgness even more literal. You'll be walking down the street in two worlds at once.I actually like being a soft cyborg. I'm not anti-tech. I'm not anti-AI. I'm pro-consciousness.Because the danger, or at least the risk, is that conditioning becomes exponential. Influence becomes subtle. Systems compete for your attention, your beliefs, your emotions, your identity. Governments, advertisers, religions, corporations, platforms. Everybody wants a piece of your psyche. They want to shape what you think, what you fear, what you desire, what you believe is true.So my challenge, to myself and anyone listening, is: don't abdicate your humanity. Don't abdicate your sovereignty. Think for yourself. Question things. Ask what the hidden agenda is. Ask who ...

What happens when your identity feels shaky—when approval, comparison, insecurity, or success starts to define who you are? In this episode, Candace sits down with Madi for a meaningful conversation about identity and the question at the center of so many struggles: What is most true about who you are?   Madi shares the story behind UNITE, the student movement that began with her mom's heartbreak over what college students were carrying in silence, and her decision to pray, walk the Auburn campus, and trust God with what felt impossible. What started as a simple act of obedience became an “only God” story: thousands gathering, spontaneous baptisms, and a ripple effect that spread to campuses hungry for hope. From there, the conversation turns deeply personal and practical. Candace and Madi respond to Jessie's listener question about staying polite when your social battery is drained, offering a reframing of boundaries as kindness: honesty, clarity, and love. Madi shares a startling story from the first night of her marriage: a scammer stole some credit card info… yikes!  Together, they unpack what it actually means to “find your identity in Christ,” starting in Genesis with the image of God, and using a memorable analogy: the moon doesn't create light, it reflects it. They also talk candidly about how easy it is to root identity in work, validation, and recognition. Candace shares a defining moment from her early adulthood that revealed how much worth she had unknowingly attached to being “somebody,” and how discovering herself as a child of God changed everything, including how she approached acting, platform, and success. This episode closes with a listener question from Christina, who shares deep insecurity and self-loathing about the way she looks. Candace responds with compassion and scripture, reminding her that feelings may be real, but that God's truth is steady. If you've ever wondered who you are beneath the roles you play, or felt pulled into people-pleasing, comparison, or shame, this episode is a grounding reminder: identity rooted in Jesus is unshakable.  For more encouragement, grab the free Dare To Be True guide at candace.com, where you'll also find a link to Madi's book, Dare To Be True. This week I'm uncovering a lost city that was left out of my lost cities two parter (episodes 131 and 132). Nineveh, the capital of the ancient Assyrian Empire, is mentioned in the Bible no less than 19 times. But, for millennia we weren't sure if it was a fictional setting or a real place. All of that changed in the 1840s when British explorer Austen Henry Layard discovered the ruins of a vast metropolis on the banks of the Tigris River that could only be Nineveh. Within those ruins he found a palace and within that palace a library, the Library of Ashurbanipal. The information held within Ashurbanipal's library told us everything we never knew about the Assyrian Empire, once the largest empire in the world. So, what did those clay tablets say? Can the lies we believe quietly shape the direction of our lives? In this episode of The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast, Candace and her co-host Madison Prewett Trout open with a listener question about dating in your mid-30s—and quickly uncover a deeper conversation about identity, honesty, and spiritual freedom. From navigating singleness without shame to recognizing the subtle lies that keep us feeling stuck, Candace and Madi explore how the enemy works—not creatively, but consistently—running the same playbook again and again. Madi shares a powerful personal story about an unseen gas leak in her home that became a metaphor for the hidden beliefs slowly draining our spiritual health. Candace reflects on seasons of feeling stuck in marriage, family life, and faith, and why honesty is often the first step toward healing. Together, they unpack the three original lies from Genesis that still surface today: questioning God's truth, minimizing sin, and believing we can find life apart from Him. This episode offers practical wisdom for identifying lies, replacing them with truth, and inviting trusted community into the process—so we can move forward in freedom. The conversation wraps with a listener question about staying spiritually grounded while training for a fitness competition, reminding us that our worth is never tied to performance, appearance, or achievement—but to who we are in Christ.
