We had a great chat about intuitively led healing journeys (and life in general). We dug into topics such as:How health issues tend to show up for Bre in her healing sessionsHow your body and intuition are always looking to guide you to the next step that is most suited for you uniquelyHow stress can hinder our ability to tap into our intuitive sensesHow health symptoms can be our body's way of signaling to us imbalances in our life/belief systemsBlocks and unconscious resistance and how they complicate things and how to approach themRepressed or held energy within the cells or body and the physical manifestationsRoot reasons why we tend to push ourselves past our physical and emotional boundaries at the expense of our healthWhat Reiki energy work is like and how it can helpHow to tap into your own intuitive guidance, starting today. This was such a fun and interesting conversation! Do you struggle with constipation? Poor digestion?Does it cause gas, bloating, discomfort, side pain and effect how you are in social situations? When I was struggling with stage 3 Adrenal Fatigue or burnout, I was only having one bowel movement a week on average. I know TMI (too much information), but it's true. That was my normal and we know that is definitely not normal. If you're struggling with poor digestion and chronic constipation you definitely want to have these 6 hacks in your arsenal so you can end constipation for good. Cheers to better poops,Angela
4 Exercises When You're Bed-Bound With Adrenal FatigueThe body needs to move to be healthy, but that's easier said than done for those who are dealing with fatigue, chronically. Even a 15-20 minute walk can be too much for many people struggling with adrenal fatigue. Movement is important not only for our physical health; for circulation, digestion, immunity, detoxification, but also for our mental and emotional health. When we exercise we produce the brain's feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins. Endorphins help relieve pain and reduce stress and symptoms of anxiety. Exercise is a great way to get out of our heads, have a brain break especially great for those prone to overthinking and anxiety. Exercise also helps us move through certain emotions and shake off the tension of the day.But for many who are in the later stages of adrenal fatigue where cortisol is flat-lined and many key hormones are low, you don't have the energy to exercise. I want to give you 3 alternative exercises so you can still move your body and start to slowly build up your strength and endurance, that will feed you with energy rather than deplete you.
As a new parent, of course, one can expect their life to change on many levels. I wanted to share a few challenges that have popped up for me in my first year as a new mom because they are challenges that remind me of both my own journey back from hormonal burnout and of many of the challenges so many of our clients here at The Adrenal Recovery Collective face daily. Even as a coach in this realm, I found myself struggling at times and forgetting about all the tools in my arsenal. I found myself getting caught up in the craziness of new motherhood completely. However, at some point, I was able to sit back, assess and see how a few certain patterns could definitely send me back down the path to burnout if I didn't step back into my power. So in this episode, I discuss:the challenge of eating + nutrition when you're tiredthe challenge of asking for helpthe challenge of creating space for me-time and joyful hobbieshealth anxiety and stressing over symptoms and health situationsI provide some tools and resources that really have supported me this first year in hopes that if you are a tired parent or struggling with burnout, adrenal fatigue, or HPA axis dysfunction in any capacity, this gives you a few practical ideas to help you feel more empowered, balanced and healthy.Let me know if you resonate with anything in this episode or if there's anything you'd add to it.Lots of love to you, xo DanielleReferenced Episode: Facing Your Fear and Taking Back Your Power (Even When It Feels Impossible): LISTEN HEREFollow me on IG: @simplynourishedand follow the collective while you're at it @theadrenalrecoverycollectiveGet more Burnout, Hormone + General Wellness Support Below
In this episode, we discuss common and oftentimes hidden illnesses that can cause and/or often accompany adrenal fatigue. It's not always clear whether HPA axis dysfunction or Adrenal Fatigue is the chicken or the egg in the situation. For example, did the mono you had as a kid create so much stress on the body that it hindered your HPA axis creating lasting consequences or was your HPA axis already compromised due to chronic stress, from say childhood trauma or another health issue and that's why you were more susceptible to mono or other illnesses and have a harder time recovering from them? The answers aren't always straightforward. So today we want to discuss a handful of these illnesses or health issues/conditions in hopes to connect some dots and bring awareness to things you need to consider and address with an integrative practitioner so you can finally recover. You'll notice some common themes popping up again and again, showcasing that nothing is happening in isolation. We hope this brings you some clarity, some ah-ha's, and as always, some hope and empowerment. Bioidentical hormones and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can be so helpful when struggling with hormonal imbalances. For some, they can support nearly instant symptom relief which can be huge. In our community, where adrenal fatigue (HPA Axis Dysfunction) often leads to imbalances with stress and sex hormones, this can be a route that many wish to explore to get back to feeling like their old selves.Today we chat with Brie Wieselman all about this topic. In this episode, we discuss
Mindset work is an important part of any type of transformation or change you're trying to create in your life, and recovery from chronic conditions, like adrenal fatigue, is no exception. With that said, after doing mindset work personally for over two decades and using it with clients for the last decade, my perspective and strategies/tools have evolved and I can't wait to share them with you today.I am going to dive into somatic therapy and give you a peek inside the work I do with our private clients and the concepts I teach inside the Fatigued to Fabulous Program, our monthly recovery membership to help our clients address their mental and emotional stress. Mental and emotional stress is one of the four HPA axis stressors. For those who are new to that term, HPA axis dysfunction it's what we mean when we say adrenal fatigue and the HPA stands for Hypothalamic Pituitary Adrenal. In summary, mental and emotional stress is one of the main causes of adrenal fatigue. So If you want to learn how to address the mental and emotional stressors in your life, in the healthiest way possible and you have found mindset work a bit challenging or you enjoy mindset work but you want to build on it and go deeper, you definitely want to listen to this episode.Get more Burnout, Hormone + General Wellness Support Below

We discuss many of the common symptoms that go along with adrenal fatigue and how adrenaline dominance could be a less obvious influence behind them. In this episode, Angela has a fascinating chat with her sister, Gina Rocchio Gymer. As a therapist, Gina has brilliance with conversation and helping women and families feel connected. We know this convo will be extremely helpful because this journey can be very isolating, you can feel alone and you can lose connection with people along the way. The struggle is very real and we know many of you have experienced this first hand. Many of you are dealing with symptoms that are somewhat vast and mysterious and often to the point of debilitating but at the same time, you might not have any answers from doctors or a diagnosis. On the other hand, perhaps you resonate with the symptoms of adrenal fatigue, but because the term “adrenal fatigue” is not medically recognized, your partners, friends or loved ones scrutinize your condition making you feel like you're crazy or just a “hypochondriac”.Being told “it's all in their head” can take a toll on many levels and this makes it harder to get support and compassion from your partners, loved ones, family, friends. This makes the healing journey even harder, more lonely and more isolating. We are excited to dive into this topic that comes up over and over again in our Facebook Community with Gina today and to have her guide us through some ideas for how to talk with our loved ones in a way they can hear it. I am certain you will walk away from this convo with insights and tools to have better conversations so you feel more supported on this journey. We are excited to have Dr. Carrie Lam on the show today to talk about how stress impacts the physical body, bringing together connections and circuits we don't always think of when it comes to rebalancing and re-establishing our best health. Adrenal fatigue is deeply connected to physical and emotional stress and often the neuro-endocrine response can become almost subconscious when we become used to living with stress chronically-- or when we are not managing day-to-day stressors well. Having more awareness around this important connection between our body and brain can be so important for your recovery and we are thrilled to have Dr. Carrie Lam here with us today to discuss this in more detail via the NeuroEndoMetabolic (NEM) Stress Response. We discuss the following: - How Dr. Carrie Lam started specializing in Adrenal Fatigue and how her family became experts in the industry- The NeuroEndoMetabolic Stress Response. That might be new to some so Dr. Lam breaks down (what this means, the different circuits involved, where one begins, how to determine your “stress color” )- How this is different than the more simplistic HPA Axis dysfunction- How the Lam Clinic uses NEM theory to support their patients- and lots more! ⭐️ Join our Fatigued 2 Fabulous Adrenal Recovery Membership System for over 60% through the holidays and get instant access to resources, meal plans, supplement guides + LIVE coaching ➡️ https://bit.ly/3dS8LIG ⭐️ CONNECT WITH DR. The connection between the adrenals and the nervous system is very important. So important, that If you don't learn to regulate the nervous system as part of your recovery, you may never fully recover. One really important part of the nervous system we want to bring into the discussion today is one of our cranial nerves called the vagus nerve. The Vagus nerve has many very important jobs which we will dive into today's episode, this nerve is the only nerve in the body that allows you to decrease stress and because the adrenals are the glands that help us respond to stress, it's a must-have conversation that will hopefully greatly benefit your adrenals. We discuss the following: - Nervous system basics and how the vagus nerve comes into play- How cranial nervous can become compromised - The vagus nerve / adrenal connection - The vagus nerve / gut connection- How to stimulate and tone the vagus nerve to support your adrenalsMore resources for ya!Check out Angela's meditation album for dreamy guided meditations + breathwork here: https://bit.ly/3gSh9ZKClick here for adrenal + hormone supportive meal plans + recipes: https://bit.ly/3mCKUzBStruggling with fatigue and wondering where to start? ⭐️Grab your free adrenal recovery starter guide here ➡️ https://bit.ly/2MLShEL⭐️Apply for a free starter call with a coach ➡️ http://bit.ly/2rh2P7u ⭐️Join our Recovery Revolution and get instant access to resources, meal plans, supplement guides + LIVE weekly coaching ➡️https://bit.ly/3aIOp0N
When it comes to dealing with ongoing fatigue issues, there's no doubt that like an onion, there are many layers that we need to look at when it comes to addressing some of the underlying factors that contribute to our fatigue-- especially when we've been experiencing it in a more chronic way. It's easy to look at our diets, our sleep, our lifestyles-- but today we are going to discuss a sneaky culprit that could be lurking around our homes that could be contributing to the issue without us even realizing it. So in this episode, we chat with MJ (@being_mjrenshaw on IG) about the influence of mold when it comes to ongoing fatigue issues. We discuss the following: - A bit about MJ and her experience with mold- The mold connection to issues like chronic fatigue - How do we know if we have mold plus (common symptoms if it's making you sick) - What do we need to look for in our home? - Common mistakes people make with mold in their home or work.- How we can know if it's affecting us or getting in the way of our recovery- Genetics for mold, co-infections for mold, and why it shows up differently for everyone. - Different types of mold and why they need to be treated differently. - Mental aspects of healing mold We highly recommend working with a professional before starting a detox protocol, especially if you're struggling with many complex symptoms.Resources mentioned:Benefact Cleaner: https://benefect.com/us/products/Limbic System Training: https://retrainingthebrain.com/Toxic By Neal Nathan, MD: https://www.chapters.indigo.ca/en-ca/books/toxic-heal-your-body-from/9781628603118-item.htmlConnect with MJ on IG: https://www.instagram.com/being_mjrenshaw/Learn More about MJ and The Being Method: http://www.mjrenshaw.caBuy some Earth Oil: https://earthconnectionoil.com/collections/allMore resources for ya!Check out Angela's meditation album for dreamy guided meditations + breathwork here: https://bit.ly/3gSh9ZKClick here for adrenal + hormone supportive meal plans + recipes: https://bit.ly/3mCKUzBStruggling with fatigue and wondering where to start? ⭐️Grab your free adrenal recovery starter guide here ➡️ https://bit.ly/2MLShEL⭐️Apply for a free starter call with a coach ➡️ http://bit.ly/2rh2P7u ⭐️Join our Recovery Revolution and get instant access to resources, meal plans, supplement guides + LIVE weekly coaching ➡️https://bit.ly/3aIOp0N
We are excited to be back for a part 2 with Dr. Holly German today discussing the influence of perimenopause and menopause hormonal fluctuations and the adrenal influence on symptoms. Listen to Part 1 here: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/42724872In this episode, we wanted to focus the conversation on somewhat atypical symptoms that we see with a lot of our clients, but are less talked about in the peri-menopause or menopausal space. This includes things like sleep, mental and emotional issues, body composition changes and more. We dive into how the adrenals contribute to these symptoms and most importantly, what you can do to alleviate them. Here are some of the topics covered in this episode: -Menopause recap, what is it and how do you know you're in it?- What are the most typical/common symptoms that come about with menopause/perimenopause- What are the more Atypical (but just as common) symptoms that are often overlooked or not associated with the hormonal changes at play? - How these symptoms are connected - How stress and adrenal issues exacerbate these symptoms- Recommendations for those not there yet but looking to prevent these symptoms down the road? - What you can do if you are having these symptoms currently- Adrenal issues and hormonal imbalance and false menopause in younger women, can you reverse this? With the influx of info on the internet, it can be so easy to get overwhelmed by how to approach food when you're burnt out and struggling with your hormones. So much information, so many totally opposing points of view can make it hard enough for the average person to figure out how to eat-- add exhaustion, stress, and inability to make decisions to the mix (a common symptom of adrenal fatigue) and it becomes all the more difficult. It's enough to make people incredibly anxious when it comes to making food decisions and it can stop us from making any decisions or dietary changes period, which can keep us stuck in a variety of ways. In this episode, our Co-founder of The Adrenal Recovery Collective and certified holistic nutritionist, Danielle Zies, helps to clear the air around some really common adrenal recovery dietary tips. We discussed:- When it comes to eating for burnout, what should someone's top focus be?- Is there any “diet” that you recommend specifically for adrenal fatigue that tends to do better than others? What about keto? What about cleanses and fasting? Elimination style diets-- when do they fit in? - How important is it to take out foods like gluten and dairy and is it important for everyone?- What dietary tips Danielle used when overcoming stage 3 adrenal fatigue. It was an honor to interview Dr. Achina Stein on The Adrenal Fatigue Podcast. We have hundreds of people that come to us every week that have been told by their doctors that there is nothing wrong with them, that their blood work looks “fine”. They're often left feeling like It's all in their head and then they are prescribed or encouraged to take antidepressants as a solution. A lot of the time when people reach out to us, they know in their gut that this approach doesn't feel like the right solution for them and they're searching for the missing piece. Here at The Adrenal Recovery Collective, we believe that there is way more to the story that's not being investigated, that is leaving so many miserable, scared and feeling like there's no other option than synthetic drugs and antidepressants. Dr. Achina has so much wisdom on this topic and really and we know this conversation is one that will inspire and offer a lot of hope for many of our listeners! We really hope you enjoy! We discussed:- The impact of addressing root the root cause and how to get support in doing so- Dr. Achina's transition from mainstream psychiatrics to functional medicine- Emotional trauma and how it can deeply affect our mental and physical wellness- What to do if you keep hearing "your blood work is fine" from your doctor- and so much more! This week we had a lovely chat with Dr. Effy Germanis, Naturopathic Doctor and Licensed Acupuncturist, about the thyroid connection to adrenal issues. Many people come to us with questions about if their thyroid issues are affecting their adrenals or if their adrenal issues could be influencing their thyroid. We discuss where to start when it comes to testing and root level things to consider that help both on a foundational level! Here's a breakdown of what we discussed:- The thyroid in general, what is it, and what it does. What happens when it's imbalanced?- What is the adrenal/thyroid connection and why do we need to know about it- Hyper vs Hypo-thyroid, a quick overview- What is Hashimotos- what's the difference between regular thyroid issues- How Hashi's is diagnosed and what are the causes/symptoms?- Trauma and gut issues as root causes that we overlook- When it comes to getting thyroid clarity -- why do things look okay on blood work but often not tell the whole story, what testing do we need to do to get a clear understanding of what's actually going on? This week we had a lovely chat with Dr. Effy Germanis, Naturopathic Doctor and Licensed Acupuncturist about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and how we can use it as a modality to support hormonal imbalance and overcoming burnout. We love the accessibility of this type of medicine and it's very supportive as you'll find out in this episode for those who struggle taking supplements, have acute physical symptoms, are on different medications, are pregnant or nursing and so much more. Sometimes these factors may feel limited in what we can and can't do-- so TCM fits in well in these cases.
