See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today, I had a chat with Matt Trobbiani on his hit game, a hacking simulator, and his upcoming sports title Wrestledunk Sports. His first game, a result of a game jam that Matt held with his friends and he later iterated upon, became a massive success. We take a behind the scenes look on how it was developed and how he made realistic hacking simulator more accessible to non-technical folks. Of course we also chat about his upcoming title, Wrestledunk Sports, and the super technical netcode which he built from scratch. Very interesting chat on how competitive games fix problems with latency in games.Video of the Hacknet Game Jam:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcAaE99tkuIGet Wrestledunk Sports on Steam:https://store.steampowered.com/app/1301520/Wrestledunk_Sports/?snr=1_1056_4_creator_1059&curator_clanid=38042151Get Hacknet on Steam:https://store.steampowered.com/app/365450/Hacknet/?snr=1_1056_4_creator_1059&curator_clanid=38042151Follow Matt:- Twitter: https://twitter.com/orann?lang=de- Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/developer/TFAFollow Moonlight Game Devs:- Website: https://moonlightgamedevs.com/- Twitter: https://twitter.com/devs_moonlight- Discord: https://discord.gg/rfcYJJB- Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoonlightGameDevs- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Moonlight-Game-Devs-117297853384521- YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrGAw9i5HoaByeiQAV5FaLA- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/moonlightgamedev/

In the previous episode I take a foray in to the world of indie games (video and tabletop), learning about the history, business and what makes an indie game well indie. In this episode I go further by taking some of the information learned and applying it to my RPG gaming and playing and exalting some amazing indie games (I did gush a bit)! I discuss Hacknet, Xenofera and Coffee Talk in this episode, three amazingly creative and fun indie games! Each game has strong development and innovation, a couple have distinct and downloadable soundtracks and the art in all of them is incredible! I also add a quick blurb as the upcoming weekend (1/31 - 2/2) is the Global Game Jam and I am trying to get onsite to one of the local locations!
Matt Trobbiani joins us to talk about Team Fractal Alligator's latest game Wrestledunk Sports the game that features a collection of tight sports games that are quick to get in to but full of responsive gameplay. Wrestledunk Sports is a follow up to Matt's widely successful tittle Hacknet, Matt told Fiona and Mitch about the new direction he has taken his development. There are few games franchises that have a longer lasting legacy that the Pokemon series however it seems that Gamefreak themselves are having trouble living up to the expectations of their dedicated fan base. With calls for boycotts and death threats hurled at the developer, the fanbase of Pokémon seems to be at war with itself. We take you through this story and bring you the lows and the highs of the release of Pokémon Sword & Shield. Pixel Sift is produced by Scott Quigg, Sarah Ireland, Fiona Bartholomaeus & Mitch Loh. Matt Trobbiani is an indie game designer and developer, and head at Team Fractal Alligator. Matt created Hacknet, a critically received and popular game released in 2015, which saw players taking on the role of a hacker, penetrating systems, avoiding detection, and madly typing realistic commands in to a virtual console interface. Join Matt and our host Jason Imms as they took some time for an interview during the otherwise hectic Game Connect Asia Pacific conference, and hear Matt's thoughts on burnout, the pressures of success, and what it takes to get noticed in a saturated marketplace.

This week on The Free Cheese: We discover the deep web. Marc returns from a roller coaster adventure and shares the stories of amusement park nightmares. Matt looks forward to a trip to Boston and recants his first encounter with a horse. Joe finds a new face to horrify the children with and is excited to play his Switch on a plane. In Now Playing, we talk about Hacknet and why it changes the way you think, Ys Origin and its low-poly love affair, and how Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow has become the go-to game on the DS. Then, we talk about cool job offers, The International 7, and indie games coming to Switch.
This week on Player Attack, we're getting a little bit competitive. Hi-Rez Studios took its Mid Year finals to Adelaide's Cybergamer studios - and we were there to check out all the action. Featuring two of the developer's best games - third-person MOBA Smite and free-to-play hero shooter Paladins - it was a weekend of high-energy esports in the brand new venue. We caught up with members of both Legacy and the LG Dire Wolves - the two Smite teams going head-to-head to determine the Split 2 champions. One of these teams walked out of the event with a fair chunk of the $25,000 prize pool, while the other has a glint in their eyes, looking for revenge. On the Paladins side of the fence, the stakes were even higher - the winner of Sunday's event would be sent to Spain, to represent the region at Dreamhack Valencia! Kanga Esports faced off against newcomer Kings - and we spoke to both teams to find out what was going on. (Want to know more about Smite or Paladins? Stephen Cooper, the head tournament admin from Hi-Rez was also on hand to fill us in on both games, as well as caster HughZ.) But wait! There's more! Angelo sits down with Adelaide developer Chris Johnson to chat about what he's been doing lately. Spoiler: He's been working hard on The Slaughterhouse, a mod for Hacknet that focusses on the numerous ethical issues surrounding an abbatoir. ...plus, of course, we have all the latest in gaming news - this is Player Attack! http://www.playerattack.com
This week on Player Attack, we're not even supposed to be here today. If you haven't seen Clerks, you're missing out on one of this generation's most influential films. Shot for less than $30,000 and making more than $3 million in theatres, Clerks catapulted director Kevin Smith into the public eye. Happily, he dragged a few of his friends up with him - and Jonny Robot caught up with Dante (Brian O'Halloran) and Veronica (Marilyn Ghigliotti) for a two-part chat about filmmaking, indie cinema, and the importance of following your dreams. The number 37 is not mentioned anywhere in the interview, except for this sentence. Indie smash Hacknet has been described as a hacking simulator so authentic that it cannot be played in an airport, and the first expansion set - Hacknet Labyrinths - was released just a few months ago. Adelaide developer Matt Trobbiani drops in to talk to Angelo in the latest episode of Player A-Chat. ...plus, of course, we have all the latest in gaming news - this is Player Attack! http://www.playerattack.com
This week on The Free Cheese: is that a fidget spinner? We get really excited about Castlevania making its debut on Netflix later this summer, while trying to figure out when Kingdom Hearts III is coming out. Matt climbs the ranks to rookie in Dota 2 while Joe calls it quits. Matt also learns how to hack computers in Hacknet. Marc gets violent with Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers and then trains Magikarps to jump. Joe tries out ARMS and sees what strategy lies within the Nintendo fighter.

Does it bother you that we forcibly entertain you for more than two hours per fortnight (or one hour per week if correctly rationed)? Do you wish you could get your Midnight Resistance fix and then return to your thoughts of death and the abyss? Then shucks howdy, have we got an episode for you!We had Sean McTiernan on, and something went wrong with his recording - it cut off before we got to the questions bit. This is a shame, because there was some good stuff in the second half. Although a few of you asked us to get McTiernan on again, so in a way this is basically all your fault? So, aye.
