Welcome to another exciting episode of the Crystal Core Radio podcast! In today's episode, Brian returns as your co-host alongside Chris and Chrono, with special guest Chili. We kick things off by reflecting on last week's spoiler-free deep dive into Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail, which featured insightful perspectives from Elio and Chili. If you're avoiding spoilers but still want to stay updated, be sure to catch that episode. This week, we celebrate a milestone of crossing 60,000 downloads, thanks to our dedicated listeners. The team discusses their current gaming adventures, from soft-modding the Wii U and playing Twilight Princess HD to diving back into Fortnite and Final Fantasy XIV. We also touch on the challenges of balancing new and old games and the nostalgia of titles like Age of Empires and Minecraft. Our main topic of discussion revolves around the recent price hike of Microsoft's Game Pass. We explore the implications of the new standard tier, which excludes day-one releases for console players, and the FTC's reaction to this change. The panel shares their thoughts on the potential impact on consumers, the value of family plans, and the missed opportunities for adding more value to the Ultimate tier, such as including subscriptions to popular MMOs like World of Warcraft. We then shift our focus to No Man's Sky and its latest 5.0 update, which brings it closer in visual fidelity to the upcoming title, Light No Fire. We discuss the impressive eight-year journey of No Man's Sky, the team's commitment to free updates, and the excitement around Light No Fire's promise of a fully rendered planet-size open world. The conversation also delves into the potential benefits of early access for Light No Fire and the innovative reuse of existing assets to create new gaming experiences. Finally, we wrap up the episode with a challenging game of 20 Questions, where the panel tries to guess a nostalgic N64 game. Tune in to find out if they can identify the game and join us for some fun and laughter along the way. Don't miss this engaging episode filled with gaming insights, industry news, and a trip down memory lane. Thank you for being a part of our journey, and we look forward to bringing you more exciting content in the future!

Welcome to our first Beyond Hyrule episode! These episodes will be where we periodically discuss a game outside the Zelda series. For this first Beyond Hyrule, we welcome Maddie, the youngest of the Short siblings! Maddie grew up watching Tanner and Timmi play Zelda, and then she got into them herself throughout elementary school. She's played Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Oracle of Seasons, Skyward Sword (which she recently beat for the first time), and Breath of the Wild. This week, she and Timmi give us a beginner's look at Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Animal Crossing is a Sims-style game from Nintendo, and the main goal of New Horizons is called Project K, an initiative to create a 3-star island suitable for the popstar, K. K. Slider. You accomplish this by building houses, bridges, and inclines for the people who come to live on your island. There are also other islands you can visit, such as Harv's island, to make money and meet villagers. There is also a DLC called the Happy Home Paradise that lets you work on a vacation resort to save up money and find fancy furniture. You can also visit other people's islands. You can "dream" into random islands of other players, use a dream code to visit a specific island, or visit the island of a Switch friend. Your island can become home to various personalities of villagers. You can get visitors if you have camping sites setup, or you can interact with the typical villagers common to the game. You meet Blathers the owl early on who collects bugs, fish, and fossils to eventually set up a museum. There's also the mayor, Tom Nook, who offers you loans to build new buildings, and his two sons, Tommy and Timmy, who set up a store called Nook's Cranny. Other villagers come and go, selling you their wares as they come. Then there are the other 400 collective villagers. There is a large range of Animal Crossing fans, and one hub for fans on the internet is Nookazon where players can buy and trade villagers. Maddie's favorite villager is Marina the octopus because of her bubbly personality, and Timmi's favorite villager is her tubby penguin Wade because he's simply adorable. Earning money is a major factor of gameplay. It can be hard to get started, so you can sponsor friends if they visit your island. You can also trade in artifacts at Blathers' museum, trade turnips in a stock-market type system, or you can collect Nook Miles to redeem for bells (the currency of the game). There are tons of other creative ways to earn bells, and the money helps you build up the island for Project K. When Project K is complete, you are given the ability to terraform and let creativity run wild on your island. Overall, this is an amazing game that lets players relax and created their island however they want. The objective is simple enough too to lure anybody into the game. In the future, Timmi and Maddie hope to see an easier path to initially saving up bells, as well as more DIY recipes and customizable furniture. This episode is rated Beginner. Discussion topics are broad and tailored to all levels of gamer, especially those who have never played Animal Crossing. Spoilers for games are at a minimum. Ny episode!!

Good day, good day, and welcome to yet another show where we still don't know anything about Breath of the Wild 2 or when the next Nintendo Direct might be. It's not all bad news though, as this week, we participated in Linktober's Zelda Creator Con and had a really fun show, debuting a new segment called Zelda's Percentages. The premise is simple: we read a statement and then assign a percentage on the likelihood of it coming true or not! Does the sequel sell less than half of the original Breath of the Wild? Is there any way that corpse isn't Ganondorf? Is Zelda next in line for a movie? Are we paying full price each for The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD? Hello Trenders! With Breath of the Wild 2 (The Sequel to the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild) being delayed recently, I think it's important that we look at a trend that's stood true for the zelda team since 2013 now, there's been a new zelda game in some form since then, whether it be a spin off, port, remaster, new game or something completely different there has always been a game every single year, so today I think it's important that we look at which games could be released on the switch this year now that the delay has taken place, I'll discuss options like new 2d ports, Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD, Spin off games and a brand new 2d game. [School of Everything Else 2017] This is the third show I have put together about the Legend of Zelda series. The first was back in 2010 for Digital Cowboys when we covered most of the games in the series. The second was in early 2012 on Digital Gonzo when we covered the contentious Skyward Sword on the Wii (This episode is now available exclusively through Patreon). This time we're looking at a bunch that we missed first time round, and one or two that have emerged more recently. 2001. Oracle of Seasons/Ages 2004. The Minish Cap 2006. Twilight Princess 2007. Link's Crossbow Training 2007. The Phantom Hourglass 2009. Spirit Tracks 2011. Ocarina of Time 3D 2013. A Link Between Worlds 2013. Wind Waker HD 2014. Hyrule Warriors 2015. Majora's Mask 3D My guests this time are Laura Kate Dale, Gary Blower, Glen Watts, Iain Hopwood, Lloyd Huhn, David Garcia Abril and Richard Lago. This show was recorded back in 2015 while the Switch was still called the NX, Breath of the Wild didn't have a name and Twilight Princess HD had yet to be announced. When we do a fourth Zelda show it will be a lot sooner and will be all about Breath of the Wild, which after thirty or so hours of play may be my favourite of them all. Guests: Laura Kate Dale of Lets Play Video Games Gary Blower of GameBurst Iain Hopwood of Year of Steam Lloyd Huhn David Garcia Abril Richard Lago Glen Watts
The nation may be divided, but this podcast sure isn't. This week we finished up our Let's Play of the game Virginia and let's just say, we're all just a bit confused. So, you should definitely go and check that out! However, before we even start talking about Virginia, Stephen begins Under Your Thumb this week with two games. First, Twilight Princess HD. He thinks it's not worth your time, and to add insult to injury, hardly even "HD". The other game he played was Super Mario 3D World, which many of the gang agree is a great game. He would concur. Following that is Justin. He still has a lot to say about the Skyrim Remaster. You know, the water, the grass, the rocks, and the clouds. Especially the clouds. It even got him off his Fallout 4 kick. Who would have thought? He also introduced the rest of us to a "Brian Shitter Game™, Steppy Pants. Group texts aside, I think he made a good case for the game being good. Gary's next and his game this week is Titanfall 2. For a game he was on the fence about buying he sure does seem pretty happy about his purchase. The game developers must also love listening to the podcast too, because some of the names in the game hit a little too close to home, and a little too close for comfort. Anthony then lets us know he's still going strong on Dark Souls 3, unlike some people who seem to have trouble even removing the plastic wrap from the game. The new Dishonored 2 makes an appearance and that's when Brian jumps in to talk about the game. Speaking of the game, Brian did an unboxing of his Collector's Edition copy of the game. You should absolutely take a look at that. But the game seems great. A somewhat short Drunken News tonight, but we talk Jade Empire sequels, Fallout 4 mods on the PS4, Mafia III update, Nintendo Wii U's end, downloadable NES manuals, and The Last Guardian going gold. The Drunken Show Notes: Jade Empire Sequel is ‘Never Dead,’ Says BioWare Fallout 4 Mods For PS4 Coming With Next Update New Mafia III Update Includes Free, Stylish Outfits Nintendo announces the end of Wii U production Download and print game manuals for all 30 games coming in the NES Classic Edition The Last Guardian may have taken a decade, but it will have 4K! Welcome to another brand new episode of Connectivity. This week, Nick, Adam and bench editor Donald are joined by Becky Hollada. For the first segment, Becky has been catching up on Fire Emblem Fates, while Adam is just about done with Twilight Princess HD, Donald is recovering from a review game gone awry by falling into a Pokemon Shuffle hole and Nick is playing what he can of Paper Mario as well as Star Fox Zero. After that, we answer a listener mail on our dreams for the NX's Virtual Console. To bring it home, we discuss Nintendo's E3 plans (recorded before they clarified that there will be no digital event) and other stories from Nintendo's financial statements. Music from this episode is the Expert Stage music from Pokemon Shuffle, and the Jungle music from Contra. Nintendo World Report is now on Patreon, and high rollers can name their topic for Connectivity, so head over to our Patreon page if you want to support us. Connectivity has joined Twitter, so be sure to follow @ConnectivityNWR to be up to date on any announcements. We are wanting more listener participation, so feel free to ask questions, they may show up in the show! Lastly, we need your Listener Mail! Contains the longest Mushroom ever Before we begin, a warning: With one exception, we have left the explicit tag on for this one as there are some issues that we need to talk about that definitely aren't family friendly. In New Business, Donald brushes off Miitomo in order to talk about a trio of Legend of Zelda games: Hyrule Warriors Legends, the de facto New 3DS exclusive, a surprising over-performer in Twilight Princess HD, and a brief pitstop in Link to the Past as an actual New 3DS exclusive. Stephen played the Platinum demo of Final Fantasy XV since that didn't take long, then decided to go fishing with Big the Cat for some crazy reason. Austen's menu includes gun-toting roguelikes with insane progression requirements (Enter the Gungeon), a blatant marketing attempt that will do better than its co-production (Ratchet and Clank 2016), a game that is the last gasp of TVTVSportsTV Microsoft (Quantum Break) and a game that don't give a f**k (Plants v Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, which shouts out to K-Log). Whatcha Watchin' includes a superhero run, followed by Stephen getting all up in the Zach Miller department with The Good Dinosaur. Donald counters the superheroes with... wrestlers emerging from cereal boxes devoted to a certain body part in the Shaymin Sports-Ent Minute, before getting thrown out of the show as he's Expelled from Paradise. Austen blasted through Psycho-Pass season 2, but follows that with the long-awaited extended breakdown of The Force Awakens. If you're trying to stay spoiler-pure, you'll need to jump ahead about 25 minutes. Because Whatcha Watchin' went long, we had to forego the feature which would have ran through the state of the Legend of Zelda series - and that's not going to be on 77 either. Instead, it's straight to the Mushrooms which Austen and Stephen tackle quickly, but Donald has the longest Mushroom in history as they break down everything known (at the time) about the Alison Rapp affair. Thankfully, SquareEnix is always around to provide a nice antidote. Our next show will record shortly and is going to break down some recent changes to a host's travel plans, but be sure to get in your comments and questions. Also, the show ran a little late as Donald is editing NWR's Connectivity after an injury, so go check out episode 202 to see his handiwork. This podcast was recorded on April 15 and edited by Donald Theriault.

Justin leads off this week and his list is long. He starts with more Gears of War Ultimate Edition and then moves on to Dishonored. But what we all really came for is his Paper Mario Thousand-Year Door saga. Brian's up next and boy does he love The Division. You should listen to see why. Next is Anthony, and Tom Crook has finally gotten all his money. Or has he? We also find out Anthony's had enough of Paper Jam and those stupid toads. Then there's some more talk of Twilight Princess HD and the Fallout 4 DLC. Last up is Gary, and he's got Metal Gear V, Shadow Complex, and a few things to say about Hitman's episodic content. A familiar voice finally returns this week, and in his typical fashion comes unprepared. No worries, however, there are plenty of other games to talk about. Justin opens up briefly with Metal Gear Solid and then returns to talking about Paper Mario Thousand-Year Door, before dropping the bomb that he got Pokemon Yellow. No where near as far as Anthony. Speaking of him, he's next with Dishonored, more thoughts on Paper Jam (and the awful toads), and Twilight Princess HD. A great game, but not so great HD remaster. Brian closes this week with the game he could not speak of: Fable Legends, before ending on The Division. As we come to the end of our LoZ retrospective, Matt and I wanted to discuss some final thoughts and feelings on this now 30 year old franchise. We are currently going through Twilight Princess HD on Man Mode on my stream (that is: hero mode plus Ganondorf amiibo for 4x damage, and only boss hearts). And with a new Legend of Zelda looming this holiday season we wanted to address our favorite moments and what makes a Zelda game great. Matt is a die hard Zelda fan, surprise, and I'm more casual about it, another surprise. Thing is, I think for every gamer, casual or hard core, Zelda holds a special place. I give my reasons and Matt gives his. Let me know on Twitter what your favorite Zelda moments are! As always, Shine on!

Cliff is out this week, but Vader and Jeremy talk about a LOT of games on this one. Too many to count, but we'll try: The Division Beta, Firewatch, Lifeline, Life is Strange (don't believe Vader's lies), Until Dawn, Garden Warfare 2, No Man's Sky, Resident Evil Remakes, Twilight Princess HD, and probably more. Jeremy goes on a long-winded rant about Dark Souls 3 spoilers, and we have some reader comments at the end. Less than 3 weeks into 2016 and we're already looking backwards at the year that was 2015. A year ago we made some predictions about what we thought we would or wouldn't see, but one year later were our guesses correct, or were we way off the mark? Before we find out though, it's time for your weekly dose of video game news. Hitman is going episodic; The Division's beta is on the way; Twilight Princess HD is getting an extra dungeon; and the results of Sony's attempted trademark of "Let's Play" have been revealed. Oh, and there was a trailer for a new Cloverfield film this week... You know, in case anyone missed it. Some accomplishments in gaming are impressive, some are time consuming, and some require an enormous amount of skill. Then there are those that, while being all of those things, are just so ridiculous that you're forced to ask "what kind of person would even want to put themselves through that?" In our new section this week, we attempt to answer that question. And finally, it's onto the green pastures of What Have We Been Playing, as we discuss Rocket League, Elder Scrolls Online, WWE 2K16, Diablo 3, Fallout 4, and Halo 5. Such a diverse and varied set of games could only appear on one show on the internet: The Gamecentral Podcast! Enjoy! IGN's Nintendo show returns! Join host Jose Otero, Peer Schnieder, and Brian Altano for a fun episode, as the crew discusses: IGN’s Best of 2015 Awards Splatoon won best shooter and best competitive multiplayer Super Mario Maker won Best Wii U game Zelda: Tri Force Heroes won Best 3DS game Why Splatoon Should’ve Been IGN’s Wii U Game of the Year If NX is a 2016 Product, Nintendo Needs to Start Talking About It Now 2016 could be a big year for... Zelda (30th Anniversary) Nintendo has three Zelda-related projects on the books. Hyrule Warriors Legends, Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, Zelda Wii U First two new details dropped yesterday (max rupees count is higher and less tears to collect) based on Famitsu’s four pages of coverage. Amazon France claims Zelda; Twilight Princess HD will have the following features: Hero Mode (duh) Wii U GamePad will be used to manage the player’s inventory in real-time Link, Toon Link, Zelda, and Sheik amiibo, when activated, replenish hearts or arrows Wolf Link amiibo is set to unlock a new dungeon, which loosely translates as “The Cave of Twilight.” **This could be big** Reminder: This amiibo is tied to new Zelda. Metroid (30th Anniversary) This week, Metroid Zero Mission is finally released on VC. Question from Erik Osborne: "Even though I’ve been a big Nintendo fan for a long time, I've oddly never played a Metroid game outside of a few minutes here and there. I've been thinking of playing through the series due to there not being a lot of games. Would you recommend playing it in order of release, or chronological order story-wise? Thanks, love the podcast." Will Metroid Prime: Federation Force return? Will Samus return in 2016? Pokemon (20th Anniversary) Japan is getting Four Poke-themed 2DS bundles US and EUR are getting special New 3DS and 2DS bundles respectively
