Then our panel gets down to the business at hand, because, wow, what a pivotal episode! Ben Horne is shaken to his very foundation as the Great Northern is under deep scrutiny from the Sheriff's Department with their Killer Bob "Barometer" Mike and then Audrey finally confronts him about One Eyed Jacks! The most horrifying scene of the entire series concludes this episode and the guys and Jen are completely baffled that it was allowed to air on primetime television.... in the 90s! The Cinephiles get gangster this episode, as the topic is, as stated by Matty, "People Doing Criminal Sh*t". The guys welcome Drex Live's producer Eric to the show, as well as regular guest J.J. Webb for a pretty interesting group of films. The panel starts with something a little different in their usual news department. They talk television! With Daredevil now on Netflix and the return of Game of Thrones, the guys movie watching took a little break to get immersed in these groundbreaking TV series. Then the horrible R word comes out: Reboot. What's getting a Hollywood "re-imagining"? These are our Staff Picks of the week! After checking out the latest Fast and Furious film, Matty has an urge to re watch one of the co-stars Tony Jaa's older films The Protector. The movie is about a young Thai fighter who must travel to Australia to recover his stolen elephant, a sacred animal in his village. This movie is packed with incredible martial arts scenes and awesome one shot sequences. We're a little bummed that this film wasn't called "A Boy and His Elephant". Stevil got to check out an advanced screening of Noah Baumbach's new film While We're Young and loved it. It follows a middle-aged "Generation X" couple (Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts) who befriend a young hipster couple (Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried). As the older couple start to feel invigorated by the lifestyle of  their new friends, it starts to drudge up the issues within their own marriage. Baumbach knocks it out of the park again with this one and it also features the screen debut of Beastie Boys' Ad-Rock. Eric has been watching Interstellar pretty regularly and who can blame him? Christopher and Jonathan Nolan weave a beautiful and smart sci-fi about a father going through incredible lengths to save his children and the entire planet from extinction. The visuals are flawless and make you really think about just how small we are in the scope of the universe. Then we pack another bowl in the ol' bong... Canadian films don't usually get their due, but J.J. bring the deeply complex drama Elephant Song as his pick this week. A very dialogue driven film, it stars Bruce Greenwood as a psychiatrist trying to find the whereabouts of his friends and colleagues by questioning one of his main patients played by Xavier Dolan. This young actor/director Dolan's career is on the rise, making his first film at age 19 and movie lovers should definitely check out his work. For the main subject of criminal films, our panel explains why they made their choices: "There are a lot of great criminal or gangster films, but among my favorite are the Guy Ritchie and Matthew Vaughn London gangster films. Vaughn produced Ritchie's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, then pursued making his own film, my choice, the absolutely perfect Layer Cake. This is really the fist time I took notice of Daniel Craig, in, perhaps, his greatest performance to date. This movie got him Bond. Vaughn direction through cinematography, story and great music is immaculate, a great watch every time." - @thestevildead "You may jump to some conclusions as to why I picked Eastern Promises. Is it my love of Cronenberg or is it Viggo's flopping manhood. I picked it because it talks about a criminal underworld that has predominantly started in the shadows, Russian Gangsters. What I brought was a look into the bleak and disturbing underbelly of London, where an outsider gets a first hand view of the darkness that lives in some people's souls." - @mattydub604 "You may be asking what the criminal element in this movie is, well it is identity theft. CB4 is a very real look into how many fake people are in Hip Hop the music industry and to go farther life.  There are some real lessons to be learned  although it may not seem like it with a song called sweat from my balls  Art Evans who plays Chris Rocks father speaks a lot of truth. The soundtrack will take you back to the 90's and you will never look at Khandi Alexander the same again." - @nweaz "I have quite the record of picking Criterion films for these casts. So when the crime genre came up, I had no hesitation in picking this obscure, amazing title. Japan has a great selection of crime films, whether it is yakuza, fast paced action, or a more film noir style of the 50's. Going off the beaten path with Tokyo Drifter, in what can only be described as a jazz, pistol, and loner film, was a no brainer for me, and a great way to introduce a feature most people wouldn't think of when talking about crime films. Ash William fans rejoice! Coming to STARZ in 2015 is Ash Vs. The Evil Dead, a 10 episode series with Bruce Campbell returning to his beloved role.    Stevil, Matty and Nate sat down to discuss this huge announcement, one fans have been waiting on for a very long time. The trio speculates on the story line; Where has Ash been? Is he still battling Deadites? Or has he fallen into complacency as the manager of housewares in S-Mart?    Needless to say, The Manchildren are excited for this one. 

On this episode, Stevil, Jstebz and Matty Dub are beaking off about the Ghostbusters reboot announcement and how it is just another example of how Matty's childhood is being systematically destroyed by Hollywood. JStebz wonders why 'bustin only feels good for a dude and if any re-imagining of the Ghostbusters franchise would be accepted by fanboys. Matty assures listeners that a good movie would be a good movie, but thinks somethings should be sacred and left alone. We move on to our good friend Mike Oeming's new series for the Playstation Network. The trailer for Powers has dropped and it the gang is excited to see this comic series brought to life. More big news in episodicals, Twin Peaks is coming back in 2016 and Stevil is very excited. You can hear more of Stevil's thoughts on the Twin Peaks return in his segment with DrexLive on CKNW. JStebz was intrigued at the thought of raising money to stop a band from playing in her city after reading about the British gentleman who wanted to raise $1000 to ban Nickleback from performing. Matty has some strong opinions about artists who create music with computers, and JStebz quickly turns it around on him, making him something he despises. The Manchildren end this episode with a twisted game of Fuck, Marry, Kill, involving dead popstars, your mom and three versions of the same person. 

Sweet Buttery Jesus, it has been a long while since the League Cast was in action, but we're back. Recorded at the end of September, Steve, Rob and Nate discuss some of the biggest headlines at the time. The NFL is seeing scandal after scandal pop up, involving domestic abuse and other violent crimes. What is it about the NFL that attracts this type of publicity and if other sports suffer this same plight. The topic changes over to the Scottish Referendum, that was happening as this episode was recorded. Would independence be a blessing or a curse for our Scottish friends? With all the talk about currency, could Bitcoin be an option to replace the Pound? And what's with their campaign slogan? Would they work in Canada? You want a Pipeline or nah? We end this episode off on a high note? Talking about Hamas and the Middle East, because, apparently, we're serious like that. (No, no we aren't serious, and none of the above should be taken seriously either.)

Digging into another subject of almost infinite choices, our Cinephiles bring you an episode dedicated to biopics. With so many great, mediocre and downright terrible selections to choose from, the selection process was a little tough, especially for guest Demigod Rob. Do you know how hard it is to crush a man's dreams of bringing My Name is Bruce? To break a man's very soul by telling them that Bruce Campbell didn't actually fight an ancient Chinese evil? I do believe he's still in a pit of despair, trying to come to terms with this new reality. These are our Staff Picks! Matty tries to reinvent the meaning of "Vietnam classic" with his Staff Pick of the week, with a film that has never been regarded as a Platoon-like film or even classic for that matter. We at The League of Manchildren implore our listeners to watch Universal Soldier and tell us whether you agree with Matty's description of it or if you wonder what thought process even got him to this diagnosis. Michaela brings a film that has been getting glowing reviews from the festival screenings it played, as well as a large majority of the stand up comedy community. Does Jenny Slate have a bright future ahead of her? A large number of people agree, Obvious Child is a fantastic start. Stevil is riled up and excited for the final season of Sons of Anarchy. So excited that he wants to talk everything Charlie Hunnam and Ron Perlman. No, he didn't bring Pacific Rim, been there, done that (listen to episode 21). Instead he brings a nervous, socially awkward Charlie and a cross dressing Ron in 3,2,1 Frankie Goes Boom. C'mon, Ron Perlman in drag, how is this not intriguing? Demigod Rob must warn you, he is prone to liking some weird stuff. He doesn't lie about it, beat around the bush about it or sugar coat it. It is what it is. That being said, Under The Skin might have been the film that was too weird for him to like. So with that being said, he highly recommends you skip out on it. Well, maybe after the Scarjo full frontal nudity. We know Matty is more than curious on that issue. We talk a little Stargate Universe and how Patrick's wrongly worded interview sparked controversy in the SG fan community, Katie and Patrick share the story of how they met on set, she was terrifed at first, but then they bummed around space for a while. Steve's movie collection becomes a distraction and we play another round of "Really..? Brought to you by IMDB". We end off the show with a list of things Patrick hates, all of which are Manchildren staples. Will he return to the Mancave, or will he blame it all on the 'YOLO'?Congratulations! Geeks and Nerds love a crossover, and this week The Manchildren give it to you! West Coast Geeks Versus Nerds is a comedy-debate show out of Vancouver (origianally created in Halifax) and Keegan and MooMan skype in to join Michael Lothian and Jen Armstrong to tell us what it's all about. The gang talks past debates and Michael throws some interesting debate topics their way to discuss. MooMan and Keegan announce their season 2 opening show! 

This week Steve, JJ and Jstebz are off on an adventure to podcast with AMC's The Killing actors Billy Campbell and Katie Findlay, in Billy's Vancouver home. How the hell did we pull this one off? (Thanks, Vancouver FanExpo!) Katie share the story of how she and Billy became friends on set. Billy shares a story of his experience working with Michael "Crazy Motherfucker" Rooker on the set of what may have been the worst miniseries ever. The group talks celeb encounters that left them starstruck, Katie crushes Matthew McConaughey, Billy almost kills Fred Astaire and JJ has to tell Russell Crowe whats up. To end it all off, Steve plays a game called 'Really Billy?' Brought to you by the fine fact checkers at IMDB.  The Manchildren await the Rocketeer's return, while he is at sea. 

This week's League Cast is what you'd imagine would happen if you gave an ADD kid unlimited pixie sticks. Steve is joined by new League members Tyler James Nicol, JJ Webb and Nate Kelly. What starts off as conversation about their youth quickly falls off the rails. JJ share his memories of being an American Cripple, his affinity for hair stroking and Steve learns what The Make A Wish Foundation is really about. If Nate's having a good poop, he's having a good day and he's jealous of kids and their BFFs. Tyler shares stories of his celebrity encounters, that time Wil Weaton fixed his sand castle, that time he heard Teller speak, and teaches The Manchildren how to properly approach celebs. To end it off, Nate shares a story about a time he didn't get laid.

This week starts with the welcoming of our Newest Manchild, Rob, AKA Voxy, who is quickly thrown into 'The Gauntlet' as Rob M demands the rest of The Manchildren to get their dicks wet... with fingerpaint. Matty points out, "Not only did Rob pay the tab, but he gave excellent tip". Save BC Film is a cause near and dear to our Manchildren's hearts, and this week's episode is a reflection of that. Matty Dub and The Stevil Dead bring their favorite 'Made In BC' flicks to the table to prove that BC can double as just about anywhere. Matty gives Steve a rundown of the Oscars, the boys defend Quvenzhane Wallis, and Anne Hathaway should suck it up in Les Mis.
