Paul "The Mauler" Lazenby is back for a chat with Stevil. Our host tries to plug everything Paul is involved with (quite a lengthy list!) and the two start talking collectables right off the bat, including getting duped by false advertising. There's also some deep comic talk, like the emo make over of Lobo and all the esthetic changes happening from the printed page to the big screen or TV screen. The guys get a bit nostalgic about the picture quality of VHS and Paul says he still even owns some! Pure jealousy from Stevil on that! Stevil also gets to talk about this year's Wrestlemania and how it drew him in and made him a fan again.... only for a night. What happened? What made Stevil regret his decision? Listen in and find out! Check out Paul's book When We Were Bouncers available on Amazon right now and follow him on Twitter!

Michael and Jstebz are back with another episode of Mainly Mobile. On today's show, Michael is thoroughly engaged in Family Guy: Quest For Stuff and it's not just because of Star Trek. He's also been playing King of Maths, and swears that math is fun, but Jstebz is not having any of that.  Jstebz is still playing Danger Rabbit, but has been branching out with some new apps. She discovered she is too old for Yik Yak. Her ancient phone got an upgrade to Android Lollipop and she's cool with it.  The big news in mobile tech right now is the Apple Watch! Jstebz and Michael briefly discuss their opinions on wearable tech. Also, Meerkat released a beta app for Android, and Jstebz is excited about livestreaming.

30 episodes of the League cast later, our friend Nate Corddry is chatting with Steve again! They are picking up where they left off, Nate was part of the successful CBS series Mom, but has now focused his time on his great new podcast Nate Corddry Presents: Reading Aloud, on the WolfPop Network.  Nate shares some great stories of his time working with Bill Murray on St. Vincent, and how that the old adage "Never Meet Your Idols" can ring true. Nate also tells us what it was like to sit at a table and hurl insults at Sandra Bullock for The Heat, and unleashing his Bostonian accent after years of trying to keep it at a minimum.  Of course, Steve and Nate get into some sports talk, as Nate was at the Superbowl this year, with Jstebz's first crush, Joe McIntyre from The New Kids on The Block and they even touch on the now historic Boston Bruins vs. Vancouver Canucks Stanley Cup Final that left our poor city in shambles. We love having Nate on the show, and hope he'll keep coming back! Nate's new podcast Reading Aloud was years in the making, and it is so fun to listen to. Check it out on Wolfpop.com

As most great things tend to be, the story of the murderous misadventures of Derrick and Sally was born of a fever dream. Written by the drunken murderer himself, Michael Fenske, the webseries centres around a young man named Derrick who wakes from a post-breakup binge next to a bubbly teenager, Sally. What happens next can only be explained as ridiculously fun and fatal.Nate Kelly takes the helm this week and is joined by the Bathtub Killer crew, Ashley MacDonald, Michael Fenske, David Gattey, and from beyond the wall, in a place that is always winter but never Christmas, our lovely Rachel Taylor. The Very Clever Productions gang shares some of the funny moments on set as well as the challenges and processes of creating the webseries. Derrick and Sally have already taken home 1st place in the monthly VanChan webseries festival, here in Vancouver, and are submitting their webseries to other festivals as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the series and cannot wait for season 2. Michael and JStebz are back and talking about a variety of games and helpful hints.  Tired of your Instagram photos being reversed? Michael has a quick tip if you happen to notice this happening on your forward-facing camera shots. Just in case you were confused.  Mainly Mobile favourite, Monument Valley, was on House of Cards! We are happy for Ustwo, the developers, for this unusual arrangement. Thanks Kevin Spacey! Michael has a bit of a gripe with Hearthstone, by Blizzard. It is a collectible card game for PC, iOS, and Android. Recently, the company made a change to make the game less accessible to people, and that is disappointing. Look at Blizzard, reinforcing the 'Size Matters' idea. How rude. Just because our phone screens are smaller than 6 inches doesn't mean they are any less effective and useful. /Sad face.  Jstebz comes in with some interesting crowd-funding campaigns for new apps. Fartners is Twitter for your asshole. You can share your poo gas on your Android device, and the team is currently crowd-funding to create the iOS version of the app. Thanks, Internet. Which celebrities do you want to hear push air out their hole? Download the Android app now to enjoy the sound without the butt-steam. There is a game with bunnies also. Flow Spark Studios is crowd funding Danger Rabbit. Although we were unable to try out the Beta version of the game on iOS because we're crazy Canadians, the game looks like a lot of fun. Plus the turtles don't do anything! Ikea is releasing tables with wireless charging stations in them, and we discuss the usefulness of wireless charging. Cutting cords is the future!

There's a lot going on in the world this week, as Jstebz, Matty, Michael, and Nate come together to break it all down. We start with some exciting things happening in Vancouver. Nate is co-starring in a play called The Weir, written by Conor McPherson.  It runs along with the Vancouver Celtic Fest and each performance is in a different Irish Pub, which brings a whole new dimension of reality along with it. We move along to give our friends The Fictionals and West Coast Geeks VS Nerds some internet high-fives for their big announcements this month. The Fictionals will be performing at Fan Expo Vancouver and WCGVN have secured a great new venue for their monthly debates!  In gaming news, Michael brings us news of a game that Montreal based Ubisoft has developed that could help correct amblyopia (lazy eye) in adults and children. Jstebz is especially excited, as she was a child tortured by eye patches herself. In some sad news, we lost sci-fi legend Leonard Nimoy last week at the age of 83. The gang pays their respects to a man who meant to much to the world. LLAP.Harrison Ford escaped a fatality last week too. As this isn't his first unintentional plane landing, we ask ourselves, how many crashes does it take to make you stop flying? The guys nerd out over House of Cards, as Season 3 has just been released on Netflix, and surprisingly enough, do not offer much in the way of spoilers for Jstebz, who is always behind on TV shows. Matty makes it weird with a story out of Germany. A business is angry with drunk club-goers for peeing on their walls, and take an interesting measure to redirect the stream. Play Episode Listen Later Mar 3, 2015 26:37

Jstebz is leading the helm this week with Michael Lothian and Matty Dubs. We're running through some of the big news from last week. A Vancouver Island man has gone "viral" after uploading a Youtube video of himself being removed from his car with the Jaws of Life. Andrew McDonald fell asleep at the wheel and wrapped his car around a pole and decided to use what little strength and unbroken limbs he had to document his rescue and even make some jokes with the emergency crew. Are we taking our need to document our lives too far or is he just catering to the people who love to slow down and look at accidents?Good news for chronic masturbators and energy conservation enthusiasts, PornHub has created the wearable tech of your dreams, The WankBand. Matty assures us the science is sound, but wants to know how many times he can.. or.. has to take care of himself to charge his phone. Jstebz is unsure of how effective it will be for the ladies and Michael is not sold on this at all. Last week a fan-created Power Rangers film hit the net and was quickly denounced and removed thanks to Saban. The Green/White Ranger wasn't too pleased with the adult content, but as the original Power Ranger fans are all in their mid-to-late thirties, isn't it time we were allowed to see a darker, grittier take on the subject? James Van Der Beek gives the performance of a lifetime and Katie Sackhoff is bad-ass as per usual. Sure the brand is aimed at children, but c'mon. I would pay real money to see this in theatres.  Spoilers from the early days of Reality TV: Pimp My Ride wasn't as "dope" and "Ill" as Xzibit wanted you to think it was. More of the kids featured on the show have joined in on Reddit AMA's to complain that reality shows are not in fact, real. Many of the ridiculous and outlandish "pimps" done to the shittiest cars in history were removed after filming, and complaints of the show not really fixing the cars are apparently surprising people. They even tried to get a guy to break up with his girlfriend to make good TV. Duh. Matty makes it weird with his story about an attack owl in the Dutch town of Permerend. Residents are being warned to bring umbrellas outside with them and Michael teaches Matty about catch 22s. Thank for checking out another episode of the League Cast. Get your phones out, Mainly Mobile is back with a brand new episode. Now that I have an iOS device, I am excited to be able to balance out the podcast to cover both Android and iOS games and apps! Hurray! I have completed FRAMED (iOS only), and it is a great-looking and clever game from 2014 by Loveshack Entertainment, located in Australia. The comic-book visuals and control with a noir feel was a unique combination that made it stand out and pull me in. Also from Australia, Halfbrick Studios created a game in 2010 called Fruit Ninja for multiple platforms, including both iOS and Android, and I finally understand the mass appeal of the game. Hitman GO is a cool take on the Hitman series for Android and iOS by Ubisoft Montréal released in 2014. They take the assassin and put him on a diorama that looks like a board game, where you solve puzzles in a turn-based fashion. Type:Rider is a game from France released in 2013 from a confusing studio/producer combination that hopefully someone can figure out. The game is a work of art that teaches you the history of written language. For the PC crowd, I recommend checking out Mini Metro by New Zealand company Dinosaur Polo Club. The game is about building simple transit systems in various cities with a simple drag-and-drop control scheme. Jstebz has been playing a lot of Skyward by Ketchapp which is has a nice Monument Valley look to it, Linken which is a connect-the-dots puzzle game made by LevelInd, and Bamba, a game in which you must keep your little Frenchman upon his hipster unicycle, developed by Simon Ducroquet. We also checked out Heads Up! A trivia game app made by Ellen Degeneres herself. Who knew she was a secret game dev. Jstebz is on the lookout for more trivia or party games that can be played on one or more devices (Android AND iOS) for game nights with a group of people. Stephen Scarlata, producer of Jodorowsky's Dune, joins Steve, Michael and Demigod Rob to talk about what has been hailed as one of the best documentaries in 2014. As a child of the 80s, Stephen was intrigued by science fiction films, and when he came across David Lynch's Dune, he couldn't get enough. After watching Santa Sangre, his love for Alejandro Jodorowsky grew into an obsession. After meeting Frank Pavish in film school, and creating N.Y.H.C, the film that had never been finished, but often imitated seemed like the next best subject for a documentary. After receiving Jodorowsky's blessing the pieces began to fall into place. Interviews with H.R. Giger, Nicolas Winding Refn, Richard Stanley and Michel Seydoux quickly came together and along with the giant book of Dune storyboards, Stephen's film grew into something amazing. This week on a very serious episode of The League Cast, Jstebz, Stevil, Rob, and Michael are focused on a dangerous habit that touches all of us, distracted driving. In 2013, Werner Herzog was asked to create a Texting and Driving PSA as part of the 'It Can Wait' campaign spearheaded by AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless. The 30 minute documentary, From One Second to the Next, centres around four stories told by the families and drivers involved in the incedents. This documentary hit close to home for all of us, as Herzog used emotion rather than graphic imagery to hit the point home.  Herzog told NPR "It's a deep raw emotion — the kind of deep wounds that are in those who were victims of accidents and also in those who were the perpetrators. Their life has changed and they are suffering forever. They have this sense of guilt that pervades every single action, every single day, every single dream and nightmare.”  Ultimately, it is up to us to keep each other safe by being attentive as we maneuver through our day-to-day lives. The four of us pledge to do our duty and put our phones down to ensure that we are giving the world around us the attention it deserves, and we urge you to do the same.  You can find From One Second to the Next on Netflix and Youtube.

Matty has some strong opinions about artists who create music with computers, and JStebz quickly turns it around on him, making him something he despises. The Manchildren end this episode with a twisted game of Fuck, Marry, Kill, involving dead popstars, your mom and three versions of the same person.

Sweet Buttery Jesus, it has been a long while since the League Cast was in action, but we're back. Recorded at the end of September, Steve, Rob and Nate discuss some of the biggest headlines at the time. The NFL is seeing scandal after scandal pop up, involving domestic abuse and other violent crimes. What is it about the NFL that attracts this type of publicity and if other sports suffer this same plight. The topic changes over to the Scottish Referendum, that was happening as this episode was recorded. Would independence be a blessing or a curse for our Scottish friends? With all the talk about currency, could Bitcoin be an option to replace the Pound? And what's with their campaign slogan? Would they work in Canada? You want a Pipeline or nah? We end this episode off on a high note? Talking about Hamas and the Middle East, because, apparently, we're serious like that. (No, no we aren't serious, and none of the above should be taken seriously either.)

Special guests Kyle Brown and Nick Weber join the League's TheStevilDead, JJ Webb and Nathan Kelly for this very special episode dedicated to the career and life of a true one-of-a-kind, Robin Williams. Welcome to The League Cast #69 (OW! OW!) We're returning from our hiatus with our most disturbed League Cast to date. Steve and Troy give their alter egos some air time and use their powers for evil against their guest... what was his name again? Lots of things are said that cannot be taken back, and it's all fun and games until the Boss Bitch shuts 'er down.   **Because some people take podcasts too seriously....The thoughts, opinions, and incredibly awful jokes expressed in this hour or so of recording is meant in jest, and is not intended to offend anyone, especially people who are offended by everything. Wait, maybe we should put this tagline at the end of every podcast. You know, because of that ONE person who's always offended about things, and then rushes to their Tumblr blog to complain about the people they know inbetween reblogging Doctor Who and Adventure Time gifs. Yeah, that one. Anyways, we're not bad people, we just like saying bad things. Sincerely, Team Buttskins and The League of Manchildren**

Steve and Jen Armstrong join Corey Rollins from Klei Entertainment and Casey and Aaron from Living Myth Magazine for a panel discussion on Geek Culture becoming Pop Culture. The shift of nerd culture into the mainstream brings its own set of Pros and Cons and the group breaks it down. From the oversaturation of boobs and beefy white dudes inspiring OG nerds to create something new and exciting, to the YouTube Gaming Copyright scandal, the panel touches on a little of everything.  While we dream for a geek community that is entirely inclusive, nerd elitism is still a thing. Jen asks, "If someone doesn't know as much as you, why does that offend you?" Does the mainstreem geek culture breed contempt?  We bring our panel to a close with our wish list of what we would like to see, Aaron describes Next Wave as a drunken pitch, Steve wants a real Deadpool and Corey just wants to love Spiderman. We had a great time at North West Fan Fest. Thanks for listening!
