Cities and Memory - remixing the sounds of the world

"The recording of YongNian Rd. reminds me of living in China a number of years ago, and visiting Shanghai and walking down streets like this. What I love about this sample are its many layers - the traffic on the street, the bird chirping - likely in a bamboo cage -- but especially the lively sounds of people talking. Many streets are busy with folks enjoying each others' company - reflecting a common phrase for wishing someone well in China - that they walk slowly."Yong Nian road, Shanghai reimagined by Wayne DeFehr.

Celebrating all the things is an easy way to remind ourselves that we have the best (albeit weirdest) job in the world. We work really hard, whether the public knows it or not. So for vendors, farmers and market teams, a little frivolity can go a long way in making people feel recognized and in relieving the pressure that we're under as we monitor regulations, manage conflict and deal with traffic. If we're also cutting a little cake or getting a bouquet handed to us it can really change the day. Listen in as we talk about everyday celebrations.   It's easy to find things to celebrate Recognition of birthdays and anniversaries mean a lot Sharing your team's accomplishments reminds the public that there IS a team Start now to plan bigger celebrations like National Farmers Market Week

It's a "monster" day for markets, says Kevin Hincks, pointing to four of the Mag 7 reporting earnings after the closing bell. Not only that, but the Fed's interest rate decision has potential to move markets pending on what Jerome Powell says in his expected final press conference. He walks investors through the earnings slate that includes Amazon (AMZN), Alphabet (GOOGL), Microsoft (MSFT), and Meta Platforms (META) and how CapEx spending can sway after-hour market moves. ======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Options involve risks and are not suitable for all investors. Good Morning, I'm Nelson John. Today, India had one of those rare mornings where every story broke in the same direction. The Sensex surged nearly 4 percent in its best single-day gain in five years, adding close to 17 lakh crore rupees in investor wealth. Crude oil crashed 14 percent. The RBI held rates steady at 5.25 percent, and Governor Sanjay Malhotra sent a quiet but important signal that low rates could be here for a while. The West Asia ceasefire has also opened a pathway for India's battered LPG supply chain to recover though experts caution it will take weeks, not days. And in today's personal finance story, we break down a tax trap that catches a lot of people off guard gifting property to your spouse. The gift is tax-free. The income it generates? That's a different story. All of this on today's Top of the Morning. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ever wondered what it's like to explore the French countryside on horseback and by foot? In From the French Countryside to Classical Concerts in Paris, host Annie Sargent chats with Casey and Molly, two sisters who share their recent adventures through rural France. This episode is packed with off-the-beaten-path ideas for travelers who love nature, history, and cultural surprises. Listen to this episode ad-free The sisters didn't just pass through France—they immersed themselves in it. They stayed at Mas de Peyrelongue, a welcoming equestrian farm where visitors can ride horses "à la carte" while practicing their French with the hosts. For hikers, they found a gem: the Abbey of Sainte-Eulalie Espagnac, a peaceful stop along a local trail where walkers can rest for the night. They also visited the Château d'Ygrande in the Auvergne, a gorgeous countryside retreat with an elegant restaurant—perfect for relaxing in a beautiful natural setting. But their journey didn't stop there. After their rural adventures, they returned to Paris for a very different kind of experience: a classical concert at Sainte-Chapelle and a stroll through the Marais. This episode is a great listen for travelers looking for slower, more personal ways to enjoy France. Whether you're planning your next trip or just dreaming of France, don't miss this story. We call a thing a thing.   On the lighter side: Market Days stamina checks, Wimbledon queues and champagne with Grandma, and Mariah Carey teasing “Sugar Sweet” ahead of her Sept. 26 drop—Dawon gives not one but three damns.   Like, comment, subscribe, leave a review, and get your cups ready for Minoritea Report!   Time Stamps: 00:00 Website Updates and Merch Store Launch 00:19 Adventures in Barcelona 02:30 Europe 05:49 Wimbledon Experience and American Comparisons 12:06 Family Connections and Personal Growth 17:43 Travel Adventures and Communitea Connections 22:37 Reflections on Pride and Community Engagement 25:22 San Diego Pride 31:14 Aunteas Do You Give A Damn: Transgender Athletes 38:35 Pop Culture Feuds: SZA vs. Nicki Minaj 42:45 Colbert Cancelled 46:47 Mariah Carey's Upcoming Album 52:07 Laverne Cox & MAGA Boyfriend 59:24 Remembering Malcolm Jamal Warner 01:03:46 Venus Williams' Return to Tennis 01:07:14 Ginger Minj's Drag Race Victory and Controversy     MERCH: MinoriteaReport.com   Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo_xKK1VRhPrVMQxm1SzTCg   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/minoriteareport/   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MinoriTeaReport/   Twitter: https://twitter.com/MTeaReport   Email Us- AYA@minoriTeaReport.com
