Maryland Governor Wes Moore has overseen one of the steepest homicide drops in America. Baltimore, long plagued by 300-plus murders a year, has seen killings fall more than 40 percent since 2023. In this archived conversation, Moore explains how a data-driven, all-of-the-above approach—boosting local police, investing in technology, and supporting victims—helped reshape the city's fight against violent crime. Plus: Mike Pesca's spiel takes on the bizarre press orbit around Laura Loomer, a figure whose influence is as erratic as her antics. From dog food taste-tests to Shakespeare protests to depositions about Arby's, coverage of Loomer often reveals more about the media's hunger for spectacle than about her. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts: ihr.fm/3InlkL8 100 Days of Trump Clay Travis and Buck Sexton dive into a variety of significant topics, starting with the first 100 days of President Trump's second term. They discuss the transformative and fast-paced changes under Trump 2.0, highlighting major investment commitments totaling over $5 trillion from companies like Apple, Nvidia, TSMC, OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank. These investments are expected to generate over 451,000 high-paying jobs, surpassing the achievements of the previous administration. The conversation shifts to the upcoming Vice President JD Vance in the second hour. The hosts express their excitement about discussing key issues such as men's and women's sports, tariffs, the border, and the Trump administration's economic policies. They also touch on the Philadelphia Eagles' visit to the White House and briefly mention the Canadian election results, expressing limited interest in Canadian politics. The hosts analyze the impact of Trump's policies on the economy, emphasizing the importance of maximizing energy production and securing significant trade deals. They debate the potential re-election scenarios for past presidents like Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Ronald Reagan, speculating on their chances if they had been eligible to run for a third term. VP JD Vance Clay and Buck interview Vice President JD Vance. Vance discusses the first 100 days of the Trump-Vance administration, focusing on the success in securing the border, the challenges posed by far-left judges, and the efforts to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse within the government. He also addresses the issue of men competing in women's sports and defends the administration's tariff policies. After Vance's segment, the hosts continue to explore various political and social issues. They discuss the potential presidential candidates for the 2028 election, including Maryland Governor Wes Moore and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. The conversation includes speculation about the future of the Democratic Party and the challenges faced by certain candidates due to their backgrounds, including former Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Governor JB Pritzker. The Power of Perception Speaker Mike Johnson praises President Trump's accomplishments in the first 100 days of his second term. Johnson highlights achievements such as removing men from women's sports, ending DEI in the federal government and military, expanding oil and gas extraction, securing trillions in new investments, and combating antisemitism on college campuses. The hosts discuss Senator Tommy Tuberville's enthusiastic support for Trump's performance, grading it an A+. They contrast this with CNN's Harry Enten's analysis, which points out Trump's lower approval ratings compared to his first term and other presidents. Clay and Buck argue that poll numbers are less relevant since Trump is not running for re-election and emphasize the importance of his policy actions over approval ratings. Economic Reality The conversation shifts to the administration's focus on economic issues, particularly inflation. Clay highlights a poll showing that 44% of Americans consider inflation their top economic concern. They discuss the importance of reducing the cost of goods and maintaining economic stability to ensure public support. Today's boys and young men are having a tough time. By several measures of success and happiness, they're struggling to keep up and turning to the internet for help, where many end up hooked by extremists. We need to find better ways to frame the problem, support them and push them in the right direction. The solution starts with a frank conversation about what's really going on, according to the experts on this panel from the 2024 Aspen Ideas Festival. Richard Reeves founded the American Institute for Boys and Men and wrote “Of Boys and Men: Why the Modern Male is Struggling, Why It Matters and What To Do About It,” in 2022. He's joined by Michael Strautmanis of the Obama Foundation and My Brother's Keeper Alliance, along with Maryland Governor Wes Moore. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi were fighting for an abbreviated primary—fearing that Harris was incapable of winning a presidential election. Parnes and Allen report that Obama's ideal ticket would have featured Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Maryland Governor Wes Moore. 3:30pm- Hollywood actor Val Kilmer has died at the age of 65 from pneumonia. Amazingly, Kilmer was never nominated for an Oscar—not even for his performance as Doc Holiday in Tombstone. Justin points out that Kilmer was nominated for an MTV Movie Award—but, somehow, he didn't even win that despite the incredible performance! 3:50pm- On Monday night at 7:00pm ET, Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) began a speech from the Senate floor to protest the Trump Administration and its policies—claiming the administration has “inflicted pain” and rejected “common decency.” The speech ended 25-hours later—breaking Strom Thurmond's 24 hour and 18-minute record set while filibustering the Civil Rights Act of 1957. In preparation for the speech, the New York Times reports that Booker hadn't eaten since Friday and hadn't had anything to drink since Sunday—as he wasn't permitted to leave the Senate floor to use the restroom during his speech. The Times also noted that Booker's marathon speech actually delayed a planned vote on a Democrat-led bill reversing President Donald Trump's tariffs on Canadian imports.
