It's been a good minute! We're excited to drop our latest conversation on Bookie, an underrated sitcom-series on Max created by Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay. The show basically follows Danny (Sebastian Maniscalco), a bookie, and Ray (Omar Dorsey), his muscle, as they deal with an unorthodox profession in Los Angeles. Shenanigans ensue in the form of unstable clients, greedy family members, and random imbroglios. It's funny, filled with clever banter, and quite observant of Los Angeles culture; sadly, it was cancelled prematurely. We talk about its merits and lament the impatience of modern studios/platforms when it comes to letting shows find their audience. Enjoy!
Our TGIF (Thank Goodness It’s Feline) journey continues when the gang hangs out with one of the most interesting men in the world: Nick Bakay, the voice of Salem the cat from Sabrina the Teenage Witch! Nick takes us through his legendary comedy career, from writing In Living Color to appearing on Seinfeld to creating Paul Blart. And yes, we go deep into the iconic enchanted cat that forced our hosts back in time. All this, and Danielle got a Dough Dealer, on Pod Meets World! The LA-based comedy about a bookie with strange clients ran eight episodes and has already been renewed for season 2, but just how good is the show? Hollywood producer and writer Nick Bakay takes a break from shooting season two of "Bookie" to join "Tim Graham And Friends" brought to you by CTBK. The Buffalo native discusses O.J. Simpson's legacy, how Stefon Diggs was to the Bills what David Lee Roth was to Van Halen and the late Norm MacDonald.
Nick Bakay either acted in, or wrote for, some of the most popular shows of the 1990s and 2000s, including "The King of Queens" (CBS 1998-2007), "That 70s Show" (Fox 1998-2006), and "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" (ABC 1996-2003). His first big break came in the late 1980s when he became a contributing editor for National Lampoon, which led to TV writing gigs on shows like "In Living Color" (Fox 1990-94) and the short-lived "The Dennis Miller Show" (Syndicated 1992). By the late '90s and early 2000s, Bakay had also assumed a lengthy acting resume as well, having landed plum guest spots on shows like "Seinfeld" (NBC 1989-1998), "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch," and "The King of Queens." In 2013 Bakay started writing for, acting in, and executive producing the sitcom "Mom" and recently co-created HBO Max's "Bookie".

It's very rare when someone is able to star in back to back hit television shows but Melissa Joan Hart was able to do just that when shortly after wrapping up "Clarissa Explains It All" went on to star in this weeks episode, "Sabrina The Teenage Witch". The show chronicles the adventures of Sabrina Spellman, a girl who discovers on her 16th birthday that she is a witch. The show, which was based on the Archie Comics series of the same name was a near instant hit and ended up with a seven season run. So with that in mind a sitcom about a witch living in Massachusetts seemed like the perfect Halloween episode for this year. Will the boys give this one a green-light or are they just too far removed from when we were the target demographic. Listen as they review the pilot episode and find out. www.S1E1POD.com Starring: Melissa Joan Hart, Beth Broderick, Caroline Rhea, Nate Richert, Nick Bakay, Jenna Leigh Green. Michelle Beaudoin, Paul Feig, Penn Gillette, Teller, & Debbie Harry

Art and Vinnie sit down with Comedy Channel's power couple, Nick and Robin Bakay. - Love was in the air at the launch of the Comedy Channel back in 1989. Robin Bakay was a key member of the on air promo team whose difficult job at the time was to define this brand new, 24 hour comedy network with promos that reflected the programming. It was difficult at the time because our programming consisted of short comedy clips and old black and white comedy shorts. But Robin and her team (lled by Marc Chusid} delivered incredible, short bursts of comedy image pieces which made the newtwork look much cooler and funnier than it actually was. - At the same time, her furture husband Nick Bakay was an essential on air component of Comedy Channel's programming including writing for (and co-hosting) the "Alan Havey Show." Nick also dveloped and hosted "Sport's Montster." - Nick and Robin got married and left Comedy Central for much greener pastures, settling in LA where they continued to write and perform on "Sabrina The Teenage Witch" and "Mom" (among their many other credits.)

This week, the boys welcome guest Alex Hoffman (Dreamworks Animation) to the show to discuss the 1998 NBC television special “Exposed! Pro Wrestling's Greatest Secrets”, a program which sought to reveal all the behind-the-scenes details of the business. Everyone mocks the “Trash TV” tone of the show quite and bit and suddenly no one can stop talking narrator Nick Bakay’s “EXPOSED!” voice. Plus, Joey and Nick dissect why the show’s condescending tone and sometimes flat out falsities are completely unfair to both fans, wrestlers and bookers alike, and are curious to see whether Stephen will actually take the side of the show or not. #ConJob For full show notes, including links to watch matches, go to BoardwalkAudio.com/YouShouldLoveWrestling Follow us on Twitter @YSLWpodcast Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/YouShouldLoveWrestling/ Email us at YouShouldLoveWrestling@Gmail.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

As Week 12 approaches, the storyline has shifted dramatically in the NFL with two playoff-contending teams potentially losing their signal callers for weeks, if not the remainder of the regular season. Jay Cutler's thumb injury puts the ball in the hands of backup Caleb Hanie for Chicago. Meanwhile, the AFC South-leading Texans saw their quarterback, Matt Schaub, go down with a foot injury. Enter Matt Leinart: The former Heisman Trophy winner will get his first career start with the Texans on Sunday. Leinart sat down with Rich to chat about the big game, turning down his former USC coach's offer to reunite in Seattle, and just exactly what went wrong in Arizona. Speaking of going wrong, Rich welcomes in studio his good friend Nick Bakay, whose Bills have been in a downward spiral since his last visit just a few weeks ago. The guys try to diagnose the problems and where things went bad for Ryan Fitzpatrick and Co. They also hit on some of the hot topics, including Tim Tebow's Mile High comeback last Thursday against the Jets on NFL Network, and what it all means moving forward for Denver. After Bakay, Rich shifts gears and sits down with author Stephen J. Dubner. If Dubner's name sounds familiar, it should, he co-wrote the New York Times bestseller “Freakonomics”, which has sold more than four million copies and has also been turned into a successful documentary film. After penning a follow-up book titled “SuperFreakonomics”, Dubner has decided to take his unique approach of looking at issues in society, and turn it to the gridiron in a series for NFL.com and NFL Network called “Football Freakonomics”. Rich and Stephen chat about some of the interesting ways that common practices and theories such as “Icing the Kicker” and “Momentum” can be looked at through data and either proven, or debunked. The show rounds out with our resident coach, as Brian Billick and Rich chat on a variety of topics from around the league. Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and thanks for downloading.
