Pamela Anderson starring films. Sarah Watt, Jeremy Downing and William Chen discuss The Last Showgirl (2024) and Barb Wire (1996). We begin by discussing Barb Wire and showering it with praise (excuse the pun). We celebrate the 90s-ness of the film. We talk about all the homages and connections we noticed in Barb Wire, including Casablanca (1942), Batman Forever (1995), Alien 3 (1992), Mad Max (1979), Romeo + Juliet (1996), Candyman (1992), Strange Days (1995), and Total Recall (1990). We praise the cast, including Xander Berkeley, Udo Kier and Temuera Morrison. We discuss the production values of Barb Wire, including the visual effects, action, cinematography and other production values. Our conversation explores the criticism of Barb Wire and how the tastes of audiences shifted over the 90s, making connections to Waterworld (1995), Cutthroat Island (1995), Hook (1991) and Charlie's Angels (2000). We move our discussion to The Last Showgirl, directed by Gia Coppola. We talk about the strength of the performances from Pamela Anderson, Brenda Song, Dave Bautista, Billie Lourd and Jamie Lee Curtis. We unpack the script, the tone, the direction and the ultimate aim of the film, with differing reactions from Sarah, William and Jeremy.

„The Last Showgirl“ läuft ab dem 20. März in den deutschen Kinos. Viel Spaß mit der neuen Folge vom Tele-Stammtisch! Trailer Werdet Teil unserer Community und besucht unseren Discord-Server! New Releases: The Last Showgirl “The Last Showgirl” (2024) is a poignant drama directed by Gia Coppola and written by Kate Gersten. Starring Pamela Anderson in a career-defining role as Shelly Gardner, the film explores the struggles of a seasoned Las Vegas showgirl grappling with the impending closure of her long-running revue, Le Razzle Dazzle. Jamie Lee Curtis delivers a standout performance as Annette, Shelly's best friend and confidante, while Dave Bautista and Billie Lourd bring depth as the show's producer and Shelly's estranged daughter, respectively. Better Man “Better Man” (2024) is an innovative biographical musical film about British pop star Robbie Williams, directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman). The film's bold narrative choice to portray Williams as a CGI chimpanzee—motion-captured by Jonno Davies—adds a surreal twist to this exploration of his rise to fame with Take That, solo career, and personal struggles with addiction and depression. A Complete Unknown James Mangold's A Complete Unknown (2024) chronicles the early career of Bob Dylan, culminating in his controversial electric performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. Timothée Chalamet delivers a mesmerizing performance as Dylan, performing all the music live. The ensemble cast includes Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Elle Fanning as Dylan's girlfriend, and Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez. This film is a must-watch for Dylan fans and music lovers alike. Classic Revisit: I'm Not There I'm Not There (2007) remains a unique and experimental biopic about Bob Dylan. Directed by Todd Haynes, the film features six different actors—including Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, and Heath Ledger—portraying various facets of Dylan's enigmatic persona. Its kaleidoscopic storytelling and creative structure offer an unparalleled cinematic experience. A French production adapted from Audiard's opera libretto, which was loosely based on Boris Razon's 2018 novel Écoute, the film stars Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz, Mark Ivanir, and Édgar Ramírez. The story follows a Mexican cartel leader (Gascón) who enlists a lawyer (Saldaña) to help facilitate their transition into a woman to escape their criminal life. Featuring original songs by Camille, a score by Clément Ducol, and choreography by Damien Jalet, the film was shot in Île-de-France from May to July 2023.Premiering at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Emilia Pérez received international acclaim for its lead performances, direction, themes, and musical score, winning the Jury Prize and Best Actress award for its female ensemble. However, the film polarized audiences, with criticism in Mexico for cultural misrepresentation, stereotypes, and poorly executed Spanish dialogue, while some LGBTQ groups objected to its portrayal of gender transition. Despite this, it made history at the Golden Globes, winning four awards, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and earning Karla Sofía Gascón a nomination as the first trans woman in the Best Actress category. Selected as France's submission for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards, it was also named one of the American Film Institute's top 10 films of 2024, cementing its status as a groundbreaking yet controversial cinematic work.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Some may balk at this comparison, but I think it's not only apt, but is a sparkling compliment: Booksmart is a female version of Superbad. Both are about strong high school friendships and how they are affected with the eventuality of adulthood. Both show the excitement and anxiety of their upcoming responsibilities. Both have uproariously hilarious comedy throughout the entire film. The two actresses, Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever, are both charming and hilarious. Playing two academic overachievers who realize they didn't create memories in High School, they play their performances playfully and believable as these characters fumble into getting into a party run by one of the more popular kids in school. They both carry the film quite well, but it's Dever and her desire to approach and get with a crush that is more emotionally resonant. Booksmart also has great supporting performances with Billie Lourd as a uproarious standout. Her constant gag of appearing in places she isn't expected to be in offers hilarious scenes when she appears. Booksmart has all the laughs, characters and heart that Superbad has when it was released in the 2000s. In my mind, both films are equals and Booksmart would be a great film to watch as a double feature with Superbad.
Jesse Starcher, Mark Radulich and Ronnie Adams discuss the life and career of Carrie Fisher. They discuss the troubles of being a child born into celebrity, Carrie's work with mental illness awareness, and the impact her character from Star Wars, Princess Leia, had on female roles.Carrie Frances Fisher (October 21, 1956 – December 27, 2016) was an American actress and writer. She was best known for playing Princess Leia in the original Star Wars films (1977–1983). She reprised the role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017) — a posthumous release that was dedicated to her — and appeared in The Rise of Skywalker (2019), through the use of unreleased footage from The Force Awakens. After finishing the European leg of her book tour (her last TV appearance was on an episode of 8 Out of 10 Cats in the UK, broadcast December 21, 2016), Fisher was on a commercial flight on December 23, 2016, from London to Los Angeles when she had a medical emergency around fifteen minutes before the aircraft landed.[130][a] A passenger seated near Fisher reported that she had stopped breathing; another passenger performed CPR on Fisher until paramedics arrived at the scene. Emergency services in Los Angeles were contacted when the flight crew reported a passenger unresponsive prior to landing. Fisher was taken by ambulance to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where she was placed on a ventilator. On the morning of December 27, 2016, after being in intensive care for four days, Fisher died at the age of 60 at the UCLA Medical Center. Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd, confirmed her mother's death in a statement to the press. Many of her co-stars and directors from Star Wars and other works also shared their thoughts on her death.Original Airdate 12/30/2016Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsosnapchat: markkind76FB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulich
Four years ago, the release of this film marked the directorial debut of Olivia Wilde who up until this time had mostly been well-known as an actress. And she really does make quite a memorable debut with this raunchy "One Crazy Night" comedy about two soon-to-be-high-school graduates (Kaitlyn Dever, Beanie Feldstein) who are the smartest students in their class and the best of friends. As one of them just found out that they are not the only graduates in their class who are going on to bigger and better things, they decide to spend this one last night before graduation to show that they can also have "fun" with the best of them. And what results is a night of parties, drugs, homicidal cabbies, fancy yachts, and various other hijinks! Also along for the ride are co-stars Jessica Williams, Mason Gooding, Diana Silvers, Molly Gordon, and Billie Lourd.Host: Geoff Gershon Special Guest Co-Host: Isabelle Gershon Editors: Geoff and Ella GershonProducer: Marlene Gershonhttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

As of the time of this discussion, the flick has crossed the $300 Million threshold. While fans still flocked to the theater, this opening is one of the lowest openings to kick off the summer in recent years. Carrie Fisher, best known for portraying Princess Leia, posthumously received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 4. Fisher, a renowned writer as well as actor, was represented by her daughter Billie Lourd and many others. Fisher passed away in 2016 but has now joined her Star Wars co-stars and friends, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford who had previously received the honor. The event was not without controversy however as Lourd publicly lambasted her siblings for their attempts to profit off their mother's legacy in the wake of her passing. Daredevil: Born Again is the latest show to announce a pause due to the Writer's strike. Many network shows, streaming shows, and movies are falling prey to the strike as writer's ask for equity and changes in their negotiations. Pauses have also been announced for Blade, Stranger Things, the new Game of Thrones prequel ‘The Hedge Knight', and more. Those who enjoyed Denis Villeneuve's take on Frank Herbert's classic science fiction novel, Dune, were thrilled by the part two trailer that premiered last week. The director has stressed that this is not a sequel to the 2021 epic, but a continuation of the story. The Marine claims the man was threatening other passengers - but is that really a justification? But Trump himself just dropped a bombshell - saying that he will testify in his own defense. However, Fisher's siblings say they were snubbed from the ceremony. Jim Moret with more on the behind-the-scenes family feud. May the Fourth be with you, Richies! Today, on Star Wars Day, we have some out-of-this-world celebrity drama involving Princess Leia herself, the late actor Carrie Fisher. She's getting her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and while these events are normally family affairs, Carrie's daughter - actor Billie Lourd - has deliberately left her mom's sisters and brother off the guest list! There's obviously some bad blood here, and it looks like when it comes to the ceremony, Billie wants to keep them in a galaxy far, far away…See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

We were at the premiere of Ticket to Paradise, a film about a divorced couple doing whatever they can to prevent their daughter from getting married, which of course, leads to a lot of shenanigans and chaos. This romantic comedy brings together a fantastic cast, including George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Kaitlyn Dever, Billie Lourd, and Ol Parker. All were at the premiere to celebrate, including both Clooney and Roberts, who were all laughs and jokes during our interview. Clooney said they are just an old couple of exes who are mad at each other, while Roberts admitted the two couldn't seem to give a straight answer. However, things got sentimental when the two discussed what it's like working together and their immense love for each other. Dever, Lourd, and Parker all mention the massive impact of working with Roberts and Clooney -- and what they hope fans take away from the film. Host: Monica Gleberman Editor: Marianna Randazzo Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Synopsis: A man and his ex-wife race to Bali, Indonesia, to stop their daughter from marrying a seaweed farmer. As they desperately try to sabotage the wedding, the bickering duo soon finds themselves rekindling old feelings that once made them happy together. *Ticket to Paradise will be released in theaters on October 21, 2022. An actual, genuine, totally real romantic comedy motion picture is in cinemas right now and its name is Ticket To Paradise. It feels like it's been a while, and frankly, for fans of the genre, the return of all that 'Will they, won't they?' is just wonderful to see. The fact that both George Clooney and Julia Roberts are in it is the icing on the cake, two absurdly charming human beings slumming it with our Ali as they talk about shooting in Australia, 'Bat-nipples' (you'll see) and why Ocean's 13 is one of George's favourite movies. And that's not all, as they say, with co-stars Kaitlyn Dever, Billie Lourd and Lucas Bravo also along for the jet-setting ride.
