V dvorani Marjana Kozine v Slovenski filharmoniji je bil v nedeljo, 15. februarja, četrti koncert filharmoničnega abonmaja Pretežno vokalni cikel. Zbor Slovenske filharmonije je vodila Rahela Durič, osrednja nit programa, poimenovanega "Kot zapisano", pa so bila dela duhovnih vsebin – od Mendelssohna do skladateljev, ki so zaznamovali zborovsko glasbo 20. stoletja in sodobnega časa. Z zborom so nastopili tudi organist Rok Rakar, violinist Žiga Faganel in violončelistka Alja Mandič Faganel. Upamo si trditi, da pred Zborom Slovenske filharmonije že lep čas ni stal gostujoči dirigent, ki bi s tako tehnično izdelanimi, a hkrati mehkimi gestami, jasno interpretacijsko vizijo in muzikalnostjo vodil to pevsko telo. Na tokratnem koncertu je vse naštete glasbene adute izkazala mlada dirigentka Rahela Durič. Zbor, ki ga je vodila skozi duhovne vsebine in raznovrstne glasbene izraze, ji je zavzeto sledil in se občutljivo odzival na njeno natančno gestikulacijo. Tako je že uvodna svetopisemska hvalnica Pojte Gospodu novo pesem litovskega skladatelja Vaclovasa Augustinasa s polnozvočno interpretacijo ustvarila obetaven vtis. V programski vsebini, ki se je izmenjujoč gibala med vznesenostjo, dramatično ostrino, meditativnostjo in kontemplacijo, je posebej pomembno izpostaviti izvrstno izvedbo obsežnejše, tehnično zahtevne skladbe Po pričevanju pisma avstrijskega skladatelja Wolframa Wagnerja. Ta v sodobnem, mestoma ekspresivno zaostrenem glasbenem jeziku, sledi pripovednosti besedila Herberta Vogga, v katerem gre za ostro kritiko verskega formalizma in povabilo k ponovnemu razmisleku o bistvenih razsežnostih krščanskega sporočila. Ob tem je zbor ohranjal intenzivnost in jasno vsebinsko sporočilnost, ki se je ob koncu simbolno prelila v koprenasto zveneč cluster, sklepni amen. Mendelssohnovi skladbi Daj, Gospod, naj bom odrešen in Otroka svojega usliši iz niza Treh duhovnih pesmi sta predstavljali vezni člen obeh delov koncerta Zbora Slovenske filharmonije, kjer se je s subtilnim glasom predstavila altistka Ana Potočnik. V posameznih skladbah pa so se izkazali tudi drugi pevski solisti – sopranistka Urška Šemrov, teronist Rok Ferenčak in basist Žiga Berložnik. Sicer pa je bila unikatna živost večera ustvarjena z domiselno izbranim programom, pri čemer so imela pomembno vlogo vokalno-instrumentalna dela. Omenjeni Mendelssohnovi skladbi in delo Kakor hrepeni jelen po potokih voda angleškega skladatelja Herberta Howellsa so zvenele ob prepričljivi spremljavi organista Roka Rakarja. V ganljivih, besedilno in glasbeno povednih teksturah litovskega skladatelja Vytautasa Miškinisa, Na svojem ležišču, in danskega skladatelja Johna Høybyea, Psalm 151, je kot solist z muzikalno, izrazno tenkočutno igro prepričal violinist Žiga Faganel. V Davidovi žalostinki ameriškega skladatelja Davida von Kampna pa je violončelistka Alja Mandič Faganel z zborom ustvarila subtilno in poglobljeno pripoved. Koncert je tako ponudil premišljeno glasbeno pot od hvalnice k poglobljenemu razmisleku, s krono prvovrstnih, slogovno dovršenih interpretacij vseh sodelujočih glasbenikov.

Poročamo o uspešnem odprtju letošnjega Zimskega festivala, na katerem je zazvenela dramska simfonija Romeo in Julija. V Cankarjevem domu je v okviru abonmaja Kromatika nastopil Simfonični orkester RTV Slovenija pod taktirko dirigenta Gaetana Lo Coca, na odru Narodnega doma Celje je nastopil trio Janus, Učiteljski pevski zbor Emil Adamič pa je izvedel jubilejni koncert ob 100-letnici svojega delovanja. V ljubljanski stolnici sv. Nikolaja je bil 28. septembra prvi koncert nove sezone filharmoničnega abonmaja Pretežno vokalni cikel. Zbor Slovenske filharmonije je vodil glavni dirigent Stephen Layton, spored pod naslovom Navdih Palestrine pa je bil v znamenju prepleta stavkov skladateljeve Maše papeža Marcela in štirih sodobnih sakralnih zborovskih skladb slovenskih skladateljev. Odprtje nove abonmajske sezone Zbora Slovenske filharmonije, pod vodstvom umetniškega vodje Sebastijana Vrhovnika in glavnega dirigenta Stephena Laytona, je pravzaprav odsev enoletnega plodovitega medsebojnega sodelovanja. Premišljeno izbran program je domiselno spajal veličino stare umetnosti s sodobnimi zborovskimi deli. Tako je zbor kot obeležitev 500. obletnice rojstva Palestrine izvedel njegovo Mašo papeža Marcela, med mašnimi stavki pa smo slišali še štiri uglasbitve liturgičnih besedil za mešani zbor uveljavljenih slovenskih skladateljev – Andreja Makorja, Ambroža Čopija, Damijana Močnika in Tilna Slakana. Njihova dela je zbor izvedel s posebno tenkočutnostjo in polnozvočno mehkobo. Tudi sicer so se pevke in pevci predstavili kot zrelo, povezano telo, ki je kos različnim slogovnim in izvajalskim zahtevam. Za izvedbo dotičnih del je bil posebej primerno izbran prostor – stolnica Sv. Nikolaja, ki ga je poslušalstvo napolnilo skoraj do zadnjega kotička. Koncertni večer je bil torej lep začetek letošnje sezone Pretežno vokalnega cikla in več kot dostojen poklon jubileju velikega renesančnega mojstra.

He shares how this sparked his fascination and his early travels through Italy meeting different iconic wine makers. Later in the interview, Marco talks about moving to the United States and eventually finding Oregon.
