Debunking Doug Andrew's Roth IRA Hit Job Video

The Power Of Zero Show

In this episode of The Power of Zero Show, host David McKnight looks at Doug Andrew's recent video in which he implored his audience to never use a Roth IRA or a Roth 401(k) again. Andrew sees Indexed Universal Life insurance (IUL) as far superior and believes it should be the source of the vast majority of your distributions in retirement. While David likes IUL in certain circumstances, he isn't a fan of sales strategies that debase every other viable tax-free alternative in an effort to exalt IULs. For David, the video is riffed with errors, exaggerations and omissions. Moreover, Andrew's video appears to have an obvious pre-commitment to persuading you to reposition the lion's share of your retirement savings into an IUL. In the video, Doug Andrew's liking for IUL as the top investment vehicle is evident. At the beginning of his video, Andrew says that he will explain why the IUL is far superior to the Roth IRA. David believes that the choice should never be between a Roth IRA and an IUL or between a Roth 401(k) and an IUL. Remember: your tax-free strategy can incorporate as many as SIX DIFFERENT STREAMS of tax-free income, not just the IUL… And every one of these tax-free income strategies has unique qualities that set them apart from all the others. Don't forget about what your #1 goal should be: to take advantage of every tax-free nook and cranny in the IRS tax code. David lists the qualities that tools such as Roth IRAs, Roth 401(k)s and Roth conversions have and that IULs do not have. One of the unique things about IULs is that they give you a death benefit that doubles as long-term care and helps grow your money safely and productively. David touches upon what he considers “wild claims” featured in Doug Andrew's video. An example of inaccurate or untrue information shared by Andrew is that the IUL's expenses will be paid out of the money that would have otherwise gone to pay a tax… which is wrong! Contributions to Roth IRAs and IULs are both made with after-tax dollars. “If anyone ever debases a Roth IRA or a Roth 401(k) in an attempt to sell you an IUL, you should run – not walk – the other way,” concludes David.   Mentioned in this episode: David's national bestselling book: The Guru Gap: How America's Financial Gurus Are Leading You Astray, and How to Get Back on Track DavidMcKnight.com DavidMcKnightBooks.com PowerOfZero.com (free video series) @mcknightandco on Twitter  @davidcmcknight on Instagram David McKnight on YouTube Get David's Tax-free Tool Kit at taxfreetoolkit.com Doug Andrew Doug's video - Why You Should Never Use a Roth IRA Again (6 Reasons Why)

In this message, originally delivered at Northglenn United Church of Christ, Loren explores how apocalyptic fears have shaped human history, from failed predictions like "88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988" to contemporary concerns about climate change, political division, and global conflict. Drawing from Mark 13, Loren reflects on how moments of uncertainty and anxiety often feel like the end of the world, emphasizing the biblical perspective that God, not humans, directs history and brings ultimate salvation.Loren encourages listeners to place their trust in God by engaging in prayer, reading Scripture, and showing love to others, even in times of fear or disillusionment. Highlighting passages such as Psalms 46 and 91, 1 Samuel 2, and Hebrews 10, he reminds us of God's faithfulness and redemptive work throughout history. The message challenges Christians to resist despair, which denies God's ongoing presence, and instead choose hope—living in trust that God continues to work in the world. Loren invites us to participate in this redemptive work through acts of faith, love, and kindness, even toward those who see the world differently, and to find peace by focusing on what we can control while trusting in God's promises.

Catalyst is a Creative Industries podcast, from Chapman University. Each episode features Chapman students who have completed a Podcasting course through the Center for Creative and Cultural Industries at the university. Students who had no podcasting experience or technical ability in the genre before taking the course were able to contribute all the segments to Catalyst this season with the goal being that they will take this ‘hands-on' experience and carry it over to the launching of their very own series. Each episode of Season 12 will feature one to two different interviews conducted by CCI students, exploring different aspects of the Creative and Cultural Industries. We jump into this week's episode of Catalyst Sofia del Rey and her interview with Ryan Metzler. Metzler, a educator whose focus is in media production and the film industry has worked with students that range from middle schoolers to college. Metzler talks about his role in helping students to develop the vocational and creative skills necessary for those pursuing careers in the film industry. They also discuss what he sees as the importance of fostering community within his classrooms, teaching students that they must rely on the support of those around them. In closing he touches on the challenges of working in the Creative and Cultural Industries, but they wrap the interview with Metzler's advice for those pursuing a career in the arts. To close our episode this week Maya Caparaz talks with John Lacy, a veteran Film Industry lighting technician from the Bay Area who has more than 30 years of experience. Lacy's career illustrious career includes credits on such films and TV projects as Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, American Sniper, 13 Reasons Why, and Captain Marvel. Maya and John discuss how his interest in filmmaking as a child influenced him to study film in college. They then talk about John more recent projects such serving as the chief lighting technician on Freaky Tales, a film that premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and is set to be released in theaters with stars like Pedro Pascal and Tom Hanks.  Through the interview John explains the work that he does as a chief lighting technician including working directly under the director of photography to implementing their ideas for the lighting while also taking into consideration the budget that the producers have decided for the lighting department. They conclude the interview with some of John's thoughts on the influence of lighting on the acting and story of a film or television show.

Discerning False End-Times Teaching | 1 Timothy 4:1-2

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead. (1 Timothy 4:1–2 NLT) False teachers have been a problem for Christians since the earliest days of Christianity. In fact, false teachers appeared on the scene almost at the same time as the first Christian evangelists. The false teachers took advantage of the early believers' limited understanding of God's Word. Paul was often left to clean up the mess left by false teachers. In his first letter to Timothy, Paul identifies some of the teachings that were leading people astray. Apparently, some false teachers were telling people that it was wrong to get married or to eat certain types of foods. False teachers continue to cause problems for believers and seekers today. And they'll keep going until Jesus returns. The Bible says so. You may be tempted to duck the problem by saying, “I don't pay attention to theology. I just love Jesus.” Be careful. You may end up loving the wrong Jesus. Jesus warned that “false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God's chosen ones” (Matthew 24:24 NLT). The people who are most vulnerable to deception are those who don't know what the Bible actually says about the end times. Christian history is littered with stories of people who gave up everything to follow some persuasive leader to some specially chosen location to await Jesus' return. Unfortunately, the stories end with the people awkwardly returning to society, embarrassed, humiliated, and discouraged. The book 88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988 was very popular—until 1989. The most obvious way to discern between truth and fiction is to study the only trustworthy source of information. You can't swing a stick in Scripture without hitting a passage that refers to Jesus' return. You'll find prophecies written thousands of years before Jesus was born. You'll find descriptions of signs and events that will precede Jesus' return. You'll find words of comfort and encouragement. And you'll find warnings like this one: “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows” (Matthew 24:36 NLT). Study these truths. Understand the big picture of what will happen and when. Help others understand it as well. Talk to your pastor about things that aren't clear to you. Get comfortable with the truth of the end times so that you can spot counterfeit teaching. And when you do spot counterfeit teaching, call it out. Counter it the way Jesus countered the devil's temptations in the wilderness: by using the Word of God. — Listen to the Greg Laurie Podcast Become a Harvest PartnerSupport the show: https://harvest.org/supportSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

With the impending US Presidential election, we're doing some light coverage at the top of each episode: latest developments, voting tips and tricks, and spotlighting a down ballot candidate of the week: this week, we're featuring Sally Duvall, who is running for the Texas State House in Texas' 73rd district. A new conversation is brewing about the use of trigger warnings, and it may not be about what you think: is the increased usage of trigger warnings potentially causing spoilers for viewers? We get creative about the ways that streamers can address a) the need for trigger warnings and b) technology-driven solutions to prevent them from causing spoilers for general populations. Matt Smith thinks an over reliance on trigger warnings has led to certain content being limited in the range of depth and topics it can explore - have we ever seen cases where we wondered why a trigger warning was needed? Do we have Netflix's '13 Reasons Why' to blame for networks' inconsistent usage of trigger warnings to cover their butts? While we're on the topic of trigger warnings and their impact of pop culture, we have to touch on the latest developments with Sean 'Diddy' Combs, who was arrested last Monday after being indicted on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. Pam gives us a history lesson on how Diddy led transforming the image of rap and hip hop in the 90s from the raw, truthful life stories represented by Biggie and Tupac to featuring more images of opulence and wealth. Diddy's behavior is nothing new, but scrutiny of it reached a fever pitch after his former girlfriend, singer and model Cassie filed a lawsuit last November alleging patterns of assault and abuse. Do we think justice will be served, in light of the recent developments in which rulings against Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby were overturned? As always, we've got you covered with our week's best recommendations: 'Arcane' on Netflix (Laura), Footsouls (Converse insoles) (Pam), and 'Chimp Crazy' on Max (Andrew). And in this week's installment of After Dark: Surprise bitch! We're calling listeners again to ask unhinged questions, hold onto your butts! We get a solid order of operations solution to a challenging FMK question. Bravo! Mic drop: a subtle sign of a bad friend is someone who only shows up to have their needs met. BOOM! Shoot us a Text.We are rounding down a week of east coast travel here on the last day of the NAMAD Annual Membership Meeting. Today we are looking at Ford's recently announced change in their EV plans and how EVs may not be slowing down as much as some sources may say.Show Notes with links:Ford is adjusting its electrification plans, canceling its long-planned three-row electric crossovers and delaying the next-generation full-size electric pickup by 18 months. The automaker will now focus on a family of hybrid three-row crossovers.Ford's changes could result in up to $1.9 billion in costs, including a $400 million noncash charge related to the cancellation of the crossover.CFO John Lawler: "We looked where the segment was evolving, the amount of competition, the customer needs, and then, the size of the battery that needs to go in a pure EV, the cost structure, the pricing, We could not put together a vehicle that met our requirements to be profitable in the first 12 months of launch."The next-gen full-size electric pickup's launch has been pushed to late 2027.Moving forward, Lawler said EVs would represent roughly 30 percent of Ford's capital expenditure, down from a planned 40 percent.Despite talks of an EV slowdown, the U.S. market saw record-breaking sales in Q2 2024, with 18 electric models surpassing 5,000 units sold. Tesla, Ford, and Hyundai lead, but newcomers are gaining ground.EV sales hit a record 320,463 units in Q2, up 11% from last year and 23% from Q1.The 18 models that sold 5K units: Tesla Model Y, Model 3, Model X and Cybertruck; Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning; Hyundai IONIQ 5; Toyota bZ4X; Rivian R1S; Cadillac Lyriq; BMW i4; Kia EV6, EV9, and Niro; Chevrolet Blazer EV; Volkswagen ID.4; Mercedes EQE; and Nissan Ariya. As we previously reported, Tesla's market share dipped below 50% for the first time, now at 49.7%, and Hyundai Motor Group (including Kia and Genesis) claimed 10% of the U.S. EV market, outperforming Ford (7.4%) and GM (6.3%)Stephanie Valdez Streaty, Cox Automotive Industry Insights Director said: “Automakers that deliver the right product at the right price and offer an excellent consumer experience will lead the way in EV adoption.”Chick-Fil-A is stepping into the entertainment arena with plans to launch its own streaming service, focusing on family-friendly content.
