David Fishof is an American music producer, sports agent, and the founder and CEO of Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp. Listen in as David weaves his stories, shares his big heart, and guides us through his Hoffman Process transformation. In 1999, David came to the Process to understand why he couldn't "keep his marriage." He was successful in his career and knew, in his heart, that he was a good guy. His parents had been married for 50 years and yet, he'd been unable to save his marriage. David wanted answers and he was willing to do whatever it took to find those answers. Between the time he turned in his pre-work and arrived for his Process, David's father passed away. Upon Raz Ingrasci's urging (David's Process teacher), David decided not to postpone his Process knowing that it would be a potent time to do the deep work he was ready for. David had a wonderful relationship with his father. Even so, he was able to come up with a large number of traits that he'd adopted from his dad. Transforming these helped guide him closer to the answers he was seeking. Eventually, David came to see and know more clearly the passionate man he has always been. By healing the pain of his past, the confusion that had clouded his true passions cleared. He stepped into work that fed his passion and started the Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp. And, he deepened his faith, discovering he could weave his Quadrinity Check into his daily prayers. A fabulous storyteller, boy does David have stories to tell about the world of Rock and Roll, the power of the element of surprise, and so much more. Please enjoy this conversation steeped in the power of storytelling and vibrant vulnerability. Today's guest is a reminder to always do your best. It's Britt Lightning, guitarist for Vixen. Her journey to playing guitar really began after hearing Eruption in a shop and buying Van Halen albums that same day. She started playing guitar in a high school with no music program. But it DID have a guitar club. But she was the only girl and wasn't exactly welcomed with open arms. But she was dedicated and eventually became club president. She learned a lot of Metallica riffs and playing them in a guitar shop led to joining her first band and going on tour while still in high school, after some careful parental scrutiny. After that experience, she started her first all-female band. She recruited her sister on drums and they made their debut as the halftime show for a high level sporting event that I can't name in the intro. All of that led to the band Jaded, which was truly a family affair. Her sister was playing bass while her parents manned the merch table and became roadies. After Jaded ceased, she auditioned for Lady Gaga. While she didn't get that gig, it did lead to other amazing opportunities like touring the world with 4x Grammy & 22x Latin Grammy winner Alejandro Sanz. That is a wild story in itself and Britt tells it here. It also led to playing with Jason Derulo and touring with Rachel Platten. All of this led to her role as guitarist for the legendary band Vixen. But she does a lot more than just shred on classic metal. She is also a director for Rock And Roll Fantasy Camp. Britt explains what her duties are for the camp and how that led to an association with Teen Cancer America. This was such a fun discussion. I owe a huge thank you to Simon Davies of Teen Cancer America for the introduction. So make sure you follow everyone in this discussion. Alice Cooper, Slash, Gene Simmons, Rob Halford, Sammy Hagar, Anne Wilson, Stephen Tyler, Roger Daltrey, .... Imagine being in a band with any of them, now that is actually a reality. David Fishof is the mastermind of making these dreams come true. "Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp" , or just "Rock Camp" is the opportunity for people to go and engage in a learning workshop with the industry's finest performers. This isn't American Idol, or Britan's Got Talent, this is people busting out the guitar and playing along with the guys in KISS, or Pink Floyd. According to David Fishof, Rock and Roll Dreams do come true. The documentary film "Rock Camp" just recently released covers all of this, and is a very eye opening experience into seeing how these "Legends" can sit down with a normal guy, write a song together, and do something magical. It was a great movie, Rock on everyone. Hello once again everyone I'm your host Ray Shasho and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends. Brought to you by The Rock Star Chronicles Series One my new book featuring over 45 intimate conversations with the greatest music legends the world will ever know. Available now at bookbay.com and amazon.com. With a collection of over 21 albums, it's no wonder Gary Hoey is listed as one of the top 100 guitarists of all time. The world-renowned rock guitarist's first break came in 1987 when Ozzy Osbourne liked Hoey's tape enough to fly him to LA for an audition and encouraging him to move to the West Coast. In 1990 Hoey was signed to Reprise Records with a short-lived band called Heavy Bones but followed up in 1993 with a solo album and Gary's cover of “Hocus Pocus” rocketed into the Billboard's Top 5 Rock Tracks. He went on to score the successful “Endless Summer II” soundtrack for New Line Cinema and in 1995 started a trilogy of “Ho!Ho! Hoey,” a collection of instrumental Christmas classics that continues each year in his Rockin Holiday shows. Gary's release in 2016, “Dust & Bones,” displayed an exuberant fusion of blues and rock. But whatever style he plays, one thing is certain, Gary Hoey is a fiery, charismatic player who connects with the crowd. Whether he's playing scorching originals or classic rock covers, his solos are thrilling and reminiscent of Clapton or Stevie Ray in their fiery youth. One thing that remains consistent is Hoey's impassioned command of the guitar. He can attack his instrument with feral intensity and then play something very soft and achingly beautiful. This ability to mix feeling, phrasing, technique, and tone is the true mark of a master guitarist. Please welcome rock & blues guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer GARY HOEY to Interviewing the Legends … Purchase the latest release by GARY HOEY Neon Highway Blues At amazon.com Gary Hoey releases his new blues album NEON HIGHWAY BLUES on Provogue Records. Starting with 2013's DEJA BLUES and continuing with 2016's DUST & BONES, Hoey has tapped into his early musical influences and applied his own feral skills to take the format in a unique direction. He stays in the same lane on his latest endeavor, NEON HIGHWAY BLUES, steering its 11 tracks with the confidence and assuredness of a veteran and the freshness of someone who's still in the process of discovery and refinement -- with the help of famous friends such as Eric Gales, Lance Lopez, Josh Smith and Hoey's 17-year-old son Ian. "I really wanted to make sure this album had a lot of blues on it," says Hoey, who self-produced NEON HIGHWAY BLUES and recorded it at his home studio in New Hampshire. "It's funny because sometimes you can set out to do a blues record and halfway through you realize there's not actually that many blues songs. So I keep sticking to the blues and tried to get that to be a strong part of this record -- and still put some other songs there that the die-hard, long-time fans would like, some instrumentals and some rockin' stuff. There's definitely a variety here." Hoey is confident listeners will hear growth and stretches throughout NEON HIGHWAY BLUES. This album will take Hoey back on the highways and byways for plenty of touring and playing, well, the blues -- and more. While he was working with Ringo Starr he hatched the idea for the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, a retreat for amateur musicians to play with and learn from professionals like Roger Daltry from The Who and Bill Wyman from the Rolling Stones. He is now the subject of a fun new documentary called Rock Camp that details the wild and woolly beginning of the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp and the role it plays in making people's lives better. Then, the panel, Denise Donlan, the former president of Sony Music Canada, among many other titles including author and public speaker, Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman and documentary filmmaker Paul Saltzman, whose latest film is about his experiences studying at the same ashram as The Beatles in 1968, talk about what it means to be a legend.
Chris talks with David Fishof about his Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp and the new film based on his now-legendary concept.
