In this episode, we talk about vaginas, vulvas, sex and sex toys, because we can! As young people we all tend to assume that older people don't have sex, but we midlife women know better, don't we? It may be more complicated for us, for a variety of reasons, but women in mid and later life are still sexual beings and we have every right to enjoy our intimate life just as much as we did when we were younger. But we all know that there can be obstacles to this, such as dryness, pain, recurrent infections and loss of libido, so my guest today is here to help with all that, because there's nothing she doesn't know about how to manage all these pesky issues that get in the way of a happy and fulfilling sex life. My guest in this episode is the brilliant Samantha Evans. She has a background in nursing, so she knows all the nitty gritty about our intimate areas and she's the founder of Jo Divine, an online sex toy company designed to support people to enjoy sexual intimacy and pleasure by using skin-safe products and irritant-free lubricants and moisturisers. We discuss everything from how to manage UTIs and thrush to why and how to use a sex toy to maximise your pleasure. What I love about Sam is that she completely normalises what is a sensitive subject for many of us, and she's so practical and supportive with her advice. Nothing is off the table with her and it's a wild ride of a conversation, so get your notebooks ready, buckle in and tune in to hear what she's got to say!If you've enjoyed the podcast, remember to subscribe so you don't miss the next episode and please give it 5 star rating and a short review on Apple podcasts, or whichever platform you listen on, I'd be so grateful. And do tell your friends and family about it too. It really does make a huge difference to the visibility of the podcast, so that more women can find the show. After all, every woman deserves to have a happy menopause. Since the original publication date of Love Letters in 2011, Clint and Sam Evans' family has grown, totaling three heaven-born babies and three beautiful, earth-born daughters. In 2017, Evans co-authored three versions of Adventure Devos with professional writer, photographer, certified white-water rafter and hang-from-mountain-upside-downer, Eric Sprinkle. Sam's “Ad Dev” contributions, detailing vivid descriptions of leeches, the polar plunge, skydiving and chasing a wolf through the woods, focused more on what not to do in the wilderness. In 2018, Evans won back-to-back “Writer of the Month” awards through Good Catch Publishing. Her freelance work through GCP consisted of extensively interviewing people about their God stories and then writing the story teller's story for him or her in first person. In June of 2019, Evans husband Clint joined their heaven-borns after a 20-month long battle with cancer. As with Love Letters, Evans continues to convey the truth with humor, transparency and love in the midst of her grief and loss, conveying the most important message of all: you are worthy, so, so worthy of God's love. ake sure to check out this episode

When it comes to sex toys, lube and stuff designed to enhance sexual pleasure, there's no shortage of products from which to choose. But how can you ensure that what you're using isn't causing more harm than good?Samantha Evans co-founded the sex toy shop Jo Divine, and many of her customers are older. As a former nurse, she is used to discussing intimate issues, and she's on a mission to remove the taboo around older people and sex by being open and honest about her own challenges.During this frank conversation, Sam shared her expertise around choosing sex toys and lube, what to avoid and why choosing the right products can mean the difference between having good sex or ending up with a bad case of thrush or worse. We talk about some of the difficulties her customers have faced when discussing sex with medical professionals, how the NHS is not well equipped in this area, with many doctors and nurses shying away from the topic or simply providing lousy advice. If you want to check out Jo Divine, Sam has given Sex Advice for Seniors listeners a limited-time discount of 10%.Use code is SAS10 (£5 minimum spend on full-priced products excluding P&P) ENDS 06/10/23. The hospitality sector has a problem: it just can't get the staff. Businesses from bars to hotels are facing a massive worker shortage, as job vacancies in the sector hit their highest levels since records began. Last month, in an open letter to the government, various hospitality professionals warned that the sector was “close to imploding” because of acute labour shortages. And the cracks are showing, as outlets still struggling post-lockdown are forced to resort to a skeleton staff: reducing opening hours or even closing altogether. While some blame the pandemic and others point to a drop in EU workers after Brexit, figures from the Office for National Statistics suggest the industry was struggling to find and retain staff even before these events. So what's at the heart of this crisis – and more importantly, how can we fix it? Sheila Dillon assembles a panel of hospitality insiders to find out: talking to Kate Nicholls, chief executive of the national trade organisation UKHospitality; Sarah John, the founder and director of Boss Brewing, a craft brewery based in Swansea; and Niall McKenna, chef and owner of James Street & Co restaurant group in Belfast, comprising two restaurants and a cookery school. We also hear from chef and restaurateur Angela Hartnett on how kitchen culture is changing for the better; and Samantha Evans and Shauna Guinn - co-founders of the Hang Fire Southern Kitchen in Barry, Wales - tell us about their decision to close permanently because of staff shortages. Presented by Sheila Dillon Produced by Lucy Taylor in Bristol

This weeks podcast finds Jinty and Lou getting down to the nitty gritty of sex and sexual health, particularly as we age and through menopause, with this weeks amazing guest, Samantha Evans, co founder of Jo Divine an online sex toy company that she founded with her husband Paul. Sam has a background in nursing, she has written hundreds of articles for Jo Divine and the press and enjoys creating informative, practical articles about sexual health and pleasure which endeavour to normalise sex and help folk feel confident in talking about it. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge, and her personal story about the intimate health industry, women being targeted with ads for intimate washes and lubricants that contain damaging ingredients- damaging to your vagina but also the planet. Sam talks about what we should know about sexual lubricants, how to become an ingredients detective to avoid the harmful ones. You will learn how we can have good vaginal and vulva health, enjoy a healthy, fun sex life (with or without a partner) and why our vaginas should not smell like roses. Exploding candle anyone? What ingredients should we be wary of? What will cause irritation for both the vagina, penis or anus? And why bath bombs should be called thrush bombs, nobody needs a glittery vagina! Vaginal Atrophy is an umbrella term for many issues with our vaginas and vulvas and Sam aims to break the taboo and get women talking. It is very common for women to not be comfortable to wear pants or trousers, or even sit down, let alone ride a bike or a horse.... or have sex! Sam discusses why we should all have a vagina and vulva skin care regime and what it should entail to keep a healthy pH and why we should be moisturizing our vulvas, just like we moisture the skin on our face. Also why we should be checking our vaginas and vulvas just as we check our breasts. We talk Libido or the lack of, and what we can do to improve it. Sex toys that can help us and the health benefits of an orgasm! Sam also gives us her 3 tips for great sexual health and well-being. You may have also seen Sam in the new documentary on Channel 4, Sex, Myths and The Menopause, with Davina McCall. If not definitely check it out. The Foodie Collective discovers a new no bake recipe, and Jinty & Lou make a low Histamine Pesto, from Emma Ellice-Flint's new e-book. (Recipe below) Find out what the girls think of the concluding part of Glennon Doyle's Untamed in the Book Collective- Why as a society we should question our responses to forthright women and why we should not be put in a box. And they announce a new book that has been recommended by a listener, one of the collective. Jinty and Lou discuss words we might use instead of ‘middle age', and they love Dawn French's word for this time in her life, but would the droopy tits club work for you? Something in this weeks episode for everyone, please subscribe, share, follow and leave a review, it helps us and also helps other folk find us. Samantha Evans of the International Association of Accessibility Professionals, provides specific ways every meeting planner can ensure their virtual or hybrid event is welcoming to all. The growth of digital and hybrid events this year has removed some barriers that attendees with physical disabilities might have faced at in-person events. But while digital events provide a new level of accessibility — outlined in a recent episode of Eventful: The Podcast for Meeting Professionals — they also present new challenges for some attendees, which meeting planners should address. To delve deeper into creating accessible digital events, we spoke with Samantha Evans, CAE, certification manager for the International Association of Accessibility Professionals, and an accessibility advocate and specialist in certification and credentials. In this episode, she outlines why planners need to think about their events’ accessibility from the earliest planning stages, while selecting a platform provider, making staffing decisions and more. In this in-depth conversation, Evans provides actionable steps every meeting planner should take to ensure all attendees feel welcome. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
