Terry Lovelace is a featured speaker at Contact In The Desert. We had a great conversation about his two books and the experiences he has had with alien abduction. https://www.terrylovelace.com/ https://www.amazon.com/Terry-Lovelace-Esq/e/B07BDMYSHJ "INCIDENT AT DEVILS DEN, a true story ..." is a book I waited 40 years to publish. It's the true account of a wilderness camping trip a friend and I made in 1977. We were both 22 year-old staff sergeants in the USAF, stationed at a nuclear missile base in Western Missouri. We drove six hours to Devils Den state park to photograph eagles. Instead, we had an encounter with something unimaginable. It changed our lives in ways we could have never imagined. My enlistment ended in 1979. Using my G.I. Education benefits I finished college and attended law school at Western Michigan. Over the course of my legal career I handled civil litigation and criminal defense cases in private practice. I switched sides to take a job as an Assistant Attorney General for the U.S. Territory of American Samoa. From palm trees in the South Pacific I finished my career working for the State of Vermont as an Assistant Attorney General. l retired in 2011 and moved to Dallas. Our 1977 misadventure began as a simple two-night camping trip. We drove south from the air base for six hours to Devils Den state park. We avoided the campgrounds in favor of a high bluff in a remote area of the park. We came to photograph eagles and the spot we found was perfect. There was a treeline to our backs and an open meadow in front of us. It was early evening before we set-up camp and by nightfall we were enjoying a nice campfire. We were about to retire to the tent for the evening when my friend noticed three bright stars just above the western horizon. We watched them for a quarter hour and debated what they could be. We were familiar with most kinds of aircraft and there is nothing that has lights in a perfect, tight triangle. We were abducted from our campsite and subjected to four hours of terror. When they returned us we were both badly burned and suffering from dehydration. Initially, neither of us could clearly recall what happened in a clear narrative. We had bit and pieces of memories. The memories returned as years of screaming nightmares. I never told a soul about my encounter. My wife and I kept it a secret. It was just between us for 40 years. If my story had leaked out I would have lost both my job and my good name in the legal community. I was at peace with it finally. Until 2012. Why did I write this now? If I had published this story it would have trashed my good name in the legal community and probably cost me my job. I retired in 2011 and moved to Dallas. A year later I took a bad fall on a stairwell and thought I might have broken my leg. I went to the VA Medical Center in Dallas for an x-ray of my leg. What the radiologist discovered was the catalyst to publish a book. In October of 2012 I fell and thought I may have broken my leg. We drove to the VA Hospital Emergency Room to be checked-out. What was discovered on the x-rays baffled the doctors. On the first x-ray they found a piece of metal about the size of my fingernail. In the second x-ray there's a flower petal arrangement of of white objects in my calf muscle. The mystery was two fold. How did this piece of metal that looks like a computer chip and this collection of tiny objects in manage to get an inch and-one-half deep in my thigh and my calf muscle? How did the collection of objects below And, how did it get under my skin without leaving a scar? I had never injured that leg before.

Somewhere in the vague realm of his late twenties and early thirties, he lives with his brother in a small house in the woods where he taught himself how to imagine and write down worlds with orcs, swords, and magic (and sometimes mutants and spaceships). When he's not writing, he's playing video games with his best buds, rolling horribly on multisided dice, eating double his weight in food, trying out new recipes, collecting samurai memorabilia and watching as much anime and reading as much manga as humanly possible (sometimes doing more than one of these things at once). His current work includes the Dargath Chronicles novels and Dusk Mountain Blues, his scifi webseries. He's a huge fan of the fantasy and science fiction genre, including both the modern and classic works. Nothing he loves more than finding new authors all over the genre and then recommending them to all of his friends (that are willing to listen at this point). This will be his official debut in the fantasy world he has grown up in (at least in his head) his entire life.   https://www.amazon.com/Deston-J.-Munden/e/B07Q2D6948

Read this man’s bio below, he had led quite a life so far. We have a great conversation on writing and international book markets. It’s especially cool that he owns a company that does quality translations. Based on what I have read in Path of the Guardian, Paolo writes a great book in any language.   Paolo was born in Turin, Italy, in 1984 and grew up in Foggia, a small town in Southern Italy. At 16, he won a United World Colleges scholarship to complete his high school studies in British Columbia, Canada. He then returned to Italy for his BA and MA in Political Sciences. He moved to Hong Kong in 2011, the same year he published his first Italian-language novel, “La minaccia di Taytos” (published in English in 2020 with the title “The Threat of Taytos”). He spent a decade in Hong Kong working as a financial journalist and editor for prestigious international trade publications, and then as a VP for a top 5 global PR firm. In 2020, he co-founded WordRevo, a revolutionary company that aims to help writers around the world take their books to all global book marketplaces with an all-in-one translation and self-publishing service. Leslie Conzatti is a blogger, author, and avid enthusiast of all things book-related. Residing in the Pacific Northwest, she currently works as an elementary school paraeducator--leading small groups, supervising children outside the classroom, and providing in-class support for teachers. Since 2013, she has been running a writing/review blog called "The Upstream Writer", where she posts original serials, excerpts from current and past projects, updates on her writing, and featured reviews of independently-published titles. In 2016, she released her first fairy-tale re-telling, Princess of Undersea, a twist on the tale of "The Little Mermaid." What do you get when a purple bird walks into a bar? I don’t know either, ask Dylan. Dylan and I hit just about everything in this blockbuster interview.  About Dylan Roche It should have been a sign to everyone when I started reading Shakespeare and Dickens in elementary school and spent time diagramming sentences for fun. And let's just say love for language, words, and storytelling only grew from there.   After graduating from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's in English, I worried that it was going to be a lifetime of trying to find a practical use for my degree. Fortunately for me (and unfortunately for all the people who want to make cheap jokes about those of us who major in liberal arts), I established myself as a journalist and have pursued publication with local, regional, and national publications.   In 2019, my first novel, The Purple Bird, debuted with Little Creek Books, marking an exciting turn for my career as a writer. I never thought my protagonist, Archit, would become the star of his own series (I told his story! It was time to move on after that book was finished!), but I'll admit I've heard enough enthusiastic response from readers that I'm currently plotting out a series. Stay tuned. These days, I'm balancing a career encompassing all kinds of writing: journalism, copywriting, blogging, fiction writing, playwriting, editing, and even creative coaching. When I'm not at my desk, I'm usually out for a long-distance run or going on an adventure with my dog, Tyrion the corgi. https://www.dylanrochewriter.com/ https://www.amazon.com/Dylan-Roche/e/B07PFKRMQV

Playboy Playmate, Actress, Model, and soon Author Deborah Driggs share stories from her life. Whether you are reading her bio at IMDB or looking at her Instagram Account, you can feel the authenticity of her story. Her willingness to share details from her life and the lessons learned make this one of my all time favorite shows. Deb’s memoirs should be out October of 2021. The best way to keep up with Deborah is by following her Instagram Account: https://www.instagram.com/deborahdriggs/ About Deborah Driggs: Born and raised in a dysfunctional, lower middle class home in the South Bay community of Southern California, Deborah Driggs was a lonely latchkey kid whose parents both worked long hours. At the age of seven she discovered a love for ice skating and began taking lessons at a local rink, where by the age of ten, I was a competitive figure skater. Deborah learned the value of discipline at an early age: her mornings began at 4 a.m. where, for two hours she would practice "figure 8's" before starting her school day. On Saturdays, she also took ballet lessons, although her dream was set on becoming an Olympic figure skater at age eleven. By working on herself under these demanding conditions, Deborah learned self-discipline, consistency, dedication and time management skills which would help her to achieve great things in life, later on. Despite her commitment and hard work, everything changed when she was fourteen after her parents divorced and she was told she would be living with her father. Not only did this affect her career goals, but she was forced to leave private school and enrolled in the toughest public schools in Hawthore. Furthermore, her father had no interest in providing her with guidance or financial support. The divorce took its toll on her, emotionally and physically. Having been involved in athletics up until that point in her life, Deborah now had no outlet to express herself and no allowance to buy clothes, books, or food. The only option she had was to find a job that she could work after school. Her first job was working at a cemetery where she created flower arrangements and placed them on graves. That was followed by work at a fast food restaurant, and then, as a clerk in a drug store, working until midnight most evenings and then walking home, alone, through unsafe neighborhoods. Before long, her school work suffered and when graduation time approached, she learned that she was not eligible to graduate because of missed classes in Government Studies. Intent on doing whatever it took for her to meet the requirements, Deborah negotiated a deal with her teacher to write a thesis on the classwork she had missed by the following Monday. While the content of the paper may have been less than par, her teacher was so impressed with her efforts that he gave her a passing grade so that she could graduate high school. By working her way through high school, Deborah learned how to solve her own problems rather than depending on others' help. Along with her negotiating skills, she learned how to get hired for a job. Rarely, if ever, was she turned down for anything she tried out for. When faced with a challenge, she was always ready to figure out what was required of her to move forward. With her willingness to complete her coursework, she realized that she could accomplish almost anything. She also realized that she possessed the ability to negotiate with adults which created the basis of her business success in never taking "no" for an answer. Another lesson she learned during her high school years was that even if you are the minority - with less money, less education, or the 'wrong' ethnic mix, you can still make friends and find a way to fit in. Once again, Deborah's athletic ability came into play when she made it on the Song Leader/Dance Squad for her school. After being accepted at Saddleback College, Deborah quickly tried out for that school's eminent Dance Squad and made it after competing against 100 other young women. However, with her low grade point average, she was put on academic probation and told that she would be dropped from the Squad if she didn't earn a 3.0 grade average. Deborah took this as a personal challenge and with an earnestness to succeed (and not willing to be defeated), she earned a 3.5 GPA, making in on the Dean's List. And by the end of that year, she was also elected Home Coming Queen and befriended by young men and women from affluent Orange County families. I play drums in rock bands and regularly tour all over the world. A more lengthy biography can be found below. ME I was born in the 70s, which is too long ago for my liking. I've played drums in a rock band for over 30 years and have been fortunate enough to tour all over the planet. I'm sure this has been more educational than university or a 'proper job' could have been. I started writing fiction seriously in the noughties. I self-published my first book, Wicked Game, in 2010. To avoid a mental breakdown, I then started writing short stories as they're a lot easier to finish. HOW TO WRITE A SHORT STORY, GET PUBLISHED & MAKE MONEY Due to my success with short story writing, I wrote a book called How To Write A Short Story, Get Published & Make Money. You can order a free sample of the book from my website. TO HULL AND BACK HUMOROUS SHORT STORY COMPETITION I also run the biennial 'To Hull And Back' humorous short story competition, which offers the greatest prize in the known macrocosm. Part of it is cash (the top prize is currently £1,000), but there is more... much more. You'll have to check my website for full details. All the anthologies from the competition are available on Amazon and each one contains over 25 stories of 'Mirth and Legend' from some of the finest humorous story writers on the globe. VICTORINA PRESS In March 2019 I signed a publishing contract with Victorina Press, an independent UK publisher whose mission is to publish inspirational and great books while following principles of bibliodiversity. Sahara has such a cool story. Read her bio below for the details. This is a story of amazing love and commitment to seeing her husband's dream come true through publishing his works. Sahara Foley was born with a lust for the written word. Even at a young age, she could be found with her nose buried in her favorite books. Still, she never had the inclination to pen her own tales. Then she met her life-partner, Bob. They did everything together, fishing, camping, gardening. They even owned a small farmstead for a while. And they both loved reading. In Bob's case, he also loved writing. Yes, he was the writer of the family. Many nights Sahara came home from work and read the latest words he'd written that day. She fell in love with his stories and characters. One year, he made birthday cards from each of the characters from his Excalibur Series. Sahara convinced Bob to try publishing his stories. But in the late 1980's, the only way to get a book published was through traditional publishers. Alas, they never heard back from any, so Bob gave up his writing. After thirty years of being each other's other half, Bob left this world. Sucked into a void of grief, not knowing how to fill the hole left in her soul, Sahara remembered the cardboard box of handwritten manuscripts shoved away in a closet. She brought them back out into the light, and all those long-forgotten characters became her salvation. She gave them new life, and in the process, they saved her. So, even though Bob has passed on, they are still partners in publishing his amazing stories. Sahara hopes you enjoy them. I love having conversations with authors. We not only cover his book Systemic, we also solve all the issues with Social Media and the Internet. It was such a great conversation between two people that may have varying opinions, but still were able to listen to each other and understand the points. I really wish more conversations were like this in real life. Chris lives in Seattle with his wife, daughter, dog, lizard, and an unlikely number of shrimp. He spent his younger years playing music, frequenting Burning Man, throwing art parties and parades, and clandestinely installing monoliths and other art in local parks. He has spent the last twenty-three years at technology companies in the greater Seattle area. He has degrees in both Comparative History of Ideas and Communications from the University of Washington. http://chrislodwigauthor.com/ https://www.amazon.com/Chris-Lodwig/e/B082ZWNW6D https://www.diywriter.com/blog

Everything that I have read about Tosca is true. She is a talented writer and an absolute delight to speak with. Her intriguing tag line for her book The Line Between, Save the Bacon, Save the World. Want to know what that means? Listen to the podcast OR better yet, read the book. She was kind enough to send me a SIGNED copy of her book and a little swag. That put her book on the top of my “To Be Read” pile, which it took me about six hours to consume this brilliant work. DIY Writer gives her a two thumbs up, 5 stars, and a heartfelt thank you for sharing that with me. Tosca Lee is the award-winning, New York Times bestselling author of eleven novels including A SINGLE LIGHT, THE LINE BETWEEN, THE PROGENY, THE LEGEND OF SHEBA, ISCARIOT, and the Books of Mortals series with New York Times bestseller Ted Dekker. Her work has been translated into seventeen languages and been optioned for TV and film. A notorious night-owl, she loves movies, playing football with her kids, and sending cheesy texts to her husband.   https://toscalee.com/ https://www.diywriter.com/blog
