Vanuit het ecologisch en medisch denken teelt hij gezondere producten met meer inhoudelijke voedingsstoffen. Het woord Bodemisch bestaat niet voor niets uit een combinatie tussen ‘bodem' en ‘medisch. Toen Arnold van Woerkom statistieken zag met teruglopende gehalten aan vitamines en mineralen in aardappelen, groenten en fruit, was zijn reactie dat dit anders moet. Samen met zijn zoon John runt de krasse zeventiger in Bant een 24 hectare groot akkerbouwbedrijf met een missie. Hij teelt 1 op 3 consumptieaardappelen, aangevuld met gerst, tulpenbollen, uien, graszaad als eenjarige teelt en groenbemestermengsels. In plaats van schaalvergroting zet Van Woerkom in op kwaliteitsverhoging. Schaalvoordeel is volgens hem ook te halen uit samenwerken. ‘Mijn idee over samenwerking is niet zo traditioneel. De agrarische sector is gewend heel hard te werken in de eigen bedrijven, maar niet aan de eigen onderneming. Dat zou wat mij betreft wel meer moeten. Nu lijkt het erop dat de grote jongens steeds doorgaan en de kleintjes hijgend volgen. In de slag om de markt heeft de boer gekozen voor gewin op korte termijn. Dat ging ten koste van de kwaliteit van ons voedsel. Overheden, banken, afnemers en toeleveranciers van de landbouw spoorden telers aan steeds verder te gaan in het vergroten van de productie en tegelijk steeds schralere producten te maken. We consider a new problem of adapting a human mesh reconstruction model to out-of-domain streaming videos, where performance of existing SMPL-based models are significantly affected by the distribution shift represented by different camera parameters, bone lengths, backgrounds, and occlusions. We tackle this problem through online adaptation, gradually correcting the model bias during testing. There are two main challenges: First, the lack of 3D annotations increases the training difficulty and results in 3D ambiguities. Second, non-stationary data distribution makes it difficult to strike a balance between fitting regular frames and hard samples with severe occlusions or dramatic changes. To this end, we propose the Dynamic Bilevel Online Adaptation algorithm (DynaBOA). It first introduces the temporal constraints to compensate for the unavailable 3D annotations, and leverages a bilevel optimization procedure to address the conflicts between multi-objectives. DynaBOA provides additional 3D guidance by co-training with similar source examples retrieved efficiently despite the distribution shift. Furthermore, it can adaptively adjust the number of optimization steps on individual frames to fully fit hard samples and avoid overfitting regular frames. As usual, I'll start by running through some high-level financial data to update you on how The Simply Good Foods Company (NASDAQ: SMPL) performed recently, but more importantly provide context for expand strategic commentary on trends within the health and fitness snacking space. Instead of my normal focus on Quest Nutrition, I zoomed in on two trends that could help further improve the Atkins Nutritionals growth story (Return to Work and Off-Cycle Resolution Season). Fact is, the Simply Good Food Company continues to be uniquely positioned with two large-scale channel-diversified U.S. brand leaders in the attractive nutritional snacking category that's still underpenetrated. With well calculated price increases, as well as productivity gains, the company should be able to offset much of the inflation concerns that competitive brands are dealing with now. This will enable them to maintain gross margins and continue to invest in initiatives that drive growth. Additionally, the Simply Good Foods Company is spinning off $90M in quarterly positive cash flows and has an improving debt ratio that will allow it to find an attractive M&A target within the next year. I continue to be impressed by how well the team is operating against the complex environment and I continue to believe SMPL has a bright future.
