Sam & Tom sit down in the members' bar at Royal Lytham & St Anne's Golf Club to meet with Dr Steven Reid, lifelong member at Lytham and author of Bobby's Open, charting the tale of how Bobby Jones came to win his first Claret Jug. He would go on to defend it successfully in 1927, as well as winning at Royal Liverpool in 1930 on his way to completing the 'impregnable quadrilateral'. Steven's book - foreworded by Jack Nicklaus - is a captivating read and brings to life in viivd detail the struggles Jones went through, not only with his health but his temper and his putting as he clawed his way out of the 'lean years' into 7 (or perhaps 8) 'fat years', where he was unstoppable. A link to get a copy of Steven's book can be found here, and we hope you enjoy the pod! If you've enjoyed this episode, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify! You can follow us along below @cookiejargolf Instagram / Facebook / Twitter / YouTube / Website

On our weekend preview show, a title clash takes top billing, with Arsenal heading to Man City. Will the potential injuries to Walker, Ederson, Stones and Akanji move the needle in Arsenal's favour? Elsewhere Nottingham Forest are newly in the relegation zone after their points deduction. They face Crystal Palace hoping to immediately break clear of it. But off the pitch, Forest assistant manager Steven Reid has been fined for comments made to the referee after their controversial last-minute loss to Liverpool. Ian and Chris take a look at those comments and ask how Reid has got away with them so lightly. Chelsea welcome Burnley to Stamford Bridge, a game with several subplots. Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku impressed in internationals midweek, highlighting the centre forward gap at Chelsea. Meanwhile injury to Sam Johnstone has opened up a goalkeeper spot in the England camp - but should Burnley man James Trafford be the one to take it? And finally, Liverpool welcome Brighton to Anfield, in what could be an audition for Roberto De Zerbi, with a vacant manager position at Liverpool this summer... Hosted on Acast. Patch is joined by long time friend Chris who has just had his 10 year wedding anniversary.  As part of his celebrations Chris hired a musician to play for him not at his house but over the internet!  This is a great example of how musicians are adapting to the current climate.  Chris gave Steven a glowing review and even gets to download the gig as a keep sake!   As a piano player, guitarist and singer, the diversity of Steve’s musical output has been wide and varied. Over the years Steve has been drafted in to play keyboards for several artists including, Mel C, Rebecca Ferguson, Corey Hart, The Overtones, Jamelia, Lulu, Tulisa, Nadine Coyle and many others.  For more information on Steven visit his webpage www.stevenreidwilliams.com
