A couple of blowouts last night in Day 2 of the play-in games in the NCAA Tournament. Fairleigh Dickinson beat Texas Southern 84-61 to advance to Friday's First Round against East one seed Purdue. The second game of the night was no closer, as Arizona State toyed with Nevada in a 98-to-73 beat down. The Sun Devils will play Friday against TCU. Voters in School City of Mishawaka's district will decide in May whether to keep current taxes in place to support the system. This is a renewal vote on a funding measure passed in 20-16, and will not increase anyone's current tax rate. The money has been used to fund technology upgrades, educational programs, and staff raises. A renewal would keep about 2.7 million dollars a year flowing for the next eight years. The vote comes in the May primary. Sixteen new South Bend police officers were sworn in Wednesday, returning the department to full staffing for the first time since before the pandemic. The department is budgeted for 240 officers, with 247 now employed. But coming retirements this year and next will bring that number down. 51 new officers were hired last year. The U-S State Department says a collision between a Russian fighter jet and a U-S drone over the Black Sea was likely accidental. A spokesman called the Russian pilot incompetent as he and a colleague shadowed the drone, which was gathering intelligence on Russia from over international waters. The drone is in deep water, and it's not clear if it can be recovered. The Russians say they will try. NCAA Tournament scores from Wednesday: Fairleigh Dickinson over Texas Southern, 84-61, and Arizona State dominated Nevada, 98-73. The main draw begins first round play today, with a total of 16 games on tap at four sites across the country, followed by 16 more tomorrow. Purdue, Indiana, and Michigan State all play tomorrow. The Chicago Bears have signed former Panthers quarterback PJ Walker, who will be added to the depth chart behind starter Justin Fields. The Indianapolis Colts have resigned receiver Ashton Dulin and defensive tackle Taven Bryan. NBA: the Chicago Bulls lost at home to Sacramento, 117-114. The Browns finished the 2022 season with one of the worst interior defensive line groups in all of football. Much of the blame for the struggling defensive line could be on the scheme that now former DC Joe Woods ran in Cleveland, however, the Browns just never had the talent at the position anyways. The two starting defensive lineman for the Browns were Jordan Elliot and Taven Bryan, who ranked at 118 and 66 respectively at their position, according to Pro Football Focus. Against the run, the Browns defense allowed 135 rushing yards per game and 1.3 rushing touchdowns per game, both statistics near dead last in the NFL. Elliott played in around at least half of the Browns snaps on the defensive line every game last season. He finished the year with 36 combined tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 3 quarterback hits and 2 sacks. In addition to Elliott, Bryan was a big part of that room this past season. He was signed to the team last off-season on a one-year contract. Bryan, a former first-round pick by the Jaguars in 2018, was brought to Cleveland last off-season in an attempt to bolster the team up-front. However, the starting duo of Bryan and Elliott simply wasn't effective enough. Perrion Winfrey was another guy in the rotation for the Browns this past season. Winfrey was a fourth-round selection by the team in the 2022 NFL draft. Winfrey showed flashes throughout the season but is still not viewed as a starting caliber defensive tackle in the near future. In order to make a push towards the postseason next year, the Browns will need to aggressively add talent to their roster through free agency, the draft and test out the trade market. Cleveland is expected to be heavily involved in the defensive tackle market this off-season. In Schwartz's past, he's almost always had a dominant force on the interior defensive line when he found success. One player who would certainly fit the bill is Washington Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne.Payne, a 5-year veteran and former first-round selection by Washington, was recently named to the 2023 NFL Pro Bowl roster and led the Commanders dominate front four in sacks last season. Over the course of his career, Payne has played in at least 15 games every season. Payne will come at a great cost, however, after finishing out the last year of his rookie deal. If Washington elects not to re-sign him and he hits the open market, Payne will likely draw interest from almost every NFL organization. A 25-year-old Pro Bowl caliber player doesn't hit the open market very often, especially at the defensive tackle position.Defensive tackles Javon Hargrave and Fletcher Cox, unless they re-sign with the Eagles, will be unrestricted free agents in March and are both extremely talented tackles who could be on the Browns radar. Cox, a six-time All-Pro, is a 32-year-old veteran who has produced at high level for a long time in the league. Cox would likely be signed to a shorter-term deal and could be significantly cheaper than other players at the top of the market. Cox played under Schwartz in Philadelphia where the two won a Super Bowl together.Hargrave, on the other hand, is a player who is expected to receive a big-time contract this off-season. Whether that is from Philadelphia or not, a team will be interested in giving the 29-year-old interior lineman a nice pay-day. Hargrave finished the 2022 regular season with several career best marks, including sacks and tackles for a loss. He tallied 11 sacks, 60 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss and 16 quarterback hits during the 2022 campaign. Hargrave would be an ideal fit for the Browns and Schwartz as a player they can rely on to wreck havoc up the middle. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

After their week of adversity and losing their star defensive player in Myles Garrett after his accident, the Browns lost 23-20 to the Falcons on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to drop to 2-2. The outcome was decided on Jacoby Brissett's interception with 55 seconds left when the Browns were trying to get Cade York in position for the game-tying field goal. The Browns had another blown coverage late in the game when receiver Olamide Zaccheaus caught a 43-yard pass from Marcus Mariota. Denzel Ward grabbed Zaccheaus' facemask making the tackle to tack on another 15 yards to the Browns' 33. Younghoe Koo kicked a 45-yard field goal with 2:28 left to put Atlanta up 23-20. Brissett took over at his 25 with no timeouts left and the drive was a disaster. Brissett was sacked by Grady Jarrett on third down and then threw the interception on a pass to Bell. Garrett didn't practice all week and his status was uncertain. Ultimately, he was ruled out on Saturday and stayed home to rest his wounds. In fact, the Browns headed into the game minus three of their four starting defensive linemen in Garrett (shoulder, biceps), Jadeveon Clowney (ankle) and Taven Bryan (hamstring). They were replaced by rookie Alex Wright, recent practice-squader Isaac Rochell and second-year pro Tommy Togiai. Garrett Bush of The Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show and Jeff Lloyd of The Locked On Browns Podcast are joined by Browns Legend D'Qwell Jackson. The Browns former captain Gives Keys To Victory in the Browns vs. Falcons preview. Falcons coach Arthur Smith knows what to expect from a Cleveland Browns offense that revolves around Nick Chubb's powerful runs. ''They're coming to mash you,'' Smith said. Smith wants Atlanta's rushing attack led by Cordarrelle Patterson to mash back. Chubb, the NFL's leading rusher, and Patterson, who ranks third, will be in the spotlight in what Smith expects to be a ''heavyweight fight'' of running games on Sunday. This will be Chubb's first NFL game played in his home state. The Cedartown native previously played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium during his college career at Georgia. Chubb says Cleveland's run-first offense wears down defenses. ''Things start to open up,'' Chubb said. ''I can't really see them getting tired, but at the end of the game things do start opening up a lot easier.''Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett says the Browns' running game is no secret. 'I mean, yeah, teams know we're going to run the ball and we still run the ball,'' Brissett said. The Browns (2-1) and Falcons (1-2) are the league's only teams to score at least 26 points in every game. 'Everybody sees the tape; it's going to be a really physical game on Sunday,'' Smith said. ''They're going to try to run Nick Chubb 500 times and we got to stop him, and we're going to try to run the ball and play our game, too.'' Brissett has disproved doubters who believed the Browns couldn't win until quarterback Deshaun Watson returns in December from his 11-game suspension for alleged sexual misconduct. Brissett threw two touchdown passes in Cleveland's 29-17 win over Pittsburgh on Sept. 22. Patterson, formerly a wide receiver and return specialist, has set career rushing highs in two of Atlanta's first three games, including his 141 yards in last week's 27-23 win at Seattle. The Browns may be without All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett, who suffered a sprained shoulder, strained biceps, cuts and bruises when he flipped his Porsche in a one-car crash on Monday.MORE THAN A RECEIVERSecond-year Atlanta tight end Kyle Pitts made fantasy players happy when he had five catches for 87 yards last week. Pitts had only four catches for 38 yards in the first two games. Smith said the tight end's value is based on more than his catches, pointing to his contributions in the running game. 'He's really becoming a complete player,'' Smith said.OFFENSIVE ROLLWatson will claim the starting job when he returns in December. Brissett is making a case he should be starting for some team, if not Cleveland. The 29-year-old Brissett has exceeded expectations, leading the Browns to a pair of wins while completing 74% (43 of 58) of his passes in the past two games. Brissett has developed chemistry with wide receiver Amari Cooper and he's spreading the ball around to make all of Cleveland's playmakers happy. Brissett believes the Browns' offense can be even better. ''The reasons why we haven't scored on every drive has been us,'' he said. ''It's been things that we haven't (done) and we're still trying to correct.''BUSTED-UP BROWNSIn addition to Garrett, the Browns had four other defensive starters miss practice this week. End Jadeveon Clowney (ankle), cornerback Denzel Ward (ribs, back), linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (groin) and tackle Taven Bryan (hamstring) were also sidelined. Browns linebacker and captain Anthony Walker Jr. suffered a season-ending quadriceps injury against Pittsburgh. Host Jeff Lloyd is joined by PFF Analyst John Kosko to break down the new talent brought into Cleveland. Deshaun Watson from a straight football standpoint is a big upgrade at the Quarterback position and should thrive in a offense that is not just him. Amari Cooper's route running should fit in well with a Kevin Stefanski offensive philosophy. Taven Bryan and Chase Winovich come in as players who should improve in a scheme that is more suited to their athletic play. The Browns arent done yet in Free Agency and getting Jadeveon Clowney re-signed would be paramount. #Browns #DeshaunWarson #NickChubb #AmariCooper #MylesGarrett #JOK #DenzelWard Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar.

Andrew Luck is injured again Unfortunately for Indianapolis Colts fans Andrew Luck is once again injured. Owner Jim Irsay said that it is a "little bone injury" even though it was reported as a calf injury. The injury for Luck will make another setback for his season and the Colts.  During the podcast, Corey and Kai'Chien discuss an article from PFN writer Eric Frosbutter about the injury to Andrew Luck. Luck is a top-five quarterback when he is healthy, and the unfortunate issue for Luck and the Colts is the setback as a team. When first-round bust Eric Ebron was starting to star and connect with Luck, he will have to gain some trust with backup quarterback Jacoby Brisset. Brisset is a serviceable backup but won't compare to what Luck and Ebron built on the field.  With as talented of a team as the Colts have, Andrew Luck will need to get healthy as soon as possible for the Indianapolis Colts to have the impact they will want to have in the AFC South and further into the playoffs.  Possible 2018 disappointments no more A second PFN article reviewed by our hosts was an article from our writer Neal Driscoll. Without giving away the contents of the article and the podcasts thoughts on it, Kai'Chien and Corey dive deep into his choices.  Amongst the group of five that Neal Driscoll picks, the most intriguing to Kai'Chien and Corey were Vita Vea (12th pick), Taven Bryan (29th pick), and of course Josh Rosen (10th pick). Of the three they choose only Josh Rosen has been moved to a different team. Corey and Kai'Chien believe that all three can come in and make an impact this season for their teams and hope for the best for all of them.  Questions from the podcast team Will the Indianapolis Colts be fine without their starting quarterback Andrew Luck? Will Andrew Luck be healthy for the Colts this season? Do you think the Colts should be looking for a quarterback in the near future? New to the show? Did you enjoy the podcast?
