Dan Devine and Trey Kerby discuss the Lakers and Pelicans, who are going home after losing in the 1st round of the NBA Playoffs.00:00 - Count me in!03:50 - NBA's youth movement10:25 - Nuggets beat the Lakers (4-1)18:05 - Lakers offseason preview27:10 - Celtics beat the Heat (3-1)33:15 - Thunder beat the Pelicans (4-0)36:10 - Pelicans offseason preview42:45 - Tonight's NBA games45:15 - The Closing Five57:45 - Weekly recommendationsOn this episode of Devine Intervention, Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer Dan Devine is joined by Trey Kerby from the No Dunks podcast to talk about everything that is going on in the NBA Playoffs. The guys start with a little bit of joy, reveling in the NBA's youth movement that is in full effect this postseason. With LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant watching the rest of the NBA Playoffs from home, it feels like the face of the league is up for grabs between Nikola Jokic, Anthony Edwards, Luka Doncic and other players still in their 20s.Dan and Trey talk about Game 5, where Anthony Davis and LeBron James left it all out on the court for the Lakers and it still didn't matter. Trey explains why the Denver Nuggets are so good in playoff situations despite lacking the same kind of star power as the Lakers.Right after the buzzer, rumors started flying about if the Lakers would fire head coach Darvin Ham and if LeBron James would be back with the team next season. The guys discuss that, as well as what the Lakers might be looking to do to reshape their roster next year. The Boston Celtics once again blew out the Miami Heat, but the big stories coming out of the game are the injury to Kristaps Porzingis and the flagrant foul that was called well after the ref's whistle was blown. As long as Porzingis can be back in time for the Eastern Conference Finals, the Celtics should be able to weather this storm. The Oklahoma City Thunder also closed out their series, a sweep or the New Orleans Pelicans, and now get to rest until the winner of Clippers/Mavericks advances to the 2nd round. In addition to talking about rest vs. rust, the guys talk about how deep (and how young) this very good Oklahoma City team is.The Pelicans desperately needed Zion Williamson in this series and never got him. What they did get was a peek at what life is like with Brandon Ingram as their best player and it could lead to him being off the team by the start of next season. After briefly discussing the 76ers/Knicks game that will be happening tonight, the guys close the show with The Closing Five and some weekly recommendations.Check out the rest of the Yahoo Sports podcast family at https://apple.co/3zEuTQj or at Yahoo Sports PodcastsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Chicago Bulls optimist Trey Kerby from the No Dunks podcast stopped by to talk about his Bulls weird start to the season. We discussed many things including the dreaded treadmill of mediocrity, who he considers part of the Bulls core, whether he would explore tanking, rebuilding or resetting this year. We then talked about if they could turn the season around by changes to their starting line up or rotation. I also pitched a trade rumor that I heard involving the Bulls and the Lakers, Sam played devil's advocate with the Bulls present and future and we tried to figure out if they could steal a game or two off one of the conference favorites if they reach the playoffs. After our convo with Trey, I gave my quick thoughts on the Sixers turning it around recently and then we discussed the first kind of real slop that dropped this season: former all star Kemba Walker signing with the Dallas Mavericks. Does it even matter? Will it help turn their season around? Is the Mavs organization fraudulent and Luka Doncic Merchants? We finished the episode with a MVP based psychosis conversation because Sam is currently experiencing the same thing that Sixers fans experienced the past two years with advanced metrics going against his sweet baby boy Jayson Tatum. There's not a ton of news going on in sports these days, and the trail and ultrarunning world is no exception. And I don't have the emotional bandwidth to turn this podcast into a stream of stories about how we're all dealing with isolation. Instead, we're going to try to branch out a little bit; one avenue I wanted to explore was interviewing some runners who are better known for things other than running. And I was absolutely ecstatic to kick off this series by snagging one of my favorite podcasters to come on the show and talk a little shop. JE Skeets is the co-host of No Dunks, a daily NBA podcast on The Athletic. This is the third iteration of the show that he and his friends Tas Melas, Jason Doyle, Trey Kerby, and Leigh Ellis, have had since the Podcasting Stone Age in 2005. Prior to this year, they produced a daily show on NBA TV called The Starters. I sat down with Skeets to talk about being one of the pioneers of podcasting, his background in high school hoops, his newfound love for running, which NBA players would make good marathoners, and more.Links:No Dunks podcastSkeets on IG (and the pod)Desert Island Picks: Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, A-Sides Win by Sloan, Wrecking Bar Brewpub Beer Flavored Vienna LagerIntro music: "Fine Line" by the BloodlettersOutro music: "When I Was Still Young" by Yard Sale
