The final race of the 2022 Formula 1 season followed a similar pattern to several others this year, with Max Verstappen leading away from his pole position to score a record-extending 16th win of the season.Behind Verstappen, Charles Leclerc took advantage of a good strategy call from Ferrari to leapfrog Sergio Perez into second place, thereby finishing runner-up in the Drivers' Championship at the Mexican's expense. But with Ferrari having made several operational errors and questionable strategy calls throughout the season, is team boss Mattia Binotto's position under threat? Joining Michael Butterworth to discuss the key issues from the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend is Dieter Rencken, Editorial Director of RacingNews365.With Perez needing to finish ahead of Leclerc to bag second place in the Championship, should Verstappen have done more in Abu Dhabi to back Leclerc up into the path of the Mexican? What can we expect from the final two additions to the 2023 grid: newcomer Logan Sargeant and returnee Nico Hulkenberg? And as Sebastian Vettel bids farewell to F1 after 299 Grands Prix, four World Championships and 53 race wins, how will the German be best remembered? All this and more on this edition of the RacingNews365.com F1 podcast!

All'ultima curva ci avrebbe provato chiunque.

With F1's August shutdown well under way, there's still lots to talk about in the world of tech for host Edd Straw and Gary Anderson, former Jordan, Jaguar and Stewart technical director, to talk about. Gary starts off with a look at the follies of Ferrari's attitude to strategy during the 2022 season and why it is not about sacking team principal Mattia Binotto if Ferrari wants to fix things.  Then it's onto a deep dive into F1 ground effect cars, starting off with the 1970s. Then, Gary was in the thick of the ground effect revolution that was kicked off by Team Lotus. That then spawned the fascinating Brabham BT46 ‘fan car' that raced only once. But what might have happened had such fan cars stayed legal? Modern-day ground effect is also delved into, including the potential for teams to unlock significantly more performance in the future despite the rule changes slated for 2023. And finally, Gary answers a listener question about whether any of F1's midfield teams can hope to join the ‘big three' teams at the front before the next rules cycle starts in 2026. The trio discuss Ferrari, who looked to have a strong weekend but was all ruined by Charles Leclerc's crash. They discuss who was truly at fault, Mattia Binotto's team or the 24-year-old's? They also point out the strategists' confusion which caused Carlos Sainz a podium finish after he made a spectacular comeback from the back of the grid. They go on to compare the Lewis vs Max rivalry to that compared to Max vs Charles this year. Mercedes are not at the top of their game but they seem to be turning up the heat on Ferrari and Red Bull, especially after a double podium finish thanks to Lewis Hamilton and George Russell with a slight push from Toto Wolff. Finally, what happened to Sergio Perez this weekend, was the team to blame for his finishing position? And how about Daniel Ricciardo?
