Lewis Hamilton walked into Canada this week and said people are trying to retire him.Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsEsteban Ocon's denial and Lewis Hamilton's pushback may be reactions to the same situation...and all the while, Oliver Bearman's patience is forcing Ferrari's hand. Why do I think this? Well, when you look back to Mattia Binotto's February 2020 statements about Sebastian Vettel and then dismissal three months later? It tells us about how Ferrari handles champions who don't deliver fast enough.Drivers don't write their own endings in this sport...Ferrari has entered succession mode while Hamilton is still speaking in dynasty mode. Mercedes helped build rules that would invite (and humble) manufacturers.Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsYears ago, Toto Wolff and Mercedes sought to secure their domination into the next era of Formula 1, after the turbo hybrid era had run its course. For 2026, two teams would arrive with Audi and Honda power in F1. One would struggle immediately and prove the Austrian right...and one wouldn't as much. Audi don't act like a completely new operation, much bigger than the Sauber team they inherited. Whilst glory isn't coming there imminently, Mattia Binotto and Neuberg have produced a power unit and operation which IS turning heads already. Vilken vecka! Support the showSveriges Snabbaste Podcast!
WHY did Jonathan Wheatley leave Audi for, likely, ASTON MARTIN? Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsOne of the weirder twists of the 2026 F1 season relates to the team principal of Audi moving to, logic would point toward, a team which is too busy shaking its drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll to pieces? On the surface, it looks bizarre...but when you think about it...the reasons DO make sense. Could it be that Lawrence Stroll's team offers a power structure more in keeping with Formula 1 tradition, unlike Audi's model with Mattia Binotto in charge? One thing is for sure, Aston Martin DO need a new leader to help refresh their public image...of which they are so passionate about. #f1 #fernandoalonso #adriannewey #formula1 #jonathanwheatley #lancestroll #formulaone #f12026 #formula12026 #astonmartinf1 #astonmartin #f1news #adriannewey #f1latest #f1teams #f1drivers #f1updates #f1drama #hondaracing #hondaf1 #honda The Aston & Audi Mess Finally Makes Sensehttps://youtu.be/kyDc3XROL2YGet 15% off at the Castore Official website with my special link: https://glnk.io/ryj2p/lawrence #AdCastoreAffCan't watch the ladder? Jonathan Wheatley is gone from Audi after just two races, Mattia Binotto is back in the team principal seat (cue the Ferrari PTSD), and Aston Martin's Honda nightmare is getting worse by the weekend. Could Wheatley's move to Silverstone signal something bigger brewing behind the scenes? Mike has a theory, and it involves a power unit swap nobody's talking about yet.Meanwhile, Max Verstappen dominated a four-hour race at the Nürburgring in a Mercedes GT3 — only to get disqualified two hours later because his team used seven sets of tyres instead of six. McLaren's title defense hit rock bottom in China with a double DNS after both cars suffered electrical failures, Pérez somehow made his Cadillac debut even worse by spinning into his own teammate on lap one, and the calendar just lost Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to geopolitics. Then we look ahead to the race every driver dreams about. Suzuka — the figure-of-eight, the S-curves, 130R at 300 km/h, and the most passionate fans in motorsport. Vettel said it was designed by the gods. Hamilton says every lap feels like driving through history. And for one episode, we're going to tell you why it's the greatest circuit on the Formula 1 calendar and why this Japanese Grand Prix might be where the 2026 season truly reveals itself. It's race week, zero filter, all the chaos.

In addition to his existing duties as Head of Audi F1 Project, Mattia Binotto will also assume the responsibilities of Team Principal. Jonathan Wheatley is leaving the Audi Revolut F1 Team with immediate effect for personal reasons. Wheatley had been part of the Audi F1 Project since April 2025. Together with Binotto, he built up the racing team at the Hinwil facility in Switzerland, which immediately scored points on its Formula 1 debut in early March. With this transition, Mattia Binotto will now assume additionally the responsibilities of Team Principal, taking leadership at the race track of Audi Revolut F1 Team. “We are grateful to Jonathan Wheatley for his contribution to the project during the crucial entry phase and wish him all the best for the future,” says Gernot Döllner, CEO of AUDI AG and Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Motorsport AG. “Mattia Binotto and the team will continue to pursue the path we have chosen with determination. Our focus remains unchanged: we are concentrating all our efforts on building a team competing at the highest level that will challenge for world championships in Formula 1 by 2030. We will continuously develop our organizational structures to achieve our shared goal in a sustainable manner.” Penske Entertainment Statement on Passing of Jim Michaelian INDIANAPOLIS (Saturday, March 21, 2026) – A statement from Roger Penske about the passing March 21 of Grand Prix Association of Long Beach President and CEO Jim Michaelian: “Everyone at Penske Entertainment and within the INDYCAR community is deeply saddened by the passing of Jim Michaelian. Jim was a leader of a small, passionate group who believed in the concept of bringing elite open-wheel competition to Long Beach in the 1970s, worked tirelessly to make it happen despite steep odds and then helped nurture the Grand Prix of Long Beach into becoming America's premier street race. His vision and energy surrounding this great event remained boundless for 50 years, as no task was too small for Jim even while he served in numerous leadership roles. Penske Entertainment is committed to honoring Jim's legacy of putting fans and competitors first as we continue to build on the strong foundation he and his staff created for a half-century in Long Beach. Our deepest sympathies are with his wife, Mary, and their sons, Bob and Mike.”

Sauber's transformation in its final season has set the stage for Audi's ambitious F1 entry, turning heads across the paddock and reigniting fan excitement.Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsNico Hulkenberg's podium at Silverstone signals a major shift for Sauber in their final year before Audi sticks its badge on it properly. Could you call 2025 its first season since they own this team 100%? Anyway! Jonathan Wheatley's calm leadership and Mattia Binotto's quiet oversight has clearly done something for the better after a year of mishaps and political drama. As a result, we've got ourselves a team who has a lot going for them, drivers Nico and Gabriel Bortoleto thriving as a partnership AND the Audi/Qatari investors very much liking what they are seeing with the upgrades brought in and increase in performance overall. This is no longer a fluke, my friend. Mercedes Reserve driver Fred Vesti and Fox Sports Mexico journalist Diego Mejia join Tom Clarkson in the Silverstone paddock to reflect on an action-packed British Grand Prix. Lando Norris won his home race for the first time to reduce the gap to his teammate and World Championship leader Oscar Piastri to eight points. What does that victory mean for Lando? How much momentum does winning back-to-back races give him? And after a 10-second penalty for a Safety Car infringement cost Oscar a chance of winning, how will he approach the next race? Nico Hulkenberg made history by securing the first podium of his F1 career in his 15th season and on his 239th race start. How did he climb from last on the grid to take P3 and hold off a charging Lewis Hamilton? Sauber Team Principal Jonathan Wheatley and CEO Mattia Binotto reflect on a ‘masterclass' drive and what this result means for Nico and the team. Also on the agenda: why wasn't Hamilton able to continue his incredible run of being on the podium at every British Grand Prix since 2014? And how did Max Verstappen go from a sensational pole position on Saturday to having an ‘undriveable car' in the wet conditions on Sunday? Let's jump right into our Quick Hits! First up, that F1 movie is hitting theaters on June 27th. Get ready, because due to insane demand, Warner Bros. and IMAX are actually expanding the Fan-First Premiere Screenings of Apple Original Film F1 to 400 IMAX locations worldwide. And guess what? We've got one right here in Coquitlam! Shifting gears to the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, it's wild to think that since 2016, only two drivers have taken the win there: Max Verstappen in 2016, 2022, 2023, and 2024, and Lewis Hamilton in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. Also, make sure to check out F1: The Academy when it drops on Netflix on May 28th. Fun fact: the last McLaren driver to win in Monaco was Lewis Hamilton back in 2008, the very year he became champion! Huge congrats are also in order for Spaniard Alex Palou for his Indy 500 win over Marcus Ericsson. That was his first-ever oval win, and he's been on fire, winning 5 out of 6 races and leading the championship by a whopping 108 points! Now, about Imola's future on the calendar... it's a bit up in the air with Madrid joining next year. Imola's contract is up, and there's talk about whether they'll get an extra year after missing 2023 due to flooding. Word on the street is F1 asked for a cool 60 million Euros to keep the race going. Just a heads-up, Barcelona's contract wraps up after 2026. On the partnership front, we've got some new big names! Pepsi has officially joined as an Official Partner of F1, with Sting Energy stepping in as the official Energy Drink, and Gatorade becoming the Official Partner of F1 Sprint. Moving onto a quick recap of the Monaco Grand Prix. If you want all the details, you can find full analysis on Wikipedia and Motorsport.com. Stefano Domenicali has actually come out defending F1's Monaco GP tire change rule after some drivers voiced their criticism. And even though some folks called it a "garbage race," the ABC/ESPN ratings in the US were absolutely massive, pulling in the largest live audience ever for a Monaco Grand Prix telecast! Our main topic for discussion today is a big one: How can we actually fix the Monaco Grand Prix? We'll be diving into some feasible ways to create more overtaking opportunities and exploring proposed changes to the circuit itself to try and save the Grand Prix. In other F1 news, we'll be asking the question: Does Lewis Hamilton need a new engineer? We'll also share the full radio exchange from Hamilton's pretty frustrating Monaco GP. Mattia Binotto has admitted that Audi "won't have the best power unit" in 2026. Plus, Adrian Newey suggests Max Verstappen will "always chase the fastest car" amidst all the speculation about a switch to Aston Martin. And finally, we'll be speculating if big things are coming for Ferrari with a new wing! And to wrap things up, a quick Spanish GP Preview! Fernando Alonso has become an ambassador for the Circuit de Barcelona, and he's pretty confident it'll be around for the next 3-4 decades, even if there are two Spanish GPs in 2026, as he sees the others as temporary. Also, F1 is reportedly clamping down on flexi-wings at the Spanish GP. Join the conversation! Follow us on X @ScuderiaF1Pod Subscribe to the Scuderia F1 Podcast wherever you get your podcasts. Everyone's watching the front of the F1 grid, but it's time to pay attention to the rookie quietly building something special at the back: Gabriel Bortoleto.Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsGabriel Bortoleto isn't just another new face on the Formula 1 grid...he's a proven champion taking his first steps with Sauber in the toughest of conditions. With no FP1 sessions, limited testing, and a car barely clinging to the midfield, Bortoleto's F1 journey mirrors that of George Russell at Williams in his rookie year. But just like Russell, who transformed those tough early years into title-contending consistency, Bortoleto is showing the same signs of focus, resilience, and long-game thinking. His work ethic has already turned heads at Sauber, with Mattia Binotto and Jonathon Wheatley both praising his maturity and technical feedback during pre-season testing. And with Nico Hülkenberg as a mentor, the Brazilian rookie is soaking up knowledge that could shape his future rise. What sets Bortoleto apart is more than just his results, it's how he's preparing behind the scenes and refusing to let a slow start define him. In a sport that often forgets about anyone outside the top 10, Bortoleto is grinding, learning, and slowly turning heads. For Brazil, he's not just a new driver, he's a spark of hope in a country still waiting for its next F1 hero and maybe could see a couple more of their own join Gabi in the years to come - Rafael Camara? Felipe Drugovich FINALLY? If you think there's no story worth watching at the back of the grid, think again. This is the kind of quiet beginning that often leads to something great. In this interview with @peterwindsor we discuss Max Verstappen and Red Bull and how long with Verstappen stay with Christian Horner and his Red Bull outfit and what Red Bull need to do to keep 4-time F1 champion Verstappen happy in order for him to stay. @peterwindsor talks about the F1 2025 and explains why he think Lando Norris should be favourite for the season and why Lando has everything it takes to challenge for the drivers' championship next year despite the massive challenge he faces driving alongside Oscar Piastri and solving for McLaren's operational struggles and inability to make key decisions at critical times in 2024. @peterwindsor predicts whether Lewis Hamilton will beat Charles Leclerc at Ferrari next year and Peter explains why F1 fans should keep their eyes on Fernando Alonso in 2025 as well as 2026 and what people fail to realise about Adrian Newey's strength as an F1 mind. @peterwindsor reflects on why Red Bull are an unknown entity going into 2025 and why a flexi front wing, mini-drs and a bespoke, track specific rear wing might not be the answer to their problems. We talk about swearing gate, and Peter Windsor talks about what the drivers need to be able to navigate press and media without using colourful language and or expletives. @peterwindsor talks about his experience with Gilles Villeneuve and the Canadian did that Ayrton Senna would never dream of doing! Windsor talks about his experience of Zolder 1982 and the tragic incident that took Gilles' life. @peterwindsor talks about his expectations of Audi and why the signing of Red Bull's Jonathan Wheatley might propel them to success sooner than even Mattia Binotto anticipates. Why it might be a good thing that Checo Perez retires instead of coming back to F1 with Cadiallac F1 in 2026.
It's the end of the road for Valtteri Bottas as Sauber picks another rookie for F1 in 2025. Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsSauber's latest announcement is shaking up the F1 world as they confirm a major driver lineup change, parting ways with Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu after a challenging season. With Bottas' F1 career hanging in the balance and Zhou facing a tough season end, Sauber is preparing for a transformative era with fresh faces in the driver lineup, including Nico Hulkenberg and rising Brazilian talent Gabriel Bortoleto. As Sauber transitions toward full Audi ownership in 2026, fans can expect big changes, with Audi aiming to bring a competitive edge to the grid. This decision also reintroduces a Brazilian driver to F1 since Felipe Massa, adding new excitement and a nostalgic nod for F1 fans worldwide.Behind the scenes, McLaren's decision to release Bortoleto shows their commitment to fostering young talent, while Bottas may be eyeing a reserve driver position with Mercedes. But can this new lineup and Audi's backing truly revitalize the Sauber team? With Audi's extensive workforce expansion and strategic vision, there's potential – but no guarantees. Mattia Binotto's leadership could play a vital role, setting Sauber on a journey toward a brighter future. ¿o no? This week On the Gravel was a dip between last week's Italian Grand Prix and our trip to Baku next week for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. In and around the paddock, the final episode of The Grand Tour airs this Friday, Mattia Binotto believes youth may be the answer for the final Audi seat, and Adrian Newey's move to AMR is being further confirmed this week. One more conversation on the flex wings used by McLaren and Mercedes, a staffing shake up at Ferrari, and Red Bull sacrificing next year's car to fix its current issues finished up our news portion. New this week was a segment centered around memorable moments, a rookie spotlight, and race predictions for the week's upcoming circuit. The week ended with recaps of EKO Acropolis Rally Greece (WRC), Lone Star Le Mans (WEC), and Formula Drift Utah to carry us over to next week at Baku. See you there!
Meg and Spanners are back to recap the Belgian Grand Prix! First, they address the unfortunate disqualification of George Russell after his car was underweight, making Lewis Hamilton the winner (02:11). Then, they discuss Russell's impressive one-stop strategy despite his loss (13:40). Next, they foreshadow the end of Sergio Pérez's career with Red Bull and break down Red Bull's replacement options (27:48). They check in on which team they think has the fastest car (39:28). Finally, they talk about recent news in Formula One, including Bruno Famin's departure from Alpine and what that means for the team (52:07), Carlos Sainz's decision to go to Williams (57:04), Mattia Binotto's choice to come back to F1 with Audi (61:22), and Esteban Ocon's signing with Haas (63:44). Round 14 of the Formula One World Championship took us to the Circuit de Spa Francorchamps for the Belgian Grand Prix with another slow burn with the inclusion of a shocking twist after the race. A masterclass in strategy from George Russell and Mercedes saw the Brit go on a one-stopper and whisper his hard tires for over 30 laps to hold off the charge of teammate Lewis Hamilton and the McLaren of Oscar Piastri right to the flag. It wasn't to be however, with Russell suffering a post race DSQ as his Mercedes was found to be underweight, promoting Hamilton to his 2nd win in the last 3 races. Elsewhere around the paddock, Alpine ran a special Deadpool livery around Spa and are debating moving to Mercedes power, Alonso came out criticizing the FIA once again, and the internet was outraged at Max Verstappen's sim racing sleep schedule. Mattia Binotto has officially joined the Audi F1 project, the points system will not be changed, and Ocon officially signed with Haas. Formula 2 coverage wrapped up a great week On The Gravel as we head into the summer break and some quality time off before the Dutch GP at the end of August. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
In the build up to the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend, a lot of time was spent On The Gravel this week hashing out the validity of the penalty points system after Kevin Magnussen escaped any investigation for the kerfuffle that occurred on the first lap of the Monaco Grand Prix last week, truly bringing into question why the system remains in place if the points aren't dished out in a cut and dry manner. Other news around the paddock centered around Haas folding their Nascar outfit and its impact on the F1 side of the business, Mattia Binotto potentially joining Aston Martin, and the impact the lap one incident with Magnussen and Perez has on the potential future upgrades Red Bull hopes to bring this season. On top of this, a new C6 tire compound is being discussed, Flavio Briatore may be returning with Alpine and a dive into the standings and destructors championship. Takes on the Indy 500, Rally de Italy in WRC, and the Italian GP in MotoGP rounded up a lengthy stint for us, out On The Gravel!
