On this episode of the Nonsense Podcast, we kick things off with a "Choose Your Exotic Pet" debate featuring a Tiger, Eagle, Alligator, or Elephant—with Henvincible repping his love for big cats and FNBob torn between looking cool or plotting revenge. Then, some light shade at Joe Budden somehow leads us down a rabbit hole of 2000s hip-hop video games, from Def Jam: Fight for NY to 50 Cent: Bulletproof and even True Crime: Streets of LA. The nostalgia runs deep before we talk about what we're currently playing—and discover that GameFly still exists?! Then, Henvincible hypes up C2E2, Chicago's version of Comic-Con, discussing dream guests, panels, and what makes it worth the trip. And finally, we wrap things up with a conversation about how being a boyfriend is a full-time job, and why FNBob relished his first weekend alone without Kelly—because sometimes, a man just needs his space! Episode Highlights:

Under luppen synas Elden Rings bortslarvade kartbitar, orientering i GTA och den undre världen i Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Spel som nämns i avsnittet: The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. 3, Metroid Prime, Fallout, StarCraft, World of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Grand Theft Auto, Diablo, Path of Exile, Hollow Knight, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Elden Ring, Firewatch, Minecraft, Miasmata, Stellaris, Crusader Kings 3, Unicorn Overlord, No Man's Sky, Horizon Forbidden West, Kerbal Space Program, The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, True Crime: Streets of L.A., The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, A Short Hike, The Sexy Brutale, Carto, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Cameron & Chris are back because this was a special request movie for us to review! This is a staple in Black households but will it still be enjoyable all these years after not seeing it? I don't know if it's because we haven't recorded together in a while but we were on ten this episode. We were singing, laughing at inappropriate jokes, reminiscing about True Crime: Streets of LA, learning about new age terms that i'm not too familiar with and there is a secret fourth guest in the room with us as well. Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we begin a new series on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. We set the game in its time and studio, and then speak a fair amount about its holistic approach to design, its fluidity, and its contextualization of game mechanics. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: Up to defeating Demon Dad Issues covered: 2003 with lots of sequels and licenses, when you launch a new IP, a strange sort of gap year, the prior incarnation of the game, emulating Tomb Raider and feeling heavy, buliding one you can learn with, burning Jordan Mechner, UbiSoft becoming a bigger player, the continuation of the series into the next generation, maintaining IP rights, rebooting with your own flavor of a thing, partnering with Nintendo, branching out with outside the box thinking, UbiSoft model of layering in content, supporting four engines internally, the Jade engine, the feeling of flying, feeling like a hero, perfecting and polishing a mechanic and getting the credit, melding multiple things together very well, using the linearity to contextually drive movement and camera, setting it in a place, the formula being copied for many years, "motion capture," rotoscoping in the original, moving from mark-up to mark-up fluidly due to blending, using transition points to drive the camera, shipping programmer art, orientalism, a holistic translation to 3D, contextualization of mechanics, basing the mechanics upon the narrative elements, avoiding cognitive load through holism, ludonarrative dissonance, writing getting out ahead of mechanics, switching discs. Kenny and Brandon spend a Monday morning watching 55 minutes of cutscenes from the subpar open-world Xbox game "True Crime: Streets of LA", in which Walken plays a cop named George that looks like Dick Cheney. As a result of mental deterioration, they spend 20% of the podcast actually discussing Christopher Walken and the other 80% talking about recycling, aliens, and various other topics. Brandon takes the brunt of embarrassment for this episode as he admits he hasn't "figured out recycling yet", admits for a second time (thanks to a dirty Ronnie) that he used to pee in Gatorade bottles when he drove for Uber, mixes up the names of several dirty Ronnies, and gets Walken's character's name wrong. All in all, a failure of an episode that we hope you enjoy.
In the final episode of Listener Request Summer Mk II, the boys delve into the gritty world of True Crime with this 2003 cult classic. Detective Nick Kang is a loose cannon cop with a thirst for justice, and he just got a new job in the super secret Extreme Operations Division. Assigned to investigate a series of bombings in Chinatown, Nick instantly butts heads with the Triad and the Russian Mob as he scours the streets for the perpetrator. Along the way, Nick's Steven Seagal-esque rampage brings him answers about an international conspiracy and even the mysterious fate of his late father. But mostly he just shoots a whole bunch of dudes.
Kenny and Brandon watch and discuss Christopher Walken's performance as a homicide detective in the delightfully bad crime thriller "All-American Murder," a film that Walken admits that he's never seen. Afterwards, Brandon thanks a couple of patrons for sending in some DVD copies of obscure Walken films, and also mentions a couple older projects he found: the 1966 play "Barefoot in Athens" and the Xbox video game "True Crime: Streets of LA."
HEY IT'S YA BOIZ HAMISH AND NICO BACK WITH ANOTHER HOT PODCAST TO GET YA THROUGH YA WEEK. Watch Dogs 2 is a really good game, Tyranny is a really good game, True Crime Streets of LA is not a good game. Buy Titanfall 2 because EA is dumb. Persona 5 is delayed, but Persona 4 is a really good game. Also, HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU PEOPLE STILL TALKING ABOUT NO MAN'S SKY?! Also, Ubisoft execs have been accused of insider trading. Some real serious shit that no one seems to be talking about. And you call yourselves 'pro-consumer advocates'. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/writingongamescast/support
We're back after a week of being busy as HELL.
