In 1976 the bestselling biography A Man Called Intrepid made the Canadian spy Sir. William Stephenson something close to a household name. The book claimed that the previously obscure Stephenson had secretly been the head of one of WWII's most important espionage agencies. Some even gave him credit for inspiring Ian Fleming's beloved fictional spy, James Bond. But, despite it's success, the book soon met with a wave of criticism from historians. The most vocal critics decried Stephenson as an "intrepid fraud" who "fooled the world into believing he was a master spy.” Was Stephenson truly an important part of British Intelligence, or was he just a Winnipeg con-man who duped his gullible biographers. Tune-in and find out how secret Canadian commando camps, stolen can openers, and the Butcher of Prague all play a role in the story.

Today,The Two Mikesspoke with international affairs expert Michael Waller, who works at the Center for Security Policy in Washington, D.C.Mr. Waller has just published a book with the provocative but all too true titleBig Intel: How the CIA and FBI Went from Cold War Heroes to Deep State Villains(available at Amazon(https://www.amazon.com/Big-Intel-Heroes-State-Villains/dp/1684513537/ref=sr_1_1?crid=RD5XCL8X5JOL&keywords=big+intel&qid=1706903589&s=books&sprefix=big+intel%2Cstripbooks%2C272&sr=1-1), Cosco and many other book sellers.)From heroic to treasonous in little less than three-five years (1991-2024), how could that be? For the CIA, Mr. Waller explained, it actually began during the four-communist riddled Roosevelt administrations, through the organization of the Agency's predecessor the Office of Special Services (OSS), led by General William Donovan, which – along with the FBI-- condoned and supported British covert action inside the United States against American citizens who opposed getting into another European war by defaming, blackmailing, setting up, and perhaps killing loyal Americans. The most flagrant and odious destruction of an American citizen was, of course, that of Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh and his organization, which was called “America First”, against whom Roosevelt, Hoover, Donovan, and Britain's intelligence chief in NYC, William Stephenson, coordinated to destroy Lindbergh and America First by falsely painting them as pro-Nazi. Since then, it seems, destroying America First organizations in America has become something of a favorite presidential hobby.European and American communists also lent a helping hand against America during the Roosevelt administration. General Donovan was given a deputy as gift by the British intelligence agency Mi6, named Richard Ellis. Mr. Ellis, at the time of his arrival at OSS, had been working for Stephenson in New York and at the British Embassy in Washington, while simultaneously serving as a Soviet mole inside Mi6.He thus acquired the perhaps unprecedented stature as a pro-Stalin spy inside the U.S. and British intelligence agencies.Mr. Wallers book follows the trail of the FBI, OSS, and CIA from the c. 1920 until today. He discusses how, over the years, the Frankfurt School, Herbert Marcuse, and many other communists grew influential in most prestigious U.S. universities, which in turn trained students in an anti-American mindset and sent them off to staff much of the federal bureaucracy, where they served as a solvent to patriotism and over decades built a bureaucracy that is now the murderous heart of the deep state. Mr. Waller's book is both an enthralling and educational read, instructing the reader how the deep-state was born, how it was cultivated, and why it has intentionally dragged the U.S. republic to the brink of annihilation.Subscribe to Freedom First Network on Rumble to watch all of our shows LIVE.In these tumultuous times of Pandemic Panic Theater, global chaos, and impending food shortages, the Biden Regime and globalists are apparently not fans of you owning precious metals. Henry Hemming tells us more about the astonishing story of the British spies who set out to draw America into World War II. As World War II raged into its second year, Britain sought a powerful ally to join its cause-but the American public was sharply divided on the subject. Canadian-born MI6 officer William Stephenson, with his knowledge and influence in North America, was chosen to change their minds by any means necessary. In this extraordinary tale of foreign influence on American shores, Henry Hemming shows how Stephenson came to New York--hiring Canadian staffers to keep his operations secret--and flooded the American market with propaganda supporting Franklin Roosevelt and decrying Nazism. His chief opponent was Charles Lindbergh, an insurgent populist who campaigned under the slogan "America First" and had no interest in the war. This set up a shadow duel between Lindbergh and Stephenson, each trying to turn public opinion his way, with the lives of millions potentially on the line.

Yes, always hilarious to say you've been somewhere when you've actually only been to Epcot Center. The trip to Orlando was quite the roller coaster of emotions. The week in review AND, the death of our good friend William Stephenson, a Juskow regular in my shows at the Comedy Cellar and a staple at the Cellar. Also, Tom Cruise, still a huge box office draw. Amazing. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Jonathan Freedland explores the parallels between recent alleged Russian state interference in the American and other foreign elections, and covert British activities of the British Security Coordination (BSC), a secret arm of MI6 founded in May 1940. The motivations in each case are very different of course but some of the methods used then and now are very similar and offer an interesting parallel. Based in New York, BSC was initially simply the MI6 regional station in North America, it's mission - to gather intelligence and to help get American aid in the form of munitions. But the greatest obstacle to getting American aid is American isolationism. America at this point is almost in a civil war of ideas between those who want to go to war; and those who do not - the isolationists. The maverick head of BSC, a Canadian named William Stephenson, soon realises they have to win the civil war of ideas before anything can happen. and takes matters into his own hands. By the spring of 1941- after the effects of Dunkirk and the Battle of Britain - Prime Minister Winston Churchill and the Foreign Office, wary of using propaganda as they know the Americans are watching out for it, come to accept that without America, Britain would undoubtedly lose the war. On the panel with Jonathan are historian Henry Hemming, the novelist William Boyd, Russian foreign policy expert Dr Alex Pravda at Oxford University; Dr Leslie Vinjamuri, associate fellow with the US Programme at Chatham House, and Sir Mark Lyall Grant, the former national security adviser to the Prime Minister. Reader: Tobias Menzies. Producer: Mohini Patel.

MARCH 26, 2017 - BUH-DUN-DUN-DUH-NUH! From the Comedy News Headquarters on the internet, it's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY, hosted by Vic Shuttee and Chandler Dean. Huzzah and Kudos, 2017! You just had your first nice week. The Republican alternate to Obamacare pulled off a historical belly flop, failing to even make it to the floor. And it seems, the rumblings of Russia only grow louder. Even as a Nuclear Option looms over the Supreme Court... there is reason for hope. Back in 1999, there are also reasons to smile: Paul Michael Mercurio continues to hit it out of the park with his Second Opinions, Colbert pokes the bear of egregious liberal overspending in small town California and the Daily Show finally books its first uh... mustachioed correspondent, with newcomer William Stephenson. And ignoring the unceremonious return of the Kilborn staple Ad Nausium, there's a lot to like here. Even if Jon is about to get his ass kicked by a recently retired Billy Joel. Sharon Lawrence, Rob Estes, Angelina Jolie, David Spade, Seth Green, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Chris Robinson, and Joy Behar guest. The Daily Show Weekly is an unofficial fan podcast designed to serve as a critical companion to the original series, which can be watched in clips at CC.com. Our thoughts and criticism are intended to offer historical reflection and enhance the viewing experience for new and old fans journeying through Jon Stewart’s seminal talk show run.
