This podcast episode focuses on transforming vague marketing promises into compelling, specific messages that resonate with your audience. Speaker A emphasizes the importance of moving beyond generic statements like "more confidence" or "financial freedom" to paint a vivid picture of what these outcomes truly look like in everyday life. By providing relatable and concrete examples, listeners can learn how to evoke emotional connections with their audience, making them more likely to engage and take action. The discussion includes practical steps for refining marketing copy, ultimately guiding businesses to communicate their value in a way that feels authentic and impactful. Tune in to discover how to elevate your messaging and effectively connect with your ideal customers. In the realm of marketing, the challenge often lies in cutting through the noise of vague promises to create compelling narratives that resonate with potential customers. The podcast explores the critical importance of specificity in marketing copy, urging marketers to transform generic statements about outcomes—such as increased confidence or financial freedom—into vivid, relatable scenarios. By illustrating what these concepts truly mean in the context of the audience's daily lives, marketers can foster a deeper emotional connection that drives engagement. The speaker emphasizes that the goal is not merely to inform but to evoke feelings and experiences that potential customers can visualize and relate to, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the marketing message. The episode outlines a clear and actionable framework for crafting more impactful marketing copy. The approach involves three key steps: beginning with a broad promise, delving into what that promise looks like in practice, and then getting highly specific to activate the audience's imagination. The speaker provides practical examples, such as describing the joy of waking up without an alarm because a business runs seamlessly or the exhilaration of checking a bank account that allows for spontaneous adventures. These concrete illustrations help to paint a picture that potential customers can aspire to, making the marketing message not just a statement but a vision of a possible future.Listeners are encouraged to avoid common pitfalls of fluffy language and instead focus on the emotional and experiential aspects of their offerings. The podcast highlights that effective marketing is about more than just stating benefits; it's about creating a narrative that potential customers can step into and feel a part of. By transforming their copy into activating statements—such as imagining a day spent fulfilling personal dreams rather than being chained to a desk—marketers can significantly increase their chances of capturing interest and driving action. This insightful discussion offers valuable lessons for anyone looking to refine their marketing strategies and build stronger connections with their audience.Takeaways: Vague marketing promises fail to connect with audiences; specificity is key for engagement. Instead of generic terms like 'freedom', illustrate specific moments that evoke emotional responses. Using relatable scenarios helps your audience visualize their desired outcomes and connect deeply. Transform fluffy statements into activating content that paints a vivid picture of success. For example, replace 'you'll have financial freedom' with 'imagine six months of bill coverage'. Encourage your audience to feel emotions tied to success for stronger connections.

The Second Phase Podcast - Personal Branding & Brand Marketing and Life Strategies for Success for Female Entrepreneurs

To grow your business without social media, you must have good copy written to resonate with your ideal client. Writing persuasive copy makes you more likely to convert your audience to paying clients. You must adhere to your values when writing persuasive copy and implementing website strategies to create an effective homepage. The place to start Don't get hung up on having the perfect website. Your website strategies must include taking action to accomplish what needs to be done, especially if you want to create an effective homepage or convert viewers to clients. Your website homepage is important. You have approximately 7 seconds to grab a website visitor's attention before they become uninterested and click away. Your website strategies to create an effective homepage must include Hook headlines The space above the fold, the banner area, or hero image as you may hear it called, is prime real estate to grab attention. It's a title that gets your viewer's attention. Not only grab their attention but leverage who you are talking to and how you can help them. Focus on the reader, who you help, and how you help them. Opt-in If applicable, offer a lead magnet, a free guide, a white paper, a case study, etc., so that you can have them join your email list, bring them into your community, and further nurture them. This goes beyond your general "subscribe to my email list" or "subscribe to my newsletter." You want to give them something. This is a great way to continue to warm up the audience. They probably need more, and the opt-in provides an opportunity to do this. First-person Use a personal approach and write in the first person. Writing in the first person is a way to connect with the reader and is a form of persuasive copywriting. This is an opportunity to share your story and your values, what is important to you. When you share stories about your experiences, journey, and why you are doing what you are doing, your visitors will connect with you. If visitors do not resonate with your copy, they will understand that you are not the person for them. Likewise, if visitors do resonate with your copy, they will recognize that you are the one who can solve a problem for them. They will align with your values and understand you are a good fit. Be the face of your brand. Share your story and connect with the reader by showcasing your personal brand. If you were once your ideal client, share that information. Most importantly, have at least one image of yourself on your homepage. Your website strategies must include a way for visitors to get to know you. In addition, to create an effective homepage, you must build an emotional connection with the visitor. Images are also important for SEO which is a key component to create an effective homepage. There are lots of good reasons to create content for your website, social media and email newsletter.  In this episode, Lorraine chats with Louis Dalton about how to write content for a very specific purpose, converting prospects and strangers into customers.  Content created for this point in your sales process needs to focus on short benefits and results.  People don't want to wait six months to lose 30 pounds. The are however likely to be excited about losing 5 pounds this week.  The trick is to think about the short term and long term benefits of your product. The long term benefits are important too, but you need to catch the attention of that prospect with the more immediate payoff.

Today, I am chatting with a fellow Kelsey about what copywriting is and how to write copy that converts without being so "salesy". Kelsey Foremost used to be on TV shows like Modern Family and New Girl before she fell into comedy and sketch writing. After doing this for a few years a light bulb went off and she decided to apply her knowledge to help people in business. I am so excited to have her on the show today!Copywriting is not just writing words for your business. It is the art and science of using your brand words, to get a reader to take a desired action. It is more of a way of thinking than it is a way of writing. It has ALOT to do with confidence! Being confident in what you are sharing with the world and really believing that what you're doing and selling has value. Then, communicate that value to people who already want to pay you. That's the secret of writing good copy, you're solving a problem that already exists. You may ask, why do entrepreneurs need to care so much about this? Words are important. The words that describe your brand are found everywhere; on your website, your marketing, your emails, your social media profiles, your bios, your podcast. These are words that represent you, your brand, or your business. Tune in to hear how Kelsey teaches her students to write copy that sells and how much I learned from taking her online course. But trust us when we say that coming up with something that not only sticks but also leaves a mark on your audience isn't as simple as it sounds.    This article will walk you through the very basics of writing copy that sticks – from identifying your target audience to creating content they can't ignore.  Who is Your Audience?Writing copy that sticks relies heavily on targeting the right audience. If you're not speaking directly to your target audience, you're doing yourself a disservice by not owning the copy space.   To target the right people, you should ask yourself:  - Who are your ideal customers?  - What are their pain points? - What do they crave?  - What do they value?  - What do they like about your industry?  - What do they dislike?    You'll want to take all of these factors into account when writing. You may also want to consider writing multiple versions of your copy depending on each audience. This not only helps you target specific groups but it also helps you stay true to your brand by making sure every audience sees your business the way you want them to see it.   Grab Their Attention With Your Headline.Your headlines are the first impression people have of your content. That being said, you want to make sure you're grabbing their attention right off the bat.    While you don't want to lie or mislead your readers, you do want to intrigue them and get them to keep reading.    You want them to click on your headline so they can read your story. An effective way to do this is by asking a question. You want people to click on your headline just to learn more about the answer to the question you've posed.    You should also keep in mind that your headlines are usually the same as the title of your content. If you're targeting multiple audiences, you can write different headlines for each.  Talk About What's in it For Them.So what do you talk about, then? What copy that sticks will always have a focus on the benefits of your product or service for your readers. You want to focus on the “why” of your product or service and not the “what”.    This helps you connect with

These days, more and more people from more and more backgrounds are thinking about writing sales copy, or actually doing it. The main reason is the number of online business has exploded. This is due in part to all the people who spent so much time at home during the pandemic. But there are other reasons as well. One important one is, a lot of people who didn't like to buy online in the past will only buy online now, if they possibly can. So, a much bigger market. Anyone who didn't start out their career as a copywriter knows that it takes some adjustments. Writing copy is hardly like writing term papers at school or even writing weak-kneed prose at advertising agencies. Copy is muscular, and it has a job to do — it has to sell something. Today I thought we could take a look at what people from six specific backgrounds need to know and, just as important, need to change about their thinking in order to write copy that works. I asked myself the question, what are the most common categories of people I've either mentored, or critiqued copy for, or done copywriting and marketing consulting for? And what showed up as the most important change they needed to make to become more successful with their copy? The categories are: Entrepreneurs… Sales Pros… Licensed Professionals, like doctors and lawyers… Experts in their respective fields… Software developers… and journalists and content creators. People from each category bring a lot to the table… but they all have similar things, within the category, that are holding them back. So I thought deeply about what those things are. Don't worry if you're not in one of these categories and never were. There's some fun and some insights for you anyway. Because at least until maybe recently, very few people grew up wanting to become a copywriter. In most families, kids didn't even know what copywriters were… and neither did their parents. So, it's never too late to find out what changes you need to make, from where you stand now, to become really good at writing copy. You'll find some good first steps in today's show. Download.
