Satan's Slave (1976), Prey (1977), and Terror (1978) There are a lot of directors out there that might not have a huge filmography, or even be that well known to the general population of film fans, even in the horror genre. So there is always room to discover them! In this episode, we take a look at three films by British independent director Norman J. Warren, who didn't make a lot of films, but we feel the ones he did make, make him a worthy subject for us to discuss. Honestly, it might make sense to read a little about him before diving into the films, or at least, do it afterwards but I think he is a good example of knowing what he had to make what he did, for us, makes them a little more impressive. You'll get blood, you'll get nudity, and a lot more than you'd expect in these three very British tales of horror. Films mentioned in this episode: Batman (1989), Bloody New Year (1987), Curse of the Crimson Alter (1968), The Devil Rides Out (1968), Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972), Dr. Terror's House of Horror (1965), Flesh and Blood Show (1972), The Godsend (1980), Horror Hospital (1973), Horror Planet aka Inseminoid (1981), House by the Cemetery (1981), Night Creatures (1962), Prey (1977), Satan's Slave (1976), Shiver of the Vampire (1971), Suspiria (1977), Thriller: A Cruel Picture (1973), Terror (1978), Tower of Evil (1972), Vampyres (1974)

Happy New Yea...wait! What? It's almost Thanksgiving. So why are the boys doing a New Years movie? Because...why not! Welcome to Episode 46 of Filmed Obscura. Justin and Chris continue the season of schlock, fun cinema with a Norman J. Warren special: the obscure Bloody New Year. Much like a Bloody Mary drink, it's many ingredients (movies) thrown into a glass and stirred into craziness. And that's not necessary a bad thing. You can grab the physical media at Vinegar Syndrome so hurry up. Why you're at it, grab a Bloody Mary, or alternate drink of choice, and enjoy this fine slice of British horror. You might be disappointed...but maybe not. Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving all!

Happy New Year and welcome to 2023! We are starting the year off the same way we did last year and talking about the 1987 British horror film Bloody New Year! Lara is IN PERSON and I'm rewarding her hospitality with "Bloody New Year", an incredibly meandering British horror film that takes place in July.
Bloody New Year, Daddy-Os. Super Chillers returns in 2022 to knock your lights out by reading Nicholas Pine's LIGHTS OUT (1993), the inaugural entry in the TERROR ACADEMY series. This one is full of squishings, crunchings, sizzlings, and outdated 1950s teen lingo. As we suffer sitting through prank-filled graduation ceremonies and the crowning of Miss Cream Cheese 1993, we ask: Who are The Potato Sisters? Do greaseballs have feelings? How precisely does one Bust a Burger? Is plagiarism worse than murder? Who quaffed Michael Myers's hair, and are they taking appointments? Katie and Jeffrey investigate all this and more with the aid of their trusty pocket computer, the Lockhart One Thousand, and a couple of microphones. Happy New Year Moongoons! We're bringing in 2022 in the craziest way we know how, by watching "Bloody New Year". This 1987 British horror movie may be the wackiest and wildest movie we've ever seen on the show. Zombies, ghosts, thugs, carneys, inanimate objects that have a life of their own and seaweed monsters are just some of the insane things that this movie throws at you. Pair all that with bad acting, no real plot to speak of, terrible low budget effects and you have the making of what might just be the perfect horrible horror movie. If "Bloody New Year" is not a cult classic, then it bloody well should be.
Hey horror fans! This week on The Horror Hosts featuring Jess and Tex we talk about the 1987 "filmed" Bloody New Year. A group of friends on the run from hooligans, along with an American they picked up along the way, end up on a seemingly deserted island with a hotel on it. Strange things start to happen as they investigate, and ghosts from the 1950's seem intent on harming them. Will the time travel twister temporarily terrorize the traumatized teens? Has the phrase "blink and you'll miss it" ever carried so much weight? Listen and find out! This episode was also live streamed at twitch.tv/commonspacegc, join us for live Q&A!
Ring in the new year with a movie about New Year's that isn't actually set during New Year's. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
When an experimental aircraft using time altering technology as a cloaking device crashes into an island resort celebrating New Year's Eve in 1959, the explosion traps the partygoers in a never-ending Groundhog Day style party. We don't see that story though. We see a 1987 group of teens arriving on the island and almost able to see the time-ghosts wandering around. Unsurprisingly these teens get picked off one-by-one. Then they become time ghosts too I guess. I'm not really sure. This thing is wacky as hell. The movie may not make much sense, but damned if it isn't full of fun nonsense. So grab your hastily made snow globes, your human body sized pressure cooker, and your best wind up Santa, and Join Matt and Tristan for my new favorite New Year's horror movie, Bloody New Year.

The boys bend time and space to learn if its better to face a group of angry carnies, a mysterious hotel full of ghosts and animated furniture, time zombies, invisible studio audiences in the trees, or some combination of all of the above. Hey Guys! It's our first episode recorded in 2021 - so we had to do another new year themed movie. I guess we should have been able to tell by the title that this was a British film, but nah... we figured it out after the movie started. Tune in to listen to us watch and discuss, the 1987 horror/slasher film, Bloody New Year. Spoiler alert, it ain't it, but our conversation during the movie is! Listen to us chat about bad ASMR, H3 Podcast live stream, how my car got flooded, fruit loopin', Capitol Hill memes, cat backpacks, loud parental sex (TW), Michael's Married at First Sight candidacy, circle jerkin' (again), my excellent documentary recommendation and of course it always comes back to Ghost Adventures. There's a lot more because this movie was THE WORST. Enjoy!

Congratulations! If you are reading this stupid description and listening to this stupider podcast, you survived 2020-- or you're a very smart zombie. To celebrate the new year, the theme for January is New Year, New Movies! That's right, and entire month of movie reviews, but do not worry, they are not new in time, just in title. Every film this month with have "New" in its name. To start, Doug and Jake discuss Bloody New Year, a movie with perhaps the best poster ripping off Evil Dead 2 of any in history. This film came out in 1987 and fun fact-- it makes no sense whatsoever. Directed by Norman J. Warren, who also directed Inseminoid, Prey, Satan's Slave, and Terror. The film itself was written by Frazer Pearce, and it is his only writing credit. Bloody New Year features songs by Cry No More, which reminds me-- be sure to send us your favorite poop-related Pat Benetar puns! Doug discusses how this film is potentially cursed, sharing both his experiences and those of a close friend. Is this movie sci fi? A haunted house? A bit of both? We discuss all the possibilities. Then, Ade and Jake talk about New Year's Evil, from 1980. The film was directed by Emmett Alston, and written by Leonard Neubauer. Unlike Bloody New Year, this film is a straightforward slasher film, and it is surprisingly competent, given how early in the slashers boom it was released. Also, they discuss how the film has aged and how the incel antagonist translates to the 21st century audience. They discuss the structure of the film, the kills, and that wonderful Stan Laurel mask from the end. What do you think? Should it have been worn the whole film? If you have not checked out the title track from the film by Shadow, you can find it here: https://bit.ly/3b9tLdV If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes, please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com. What is it with the holidays and gruesome, spree killers? Christopher and Eric return to the true crime series HOMICIDE FOR THE HOLIDAYS and serve up Season 2, Episode 8, "Bloody New Year's". When beloved Cindy Luu in murdered front of her children on New Year's Eve, it kicks off a shocking crime wave and the Edmonton Police Service are drawn into a breathless hunt for answers. Is it gang violence, racially motivated hate or a twisted form of revenge? The death toll is staggering before the night is through. Secrets, betrayal and broken families are recipe for disaster year round. But at the holidays, this toxic brew seems especially combustible. (This episode was recorded remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, which might explain slight variations in sound quality.)

This week, Chris and Kelsey get trapped in a time loop and go DF! The Classic Film: Bloody New Year (1987) "Five shipwrecked English teenagers take refuge in an island hotel that is decorated for New Years. The problem is, it's early summer, and soon enough, even the walls themselves are striking out against them” (IMDb.com). Even the director gave up on this movie, and we can see why. The Modern Film: New Year, New You (2018) "A group of old friends gather for a girls' night on New Year's Eve. But as they begin to rehash old memories, many of the gripes they've been harboring manifest in murderous ways” (IMDb.com). Part of “Into the Dark,” a Hulu Original horror anthology series produced by Blumhouse, this New Year’s episode explores what can happen when alpha-female bullies become internet influencers. Beheaded by Duck Last week's director's lottery came out with Jonathan Glazer, so this week Rob, Aidan and Graham sit down for the British maverick's sci-fi psych-out "Under the Skin". Scarlett Johansson, white transit van, Glasgow - you know the drill. A special Off the Shelf, meanwhile, sees them taking selections from Indicator's Norman J. Warren box set, to wit "Terror", "Bloody New Year" and "Satan's Slave". What kind of exploitation is this? Everything. It's Everythingsploitation. 2018 is at an end! Celebrate a tremendous year with us as we wade into a Bloody New Year! In 1959, a group of party goers celebrate at a New Year's Eve party at a hotel before mysteriously disappearing. In the 1980s, friends Lesley, Janet, Spud, Tom, and Rick are spending the day at a seaside funfair, when they run afoul of local hooligans after rescuing the American tourist Carol. Running from the gang, they take a boat out to sea, only to run aground and be left stranded on an island.[1] Stumbling across the hotel, they look for help, only to find it abandoned, with no sign of staff or guests, except for ghostly figures that appear and disappear in the distance. After some time, apparitions and monsters appear around the hotel, with even the building itself attacking the group, slowly picking them off, some who become zombies. With only Carol and Rick remaining, the ghosts of the 1959 party appear and explain that the hotel is stuck in a timewarp due to a scientific experiment gone wrong, leaving the undead guests trapped. As the last of the group are killed, they reappear as part of the original 1959 party, apparently trapped in the hotel. To kick off 2018 we chose a movie called Bloody New Year from 1987 and we had past guest Logan Earle to help us!! It had hardly anything to do with New Years Eve...or Day for that matter! A weird, dumb, British horror. We also covered some other shit i.e. the Slenderman Trailer (booooooooo) Catch us idiots next week!! ----------- Into The Minds of Madness is a (generally) weekly horror movie podcast hosted by two good pals; the horror aficionado Chris Dicker and the easily terrified Paul McWhirter. Covering the classics, the just released, the oft-forgotten gems and the train wrecks of the genre. From monster flicks to home invasion thrillers, body horror to campy slashers and everything in between. Jump on iTunes and give us a head-spinning 5 stars and write us a review if you so desire! Bloody New Year, End of Days (featuring Ryan's Arnold impersonation), Strange Days, Terror Train, and New Year's Evil! See you all in 2018 thanks for listening! There are so few New Years horror movies that you really only have a handful of options, so this year we went with the one that arguably had the best cover art, 1987's bizarre Bloody New Year! If you ever wondered what a full length Twilight Zone movie with the budget of a single episode and a disco ball full of high-grade coke would look like, then look no further. This film has a science experiment gone awry, 50s time warp (replete with sexy stockings...what? Don't look at me like that) and more loose ends than an old rug. So basically, perfect fodder for our show. Get your seams straight and join the part for the last Horror Movie Night episode of 2017!
Grab some fish and chips and a spot of tea because this week we're talking about the British paranormal horror flick Bloody New Year from 1987! A group of friends stumble upon a deserted island hotel, only to be tormented by the spirits trapped within. We'll chat about synchronized weapon wielding, using context clues to figure out British slang, and being terrorized by canned laughter in the woods.
Mark Powley gives a rare interview to share his memories of playing PC Ken Melvin in "The Bill" and talks about his career in general, including being a regular in the reboot of "Birds of a Feather", making eighties horror movie "Bloody New Year" - plus a unique big screen experience opposite Tom Hardy in "Bronson" (WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE!) Mark also talks about working with his daughter, actress Bel Powley. Mark's nominated charity is The Samaritans https://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help-you/contact-us
Join BRYAN WOLFARD and I as we check in to the very haunted Grand Island Hotel in BLOODY NEW YEAR. But beware of ugly shoes, tablecloth monsters and cheesy 80's music! Then it's off to chilly Tuscany to uncover the deadly secret of an ancient pond in NEVERLAKE.
