In episode 114 of Game Design Unboxed: Inspiration to Publication we talk with Ace Ellett, half of Bluefish Games - the company he and his wife Anna founded as a result of their love for escape rooms and puzzles. Danielle and Ace talk about what went into the fictional world of Hincksville and the character Bluefish created as a mechanism to drive their puzzle/mystery series. They discuss how to playtest escape room games, the art of hiding clues in plain sight, the importance of including a balance of different puzzles to keep everyone playing entertained, how to choose materials wisely (and cost effectively), and what makes the perfect “at-home puzzle experience”. The Case of the Curiously Correct Blueprints is an audiobook mystery, so they also talk about the different challenges to consider that were different when compared to designing a “standard” escape puzzle - although, there are no rules when it comes to escape rooms! The bluefish will readily gobble up flies, plugs, soft plastics and chunks, yet this game fish is often disparaged as a "trash fish" — the lowliest of epithets in the angling world. They're dubbed “chopper” or “gator,” sometimes said with abject contempt due to their proclivity for slashing leaders and taking off with plugs intended for the more forgiving yet revered maws of a striped bass. Editors Charlie Levine and Owen Burke have a deep affection for bluefish stemming from time as young fishermen chasing snapper blues in Long Island Sound. Both anglers love catching bluefish, but eating them, well that's a topic of much debate. Subscribe to Anglers Journal Magazine at AnglersJournal.com Sign up for our free newsletter

Thank you for tuning into the SeaBros Fishing Podcast! On this episode we have two returning guests, captains Rob Taylor and Seth Funt. If you haven't listened to our first episodes with these guys, Rob runs a charter fishing company out of Newport, RI called Newport Sportfishing Charters. Seth mates for Rob throughout the season, has a boat of his own, and runs a successful bed and breakfast in Bristol, RI. We always look forward to seeing these guys. They are both passionate fishermen, hilarious and love to nerd out on fishing theories. The coolest thing about hanging with Seth and Rob for this podcast, was seeing the reconstructed tuna skull that they brought with them. Seth's brother-in-law (@dakusbones) creates unbelievable museum quality artwork from fish skulls and skeletons, and the boys brought a 118" giant bluefin skull from a fish they caught together. It is truly incredible to see up close. It took over two years to finish and one of a kind. This conversation with Rob and Seth brought us in a bunch of directions, covering a ton of topics. We recap their 2023 tuna fishing season, chat about rod blanks and tackle, discuss how to keep live bait in perfect condition, and discuss tactics for catching giants off of the beaches of Rhode Island and in Cape Cod Bay.It's always a pleasure to sit down with a couple of fun, like minded fishermen from our neck of the woods. Capt. Sarah Gardner has been a full time fishing guide for over 27 years. Along with her husband, Capt. Brian Horsley, they are the go to guides for fly fishing in the area surrounding Outer Banks, NC. Sarah & Brian both run 23 foot Jones Brother boats and target Cobia, Redfish, False Albacore, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, & Sharks on the fly. After getting her Bachelor's degree in Illustration from Moore College of Art in 1987, Sarah worked in advertising for several years, but she never felt comfortable working inside. To be around other like-minded people and earn extra money, she took an evening sales position at Anglers Sport Center, a big outfitter in Maryland. Shortly thereafter, out of the blue, the legendary Lefty Kreh called and would eventually take her under his wing and help her flourish into the great writer and spokesperson she is today. Years later, Lefty was the photographer at Sarah & Brian's wedding and their relationship continued until his passing a couple of years ago. Sarah is known by her peers as being a hardy, tough, badass of a human whether on the water, in the woods, or competing in Ironman races. Not only is she “fishy” on the boat but her love for teaching and educating is extremely inspiring. As people look up to Joan Wulff and Kathy Beck, many view Sarah as a role model and shining example on how hard work, dedication, and chasing your passions can lead to a extremely fulfilling life. Thanks for coming on the podcast, Sarah!
