Having too many ideas is just as paralyzing as having none. The excitement of possibility quickly turns into frustration when those ideas stay trapped in notebooks and late-night brainstorming sessions. The challenge isn't just generating new concepts—it's organizing them, refining them, and turning them into something real. AI can't replace creativity, but it can help cut through the noise, connect the dots, and bring structure to the chaos, making execution as dynamic as the vision itself. Bryan Mattimore, co-founder of Growth Engine Company, is a leading innovation strategist who has helped generate $3 billion in new sales for Fortune 100 companies. Author of 21 Days to a Big Idea and Idea Stormers, he is known for his creative problem-solving techniques and TEDx talk on innovation. Today, he explores how AI can revolutionize brainstorming, sharing practical methods for using it as a creative partner. He discusses how innovators can leverage AI to generate, refine, and develop breakthrough business ideas. Stay tuned! Resources The Growth Engine Co. Do you have a big idea? Would you know a big idea if it fell in your lap? Do you watch TV and see amazing new products out there that you say, I could have done that? Well if you have ever wanted to launch your creative spark and find your OWN big idea my guest today makes it easy. Well not quite easy but definitely easier! For most of us the hardest part of an idea is getting started. Especially when you are alone. How do you know if your idea even makes sense? According to Bryan Mattimore, the crazier and more insane the idea the better. The worst ideas often create the biggest new idea. Think pet rock, the character of the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld, smart water (truly one of my favorites and one I drink regularly). Knowing how to turn that worst idea into something great just takes some creative thinking. With the launch of his latest book, 21 Days to a Big Idea, Bryan guides you through how you can develop 21 big ideas in 21 days. Each exercise in the book has been carefully crafted and tested to help you trigger your creative juices and think outside your own perceptions. On this episode Bryan shares how the idea can to be, of course it started with a question, and his own journey to create the workshop that created this book. Listen as we share some of our own Big Ideas! Bryan W. Mattimore is cofounder and “Chief Idea Guy” of the Growth Engine Company, www.growth-engine.com, a sixteen-year old innovation agency based in Norwalk, Connecticut. In his innovation consulting career, Bryan has facilitated over a thousand brainstorming sessions, moderated over five hundred creative focus groups, and managed over two hundred innovation projects, leading to over $3 billion in new sales for a wide variety of Fortune 500 clients, including Kraft, Unilever, Ford, AT&T, BNY Mellon, LVMH, Merck, and Pepsi. His second book on ideation and innovation process Idea Stormers, How to Lead and Inspire Creative Breakthroughs was published in 2012 by Wiley Jossey-Bass. Growing up with a father who epitomized the advertising age’s “original madmen,” Bryan surely ate ideas for breakfast. It’s no wonder he claims he is “obsessed with creativity and the creative process.” Bryan is Cofounder and Chief Idea Guy of the Growth Engine Company, a sixteen-year-old firm which enables a variety of Fortune 500 clients, including Kraft and Ford, to generate new business concepts and innovations. His latest book, 21 Days to a Big Idea, unleashes powerful creative thinking techniques for individuals as well as small business enterprises. His inventive approach as the “new product guru” has been highlighted by the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Insider, Fast Company, and countless other entrepreneurial-driven publications. Key takeaways: Stop waiting for inspiration to hit. Simply draw a circle around yourself. What challenges or problems can you solve within this space? Remember when you wished upon a star every night? Return to that juvenile state and make impossible wishes…possible again. Be like Einstein. Give yourself a problem, but spend 55 minutes coming up with the framework of the question. Cultivate the “Chinese menu” brainstorming process – that of Fran Striker and David Bowie. Find out what a 21-day experiment really means. And no, it has nothing to do with a food cleanse. Tune in and turn the volume up for a dose of inspiration and life lessons.
