Lee talks about the critical role of habits, behaviours, and routines in shaping organisational culture. He introduces the concept of the "5Rs" for successful habit formation: Reason, Readiness, Routine, Repetition, and Results. Lee emphasises the importance of clarity and simplicity in defining what should happen within teams and organisations, encouraging listeners to reflect on their own practices. By exploring each of the 5Rs, he provides practical insights on how to foster a more engaged and inclusive culture, ultimately guiding individuals and teams toward meaningful contributions and desired outcomes. Tune in to discover how to effectively implement these principles in your own business environment. KEY TAKEAWAYS Definition of Culture: Culture is defined as the sum of all habits, behaviours, and routines within a team, department, or organisation. Understanding this definition is crucial for fostering a positive workplace environment. Five Rs for Successful Habit Formation: The five Rs—Reason, Readiness, Routine, Repetition, and Results—are essential for creating and maintaining effective habits. Each R addresses a specific aspect of habit formation that contributes to personal and organisational success. Importance of Clarity: Clarity in what should happen daily is vital for effective habit formation. Everyone involved should understand their roles and responsibilities to ensure alignment and engagement towards common goals. Role of Accountability: Readiness involves not only personal belief in one's ability to succeed but also having external accountability. This support system is crucial for maintaining motivation and commitment to the desired habits. Reflection and Adaptation: Regular reflection on the results achieved is necessary to ensure that the habits and routines are effective. Understanding what success looks, sounds, and feels like helps in adjusting strategies to stay on the right path. BEST MOMENTS "The definition of culture is the sum of all of the habits, behaviors, and routines that exist within." "We need to make it clear and simple what should happen and is what should happen happening." "If you're not ready to start today, are you really ready?" "How often do you need to do these things to get the results? And are you doing it enough?" "The five R's of successful habit formation are what I spoke about." Nick talks to branding expert Greg Merilees, who shares his journey from t-shirt design to creating impactful websites for notable figures like Frank Oz and Sylvester Stallone. They delve into the essence of branding, discussing how it shapes perceptions and drives customer engagement. Greg emphasises the importance of clarity in messaging and the role of storytelling in building trust with audiences. They also explore the significance of unique positioning in a crowded market, illustrated through compelling case studies, including a Pilates instructor who transformed her business through a well-crafted online presence.    KEY TAKEAWAYS Branding as Perception: A brand is defined by what others say about you when you're not in the room. It's essential for a brand to resonate with customers and evoke feelings that encourage them to take action. Importance of Clarity: Clarity in messaging is crucial. Businesses should focus on clearly communicating what problems they solve and who they serve, rather than using jargon or clever phrases that may confuse potential customers. Storytelling in Branding: Storytelling is a powerful tool for building trust and authority. By sharing personal stories, case studies, and customer experiences, businesses can create a narrative that resonates with their audience and positions them as the guide in their customers' journeys. Incremental Improvement: A website is never truly finished; it should evolve over time. Businesses should start with a basic online presence and continuously improve it by adding valuable content, social proof, and trust elements as they grow. Unique Selling Proposition (USP): Identifying and highlighting what makes a business unique is vital for standing out in a crowded market. This can be achieved through competitor analysis and understanding customer feedback to draw out key differentiators.   BEST MOMENTS "A brand is what others say about you when you're not in the room, and it needs to appeal to your customers so that they take action with your brand." "If you don't have clarity in your message, people will leave your website. Clarity wins every time over being clever." "When people come to your website, they only care about what's in it for them, not about you."   GUEST RESOURCES Studio 1 - https://studio1design.com/about/   VALUABLE RESOURCES FREE TRAINING: Below, I cover 3 Simple Scaling Systems that will help you build a business that provides more freedom, makes you more money, and sets you up for total financial independence. https://go.highvalueexit.com/training FREE DOWNLOAD: "Exit For Millions Blueprint” - This blueprint will help uncover gaps across 15 danger areas that could sabotage your dream of achieving a life-changing exit. https://go.highvalueexit.com/opt-in   Nick's LinkedIn: https://highvalueexit.com/li   Nick Bradley is a world-renowned author, speaker, and business growth expert, who works with entrepreneurs, business leaders, and investors to build, scale and sell high-value companies. Are you ready to start a business? Or, have you been working on your business but feel stuck, overwhelmed, and like you are spinning in circles without reaching your long-term goals? If you answered yes to any of those questions, the Purpose to Results™ Method is a program that will help you transform your business, and therefore, your life. The Purpose to Results™ Method is my signature program to help Christian entrepreneurs start, grow, or scale their businesses. What is the Purpose to Results™ Method? The Purpose to Results Method is the program I created to help my clients achieve complete clarity around their God-led calling and purpose, overcome mindset barriers, create a brand marketing strategy, navigate the challenges of tech, tools, systems, and processes, and take intentional effective action to build a solid foundation for the long-term success of your brand and business.  The Purpose to Results™ Method is a 5 part program Clarity Clarity is important so that you can identify your soulmate client, and the people you want to, and can, serve. Likewise, it is important to have clarity around your God-led calling and purpose so that you can create content that will resonate with your soulmate clients. Creating content that connects will help you build an emotional connection with your ideal clients. Building an emotional connection will help build trust. And once trust is built, you will begin to build relationships. Relationships help you become memorable and sharable and convert contacts to clients. In addition, you must have clarity around your purpose to build a personal brand. It is important to note that a lack of clarity around your purpose or God-led calling will result in doubt. If you are in a place of doubt, you will not build confidence and trust with your audience. The result is confusion and confused people do not buy. Some signs of a lack of clarity around your purpose include: Doubt Fear Inability to create content Feelings of overwhelm Frustration Lack of strategy Inability to reach goals Procrastination Feeling stuck, or like you are spinning in circles and going nowhere Inability to see your gifts, talents, and how you can help others based on your experiences and life journey Lack of confidence in and around your business Mindset barriers Mindset barriers are the same as mindset blocks. Your mind gets stuck in a place of negative thoughts that ultimately hold you back. Mindset barriers present as doubt, hesitation to take action, lack of clarity, lack of confidence, feeling stuck, and procrastination. Often times mindset barriers result in analysis paralysis or trying many different things to build your business with nothing working to help you achieve your goals. Mindset barriers may trigger anxiety You may feel like a failure because of mindset barriers. Frequently, people are frustrated because nothing is working and they blame many other things for the reason they are being held back. Mindset barriers often cause people to stay in a place of inaction. When you have mindset barriers you are more likely to compare and despair instead of taking intentional effective action. The good news is that you can change your mindset and the neuropathways in your brain and begin to think more positively thus producing more results and achieving your goals. Brand Marketing Strategy The first part of any brand marketing strategy is to create a personal brand. Once your personal brand is established, it is time to communicate with your audience and tell them what makes you unique. Personal branding is differentiating yourself so that you stand out as the expert that can help your soulmate clients. Your brand marketing strategy is the strategy you create to market your brand and business to your soulmate clients. Where can you reach them What marketing tools and platforms should you use Email marketing Pinterest marketing Social media marketing YouTube channel creation Podcasting LinkedIn Blogging SEO Is it one platform or is it multiple platforms that you should use? How can you simplify the strategy so that you are consistent? A brand marketing strategy also includes a sales process. And no brand marketing strategy is complete without a PR strategy. The key to a successful brand marketing strategy is to create messaging that resonates and connects with your soulmate clients, differentiates you from all others in your area of expertise, and builds trust with your ideal audience so that they know exactly how you will help them. Tech, tools, systems, and processes With every brand marketing strategy, you need to have technology and tools to automate your business and make life easier. In addition, to have a successful business, you need to have systems and processes in place. But which systems and processes do you need and how can you automate them and ensure someone else can run your business if you aren't available? Tech, tools, systems, and processes go hand in hand but it can be very overwhelming to decipher which of each to invest in, which are easiest to use, and which will simplify your business and help you best implement your brand marketing strategy. Automation is critical for maintaining sanity as you grow and scale your business. Do you need a fancy funnel system? If yes, which one is best? If not, how do you automate? How can you connect one platform or system to another using technology? Action Intentional effective action leads to results. Results create motivation. Motivation creates progress. Progress creates momentum. Momentum keeps you moving forward to achieve your goals. The results of taking intentional action include: Attracting your soulmate clients Building relationships Converting sales Making money Making an impact Achieving goals You can see how starting with clarity around your purpose is critical to taking intentional and effective action. Clarity cannot be achieved if you are sitting in a place of negative thoughts and doubt. Likewise, you will not be able to create an effective brand marketing strategy without clarity and a positive mindset. Similarly, it is necessary to understand tech, tools, systems, and processes to effectively implement a brand marketing strategy. And lastly, without any clarity, a positive mindset, a brand marketing strategy, and the tech, tools, systems, and processes in place, you will not be able to take intentional effective action. The reverse is also true. If you aren't taking intentional effective action to achieve clarity, a positive mindset, create a brand marketing strategy, and implement proper tech, tools, systems, and processes, you will not achieve your goals. You will feel stuck, overwhelmed, frustrated, doubtful, and stay in a place of inaction or lack of growth. There are three opportunities to work with me using the Purpose to Results™ Method. They include: CEO Club - a 6-month 1:1 business and mindset coaching/mentorship program VIP Day - a 1:1 business and mindset coaching/mentorship experience in a 4-hour power-packed session Transformation hour - 1:1 session in which I help you discover what barriers are keeping you from being successful. Manolo Blahnik. Jimmy Choo. Christian Louboutin. Marion Parke. It takes moxie, clear vision, and a major investment to launch a luxury footwear brand with no experience in the field. But Marion Parke has something those other designers don't: a medical degree. As a podiatric surgeon, Parke, who counts First Lady Jill Biden as a fan of her collection, spent a lot of time thinking about shoes. “Every patient consultation led to talking about shoes,” she recalls, “because everyone is there for a foot problem.” That's when inspiration struck the Oklahoma native: her knowledge of the foot and biomechanics, combined with her love of fashion helped her see the opportunity to create a luxury footwear brand that delivers on both style and comfort. “The novel concept was doing it in an elevated and tasteful way—that didn't scream you're wearing a shoe that's designed by a doctor.” She launched in 2015 and Bloomingdale's became the brand's first major retailer. Parke learned the business through trial and error: pattern making, production, wholesaling, e-commerce, branding. Heading into 2020, Marion Parke shoes were sold through nearly 50 boutiques and stores including fashion sites like Shop Bop. But the Covid-19 pandemic caused a major disruption—not only in distribution, but in shopping habits. Suddenly, in early 2020, no one needed heels. Marion Parke made the decision to skip an entire season of heels and stilettos, instead broadening the collection to include flats, sandals and wedges for the first time. “Covid fast-tracked that for us,” says Parke, a mother of three who suddenly found herself trying to save her brand while homeschooling her young children. “We had to think about what women's activities were like.” Now with the backing of investors who are experienced in the shoe industry as the owners of Minnetonka Moccasin, Marion Parke brought on its first CEO in late 2020 to “professionalize the business.” The move allows Parke to focus on what she loves most: design. “In fashion you're expected to see the future, to know what women want a year before they want it. The stakes have never been higher,” Parke says. I believe that our relationship with clothing has changed. Women have gotten comfortable, and they want something more functional, more wearable. I believe women aren't going to want to go back to the traditional high heel….we want to show that we're here to support women, so that you're not distracted by shoes at the most important moments in your life.” Following our conversation with Parke, we go back to the classroom with the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business. Marketing professor Steve Vuolo explains the four key components to clarity of positioning that help a brand gain traction. Clarity: “Clarity is the art of sacrifice. You're not going to be relevant to some in order to be really important to others.” Target: “Know who you're marketing to.” Frame of reference: “Understand the arena in which your product is competing.” Market differentiation: “What reason do consumers have to believe your claim? In Marion Parke's case, being a doctor gives her instant credibility. Plus, her shoes being manufactured in Italy adds believability.” "It's amazing how many entrepreneurs don't take the time to write these things out," Vuolo says. "Think about the persona of your brand."

Good morning, beautiful, This week, we’re meditating on clarity. When we see things clearly, when we feel things clearly, we can take action with confidence. That is the power of clarity. The ability to know how we feel, what we value, where we want to go, or what we desire fills our sails with a force that cannot be stopped. No matter how fearful we might be, no matter what perceived obstacles there are, Clarity begins the inertia of the intentional creation of our lives. So this morning’s meditation will give you the opportunity to practice bringing into focus things that may be unclear for you.

231: How the Principles of Dog Training Lead to Massive Entrepreneur Success with Dylan Blau

This week’s Misfit Entrepreneur is Dylan Blau. What does dog training have to do with massive success in entrepreneurship? A lot actually. Dylan is the founder of Epic Dog Pros and a professional dog training expert and behaviorist. He has rehabilitated thousands of dogs; training some of the most challenging cases from extreme aggression to dogs scared of everything. His consistency & dependability is incomparable allowing him to do what others cannot. Aside from that, he is a Public Figure, Mentor, Life Coach, and social media/PR wizard who used these tools to create all of his businesses and grow exponentially. In fact, hacking social media was the key to showcasing his talents in dog training to the world and making him known selling millions’ worth of dog training programs. Nowadays, he works with Celebrities, YouTube Influencers, Facebook Public Figures, Authors & other Social Media Celebrities to help them maximize their selling potential on social media. So, going back to my question at the beginning. What does dog training have to with massive entrepreneur success? Dylan’s shares how he used everything he knows about dog training to create a massive brand and business. @WeAreDogTraining on Instagram Dylan has been training dogs for 13 years and never expected to be in that business. He originally went to school for musical theatre and even did standup comedy for a while. He thought he was headed into acting. He ended having an opportunity in Arizona to work with dogs and learn lessons from watching Cesar Milan. This inspired him and a friend to rescue dogs and train them. And he did. He found he understood it almost intuitively and continued to develop the skill. He felt that he needed to share his knowledge and what he learned to help others learn it. As he went down the entrepreneur path, he found people like Tai Lopez and others. He immersed himself in learning top minds. This let him to fall in love with social media as it became an amazing stage for him to share everything he was doing. It began to take off. After training thousands of dogs and being known for really helping problem dogs and aggressive dogs, his teachings have been adopted by many throughout the world. “Training a dog is solving a problem. And working with animals is almost more fun than working with people as they don’t give you excuses. They only show you their limitations. The problems to solve.” Humans put up barriers and resistance. People can go to therapy for years and never solve their problems. And several years ago, Dylan doubled down on his brand on social media as a dog trainer and he now has hundreds of thousands of followers across many platforms and ways to get to his teaching and training. His whole business literally runs on social media and has allowed him to sell millions in his programs. During Covid, he offered to help others with the strategies he has used to grow online and now his latest business, The Blau Agency has grown tremendously. What are the principles that make for successful dog training that relate well to entrepreneurship? Consistency – Training a dog is all about creating a consistent day to day routine of actions that will help the dog to grow and progress. It is the same with an entrepreneur. Every day you work on the same things and trying to get better at them. Clarity – Clarity is one of the biggest reasons why dog trainers and dogs, and business owners and entrepreneurs will succeed or not. Things must be clear, easy to follow, and understand. The opposite of clarity is confusion and when we and dogs get confused, we shut down. Dylan uses the example of ordering a black coffee vs. trying to figure out Starbucks’ men. Black coffee is easy and universal. Confidence: You need to build confidence in your dog just as you need to build confidence in yourself as a business owner or entrepreneur. Fear is a terrible motivator. Building confidence builds motivation and confidence comes from healthy communication that is clear (clarity) and consistent. Patience: You must be patient with the process as you put in the work in the other areas with a dog and as a business owner or entrepreneur. At the 21-minute mark, we discuss these and my DCP formula in more detail and get into overcoming the challenges that happen even if you are doing well. We also discuss structure. It’s best to just listen. When you hit a roadblock, your ability to adapt, evolve, and problem solve comes down to your mantra (your battle cry) and your confidence/clarity in that you can work around it. Talk to us about hacking social media to grow a business, what should we know? Social media are free platforms where you can show people who you are every day and get attention to your brand and your business. With the right strategy, it can seem effortless. Dylan explains social media using his father, who is a successful, old school entrepreneur who never used social media. These business can and will continue to succeed. But Dylan said that social media is “Missed Potential Income.” Instagram is one of the best platforms to be on. .Tik Tok is now a must and has taken over social media. LinkedIn is still good. Parler is a new one. Dylan focuses the conversation on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Youtube. Dylan learned that the more he showed people, the more they responded and connect with him. If you can use social media to make your customers feel like they know you, the more successful you will be. If people see you consistently with confidence and clarity talking about a topic that you know, they will come to you because you are always there when the time is right for them. Every day, Dylan wants people to see him, engage with him, and have an opportunity to interact with them. Dylan was not originally a fan of Tik Tok, but now in his mind, it is the #1 place to be currently. It is a goldmine for anybody and Tik Tok will allow you have to fund with social media – it is all about being relatable and vulnerable. How are you able to put yourself across all these platforms, how much time are spending a day, and what is your strategy to monetize? How do you manage it all consistently every day? First, you need to present yourself in a way that gives you credibility. People judge your social media pages the way they judge a book cover. You want to develop your brand to be credible. It could be with PR, features, etc. Then you need to generate an outflow – a way to connect and develop a relationship. Relationships create opportunities. Connect with people – Dylan does this through Direct Messaging Opportunities create sales. Collaborations are important such as going on podcasts or with other social media influencers. You can certainly hire people to help you like VA’s or direct hires. Focus on what you are good and get help for the rest. At the 40 min mark, Dylan talks about how creates content and documents what he is doing as he goes. Documentary style content is the easiest to make. Show people the inside look at things. To collaborate – Dylan will go onto someone’s page and like 10 photos that he thinks is meaningful to the creator, then comment on 1-2 posts, then follows them. Once they respond and follow back, he direct messages them with a simple message to connect. He and his assistants send messages connecting every day. “The more you know yourself the more you can show yourself.” Any last thoughts? Have fun. Enjoy your life. Money is a result of doing what you love to do. Play the long game. Don’t think short term.   Best Quote: Training a dog is solving a problem. And working with animals is almost more fun than working with people as they don’t give you excuses. They only show you their limitations. The problems to solve.   Dylan's Misfit 3: Taking responsibility. You are wherever you are in life, because of everything you’ve done. You are in control. Ask for help. Life is more fun with people. Surround yourself with great people to help you grow. Have fun. Enjoy life! Believe in yourself to be yourself.   Show Sponsors: Sanebox:  www.Sanebox.com/MISFIT 5 Minute Journal: www.MisfitEntrepreneur.com/Journal

Ep 17: The 3-Letter Word That Can Change Your World!

Uplevel with Ginny Townsend

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 15, 2017 14:26

Like the title implies, this 3-letter word is a complete GAME-CHANGER! And, like I share in today' episode, it's a word that keeps coming up throughout my day in all kinds of ways. So, I figured I'd look you in on my journey and hope it encourages and challenges you to step into your greatness specifically in this area. So, what on earth is this magical 3-letter word that will change your world? ASK. It's a word that can feel uncomfortable and "squishy," I realize that. It can have a lot of emotional baggage or weight, it can give you some anxiety, or if can make you feel pretty vulnerable (these last two are more specifically how this word affects me). So in the efforts of trying to remove the emotional effect of the word, (and because I love to know the actual definition of words when I dig into them), I decided to "ask" Google what "ask" means: “to say something in order to obtain an answer” Well, that definition takes the emotion out of the word, doesn't it? "To say something in order to obtain an answer." Has there ever been a more straightforward take on this word?? OK, now that we know what we're working on, let's dig a little deeper. I had a conversation with a gentleman who was raising funds to launch his own VC fund. Specifically, we were talking about women in business. He shared that he’s spoken with several women who have brilliant business ideas or software or other tech prototypes even, but have self-eliminated. They’ve talked themselves out of the idea before they ever had a chance to ASK for the funding. And, on the other hand, he’s seen the most confident men in the world asking for money to fund ideas that weren't at all viable! Side note: In no way am I saying all men have crappy ideas and all women stay silent. But this was a pattern we were discussing. And I wish I could tell you its the first time I've heard it. But this is a rather common thread I keep hearing AND seeing in my community, and to be totally honest, in my own life (Which is why I think I keep seeing that word ASK!). It is so much easier for me to ask on behalf of someone else. Is that the case for you, too? So, with this pattern in mind, I thought I would dig into that gap between having a great idea and making the ASK. What are the steps in between? Where do we as amazing entrepreneurial women potentially put up Glass Walls in our way? Especially when we're so close to being funded! And the result of my studying is three specific steps. When I pulled everything together, I noticed that all three words started with the letter C. At first I thought, "Oh, no! Did this just get cheesy??" But I really think that the three C's will help this roadmap be memorable, so the best words won! Here they are: Clarity, Courage, Collaboration. Clarity: Clarity about what we want, about what we need, about where we want to be. Have you ever been in this situation where you’re hanging out with friends or your significant other and one of you suggests going out to eat. Then the inevitable question, “Where do you want to go?” Why is it so common in that moment for no one to know what to say?? Unless someone is clear about where they want to eat, that dinner discussion will hang around for longer than we’d all expect. I think we've all been in this exact situation! And that moment when someone becomes clear about what they want to eat for dinner is a really REFRESHING moment! That's right--clarity is refreshing. It's its own kind of authority and people really respect it. It’s ok to be clear about what you want. And it’s ok to ask for what you’re clear about. One more surprising thing I realized about clarity is that it is a small hinge that opens larger doors. Courage: One of the biggest ah-ha's I experienced this week as I studied this material, was that COURAGE is the EMISSIONS of CLARITY. I know we all have moments where we feel like, "Ah! I just wish I had the courage to ask for X." But realizing that this courage comes AS A RESULT of the clarity made me appreciate clarity even more. But courage still has it's place in the pre-ask roadmap. Once we have clarity, we still need the courage to open something: dial the number for that important phone call, walk into the room of a big event, walk up to your ideal audience and say "hello." These all take courage. But when you have the clarity, the courage seems to make more sense. Collaboration: It's within this collaboration space where the ASKs start to exist. Once you've started talking with another entrepreneur you want to collaborate with (my story is in today's episode), the ASKs become specific and intentional. I really do love this phase. It's where things that will make a difference get birthed. It's where you can work on something that will have a further reach than you as an individual ever may. So, the pre-ask roadmap, in my opinion, is a worthwhile journey to follow. And it all starts with a little bit of clarity. Which brings me to my weekly challenge: What is 1 thing you need to gain clarity around this week to position you to open those bigger doors? Hint: just chose 1, and get super clear about it. AND... how could I ever create an episode encouraging you to make the ASK if I don't do it myself? That would make me so incongruent! With that in mind, I'm so excited to announce that I'll be starting a Masterclass Series in December! My first one will be sharing all the good stuff around Shattering Your Glass Walls. And since I want to thank you for being a part of this launch, I'll be giving away some goodies between now and then. So, don't miss out! Claim your invitation today! Alright, Gorgeous. Have an amazing week and remember to ASK! XOXO, Ginny P.S. Interested in learning more about my relationship to this word ASK? I did an episode a few weeks back about one a type of ask we shouldn’t do as we grow our business: and that’s asking for permission. It’s Episode 8. Check it out now!
