In this episode of In All Things, special guest host Annie Rose welcomes Doug Resler and Julie Hawkins, co-chairs of the EPC's Ad-Interim Committee on Ordination Standards and Processes. As the 45th General Assembly approaches, Doug and Julie provide a thoughtful behind-the-scenes look at the purpose and work of their committee, formed to evaluate and recommend updates to the EPC's ordination standards. Together, they discuss the why behind their recommendations, the theological and pastoral considerations that shaped their work, and their hopes for how these changes might serve the long-term health and unity of the EPC. Whether you're a Teaching Elder, Ruling Elder, or someone discerning a call to ministry, this episode offers a helpful and hopeful look at how we affirm and equip those called to serve Christ's church. What do you do when making disciples is hard? I mean, you can’t just give up, can you? After all, making disciples is literally what the Lord Jesus commissioned us to do, as recorded in Matthew 28:18-20. This is what we’re talking about in today’s episode of the Think Podcast with Joel Settecase. So what happens when the society becomes divided, the culture divisive, or the civil government oppressive? Do you throw in the towel and wait for things to get easier? Or, do you get smarter and invent new ways to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ? My friends, this episode is going to open your eyes to a whole new way of thinking about how to make disciples, even in places where it is extraordinarily challenging to do so. You’re going to hear from a Christian evangelist, pastor, ministry director and missionary who has decades of experience with making disciples in hard places. Specifically, you’ll find out… Dave’s incredible story of bringing the Gospel to Eastern Europe during communist rule, and how God gave him and his team wisdom to reach the Hungarian people with the gospel. All about Youth At The Threshold of Life, the Christian sex education curriculum(!) that became a movement of Gospel ministry. The current need for innovation among Christians in the Western world. Dave’s foundational principles for thinking about the Great Commission today, including: (1) Everyone is on a spiritual journey, (2) God is already at work in their lives, and (3) God wants to use you. About “Story of the Soul” and other innovative methods blending culture and the Christian message to reach contemporary society. Of all the societies in which Dave has ministered, which one is the “hardest soil.” This will shock you.. How to get smarter, as things seem to get harder for Christians. Much more. Joel’s guest today is Dave Robinson. Dave is the Co-Executive Director of Church Movements (Cru) and Teaching Elder for the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He is a mobilizer, teaching pastor and communicator. Get the full show notes at https://thethink.institute/podcast --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-think-podcast/message

Season 1 - Episode 8 - Where and When Should We Pray? Introduction to Episode: In preparation for today's topic, I read an article that our episode is based from. The article was written by Nathan Bingham and his opening sentence of the article he points out that "good communication" is one of the key elements of a fruitful marriage. I find a lot of relationships do not posses good communication. Nathan goes on to say that we are relational beings made in the image of God (Image Dei). We must remember that our prayer is our conversation with God as John Calvin once said. The when and where we pray should reflect a relationship with the Father and not a boastful event. When we pray we are to 1 Thessalonians 5:17. Co-Host: Daniel Rose is the husband to Amy and father of Ethan and Libby. Daniel is the lead pastor with the Antioch Movement and part-time teaching pastor at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church. In Daniel's words, the Antioch Movement focuses on "sending the sent." Daniel likes his coffee, beer, whiskey, film, music, fiction, and jogging. Daniel is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a B.S. in Psychology and a Minor in Religion. Daniel holds a Masters of Divinity from Michigan Theological Seminary. Daniel is an ordained Teaching Elder (pastor) within the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Podcast Episode Summary: As we continue on our Journey learning about prayer and its importance, we must keep in mind that we relational beings and the Father wants to have conversation with us and he wants us to depend on and trust Him. In order to have "good communication" with the Father then we must pray without ceasing. 1 Thess. 5:17 Pray in public Communication with your spouse Praise God for the things He has blessed us with.
