In today's episode, Warren Ingram and Colin Morgan, Co-founder at getWorth, discuss the financial implications of buying cars, focusing on the benefits of purchasing used cars over new ones. They explore the concept of car depreciation, the ideal age for buying a vehicle, and the importance of understanding the wholesale and retail pricing dynamics in the car market. TakeawaysCars are a passion for many, but financial sense is crucial.Used cars generally offer better value than new cars.Depreciation is steepest in the first year of ownership. The ideal time to buy a car is between five to ten years old.Mileage is often more important than age when buying a used car.Buying at wholesale and selling at retail is the goal for car buyers.Keep a car until it becomes unreliable or too costly to maintain.Understanding the car market can lead to better purchasing decisions.Emotional decisions can lead to poor financial outcomes in car buying.Choosing the right time to buy or sell a car can save money.Get more insight on how Prescient Investment Management can help you here.Send us a textHave a question for Warren? Our Monstrous Regiment episode still isn't quite ready, so we've had to push it to April. In the meantime, Ben gets nerdy about some recent Discworld and Pratchett news about books and roleplaying games. A few brief notes: “50 Years of Terry Pratchett” was actually announced in November 2021, marking fifty years since the publication of The Carpet People in 1971. (In Ben's defence, those early pandemic years all blur into one.) It kicked off with a new print and audiobook edition of that book; the new audio version was read by David Tennant! The new Discworld audiobooks and paperbacks from Penguin were published between 2022 and 2023, though the audiobook of Hogfather was released early for Christmas 2021, using the same artwork as the 25th anniversary paperback edition. For more on the books released as part of 50th anniversary celebrations, see the L-Space wiki “50 Years of Terry” article. You can check out the cover design for the new edition of The Last Hero on the Gollancz website. The new paperback edition of Eric was published on 23 February 2023. The new audiobook, read by Colin Morgan, had been previously released with the other Wizards books on 7 July 2022. The Collector's Library edition of Dodger can be seen in the terrypratchett.com announcement. You can see the “Forty Years of Discworld” logo at terrypratchett.com. The “Year of Discworld” was announced on the day of the fortieth anniversary, promising “more on that soon”. Both the terrypratchett.com announcement and Modiphius announcement for Terry Pratchett's Discworld: Adventure in Ankh-Morpork include links to Modiphius' fan survey (it's a Google form). Modiphius also has a mailing list you can sign up to for more news. Ben forgot to mention this, but Modiphius' license is for Discworld “tabletop games”, including board games. No news on those yet, though! We'll be back with #Pratchat76, our proper Monstrous Regiment episode on 8 April. Then in May we'll be reading “Hollywood Chickens” (which you can find in A Blink of the Screen) and “From the Horse's Mouth” (from A Stroke of the Pen, or in earlier form as “Johnno, The Talking Horse” in The Time Traveling Caveman and Other Stories) with guest Laura Jean McKay. Send in your questions about those stories via email, or using the hashtag #Pratchat77 on social media.

'Belfast' written and directed by Kenneth Branagh It's 1969 and the imaginative, free-spirited Buddy (major discovery Jude Hill) knows every inch of and every person in his street of Protestant and Catholic families. He pops into neighbouring houses as though they were his own and people look out for him while his working-class parents (Jamie Dornan and Caitriona Balfe) hustle to make ends meet. But this blissful sense of security is about to be broken by sectarian violence and the tanks that sweep through the city. A former pro, Colin Morgan has traded his career in sports to become a popular podcaster, but it wasn’t a move that came without challenges. For one thing, prior to stepping away from golf, his life had been on a narrowly successful trajectory. Floundering was something entirely new for him. Colin has not found his way as a young businessman without failing and failing again. Fortunately, with the help of some perspective from his dad, Colin understood that it was all time well invested – because a significant investment of time is the defining key to long-term success. Today the Canadian host of the “Daily Grind” podcast has a clearly articulated lifestyle vision that aligns equally with his entrepreneurial vision. Listen as Daniel elicits great advice and very specific steps for developing a foothold of the kind Colin has established, using his podcast with more than 3 million downloads as a vehicle to generate revenue and make a positive impact.

He has such great wisdom and shares how he constantly evaluates on his own journey to help him improve in his life. What was also very clear is that he separates his business and personal life. He won’t allow what happens in business to impact his personal well-being. A great episode to help you gain another perspective on entrepreneurship. Colin Morgan is a former pro golfer and the founder and host of The Daily Grind Podcast, where he interviews today's most successful people in the hopes of inspiring the next great entrepreneur. But his mission grew from a place of deep pain. Colin actually had a lot of support when he was growing up; he cites his father and his first golf coach as the people who instilled the belief that he could be successful. It was when he reached college that he discovered that not everyone had his best interests at heart, and this is when he experienced psychological and sexual abuse. After the abuse, he started to hate golf, but still continued on the path to being a pro player. Then, mid-tournament, he realized that he wasn't happy. He decided to make a dramatic change. He was drinking and partying to mask his feelings, and he says that's where he really learned that how you do one thing is how you do everything. The way that he was partying trickled down into every aspect of his life, including entrepreneurship. He was always looking for a get rich quick scheme, ultimately experiencing a cycle of failure and then getting excited about the next big idea. To create the change he needed, Colin started to incorporate habits like journaling. He wrote down things that he was grateful for and worked on a goal to move his business forward, for at least 20 minutes each day. And it paid off. Colin found a purpose in helping to prevent and stop abuse in sports, and he really encourages other survivors to reach out for help. Colin lost a college friend who also suffered abuse to suicide and says, “The work I'm doing goes much beyond abuse. It's about saving lives.” Don't be a podcast junkie… Resources: Listen: The Daily Grind Podcast Instagram: @colinmorgan.dgp LinkedIn: Colin Morgan Read: Psyched Up Get your copy of Master the Key: A Story to Free Your Potential, Find Meaning and Live Life on Purpose -- We are brought to you by the Lawton Marketing Group, a full-service advertising and design agency serving companies and entrepreneurs at all levels. Popworld provocateur-turned-filmmaker, Simon Amstell, joins us on the Curzon Film Podcast this week, to talk about his romantic comedy, Benjamin, but first we get right to the pointe of Lukas Dhont's ballet drama, Girl.Still only in his twenties, Belgian writer-director Lukas Dhont has already made a name for himself with his impressive, tender and controversial debut film. Girl tells the story of Lara (Victor Polster), a determined 15-year-old, committed to becoming a professional ballerina after starting at a new school. Having been born a boy, she faces a world that questions her gender and selfhood, while also also taking on the intense physical demands of a dancer's life. The film has been landed and criticised in near equal measure, the winner of multiple awards, challenged for its treatment of the transgender experience. After Girl, we then sit down with Simon Amstell, once a highly skilled troublemaker, now a talented filmmaker.Amstell's Benjamin is a bittersweet comedy about a rising star filmmaker (that's Benjamin, played by (Colin Morgan) who is thrown into emotional turmoil on the brink of premiering his second film, when Billie, his hard partying publicist, introduces him to a mesmeric French musician called Noah. Set among the back streets of East and North London - and partly filmed in our very own Curzon Soho - the film boasts original music from James Righton of the Klaxons and great performances from its young cast including Colin Morgan, Phénix Brossard, Joel Fry, Jack Rowan and Jessica Raine.Discussing the films this week are Sam Howlett, Jake Cunningham, Ella Kemp and Caitlin Quinlan.Follow the team on Social Media:@jakehcunningham - Jake@efe_kemp - Ella@SamHowlett_1 - Sam@csaquinlan - CaitlinProduced by Jake CunninghamEdited by Mark Towers Hosted on Acast. You all are doing a fantastic job, and keep up the great work. In this show, Patrick welcomes Colin Morgan. A few years ago, Colin found himself caught in the daily grind. He felt unfilled and certainly, he was not making the money he wanted to make. He left his job and set out on his own. He stumbed around until he found someone who could show him the way. That was the key. Now, he has a purpose and he looks forward to everyday with renewed enthusiasm. He has a great releationship, a growing business and an insatiable appetite for learning. He started and developed the Daily Grind Podcast to help people who are just like he was. The podcast airs live 5 days a week and features some of the world's most facinating people. His guests include the worlds top entrepreneurs and other influencial people. Colin hopes to educate and inspire listeners to do what you have always wanted to do.
