John Mills-Cockell is a Canadian composer from Toronto who was a very early adopter of the original Moog Synthesizer. He was part of the multi-faceted and ground-breaking work with the avant garde/poetry group Intersystems in the late 1960s and then the group Syrinx. I became acquainted with John more recently and he told me that his original Moog modules, used for Intersystems, burned up in a fire and so he turned to the use of ARP instruments around 1971. I am featuring his synthesizer work from a couple of solo albums as a representative of the independent stream of electronic music artists from Canada. The music was created to be played during a dance performance in which movement was seen through colored images projected on the dancers. In contrast to the earlier tape works of Beecroft featured in part 1 of this series, this is a purely digital composition. Commissioned by the Music Department in Toronto of the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. with the purpose of utilizing their then new digital mixing facilities. Vaccination is one approach to covid, triggering acquired immunity. But what else can be employed a) to support innate immunity and b) to supress viral replication? In this month's podcast I'll be updating you on three strong candidates – vitamin C, vitamin D and the anti-parasite drug Ivermectin – by talking to vitamin D expert Dr David Grimes and Ivermectin expert Dr Tess Lawrie as well as updating you on a review of 12 vitamin C for covid trials.   David Grimes qualified in medicine at Manchester University in 1966. He's acted, produced and starred in his own productions, which have won awards such as best new feature in the Canadian Film Festival. This week Point of Inquiry welcomes Dr. David Grimes, a board certified physician in obstetrics and gynecology and author of the new book Every Third Woman in America: How Legal Abortion Transformed Our Nation. Dr. Grimes talks with host Lindsay Beyerstein about the enormous good that’s been done as a result of the legalization of abortion, and the horrors that women used to face — and face anew — as access to abortion services is chipped away.  A powerful movement is relentlessly fighting to turn back the clock to the pre-Roe v. Wade era, when abortions were just as common as they are today, but far more dangerous and life-threatening. States across the country have seen the introduction and passage of “TRAP laws” (Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers) that harshly restrict access to abortion, birth control, and even cancer screenings, all under the pretense of protecting patients’ health.
