WHAT TO EXPECT:Why do we find ourselves irresistibly drawn to partners who are bad for us? Unravel the paradox of intense sexual chemistry with problematic partners and discover how our evolutionary attachment systems play a role in keeping us locked in unsafe or unfulfilling relationships. We delve into the physiological and psychological reasons behind these behaviors, emphasising how the unknown can heighten erotic attraction and how our bodies strive to maintain balance in distressing situations. By understanding these mechanisms, we can start to release the shame and recognize these responses as survival strategies rather than flaws.Shame can be a powerful force in shaping behaviors, especially for those traumatised by sexual assault. This episode examines the desperate search for control that often leads to risky behaviors and addictions. Drawing from Seth Stevens Davidovitz's book "Everybody Lies," we uncover the societal pressures surrounding financial and sexual shame revealed through internet searches. We aim to lift the veil on the complexities of shame, stressing the importance of addressing it to foster overall wellbeing and healthier relationships.--------- EPISODE CHAPTERS ---------(0:00:00) - Understanding Attachment and Sexual Dynamics(0:06:10) - Addressing Sexual Shame for Wellbeing(0:10:54) - Sexual Shame, Instagram Gurus, Building Confidence(0:19:59) - Dealing With Emotions and Inner Critic✅Important Link to Follow

How Do I Process My Emotions?
Human-beings are complex. We can have multiple emotions existing at the same time. This also means that one person can also make us feel so many different things: proud, happy, excited, and even hurt. In this episode, Vennela shares with us how a conversation with her father impacted her thoughts, and how her thoughts influenced her feelings, which then got transferred to her boyfriend. So, if you've ever felt an emotional hangover after treating someone you care for with not-the-best-intentions, then you're in the right place. Listen as we explore the realities of life, love, and the little versions of us that throw tantrums. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/akouo-consulting/support

As evangelicals, we've been taught to believe that our heart and our emotions and even our very minds cannot be trusted. Evangelicals have used a variety of bible verses to support this idea, that we are inherently evil and that we should "crucify" the bad parts of ourselves or our flesh. On today's episode, Ashley deconstructs toxic theology around emotions. She then, offers up internal family systems as a healthy way of understanding emotions.Ashley references "Boundaries" and "The Gifts of Imperfection" as well as Dr. Richard Schwartz's book "No Bad Parts: Healing Trauma and Restoring Wholeness with the Internal Family Systems Model." Ashley provides an overview of how adopting Internal Family Systems can create a compassionate relationship with the different "parts" of who we are. You can check out more of Dr. Schwartz's ground breaking work on emotions here. Last week we looked at the power of emotions and how trapped emotions wreak havoc on our bodies, our souls, and our relationships. This week we'll look into some practical steps we can take to process those emotions. An emotion is tied to what happened to us. A feeling is tied to how we process that emotion. If we don't process our emotions properly, we'll end up with feelings we never should have had. In this episode we'll discuss three simple steps to process emotions: * Let it Out * Let it Go* Let it HappenWithin each, we'll share some practical steps on how we can do each of these and live in peace and freedom in our own personal lives as well as our marriage. Please visit us on our website at BeautyInBattle.comIf you haven't read our book, you can get it here.
Trapped emotions rob us of joy and destroy our relationships, leaving us a shell of the marriage God intended for us. Not only that, they destroy our physical bodies. In this episode, we'll take a look at a powerful verse that shows us the importance of exposing hidden emotions and how God can help us get to the bottom of them. Psalms 139:23-24 states, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.”David essentially asks God, “Put me in a struggle so I can see what's going on inside me!” God knows what emotions we are feeling, even when we aren't sure ourselves. And He knows the emotions that draw us close and those which pull us away from each other. He wants to help us access the power of emotions and expose them for what they are. We'll also discuss the three sources of emotion - inherited, experienced, and projected. You will enjoy this episode and the one that follows. Please visit us on our website at BeautyInBattle.com If you haven't read our book, you can get it here.
Do you struggle with emotions? Can you easily calm your body and your mind when presented with a difficult emotion? Yes! No!
