Episode #: 79.  Managing Emotions and Feelings Without Food Whatever eating style or plan you choose, and no matter what work you do with the other principles of Intuitive Eating, Principle 7 is perhaps the most important one that is going to make it or break it for you.How often are you on plan all day or even all week, and then at night, you are tired and feeling overwhelmed from the day's or week's events? How often are you on plan all day or again, even all week, and you have an out-of-the blue disappointment or let-down? How often do you deal with your exhaustion, boredom, disappointment, or anger with food? Does the food soothe you or entertain you? Do you think – erroneously – that eating something will perk you up and give you energy? It is hard to keep all your balls in the air. This episode will help you juggle them or decide which ones to drop.Get all my free guidesTake a look at this great courseJoin me on FacebookFollow me on InstagramCheck out PinterestAnd don't forget my book!

Are you curious about the intricate dance between your emotions and feelings? This podcast episode is your ticket to a deeper comprehension of the difference between emotions and feelings, and how separating these can help you process life better. We unravel the layers differentiating emotions from feelings, dispelling societal misconceptions, and revealing how understanding this subtle difference can aid in managing emotional sensations effectively. Now, imagine the power you'd wield if you could dictate your emotional reactions and responses. That's exactly what we'll be navigating through in the second part of our podcast. The segment is an intimate exploration of the correlation between our thoughts, feelings, actions, AND emotions. We dissect the concept of resistance and its potential to exacerbate emotionally charged situations while underlining the value of recognizing our initial reaction and taking responsibility for our subsequent behavior.Lastly, we delve into the realm of emotional expression within safe spaces. Podcast: Smart Money Parenting (LS 40 · TOP 1.5% what is this?)Episode: Navigating the 4 Emotions and Feelings Your Kids Have About MoneyPub date: 2023-03-07In today's episode, hosts Chad Willardson and Scott Donnell break down the 4 primary emotions and feelings your kids have about money. They share how kids with different personalities spend their money and what you can do to ensure they don't make dire financial mistakes in the future. Chad starts the conversation by describing money emotions and how the money ideas you grew up with will stick with you for life. After interviewing over a thousand families, Scott and his team found that most parents don't know how to talk to their kids about money. They also found that kids dislike talking about money because they see it as the biggest source of conflict in the home.  Chad and Scott dissect the four different money personalities in kids: The Brainy Kid - This kid is super information-based and knows a lot of things about money. However, they often suffer analysis paralysis, which leaves them stuck. The Mood Vibes - They have to buy something to feel worthy or good about themselves. The Saver - They crave stable and secure environments. They rarely overspend but often put off buying things that they need. The Bling - This kid buys things to be seen and noticed. All their money goes into purchasing status symbols like a cool bike or nice shoes. According to Chad, once you understand your child's money personality, you can know where to start with the money conversation. Scott believes parents should be careful about how they have money conversations with their kids and around their kids. Scott shares the benefits of having unique values about money as a family. Scott and Chad agree that giving your kids money they did not earn is the very definition of financial incompetence. Chad and Scott explain why kids can only learn to appreciate money if they work hard to earn it. Chad highlights the benefits of talking to your kids about the grave financial mistakes you made early in life. Scott reveals that kids at every age can have money conversations - you don't have to wait till they're 18 to start teaching them about money.     Mentioned in This Episode: gravystack.com/smart smartmoneyparenting.com Smart, Not Spoiled: The 7 Money Skills Kids Must Master Before Leaving the Nest by Chad Willardson Scott Donnell on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/donnell-scott/ Chad Willardson on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/chadwillardson Scott Donnell on Instagram - @imscottdonnell Chad Willardson on Instagram - @chad.willardson Scott Donnell on TikTok - @imscottdonnellThe podcast and artwork embedded on this page are from by Gravy Stack, which is the property of its owner and not affiliated with or endorsed by Listen Notes, Inc.

Dr. Kinga Mnich, Impact is about setting your own rules and stepping into your authentic self by overcoming fear. It starts with embracing your power by knowing that you control your thoughts and emotions – and with that: your experiences, your reactions and actions. It also means that no one can take away your power because it lies within you. I help you step into authenticity and power, embrace your emotions and develop a positive mindset to craft a long-term strategy that keeps you motivated and on track to create the impact that you desire. It is because of my personal history and the lessons I have learned that I structure my work around MINDSET, EMOTIONAL POWER, and STRATEGY.This is what I bring to personal sessions, group settings, and corporate offerings and promise a profound experience. The question I am eager and ready to answer is not where are you from, but who do you want to be, and what do you want to impact? That is when the real conversation begins! Support the show

We can have better, fuller, and richer relationships by using what we learned about about working through our emotions and feelings and applying it to our relationships. Exercises based on the episode's content: Exercise 1: Remember a time when you were criticized without your asking for negative comments. How did it feel? Were the comments helpful? Did they make you feel closer to the person who criticized you?               Why? / Why not? Exercise 2: Remember a time when you were given advice you didn't ask for.          Was that advice helpful?          Were you happy to receive it?          Did it bring you closer ?                   Why? / Why not? Exercise 3: Remember a time when you were feeling inner pain and others tried to help by offering generalized positives.          Were these comments helpful?          Did they bring you closer ?                   Why? / Why not? Exercise 4: Do you commonly criticize others, even when you're not asked for your opinion? Do you commonly give advice when you're not asked for it? Do you regularly try to cheer up others who are hurting by telling them they are strong or there is meaning to their difficulties? If these don't help, are you willing to change? Practice not criticizing when not asked for a comment. Practice not giving advice when not asked for it. Practice holding the space for another. Be with them when they are hurting. Exercise 5: Does such holding back seem like a loving act? Does holding back from unasked for comments and criticisms make you feel better? Does such holding back build richer and deeper relationships.? As you practice this regularly, do you feel better? Does it build better relationships? With time, does a place of joy open in you?

SHOW NOTES "4 steps to practice EQ 1. Identify the emotion 2. Question its origination 3. Pause 4. Seek the best possible reaction to the emotion." "Feelings can be originate from points, 1 from our bodily senses, the touch, smell, sight and hearing. This can be a feeling a tingling sensation that makes you laugh, the feeling of anger coming from what you are seeing, disgusted is another feeling, I'm sure you get the point, the second one actually comes from Emotions. Emotions is e-motion, in physics we know e to be symbol of Energy, and this becomes Energy-motion, basically this means that emotions is energy in motion, which can be generated from within or come from outside, it's impulses. They lead to feelings. " New definition of Emotional Intelligence is the ability to IDENTIFY , REGULATE and GENERATE the emotions in your life. There are many ways to do this, it can be through meditation, visualization and affirmations. " Generation Emotions through Visualization. 1. Find a comfortable place to lay down. 2. Close your eyes and relax. 3. Think of a time you were happy. 4. Relax and see yourself being in that place, with the people 5. Notice everything about the place and people, from the smell, sensations, colours and what you were hearing. 6. Be in that event, feel it happening. 7. Smile (like really smile) while closing your eyes and feel the happy sensation travel through your body. This exercise might take a while to master, but once mastered it is a great tool that can change your for the best. Emotions and FeelingsIbrahim ansariHey, how are you feeling today? Me? I’m feeling kind of nostalgic today. We talk about feelings all the time, but what is the difference between an emotion and a feeling? Well, I have my own idea about these concepts. I tend to think of feelings as a bank of meters, whose needles are gently swaying back and forth between strong and weak. “It’s warm; I feel sad; I feel nostalgic; she bugs me; I like him; this is a nice place; I’m homesick; you make me feel loved…”All day and all night these little meters are giving us readouts of our world. Sometimes they light up with some joy, sorrow, love, pleasantness, sadness. But they are basically indicators of how things are going. However, when an emotion strikes, as anger, panic, pressure, stress or fear, the meters are all pinned to the right, red lights flashing, sirens wailing, and there is no longer the ability to detect any more subtlety of feelings. Feelings? We’ve left them far behind. We are emotional! An emotion, then, is when you are controlled by your drugs that are preparing you to stand your ground and fight for your life, or to run for your life. Any rational, objective reasoning has flown out the window and you are no longer a clear-thinking person. You could be categorised as insane. The temporary loss of reason is due to the flooding of cortisol and adrenaline. Here’s what happens when fear enters the room: A corticotrophin-releasing hormone causes the release of adrenocorticotropic hormone from the pituitary gland. Adrenocorticotropic hormone in turn travels in the bloodstream to the adrenal glands, where it causes the secretion of the stress hormone cortisol. The corticotrophin-releasing hormone also acts on many other areas within the brain where it suppresses appetite, increases anxiety, and improves memory and selective attention. Together, these effects co-ordinate behaviour to develop and fine tune the body’s response to a stressful experience. The corticotrophin-releasing hormone can also be increased above the normal daily levels by a stressful experience, infection or even exercise. An increase in corticotrophin-releasing hormone leads to higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol which mobilises energy resources needed for dealing with the cause of the stress. High levels of stress hormones over a long period can have negative effects on the body.Abnormally high corticotrophin-releasing hormone levels are connected with a variety of diseases. Because it stimulates anxiety and suppresses appetite, too much corticotrophin-releasing hormone is suspected of causing nervous problems such as clinical depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances and anorexia nervosa.Every emotional response has a behavioral component, an autonomic component, and a hormonal component. The hormonal component includes the release of adrenaline, an adreno-medullary response to stress and that is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system. The major emotion studied in relation to adrenaline is fear.We learn over time and experience to associate negativity with adrenaline; producing an increased heart rate and knee shaking, which can be attributed to the emotion of fear regardless of the actual level of fear.Your body overrides any coherent thouSupport the show (http://www.ansarisufiorder.org)
