Olin Giles interviews Thomas Samuel, a former, radical salafi Muslim who encountered Jesus. In his new autobiography, Thomas Samuel describes his gut-wrenching conversion experience from radical Salafi Islam to becoming a follower of Jesus Christ. From a young age, Thomas was a devout Muslim who memorized the entire Quran, led prayer in the mosque, and dreamed of jihad and martyrdom. However, his life was turned radically upside down when Jesus came to him in a series of dreams, setting in motion a chain of events that would ultimately cause him to rebel and leave Islam while searching for truth in various world religions, none of which brought peace to his tormented soul. Thomas offers a window deep into the daily life, faith, and worldview of the Salafi community. He also outlines the moral, historical, and philosophical problems he found in the Quran and the earliest biography of Muhammad. These inconsistencies caused him to leave Islam and run for his life to Jesus. Website: https://www.radicaltruth.net Donate: https://www.radicaltruth.net/donate
Kenza was born and raised in the Muslim family in Casablanca, Morrocco. Her fear of failing Allah began early. Then her family moved to the states when she was 12. That’s when her efforts to please God ramped up a hundred times! Islam required praying five time a day, she’d pray seven. Islam required a 30 day fast; she’d fast for 40. By the time she was 23, she gave up trying to be good enough. She knew she couldn’t. She was convinced God hated her. And that’s when she decided to end her life. Kenza Haddock is a licensed counselor, an author (her latest book is The Ex-Muslim’s Guide to Christianity) and she’s a follower of Jesus. Because Jesus found her the night she was going to end it all.Support the show: https://give.moodyradio.org/fall-share?v=def&appeal=MRWM&_gl=1%2a142i9we%2a_ga%2aNTE4MTE5MmUtY2U1Yy00YmQ3LWU4MmUtNjEwYTQ5YzAyODRj%2a_ga_4WH1937046%2aMTY5NTExODEwMS4yOTkuMC4xNjk1MTE4MTAxLjYwLjAuMA..&_ga=2.197426156.215784306.1695059984-1182841406.166859587See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Although Younes has his criticisms of the Israeli government, he also firmly supports a Jewish state due to the understanding that constant persecution has brought the need for the Jews to have their own homeland. Younes has spoken out on his social media and has been a guest on some popular podcasts recently where he delved deeply into the possible threat of Sharia law in western countries and why there must be steps taken to ensure it doesn't happen. I'm writing a series over on my patreon…on something thats pretty personal to me - the Ex-Mus to TradFash pipeline. It's a path I've seen too many go down and completely descend into blatant far right f*ckery. I've dedicated a fair bit of time this month to unpacking this phenomenon more broadly and to documenting the far right trajectory of one Ex-Muslim in particular, previously thought to be one of the better, more moderate ones by many who had followed the new atheist and Ex-Muslim scenes. If you are interested in learning more about this particular form of radicalization, do check out the series on my patreon. Ostracized. Alone. Disoriented. You’ve left your family, community, and everything you’ve known behind. You may have found a loving church community, but no one really understands what it’s been like. It feels like there are disconnects between what you know about faith and how your fellow Christians seem to understand God. Perhaps other churchgoers speak of a closeness with the Holy Spirit that you can’t seem to connect with. Aysha discusses her journey leaving Islam and becoming an atheist. She introducts the Ex-Muslims of North America (EXMNA) organization, where she began as a volunteer and now serves as Director of Operations. Aysha explains the restrictions she faced as a Muslim woman growing up in a traditional Pakistani household, including limited rights in marriage, inheritance, testimony in court, and the sanctioning of husbands beating disobedient wives. She examines the contradictions between Islam and her rights as a US citizen. She highlights EXMNA's work normalizing dissent through campus tours and building community for ex-Muslims. In this episode, we examine a series of Sam's conversations centered around religion, atheism, and the power of belief. First, we hear the stories of three guests who have fled their respective oppressive religious organizations. We begin with Sarah Haider, founder of the advocacy group Ex-Muslims of North America, who details how her encounters with militant atheists catalyzed her journey to secularism. Then our narrator, Megan Phelps-Roper, walks us through her story of abandoning the Westboro Baptist Church. Finally, Yasmine Mohammed presents her harrowing account of escaping fundamentalist Islamism and Sam's role in inspiring her public advocacy work. We then tackle the concept of belief more broadly, diving into Sam's understanding of atheism and what sets it apart from the views of other atheist thinkers like Matt Dillahunty and Richard Dawkins. We also revisit an infamous conversation between Sam and Jordan Peterson, wherein they attempt to come to some universal definition of the word “truth.” The episode concludes with two Q&A portions from life events in which Sam addresses some real concerns about purpose and meaning in the absence of religion.
