I'm honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with Olipop soda? If not, you'll definitely want to acquaint yourself with this healthy, crisp and refreshing beverage that has no GMO's, organic with natural ingredients that you can read. They have the classics (Vintage Cola, Root Beer, Ginger Ale, Lemon Lime) as well as new flavors that are irresistible (Banana Cream, Watermelon Lime and my favorite, Tropical Punch) Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, type in SODALOVE for 15% off of your purchase. Fasten your seatbelts as this edition will be a sports roller coaster ride with pah-lenty of highs/lows, twists and turns that'll have your cup spilling over. On deck: (4:11) The NBA's second weekend was more thrilling than the previous one as there's a lot to uncover. The Clippers and Mavericks played a thriller in Game 4 as the Clips even the series at 2 from the heroics of Paul George and James Harden. Kyrie Irving almost pulled his team from the dead as they were down 31 in the second quarter, but fell short. The Bucks are on life support as they are facing a 3-1 series deficit with no Giannis Antetokounmpo, and perhaps no Damian Lillard as the Pacers look to wrap up their series. How the past 365+ for the Bucks have been a complete nightmare? I'll further explain. I'll also expound on the Phoenix Suns being the first team departed from the postseason as they were swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Give credit to Anthony Edwards and their maturity over the past couple of years, but this Suns team is facing some tough times ahead. With three players (Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal) who are suffocating their payroll, will this team ever compete for an NBA Finals? What about the legacy of Kevin Durant? I'll divulge my thoughts and also, why it's smart for the Suns to trade Durant this offseason? I'll discuss the other series (PHI-NY, MIA-BOS, NO-OKC, LAL-DEN, ORL-CLE) in detail as we're getting into the deep end of the first round. (31:59) The Stanley Cup Playoffs have been underwhelming, which is a surprise. We have one sweep in the books (Rangers over Capitals) one series that's 2-1 (Vegas up on Dallas) and the other six are at 3-1, isn't shaping up to have one go seven games. The Predators suffered one of the most bitter defeats that you can ever imagine. Choking a two goal lead with three minutes to go and losing in OT to go down 3-1 back to Vancouver. Can they (or the Islanders, Lightning, Kings, Maple Leafs and Jets) extend their series to a sixth game? (47:59) Another NFL Draft is in the books. I'll recap the highlights of Round 1, which was lacking drama or intrigue. Plus, other notable players that were drafted in the later rounds. The Shield (aka the NFL) are mulling an 18 game schedule with the Super Bowl falling on President's Weekend. How do I feel about that? (1:04:54) There was baseball in Mexico over the weekend? Was MLB trying to keep this a secret/under wraps? Why wasn't this promoted? Well, the Astros and Rockies matched up for a couple of games as the league expands their visibility outside of the United States. One series that I'm all over is the Yankees invading Baltimore for the first time this year in a battle for AL East supremacy. I'll take a look at what else is happening in the sport as we're just past the first month of the season. Easily the week of the West Marches. Starting with my halfling wizard's Arden Vul adventure to helping my local gamers launch their own IRL West Marches games. It's got me thinking about other non-fantasy applications. On the Gauntlet, we've wrapped up a three-session run of Fading Suns with Lowell Francis at the helm. He also hosted a Zoom talk about Legacy 2E: Life among the Ruins. Best practices, some thoughts around running the game, hacking the game. Pretty much talked me into running Legacy again on The Gauntlet using some of these new insights. Also wrapped up Rebels of the Outlaw Wastes with Micael Addison of Nerdy Pup Games. Rebels of the Outlaw Wastes has players exploring a hyper-saturated dystopian world that's being controlled by a tyrannical collective of powers. And the usual suspects - Twilight 2000, Cortex work on Lifted: Indomitable.Support the show

Fading SunsFading Suns on The Gauntlet. Lowell Francis trying out the system, and you can tell he's down his prep. I'm playing an Ur-Ukar witch with TK-like abilities. We've taken up a mission from a noble to be his escort and eyes and ears in a hostile system. Fading Suns has pulled at me for some years now; I'm hoping to jump-start my future runs of it by playing it first. At its core, it is a Skill + ability roll under system. This was our session one, and we got a small, easy skirmish under our belt so far.Into the OddIn Dragonslayers, using Into the Odd, I play a reluctant tailor pressed into military service against the dragon empire. The dragons have won, and we're left in the aftermath of many battles. This was mostly session zero, making characters and setting up things. Our first act next session is to free our captured griffin riders and griffins!!Judd also runs games out on StartPlaying.games, and I paid to play his Spelljammer + Into the odd game: Rock of Braal. (I'll have more to say very soon about paying to play and GM-for-hire) I played a warden, one of two survivors off a gith vessel. The other was an Illithid captive. We both took on a bounty from a ghost pirate to recover his stolen goods. Into the Odd is a great system for getting folks in fast and keeping them hooked through the session. I forget I much I LOVE combat mechanics where there is a free & clear declaration step, followed by the dice then reading the outcomes!Rebels of the Outlaw Wastes - Session 01Centered in the apocalypse of Florida, I play an ex-Imagineer, (ex-jackboot in Outlaw parlance) trying to escape my former employer. With the help of an Abe Lincoln animatronic, an Alligator-Man hybrid, and a gothic biker with electricity powers. We flee into the swamp -bogs of Florida chased by Imagineer security on hoverboards!Big thanks to Michael Addison of Nerdy Pup Games for running his new game on Actual Play!Champions Now - Lifted. The KC Defenders get stomped by Protheseus agents during a simple recon of the downtown train yard. The rail house was, in fact, not abandoned or empty. I still get a kick out of agents as hazard rules in Champions Now, especially when player characters try to ignore the agents!Sci-fi West MarchesReading the Gateway saga. Looking to use the premise of an abandoned alien space station and its network of ships and unknown routes as a column in a Sci-Fi West Marches game. Currently hacking BX via OSE to get the play experience I want.Prepping Remember TomorrowAnother Gregor Hutton jam that holds up great n these modern times. It's a cyberpunk RPG, GM-less, but best with a facilitator. You play troupe-style Gibsonesque characters at odds with various factions. What did you play last week?Support the show
War is coming to the systems. Raids have increased. The Vadrok have become uneasy without war. The tenuous peace treaty in place has turned, unofficially, into guidelines. A diplomatic mission is attempted by Sir Veros and his crew, but when the Vadrok decide to take their chances against the prince the party will need to survive a most unforgiving half of a world to make it home. Part 2 of 3 A homebrew game, created by GM Ty, set within the Fading Suns universe. Come listen to us building up our characters. This week we have Andrew Greenberg, co-creator of the upcoming Tabletop RPG Fading Suns: Pax Alexius, to talk all about the art of creating Tabletop RPG's, how they differ from creating video games, and how we can still play our tabletop games in the current era of social distancing. I talk a little bit about my time with Final Fantasy VII Remake, and that I find the easy mode just right for what I wanted to experience for my money. In the call with OLR, we also talked about how the remake has affected us and also talked about how we're coping with the current times.

Bill Bridges worked on some of the most phenomenal game products of the 1990s at White Wolf, and he's back with a Kickstarter for a new edition of Fading Suns, the far-future RPG of sci-fi passion! Ben’s book on RPG adventure design, Encounter Theory, is on DriveThruRPG. Click here to pick up this essential volume! Like Plot Points? Support it on Patreon at the $2 level, and you’ll get a sneak peek into Ben’s book about the sale of TSR to Wizards of the Coast! This chapter concerns TSR West, an effort by TSR to open an LA office devoted to producing comic books, an effort that failed rather impressively. It is the product of a dozen interviews with professionals from comics, gaming, and Hollywood, and as far as I can reckon, it is a tale entirely untold until now. Image courtesy Ulisses Spiele.

This week we're joined by Andrew Greenberg, probably one of the most prolific game designers we've gotten to interview. Andrew was one of the original White Wolf developers of Vampire: The Masquerade, worked on video games that span from Emperor of the Fading Suns to Mall Tycoon, and is a director of SIEGE, a southern game development conference. In this episode, we discuss the pitfalls of the ESRB, the lethality of latex pleasure devices, and the relative worth of game developers in comparison to lawyers.[MP3 AUDIO]Haunted House TycoonSIEGE:Southern Interactive Entertainment & Game ExpoDo all your Amazon shopping via the DWP storefront, and help support our shows!Try a free audiobook and support the show![LINK] Skyrim mods to be available in Steam Workshop[LINK] Bioshock Infinite trailer did not remove religious lyrics[LINK] 2 million deaths by dildo in Saints Row the Third[LINK] Humble Bundle[LINK] X-mas Indie Royale Bundle[LINK] Little Big Bunch[LINK] The 99% Bundle
How Game Design Evolved into an Art Form with Andrew Greenberg Today on the Comcastro podcast, Maximüs Groves and guest host Matthew Queen talk with Andrew Greenberg, President of the Georgia Game Developers Association, member of the Joseph Campbell Foundation, helped to found the Mythic Imagination Institute, and is co-chair of the Mythic Journeys convention. Greenberg, a game designer of tabletop role-playing games and role-playing video games, was one of White Wolf Publishing's original game developers for Vampire: The Masquerade and has worked on such titles as Mall Tycoon, Fading Suns, Dracula Unleashed, and Rapture: The Second Coming. Over the course of two hours, we speculate with Andrew on the state of the gaming industry, debate the virtues of gaming, and reflect on the evolution of the art form. The conversation turns to military applications, cognitive effect, the legacy of Street Fighter, and the power of myth.
Chris is joined by Pete, and together they take an in depth look at the renowned SciFi space opera, Fading Suns. They cover topics such as the setting itself, the game mechanics, and also quickly review the host of player options in the game plus give their own opinions on the game. If you like World of Darkness game and want a SciFi game with the same sort of feel, this one is perhaps worth a shot. Enjoy.
