Forskarane fekk nærmast sjokk da dei analyserte resultata etter at 140 brystkreftoverlevarar hadde vore gjennom fem månadar med trening. Nå meiner fleire at forskingsfunna bør revolusjonere behandlingsforløpet til kreftpasientar.  I denne episoden får du om NIH-studien "The Cause" som du kanskje har hørt og lest om på TV 2 nylig.  Kort oppsummert: 140 brystkreftoverlevarar var med i forskningsprosjektet og alle hadde hatt brystkreft for 10-15 år sidan. Dei blei plassert i to forskjellige grupper, der ei gruppe fekk treningsprogram og blei fylgd opp over fem månadar med tre treningsøkter i veka. Den andre gruppa trena ikkje. Jennifer Funn has been named the director of the Baltimore region Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of Maryland. The new region will provide services to businesses and entrepreneurs in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. The region is one of 6 centers and more than 23 locations serving Maryland businesses.  As the director, Ms. Funn will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing all programs offered by the SBDC; identifying resource requirements and strategies in the delivery of such programs and services; and securing and maintaining the funding necessary to accomplish program goals and objectives in this diverse area of the state.  "I am committed to expanding the Maryland Small Business Development Center's services to assist Baltimore City and Baltimore County's entrepreneurs grow and sustain their businesses,“ says Funn. "Jennifer's knowledge of Baltimore City and Baltimore County, the breadth and depth of her contacts in each, and her knowledge of the SBDC make her an ideal first director of our new Baltimore region," says Paul Bardack, executive director of the Maryland SBDC Program.  Funn has initiated several innovative programs and was named an outstanding staff member by the University of Maryland. This week we watched the 2004 zombie movie Dawn of the Dead which our friend of the show (false) James Gunn at least partially wrote. Funn fact! Now quit reading and get into the guts of this episode!When her husband is attacked by a zombified neighbor, Ana (Sarah Polley) manages to escape, only to realize her entire Milwaukee neighborhood has been overrun by the walking dead. After being questioned by cautious policeman Kenneth (Ving Rhames), Ana joins him and a small group that gravitates to the local shopping mall as a bastion of safety. Once they convince suspicious security guards that they are not contaminated, the group bands together to fight the undead hordes.

Do You Snore? Are You Sleeping With A Snorer? According to the research peeps  OnePoll, 51% of Americans snore.  A new little product may just mute the snoring! It's called MUTE! (Sounds like a realtionship saver!)  Michael J. Breus, Ph.D.  “The Sleep Doctor”  joined me to talk snoring. He's the Clinical Psychologist for Diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He explained, many people breathe through their mouth, which causes a vibration in the back of the throat that can result in snoring. Mute, he said, is an FDA-approved nasal dilator that sits inside the nose to increase airflow, improve nose breathing, and reduce snoring. (Looks do-able not that I snore or anything.) Funn thing about snoring you got to admit it's kinda funny , but in truth it's no joke. 39% of Americans who snore or live with someone who snores say their sleep is disrupted between one and three times each week. And it's leaving them so tired that 34% are oversleeping, and 24% have fallen asleep at work. Severe snoring, where the snorer stops breathing between inhalations, may be a sign of sleep apnea and should be checked by a sleep specialist. I our podcast chat Dr. Breus explains what happens to your heart if you ignore severe snoring. Let's just say it ain't pretty. So What About This New Little Thing Mute?  In product trials, 78% of Mute users could breathe better and 75% snored less. 59% of snorers are ages 45-54, 56% are ages 35-44 and 54% are ages 55-64. 51% of U.S. adults who snore are men and 57% of men admitted to being a snorer. More than any other region, 53% of residents in New York, Washington, Connecticut and the surrounding states keep their partners or housemates awake from snoring. (I'll report back once I do a trial run, not that I snore or anything) Michael J. Breus is a double board-certified Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Sleep Specialist. He is one of only 168 psychologists in the world to have taken and passed the Sleep Medicine Boards without going to Medical School. He's the author of four books with the newest book (2021) Energize!
