It's been a hot minute since we've had a solid theme episode around Nicolas Cage. But just grabbing three movies of our patron saint is too easy. The man has a long filmography which makes it way too easy to cherry pick. So we decided to narrow things down and focus on Westerns made with Cage. First up is Gunslingers[2025]. We start off with some atrocious CGI establishing the era and time. Three men get into a fight, one gets burnt and another gets shot. Fast forward to a town called Redemption where retired outlaws all hide out. Mr Burnface shows up looking for his brother. The dead man in … Continue reading "Popcorn Pulse 247: Butchering Westerns"

Anthony Sowell, known as The Cleveland Strangler, was a former Marine who became one of Ohio's most notorious serial killers. Between 2007 and 2009, Sowell lured vulnerable women to his home on Imperial Avenue in Cleveland, where he raped and murdered at least 11 victims, hiding their remains throughout his property. Despite complaints of foul smells and reports of missing women, authorities failed to act until a woman escaped his home in 2009, triggering a gruesome discovery.Subscribe to our YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/@bangdangnetworkBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/outlaws-gunslingers--4737234/support.

Send us a textStep back in time to the dusty, lawless streets of Dodge City, Kansas as we unravel the enigmatic legend of "Mysterious" Dave Mathers over glasses of Knob Creek bourbon. Few characters in Western lore earned their nicknames more honestly than Mathers, whose life story combines gunfights, peculiar behavior, and ultimately, a disappearance that sealed his place in frontier mythology. We trace Mathers' journey from his early days as a horse thief running with Dave Rudabaugh to his arrival in Dodge City around 1874. After surviving a near-fatal knife attack and forming an unusual business relationship with local physician Dr. Thomas McCarty, Mathers embarked on a colorful career that regularly blurred the line between lawman and outlaw. You'll hear the hilarious tale of "the conversion of Dave Mather," where he exposed a preacher's congregation as hypocrites with a well-placed gunshot, and discover his unique method for testing his sobriety—shooting at the town fire bell after leaving saloons. The heart of our story follows Mathers through his time with the notorious "Dodge City Gang" in Las Vegas, New Mexico, his return to Dodge as assistant marshal, and his fateful, escalating feud with town founder Tom Nixon. Their rivalry over politics, business competition, and a woman culminated in one of Dodge City's most telling shootouts—where Mathers killed Nixon with four bullets and walked away free on self-defense claims, despite the shooting occurring weeks after Nixon's initial attempt on his life. What happened to Mysterious Dave after that deadly encounter? Like many aspects of his life, his ultimate fate remains shrouded in mystery—a fitting end for a man whose very nickname acknowledged the enigma of his existence. Join us for this captivating glimpse into frontier justice, personalities, and the complex moral code that governed the American West.Support the showIf you'd like to buy one or more of our fully illustrated dime novel publications, you can click the link I've included. The Dark Tower is a woeful adaptation of Stephen King's beloved book series. Condensing seven mainline stories into one undercooked film, The Dark Tower lacks any of the elements that made the novels so special. It's a speed run, dumbing down the world and its lore so much that there's really no audience for it. Fans of the books were left dumbstruck, and newcomers were just confused. The Dark Tower is a textbook example of not understanding the property you're adapting. And it very much deserves its 16% on Rotten Tomatoes. No thankee sai, Sony. You botched the hell out of this one. Now, sit back, settle your mind with Black Caddis Porter from Wren House Brewing, and never forget the face of your father! In this episode of My Fame, Explained, host Larry Gilbert sits down with the dynamic and multitalented Mohamed Karim — a true global force in entertainment. From humble beginnings in Cairo to starring alongside Nicolas Cage, Heather Graham, and Stephen Dorff in the upcoming Lionsgate Western Gunslingers (in theaters April 11, 2025), Karim's journey is anything but ordinary.Mohamed shares the gripping story of how, at just 16 years old, he arrived in Los Angeles alone, speaking barely any English, and talked his way into El Segundo High School with the simple phrase, “Me attend school here?” That bold step launched a remarkable career that now spans continents and genres. We dive into his acclaimed performances in international hits like Shahata's Store, Stolen Kisses, and Facebook Romance, which earned him multiple Best Actor awards across the U.S., Egypt, and Europe — including honors from the Arab Film Festival, the Egyptian Oscars, and Monaco's International Film Festival. Karim also opens up about his time hosting The Voice Arabia, his unexpected journey through medical school, and the power of relentless self-belief.Plus, Mohamed teases what's next: a series of upcoming films including Storm, Desert Crossing, Tarot, Blooded, and One Love, as well as his highly anticipated conversation at the 2025 Arab Film Festival in LA with filmmaker Brian Skiba.Whether you're a fan of international cinema, aspiring to break into Hollywood, or just love a good underdog story, this episode will leave you inspired to chase your dreams — no matter where you start.Follow Mohamed Karim on Instagram.Follow Larry Gilbert on InstagramFollow the My Fame, Explained podcast on:FacebookInstagramTikTokLinkedInYouTube

On this month's serial killer episode we profile Herbert Mullin, who terrorized Santa Cruz, California, in the early 1970s. Born in 1947, Mullin's life spiraled from a promising high school student voted "Most Likely to Succeed" to a paranoid schizophrenic driven by delusions and hallucinatory commands. Believing his murders were necessary to prevent catastrophic earthquakes, Mullin claimed 13 lives over just four months in 1972–1973.Subscribe to our YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/@bangdangnetworkBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/outlaws-gunslingers--4737234/support.

Find out more and sign up at https://inventium.com.au/genai-cohort/ *** If you’re wrestling with Gen AI prompts - getting outputs that are “just okay” and wasting time going back and forth, you’re probably doing it wrong. Neo Aplin, Inventium’s Gen AI expert, calls this “gunslinging.” It’s a fast-and-loose approach that leads to mediocre results. The smarter way? It’s called “architecting”- a method that helps you co-create with AI for complex tasks like strategy papers, training workshops, and reports. In this episode, Neo breaks down how to use architecting to get AI working like a true thinking partner and not just a text generator. We discuss: Why “gunslinging” leads to frustration and wasted time How to “architect” your AI prompts for better results The types of tasks where architecting will supercharge your work Tips for using architecting with tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot Key quotes: “Most people are gunslingers - they shoot from the hip and hope for the best.” “Architecting is like designing a house before you build it. It makes the whole process faster, smoother, and way more effective.” “If you want AI to work as a true thinking partner, you need to co-create with it - not just give it a prompt and hope for the best.” My latest book The Health Habit is out now. The seed of the idea for Irish author Kevin Barry’s latest novel was planted more than 25 years ago. But it wasn’t until late into the pandemic as he was walking in the countryside and had a vision of a young couple on horseback riding double that he decided to write The Heart in Winter. Set in 1890s Montana, the book is a savagely funny and achingly romantic tale of young lovers on the lam. On this week’s episode Michael chats with Kevin about The Heart in Winter and why these days, glamorous sentences are not the most important thing in his writing. It started with a story about Mage Hand Press' Gunslinger class being available basically ala carte on D&D Beyond. That turned into supercharged debate about whether guns fit or belong in the classic fantasy setting typically associated with D&D. Inver did her best to moderate. The Gunslingers hosted the Steamwheelers for Retro Night. As fun as the party was off the field, on the field injury and turnovers hurt San Antonio. What do Pathfinder classes, Muppet horror, and himbo culture have in common? Absolutely nothing—so obviously we made a whole episode about it. Big thanks to Dungeon Master Adamantine for sponsoring this episode—if you want to roll dice in Greece with a professional GM who can out-roleplay Zeus himself, summon Nick at dungeonmasteradamantine.com or book him Startplaying: https://startplaying.games/gm/dmadamantine (but maybe not during a boss fight). In the third (and arguably most chaotic) installment of our deep dive into Pathfinder classes, the RPGBOT.Podcast crew goes full gremlin. Join Ash, Randall, and Tyler as they discuss the remastering of Pathfinder, family hijinks, the unexpected depth of 'himbo' culture, the musical Wicked, and how to reimagine Sesame Street as a TTRPG murder mystery. Also, yes—we talk about actual Pathfinder classes. Probably more than you'd expect given how much time we spend dunking on action economy and imagining eldritch Elmo. This episode features critical evaluations of the Animist, Exemplar, Gunslinger, Inventor, Kineticist, Magus, Psychic, Summoner, and Thaumaturge classes. Which ones are too complex for beginners? Which are secretly brilliant? Which would Kermit play? All this and more in an episode that sounds like it was brainstormed on a sticky note found in a Waffle House parking lot. Archives of Nethys (affiliate link) Sesame Street Content from RPGBOT.news PF2 Character Optimization RPGBOT.Podcast Episodes PF2 Starting Classes Part 1 PF2 Starting Classes Part 2 Dark Archive Review Guns and Gears Remastered Review Rage of Elements Review War of Immortals Review Key Takeaways The Vibes: Podcasting is hard. Podcasting while discussing Muppet horror fiction? Harder. Humor is a necessary survival skill—especially in family life and game design. Yes, you can enjoy Wicked without knowing the entire Wizard of Oz lore tree. Himbo culture is more than just muscles and charm—it's a way of life. Classy Evaluations: Animist – “What if your divine caster was also a spirit medium with an emotional support ghost?” Surprisingly elegant. Exemplar – A mythic powerhouse designed for epic-level play. Great if you like spreadsheets and divine empowerment. Gunslinger – Surprisingly tactical. Better than expected. Imagine Yosemite Sam, but with feat optimization. Inventor – Simple. Straightforward. Hits things with science. Ideal for players who want to cosplay as Iron Goblin. Kineticist – Offers power and flavor, but the mechanical complexity is dense. Approach with coffee and patience. Magus – Action economy is a problem. Looks amazing on paper, but in practice, it's like juggling flaming swords while solving a Rubik's Cube. Psychic – Big flavor, intimidating mechanics. Could be brilliant, could be brain-melting. Much like psychic powers, really. Summoner – You share HP with your pet kaiju. It's a relationship built on trust, trauma, and tactical retreat. Thaumaturge – A fan favorite. Big bag of tricks, satisfying mechanics, and good for players who like yelling “Your weakness is friendship!” Creative Chaos: Elmo as an unknowable horror from the Darkest House? Canon. Kermit the Frog: bard? gunslinger? morally neutral cleric? All viable builds. You can adapt Sesame Street to a Pathfinder game, but you probably shouldn't. But if you do, please invite us. Meta Moments: Some Paizo devs are probably listening. Hi! We love you. Please don't smite us. Podcast guests matter. Good ones make everything better. Bad ones get reincarnated as spellcasters with 3-action teleports and no way to cast them. The community continues to influence Paizo's design—your feedback does matter. Listener Homework Build a Thaumaturge with a Sesame Street theme. Bonus points for cursed items shaped like puppets. Try Wicked. Then stat out Elphaba as a Witch with the Hex trait. Ask yourself: Are you the himbo in your party? Complain about Magus' action economy online. It's tradition.
