In this episode with Sander we talk about finding a balance within yourself and around you. Events and moments in your life might be the hardest you have ever been through but with the right mindset and support around you, you will learn and grow from that. After not seeing each other for many years, this episode was basically a catch-up call. Sander Heyns, 27 from Belgium is an Event Manager and my oldest friend. We were friends from the age of 2.5 years old. He is a true workaholic. He lives in Antwerp where he runs a company that organizes events in and outside Belgium, caters for them and makes sure it's the best event the client has seen by telling a story with the concept. He is very ambitious but that also made him burn himself by partnering up with the wrong people, persisting on the right path, and following his dreams gave him another chance that brought him great success.

L'Avenir's rich history dates back to the late 1600s, when the estate was one of the very first sites identified for grape growing by the Cape's earliest European settlers. READ MORE HERE - https://bitmedia24.com/about-the-winelands-35-an-interview-with-dr-edo-heyns-strategic-development-and-marketing-manager-of-lavenir-estate-stellenbosch/ The estate was renamed L'Avenir in 1992 by Mark Wiehe, a Mauritian businessman, who left a career of trading sugar in London to purchase the farm. This was the start of specialisation of this unique boutique winery. Wiehe appointed former pharmacist Francois Naude as winemaker and the estate swiftly gained recognition for its distinctive Pinotage and Chenin Blanc. In 2005, L'Avenir was acquired by the owner of the prestigious Chablis property, Laroche, Chablisien Michel Laroche. In 2007, under the mentorship of Naudé, current winemaker Dirk Coetzee joined the farm after completing his degree in Viticulture & Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch. The young maverick was instrumental in shifting the focus to L'Avenir's top performing single vineyards – resulting in the now famous L'Avenir Single Block range. In 2012, the Laroche and JeanJean families combined forces to create Advini. This marked the start of a new era for L'Avenir, as it joined a family of some of the most acclaimed and awarded wines in the world.

“A Poor Season for Whales (Jonathan Ball) by multi-award winning author and literary translator, Michiel Heyns, grabbed me from the first page – such is the tension with which he’s infused it. “Right up front we read about the almost-staid architect, ‘it was hardly to be foreseen that in her fifty- sixth year she would kill a man with a kitchen knife.’ The ex-wife of a husband who’s left her for another man, turns her back on Cape Town and settles in Hermanus. Clever, elegant, sumptuous reading. “Few of us alive when Ahmed Timol (29) was pushed to his death out of the notorious John Vorster Square police station will ever forget it. His nephew, Imtiaz A. Cajee’s book, The Murder of Ahmed Timol (Jacana), provides a compelling account of the gentle youngster’s life and killing. Neil Aggett’s death in the same station followed a decade later. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/millertimemedia/support

The book has everything: vivid imagery, beautiful descriptions, fascinating characters, gripping dialogue, understated humour, an intriguing plot, a sharp knife hanging over it and a dassie-chasing Doberman named Benjy. John Dovgan: “I have been retained by Defendants and Plaintiffs’ counsel as an expert in the area of dental standard of care. I have been a continually practicing full-time dentist for over 26 years and currently practice in Phoenix, Arizona. I have been a board approved consultant for over 20 years, adjudicating more than 1,000 dental board cases in Arizona. The primary responsibility of a board-approved consultant is to understand and define the standard of care and deviations from the standard of care. I have adjudicated cases that include failure to diagnosis, failure to treat dental conditions, dental fraud, inadequate treatment, over treatment, death of a patient, over sedation, inappropriate behaviors of a doctor and/or staff, inadequate clinical practice, inadequate treatment planning, appropriateness of care, and board generated cases due to malpractice settlements or awards. I have adjudicated cases in all fields of dentistry.   I was appointed by the Governor of the State of Arizona as their Dental Expert Witness for the Parsons’s v. Ryan class action lawsuit in 2013. I also was chosen by the Attorney General of the State of Michigan as their Dental Expert Witness for their class action lawsuit (Johannes v. Heyns) as well as Dental Defense Expert in the Federal Detainee Case in Illinois (Smego v. Mitchell).   In addition, I currently consult and provide expert reports to the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners. I developed the only board-approved template used by dental consultants and board members as a guideline to assess appropriateness of care.   Also, I have been retained as a dental expert witness in over 100 cases for both defendants and plaintiffs since the beginning of 2010 due to my expertise in the standard of care. I have over 3,000 hours of continuing education, including advanced training in prosthetics (both removable and fixed), dental implants, risk management, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Computer-Aided Design (CAD/CAM), Cone Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT), full mouth reconstruction, digital x-rays, endodontics, and lasers (both hard and soft tissue). I have been a beta tester for Dentrix, a dental software program commonly used by dentists throughout the United States, and I am familiar with other commonly used dental software programs.   Furthermore, I have lectured and done live patient demonstrations using both hard and soft tissue lasers. I have taught hundreds of dentists how to operate dental lasers, and I have published in restorative implant dentistry.   “DOCS” has utilized several suggestions I have made in establishing Standard of Care guidelines for sedation protocols as well as incorporated labels for emergency kits I help develop. Additionally, I am a board-approved anesthesia evaluator and onsite inspection evaluator for the State of Arizona. I administer oral examinations and onsite inspections for anesthesia 1303 permits.   Lastly, I currently lecture on “The Standard of Care — What is it? What is it not?” as well as do Webinars for continuing education.”   www.dovgandental.com
