Patrick Moorhead and Daniel Newman break down a massive week in enterprise tech, from Google Cloud Next's full-stack AI push and Amazon's $100 billion Anthropic commitment, to Apple's leadership transition and Intel's long-awaited foundry validation courtesy of Elon Musk. The handpicked topics for this week are: Google Cloud Next 2026: Full-Stack AI and New TPUs — Google Cloud Next has cemented itself as the second-biggest AI event on the calendar, with Thomas Kurian declaring the proof-of-concept era over and enterprises now in full production mode with agents. Google unveiled two next-generation TPUs (the 8i for training and the 8t for high-throughput inference) and reinforced its full-stack differentiation from infrastructure through Gemini Enterprise Workspace. (The Decode) Google's Agentic Security and MCP Push — Google made a significant move into agentic security, combining Wiz and Mandiant into what Pat calls a sleeper announcement of the show. Google also committed to placing MCP servers across all of its data surfaces, meaning even non-Google platforms can tap into Google data without full lock-in. (The Decode) Google Distributed Cloud and On-Prem Agentic Orchestration — Google took the biggest first step Patrick has seen toward a true agentic orchestrator that spans on-prem enterprise and public cloud through progress on Google Distributed Cloud. No other company has yet attempted cross-environment agent coordination at this level. (The Decode) Amazon's $100 Billion Anthropic Commitment — Amazon formalized a commitment of up to $100 billion into Anthropic, including five gigawatts of Trainium capacity, making it the largest non-NVIDIA silicon commitment in history. Anthropic's valuation crossed $1 trillion just weeks after a $350 billion raise, a pace that has left even veteran analysts searching for new language. (The Decode) Adobe Summit 2026: Enterprise Agents and Jensen's Endorsement — Jensen Huang took the stage at Adobe Summit to deepen the NVIDIA-Adobe partnership, calling agentic workflows the new front end for SaaS rather than a replacement for it. Adobe reported $250 million in Firefly ARR and 45% quarter-over-quarter growth in agentic tool usage, yet the stock continued to disappoint investors expecting hypergrowth multiples. (The Decode) Apple's New CEO: John Ternus and Tim Cook's Legacy — Apple named John Ternus as its fourth CEO, closing the book on Tim Cook's 15-year tenure marked by custom silicon success, services expansion, and operational excellence, alongside misses in Vision Pro, the abandoned car project, and Siri's failure to become the AI front end it should have been. Ternus is a continuity hardware candidate, and the most consequential decision may prove to be keeping Johny Srouji over all of hardware. (The Decode) Intel Foundry: Elon Musk, TerraFab, and 14A Validation — One day before Intel's earnings print, Elon Musk publicly confirmed TeraFab will use Intel's 14A process, delivering the first verifiable public wafer commitment on that node. Intel then reported a 23% stock surge, 22% data center growth, and EPS of $0.29 against a $0.01 street consensus. (The Decode) The Flip: TSMC vs. Semiconductor Equipment Makers — Pat and Dan take hard opposing stances on who holds more power in the AI supply chain: TSMC with its control of over 90% of advanced AI silicon and irreplaceable process expertise, or the equipment oligopoly of ASML, Applied Materials, LAM, and KLA without whom no leading-edge fab can operate. The real answer, they conclude, is deep interdependence, though TSMC's combination of talent and leading-edge control gives it outsized leverage today. (The Flip) Intel — Intel's earnings were a blowout across the board, with data center up 22%, EPS of $0.29 versus a $0.01 estimate, and guide raised, driven by CPU price increases, customer pull-ins, and packaging volume growth. Hosts discuss whether the stock at current levels is pricing in foundry revenue that has barely begun to materialize on the tape. (Bulls and Bears) GE Vernova and Vertiv — GE Vernova posted a beat on revenue and EPS with orders up 71% organically and a $163 billion backlog, while Vertiv reported sales up 30% and raised forward guidance to $14 billion. Both companies reflect the acute power infrastructure demand tied to data center buildout, with Patrick noting their growth was likely already baked into share prices heading into the print. (Bulls and Bears) ServiceNow — ServiceNow beat across the board with a Rule of 57 growth result and AI run rate up to $1.5 billion, 50% above its prior target, though margin headwinds from three acquisitions and on-prem impacts from the Middle East conflict weighed on sentiment. Daniel argues the market has not yet accepted that workflow automation at enterprise scale will not be replaced by vibe-coded alternatives. (Bulls and Bears) IBM — IBM posted a triple beat with Red Hat up 13%, software up 11%, and Z mainframe up 48%, the latter driven in part by AI-assisted COBOL modernization tools making the platform newly relevant. The stock slid after hours despite the results, continuing a pattern Patrick describes simply as silly season for enterprise infrastructure names. (Bulls and Bears) SAP — SAP beat on revenue and earnings with cloud revenue up 19%, cloud backlog up 20%, and total backlog up 25%, reinforcing that enterprise ERP customers are not moving away from core platforms. Daniel and Patrick agree this is another data point showing enterprises are building AI on top of existing software stacks, not tearing them out. When a single mismanaged tech transfer threatens an entire development program, pressure on CMC leaders and bioprocess teams is intense. The truth? Tech transfers aren't a black box. They're complex, but solvable with the right mindset and playbook. In this episode, David Brühlmann explores the practical side of tech transfer and scale-up within the biotech industry. With more than 15 years of experience, he shares personal stories and industry-tested frameworks that help demystify the complexities of transferring technologies between sites or organizations. Instead of focusing solely on technical details, he emphasizes the crucial human and organizational factors that often decide project success or failure.Key topics discussed:How mapping and managing stakeholders can resolve hidden issues and accelerate projects (01:55)Case studies highlighting the importance of environmental factors — like light exposure — in process performance and troubleshooting (05:50)A mass transfer checklist for bioprocess scale-up, with specific focus on equipment-related parameters (07:09)The build vs. outsource dilemma: how to choose what to keep in-house and what to partner out, depending on company strategy and project phase (08:05)A 12-week tech transfer preparation protocol, covering foundations, risk mitigation, and execution readiness (10:16)Lessons on leadership, prioritization, and effective delegation to avoid personal and organizational bottlenecks (13:28)Whether you're overseeing a complex CMC program, navigating CDMO relationships, or planning your next scale-up, this episode offers concrete steps to cut through confusion and deliver results. If you're interested in the ideas discussed, here are some of the guests David referenced in this episode.Episodes 91 - 92: Mass Transfer Secrets: Mastering Bubbles and kLa from Bench to Large-Scale Production with Lars Puiman & Rik VolgerEpisodes 79 - 80: Think Before You Build: Holistic Approaches to Biotech Facility Design with Alfredo Martínez MogarraEpisodes 57 - 58: Crafting a Solid CMC Strategy: Key Factors and Common Pitfalls with Matthias MüllnerEpisodes 23 - 24: Strategies for Success: Master CMC Development with Gene LeeSupport the show
What if the hidden cost of your bioprocess lies not in the technology, but in what you don't document?Too often, biotech teams discover too late that their “proven” process is just an illusion, propped up by undocumented tricks and missing critical parameters. In this episode, David Brühlmann strips down the assumptions behind scale-up and tech transfer, exposing the silent risks that threaten CMC milestones and market launches alike. After 15 years guiding biotech projects from bench to clinic, he's felt the pain of process gaps, regulatory curveballs, and million-dollar mistakes. Here, he turns that experience into a tactical guide designed to save you from the same pitfalls. In this episode, you'll learn about:The 6-pillar approach to turning tech transfer into a managed process, rather than a gamble (03:09)Why mass transfer physics and factors like kLA are critical—and how they can make or break a process at scale (05:12)The importance of analytical comparability, including the common blind spots in sampling plans and method validation (07:19)Establishing a solid Quality by Design (QbD) foundation and defining critical quality attributes before transfer, not after failures (08:33)Stakeholder management and why non-technical challenges often derail projects (with more on this in Part 2) (10:09)Evaluating CDMO partners: What selection criteria really matter for long-term success and risk mitigation (11:03)Strategic decision-making: Building core capabilities versus outsourcing, and how to avoid unnecessary costs and delays (12:22)This episode sets the stage for Part 2, where David Brühlmann will share practical stories and detailed frameworks for real-world implementation. If you manage bioprocess scale-up, tech transfer, or CMC development, you'll find plenty of actionable insights to apply in your own work.If you're interested in the ideas discussed, here are some of the guests David referenced in this episode.Episodes 91 - 92: Mass Transfer Secrets: Mastering Bubbles and kLa from Bench to Large-Scale Production with Lars Puiman & Rik VolgerEpisodes 79 - 80: Think Before You Build: Holistic Approaches to Biotech Facility Design with Alfredo Martínez MogarraEpisodes 57 - 58: Crafting a Solid CMC Strategy: Key Factors and Common Pitfalls with Matthias MüllnerEpisodes 23 - 24: Strategies for Success: Master CMC Development with Gene LeeSupport the show
Originally recorded at SXSW 2026: The next generation of high-growth companies isn't clustering on the coasts—they're choosing mid-sized tech hubs known for talent density, R&D strength, collaboration, and capital efficiency. This panel explores the national rise of “opportunity-driven ecosystems,” using Ann Arbor as a case study in how a city can punch far above its weight in sectors like mobility, life sciences, AI, and advanced manufacturing. Hear from founders, corporate innovation leaders, and ecosystem builders on what actually drives them to choose places like Ann Arbor; how partnerships with global R&D giants (KLA, Sartorius, Torc, Wacker) accelerate local innovation; and why mid-sized hubs are becoming magnets for both startups and established companies. If you're building, scaling, or investing, this session will reveal what high-performing ecosystems outside traditional coastal markets get right—and how companies leverage them for faster, more sustainable growth.

James Corbett appears in two separate interviews for KLA.TV. In the second, he goes in-depth on the Epstein files and what they reveal about the operations of the kakistocracy.

This week on Elite Rugby Banter, we unpack a weekend of rugby that felt like it was scripted by a mischievous referee with a flair for theatre. The Boks beat Italy, but the real drama was in the card deck — with Eddie Jones still talking about “intent” like it's a legal thriller. KLA ghosted again, Moodie's defence was more interpretive dance than tackle technique, but Dwilly was electric and Manie continued to Manie with reckless charm. Pollard? Somewhere between solid and spectral. If you're not betting on Bok 9s to score, you hate free money. And Rassie's bench moves? Chef's kiss. Across the channel, England stunned the All Blacks and now we're all asking: are they actually good? Is this real? Who's in the top five now — and does anyone agree? BBBB caught some heat, but the real fire was in the discourse. Ireland beat Australia, but only the wrong Aussies shone. Ireland looked better, but was that just because Australia are now a rugby ghost town? Scotland lost to Argentina, and surely Tooney's seat is now lava. Meanwhile, Argentina continue to “prove” they're a top team — despite having done so for five years, three World Cup semis, and wins over basically everyone. Can we retire the “on their day” trope? And yes, Japan played Wales. It's a week of hot takes, cold facts, and rugby chaos — and we're here to stir it all with a crooked referee's whistle and a wink. Music by @monstroid, 80s TV Show.
If French rugby is fine wine, the Boks uncorked it, chugged it straight from the bottle, and smashed the glass on the way out. The Springboks have once again marched into Paris like uninvited houseguests, stomping mud across the carpets, smashing the crockery, and pocketing a few heirlooms for good measure. France looked overrated, outmuscled, and utterly unable to dent the Bok defence, while the refereeing circus gave us scrums that made no sense, a red card that raised eyebrows, and yellows that felt more like lottery tickets. Rassie's substitutions were bold, Siya's leadership was immense, and Esterhuizen looked every bit the golden key to unlock this side. Sasha or Manie — who's really the man (hint, it's still Pollard)? Meanwhile, the 9s are bringing the heat, but KLA might not be it. Beyond Paris, the Northern Hemisphere chorus of “we're undercooked” rang out again, conveniently forgetting that the shoe is on the other foot every June. Italy toppled Australia, leaving us wondering if Joe Schmidt's fire has fizzled. Scotland spooked themselves against New Zealand in what quickly became the DMac show. England scraped past Fiji, though the islanders could easily have stolen it, with refereeing once again in the spotlight. Wales, poor Wales, were left licking wounds after Argentina gave them another bruising reminder of reality. And in the background, World Cup qualification permutations rumble on: Namibia struggling, Belgium proving they're more than just chips. It was a weekend of broken narratives, hot takes, and Southern Hemisphere swagger, and we're here to stir the pot with all the banter you can handle. Music by @monstroid, 80s TV Show

In today's episode, we speak with Oreste Donzella, former Chief Strategy Officer of KLA, a global leader in semiconductor process control and inspection. Oreste brings over three decades of experience in the semiconductor industry — a sector that quietly powers every technological advance we see today. You know, every strategist planning for AI's future is charting a course on assumptions about computational power, cost curves, and technological capability. But few are examining the foundation on which all of it rests: semiconductors. Without understanding where chip technology is headed—and the geopolitical forces reshaping its landscape—you're navigating without checking what lies beneath the waterline. Oreste is a veteran strategy officer with decades navigating the complex semiconductor stack, and here we explore the dynamics shaping foundational technologies—from manufacturing processes to geopolitical tensions—so you can better anticipate the forces that will enable or constrain your AI ambitions. In this episode we get into: Why AI's rise is really a story about semiconductors — and how the industry's “emotional revenge” is unfolding. The hidden complexity of the semiconductor supply chain — and how a few specialized companies shape global innovation. How geopolitics, national strategies, and power consumption are redefining the industry's future. The movement toward modular, heterogeneous chip design — and what it means for strategy leaders in every sector. Oreste's model for the three timeless pillars of great strategy execution: Collaboration, Innovation, and Execution. Oreste's perspective reminds us that strategy doesn't live in isolation — it operates often within vast, interconnected systems. And those able to think at the systems level, able to understand how they are evolving, will be the ones able to understand where value is truly pooling and therefore where to play. Earlier this year, I spoke with Dennis Woodside, CEO of Freshworks, about why speed and ROI matter more than ever in AI adoption. Today, we continue that conversation—this time from the IT frontline. In this episode, I'm joined by Ashwin Ballal, CIO of Freshworks and a 30-year tech industry veteran with a track record of driving transformation across global enterprises. From his days leading intelligence and data strategy at KLA to his role as CIO at Medallia, Ashwin knows what it takes to modernize without overcomplicating. We explore: The real impact AI is having inside IT teams and where the hype still outweighs reality Why simplifying IT environments is becoming a strategic priority for CIOs How AI is being used to augment, not replace, human capability The pressure to deliver measurable outcomes with fewer resources—and what leaders are doing about it Ashwin also shares a candid view on upskilling, internal adoption, and how CIOs can keep innovation moving forward while managing complexity and cost. This conversation is released in time for Freshworks' ‘Refresh' event and ties into broader industry trends around operational efficiency, human-centered AI, and IT's changing role in business strategy. If you're a CIO, tech leader, or just trying to cut through the noise around AI in the enterprise, this one's worth your time.

In this week's episode of Market Mondays, we dive into the global economic storm brewing as Trump's proposed tariffs spark fears of a full-blown trade war. We unpack how these moves are shaking markets—from auto stocks taking a hit in Europe to Goldman Sachs raising the likelihood of a U.S. recession. Gold is hitting all-time highs, and we break down what that says about investor sentiment. Plus, we discuss which car brands, if any, might be worth a look right now, and whether major companies could start adding Bitcoin to their balance sheets as an economic hedge. We also take a deep look into the AI boom: who's set to benefit next in the ecosystem, and which companies are quietly leveraging NVIDIA's AI stack for future dominance. We review Dennis Fish's 2024 stock picks and play a high-stakes game of portfolio building from a curated list of major players like Netflix, HubSpot, Palo Alto, and Alibaba.
