He was also in the Emmy award winning seasons of Schitt's Creek and Daniel Tiger. He can be currently be seen in the Netflix film Donkeyhead, the Disney+ animated series Mira, Royal Detective and on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on Paramount+, and on Bell Media's lighthearted drama “The Spencer Sisters”.  As a writer his short film “The Time Traveller” that he developed with director RT, won best short film at the Canadian Film Fest and a received a best foreign film nomination at the San Francisco Black Film Festival. And Husein's pilots “Desi Family” and “Huse Right” both placed at the Launchpad Screenwriting Competition in the US. Prior to his acting career, Husein was a TV presenter where he hosted a daily national entertainment show in Canada, interviewing some of the most famous and celebrated faces in the world.

Husein Alireza is the Captain of the Saudi rowing team and was the Saudi flag bearer at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He discovered his exceptional rowing capabilities at college in the UK, leading him to dedicate three years of his life to intense Olympic training with his coach, Bill Barry. In the midst of training, Husein's mother was tragically diagnosed and passed away from blood cancer, shifting his perspective on happiness and reason to keep training. Frustratingly, he suffered a lung injury, had surgery, and contracted COVID. Against all odds, he made it to Tokyo for the race and was selected to carry the Saudi flag at the opening ceremony. Husein talks about the importance of family, what it took to become an Olympian, the importance of family and his keen interest in astronomy.

This is Husein's second appearance on the podcast. In this episode Husein calls in from hot and sunny Dubai where rumour has it that it is cold at night. Husien stars inthe new film, Donkeyhead. Donkeyhead is a 2021 Canadian comedy-drama film written and directed by Agam Darshi in her directorial debut. It stars Darshi as Mona, a woman tasked with taking care of her father with the help of her three siblings after he is diagnosed with cancer and his health starts to deteriorate.

Enter Mehmed Spaho who attempts to create a single national identity through his Muslim Yugoslav Organization, leaving the project to Džafer-beg Kulenović after his death who will eventually become vice president of the fascist Independent State of Croatia. Boris discusses the on-again, off-again relationship between Ustashas and Muslim collaborationists leading both to the formation of the SS Handschar Division and, believe it or not, Muslim Chetniks. Rahim is the CEO and Co-Founder of SV Academy, an online, employer-driven school that helps underrepresented jobseekers break into non-coding careers in the tech industry. SV Academy was named the #2 Most Innovative Education Program by Fast Company. Prior to SV Academy, Rahim was the CEO and Co-Founder of Involver, an enterprise social media platform, which was acquired by Oracle and is now part of the Oracle Marketing Cloud. Post sale, he was a key account executive supporting the global field and inside sales organizations. Previously, he founded a web hosting company with his friend Husein while still in high school. Its sale (for $1.5m!) was negotiated while writing his senior year exams. Because of life circumstances, Rahim didn't end up going to a four-year college, or receiving his bachelors. A few years back, Rahim received an Empact 100 Award at the White House from Startup America and The Kauffman Foundation. Rahim was also named one of the Top 30 Entrepreneurs Under 30 in America by Inc. Magazine, one of the Top 40 Under 40 by the San Francisco Business Times, and one of the Top 25 Digital Thought-Leaders by iMedia. Rahim loves helping and learning from people who are charting their own course. He's an investor or advisor to a number of start-ups, early-stage venture funds, and non-profit organizations. He's also been invited to speak at several cool places around the world like SXSW, President Obama's Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Dubai, MIT's $100K Business Plan Competition, Imperial Bank in Kenya and Startup Weekend in Egypt. I kick off the conversation with Rahim by asking him which city has the best economic opportunity. I was intrigued by his response. We discussed how sales and business have changed in the new remote working environment. Rahim shares his advice for other tech founders embarking on a startup. We talk about his founder's story which began in high school. The mission of his new company SV Academy is to train underrepresented people in remote areas to be able to participate in business.
