Fah Mai Holdings Group Inc UK head Jacob Carter talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the state of the whisky industry in 2024 and expectations for 2025. Carter highlighted both the challenges and opportunities the sector has faced. He noted significant declines in Scotch whisky exports, with volumes falling by 10.20% during the first half of 2024 due to global economic pressures, inflation, and tariffs. Auction values also saw steep declines, with a 50% drop in fine and rare whisky prices year-over-year in Q2. Additionally, the luxury segment has been under pressure, especially for high-end bottles aged over 50 years. Despite these challenges, Carter pointed out areas of growth, such as increased demand in emerging markets like India (up 17.30%) and Japan (up 13%). Resilient brands like Glenfarclas and Port Ellen have shown modest gains, and iconic labels like Macallan continue to hold their position despite market volatility. Looking ahead to 2025, Carter predicts sustained demand for rare whiskys, further diversification across whisky brands globally, and the rise of digital platforms leveraging blockchain and NFTs for authentication. To new investors in 2025, Carter advised starting with research and understanding market trends, setting clear budgets, diversifying portfolios, and consulting industry experts. Fah Mai Holdings Group Inc UK head and manager of @whiskybullauctions Jacob Carter speaks to Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the rising demand for whisky casks as an investment. According to Carter, whisky casks have shown strong historical returns, with rare casks from distilleries like Macallan and Glenfiddich, appreciating by up to 30% per year. He highlighted how the whisky market is being driven by scarcity, the aging process, and increasing global demand, especially from emerging markets like Asia and North America. Carter said estimates put 2023 sales at 12,000 and 15,000 casks, generating revenue between £200 and £250 million. He also pointed out the tax advantages in the UK, where whisky casks are exempt from capital gains tax, making them a more attractive investment. Moreover, Carter emphasised the resilience of whisky investments during economic downturns, noting how they outperformed many traditional assets during the COVID-19 pandemic. For investors seeking portfolio diversification, whisky casks present a tangible asset with a growing international appeal. Carter expects the upward trajectory to continue through 2025, driven by innovations like blockchain and digital trading platforms, which will enhance market transparency. Fah Mai Holdings Group Inc UK head Jacob Carter talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the current state of the Asian whisky market and emerging trends for 2023 and 2024. According to Carter, while whisky volumes have increased by 10%, the overall value of rare bottles, especially those priced over £1000, has seen a decline. He shared insights into how ultra-high-end bottles still achieve record-breaking prices, but the market dynamics are shifting toward lower-priced bottles, where volume is growing by 18%. Carter also touched on the rise of premiumisation in the market, where buyers are willing to pay more for single malts and aged whiskies from brands like Macallan, Glenfiddich, and Springbank. He highlighted Hong Kong's role as a major whisky hub, benefiting from a tax-free environment for luxury goods. Jacob noted that despite macroeconomic pressures, the demand for premium and collectible whiskies remains strong. “The whisky bottle market in Asia, particularly in Hong Kong, China, and Japan, does remain strong, with continued growth in sales volumes driven by its demand for premium and collectable bottles,” Carter stated, while cautioning about counterfeiting concerns and the impact of economic pressures on luxury goods. Fah Mai Holdings Group Inc (OTC:FMHG) UK head and manager of @whiskybullauctions Jacob Carter speaks to Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the benefits and strategies of investing in casks. Carter explained that investing in casks is a promising opportunity due to the strong correlation between age and value. He highlighted that the market for rare and collectable casks is growing, making it an attractive alternative to traditional assets like real estate or stocks. Cask investments offer more liquidity compared to bottles and can provide returns within 3 to 5 years, especially when stored longer to increase value. Carter also mentioned that cask investments are free of capital gains tax, classifying them as wasting assets with a predictable life of 50 years or less. He described the different types of casks available, including barrels, Hogsheads, Butts, and specialty casks like Madeira drums and Port pipes, each offering unique profiles and market preferences. Regarding investment strategies, Carter emphasised the importance of considering the desired length of investment and conducting market research to make informed decisions. He also outlined various exit strategies, such as selling to private investors, wholesalers, distilleries, or through auctions. Additionally, bottling the cask is an option, although it involves duty and VAT calculations. Carter advised investors to consider macroeconomic conditions, such as trade tariffs, which could impact whisky investment returns. He also reminded investors to factor in storage and insurance costs when planning their investments. #WhiskyInvestment #CaskInvestment #JacobCarter #FahMaiHoldings #WhiskyMarket #InvestingInWhisky #WhiskyCasks #ProactiveInvestors #AlternativeInvestments #WhiskyCollector #InvestmentTips #FinancialAdvice #WhiskyAuctions #RareWhisky #WhiskyTaxBenefits #ProactiveInvestors #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Fah Mai Holdings Group Inc UK head and manager of @whiskybullauctions, Jacob Carter talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the current state of the whisky market and auction trends in 2023. Carter highlighted that the whisky market is currently a strong buyer's market, with sellers showing no urgency to sell their collections due to a soft decline in bottle prices at auctions. He mentioned a 5% drop in bottles sold by the end of 2023 and a 19% decrease in hammer prices. Moreover, between 2021 and the end of 2023, there was a 102% increase in bottles failing to reach reserve prices. Despite this, the whiskey industry has seen a significant growth of 322% over the past ten years according to the Knight Frank Luxury Investment Index. Carter provided specific examples, such as Aberlour, which saw a 21% increase in trading volume and a 13% increase in value. On the other hand, brands like Ardbeg experienced a 20% decline in trading volume and a 23% decrease in value. Carter emphasised the importance of secondary market prices in determining future bottle values. The interview also touched on the advantages of buying at auctions, noting that a large portion of the market consists of bottles priced at £100 or less, making it accessible to a wide range of collectors. Carter concluded by stressing the impact of supply and demand on auction prices and the importance of auction data for the secondary market. #WhiskeyMarket #AuctionTrends #FahMaiHoldings #JacobCarter #WhiskeyInvestment #SecondaryMarket #WhiskeyCollecting #WhiskeyAuction #MarketInsights #ProactiveInvestors #ProactiveInvestors #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Fah Mai Holdings Group Inc (OTC:FMHG) UK head and manager of @whiskybullauctions Jacob Carter provides detailed advice for investors in the secondary whisky bottle market in an interview with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion. Carter emphasised the importance of conducting thorough research and developing a personal investment strategy, highlighting rarity and age as key factors in choosing investment bottles. He mentioned significant past investment successes, such as a 1964 Black Bowmore Aston Martin DB5 bottle bought for less than £100 and now valued at about £50,000. Carter advised using resources like Rare Whisky 101 to access data on highly traded bottles and stressed the necessity of understanding market dynamics, which can be influenced by distillery release schedules and other seasonal factors. He also discussed the critical aspects of storage and insurance for investment bottles, suggesting that collectors work with auction houses that provide these services. Fah Mai Holdings Group Inc UK head and manager of @whiskybullauctions Jacob Carter discusses the benefits of whisky as a stable and tangible asset in a volatile stock market environment. In an interview with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion, Carter highlighted that whisky appreciates in value due to its age, scarcity, and availability, offering an independent performance from economic conditions. He differentiated between bottles and casks, noting bottles provide more flexibility while casks require longer investment periods without annual returns but with potential for substantial appreciation. Carter also addressed the role of whisky in hedging against inflation, especially through supply constraints in the bottle market. He described bottles as more adaptable and easier to sell, providing liquidity to investors. In contrast, casks represent a longer-term investment but are less correlated to volatile stock movements. He further explained Fah Mai Holdings' investment opportunities, including direct cask purchases, fractional cask investments through Platinum Cask, and Whisky Bull Auctions for trading bottles. Carter stressed the importance of transparency, honesty, and investor education in their operations, especially as the company prepares for an IPO and undergoes independent auditing for international markets. #FahMaiHoldings #WhiskyInvestment #JacobCarter #WhiskyBullAuctions #WhiskyAsAsset #InvestInWhisky #WhiskyMarket #CaskInvestment #WhiskyAuctions #IPOPreparation #ProactiveInvestors #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Fah Mai Holdings Group Inc (OTC:FMHG) UK head and manager of @whiskybullauctions Jacob Carter discussed trends in the whisky auction market with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion. Carter noted that over the first three months of 2024, there has been a stabilisation in Scotch whisky prices, while Japanese whisky continues to experience a decline from its peak in April 2022. The bottle market is anticipated to improve and return to its former prominence by September 2024, offering bottle traders more market flexibility compared to cask trading, which requires a longer investment period. Carter said a recent market pullback has created opportunities to purchase rare bottles at lower prices, potentially leading to profits as the market recovers. In line with Fah Mai Holdings' approach, he highlighted @whiskybullauctions' policy of transparency and honesty in market dealings to prevent investors and collectors from overpaying or getting stuck with unsellable items. Reflecting on the past 12 months, Carter noted significant fluctuations in auction prices for rare whiskies, with some notable declines in value but an overall slow recovery in prices. My absolute favorite conversations are speaking with founders and executives with (almost) no agenda.Jacob Carter is the CEO and Founder of Nurture Boss - an exciting company that's adding a ton of value to the leasing process in our industry. He's got his finger on the pulse of the industry - not just MarTech but all things technology, marketing, and operations. We talked about what was on his mind and it was an absolute blast to riff with someone as smart and talented as Jacob.I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did!Jacob on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jacobscarter/Nurture Boss: https://nurtureboss.io/

How can we take this information and implement it into the renter customer journey? “What we should be doing, as we're nurturing these prospects, is understanding how the questions they're asking us are actually painting us a roadmap for success on how to sell them on the property … how to turn them into a customer and into a resident.” Connect with Jacobwww.linkedin.com/in/jacobscarter nutureboss.io

More than half a century has passed since that fateful moment, yet so many questions remain unanswered. Lone gunman? Conspiracy? And then there is that one big question: Does it still matter? Let's say you are a talented movie director, and you announced you are making a movie about how the Holocaust wasn't real, or the Civil Rights movement never happened. There would be demonstrators in front of your studio protesting your movie because it is an abomination of history. When Oliver Stone made JFK, there weren't any such protests. There were some columnists who wrote that they thought it was bad history, but there was no public outcry. That's because the Kennedy assassination has passed from history into entertainment. It's like a board game, ‘Who killed Kennedy?' That's unfortunate. The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) and Biologist Dr. Jacob Carter recently published detailed recommendations to protect federal employees who work with scientific data to drive decision-making, to ensure that partisan politics or a culture of fear over losing jobs doesn't hinder them from independently serving the public interest in protecting the health of humans and the environment. The path to shore up scientific integrity in U.S. Federal Government Agencies is outlined in the UCS 2020 report: "Roadmap to Science in Decision-Making" and is discussed in this 25 minute podcast by UCS biologist Dr. Jacob Carter with host Carrie Freeman for Radio Free Georgia's "In Tune to Nature" radio show, to air October 14, 2020.If you support scientific integrity measures and the use of science in decision-making (like with climate change and pollutants and public lands), contact your Congressional legislators and mention this UCS report and the "Scientific Integrity Act." Environmental scientists at our federal agencies (like the EPA and the Dept of Energy or Dept of the Interior) need to be able to do their jobs without political interference from whomever holds power in the White House. America has a conflicted relationship to science. Historically, presidents and Congress have questioned and derided scientific research that is at odds with their beliefs, political and economic interests. At the same time, public confidence in science is growing and evidence of the impacts of climate change on rising sea levels, displacement and migration in coastal communities is now widely accepted. As Jacob Carter, biologist and research scientist from the Union of Concerned Scientists’ Center for Science and Democracy explains, the pushback on science has serious implications for decision-making on issues including climate, energy, transportation and food. If scientific evidence is rejected, how can sound policies be enacted? Jacob points out the unprecedented suppression of science by the Trump Administration, including research and reports issued by federal agencies ranging from the US Environmental Protection Agency to the US Fish and Wildlife Services. Scientists within the federal system are being defunded, censored and prohibited from attending meetings on their areas of study. This aggressive stance has left our federal scientists with a serious morale problem and is dissuading early career scientists from entering the public service pipeline. In fact, the President’s defiling of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration maps, known as SharpieGate, is just one of 120 documented attacks on science by this Administration. The Center for Science and Democracy’s unyielding support for federal scientists extends to the communities most impacted by deregulation and other anti-science actions. As Jacob says, grassroots communities know based what is happening to them and what they need. Their contributions to the Center’s policy recommendations are invaluable. Jacob is heartened by the outpouring of scientists and supporters who showed up for the March on Science around the globe and the fact that public trust in science is at an all-time high.
