Professor Jon Jureidini is a child psychiatrist who leads the Critical and Ethical Mental Health research group at Adelaide University in Australia. His forensic deconstruction of industry-sponsored clinical trials has exposed how pharmaceutical companies manipulate data, employ ghostwriters, and cultivate academic figureheads to create an illusion of scientific consensus around their products. Prof. Jureidini has revealed how medications prescribed to our most vulnerable populations—children and adolescents—gained approval based on studies that were fundamentally misrepresented in the scientific literature. In his groundbreaking book, 'The Illusion of Evidence-Based Medicine: Exposing the crisis of credibility in clinical research,' co-authored with Leemon McHenry, he systematically demonstrates how commercial interests have hijacked the evidence base that clinicians rely on, compromising patient care in the process. His work raises profound questions about the integrity of published research and challenges us to reconsider the foundations of modern medicine. Jureidini reveals shocking findings about the landmark 'Treatment of Adolescent Depression Study (TADS) study that's been used to justify prescribing antidepressants to teenagers—despite evidence showing a five-fold increase in suicidal events. With nearly 20% of adolescent girls now taking SSRIs, this conversation exposes the profit-driven deception that puts millions of developing brains at risk while pharmaceutical companies continue to thrive on what Jureidini calls "the illusion of evidence-based medicineChapters00:00 Introduction to the Crisis in Psychiatry02:20 The Illusion of Evidence-Based Medicine04:34 The TADS Study: A Closer Look10:47 Evaluating the TADS Study's Findings14:22 The Ethics of Informed Consent26:28 Risks and Alternatives in Treatment32:59 The Controversy of Antidepressant Prescriptions35:46 Ethical Concerns in Pharmaceutical Practices40:29 The Impact of Clinical Trials on Drug Approval47:08 Challenges in Psychiatric Research and Publication50:29 Restoring Trust in Scientific Integrity58:20 A Shift Towards Social Determinants of Mental Health RADICALLY GENUINE PODCASTDr. Roger McFillin / Radically Genuine WebsiteYouTube @RadicallyGenuineDr. Roger McFillin (@DrMcFillin) / XSubstack | Radically Genuine | Dr. Roger McFillinInstagram @radicallygenuineContact Radically GenuineConscious Clinician CollectivePLEASE SUPPORT OUR PARTNERS15% Off Pure Spectrum CBD (Code: RadicallyGenuine)10% off Lovetuner click here—-----------FREE DOWNLOAD! How is Trump's executive order redefining the language permissible in scientific research, and what does it mean for academic freedom? Today, we examine the complexities surrounding scientific research under shifting political landscapes with Ivan Oransky, a seasoned medical journalist and co-founder of Retraction Watch. Oransky discusses the implications of President Trump's executive orders and how it has sent ripples throughout the scientific community, causing researchers to reconsider their work amidst existential uncertainties. Oransky explores the nuanced relationship between government funding and scientific inquiry. This episode unpacks the historical precedents of government involvement in research, tracing back to the 1940s, and examines the mounting challenges faced by scientists under the recent policy changes. Oransky provides a critical analysis of how such directives potentially stifle open inquiry and drive talented researchers away, ultimately impacting the future landscape of scientific discovery. Dr. Hoffman continues his conversation with investigative journalist Charles Piller, author of “Doctored: Fraud, Arrogance, and Tragedy in the Quest to Cure Alzheimer's Disease.”
Investigative journalist Charles Piller reveals deep-seated corruption in Alzheimer's research as chronicled in his book, “Doctored: Fraud, Arrogance, and Tragedy in the Quest to Cure Alzheimer's Disease.” The discussion delves into the issues surrounding Big Pharma's influence, fraudulent scientific studies, and the implications of a controversial 2006 experiment at the University of Minnesota. They also address the costly and marginally effective Alzheimer's drugs like Aducanumab, the challenges faced by alternative research hypotheses, and the significance of improving scientific integrity and checks and balances in medical research.
Dr. Jonathan Howard and Wendy Orent explore the shocking contradictions of those who once claimed to defend scientific dialogue but now cheerlead for mass censorship. They dissect the hypocrisy of figures like Vinay Prasad, Jay Bhattacharya, and Marty Makary—who spent years railing against censorship but remain silent as the new administration muzzles scientists, cancels NIH study sections, and defunds critical research. They also examine Prasad's crude, vengeful rhetoric and the complicity of his defenders, who tone-police critics while tolerating his unprofessionalism. Mitch and Tom tackle scientific integrity this week! What does this even mean and how often do scientists follow this code of conduct? What is the price if scientists do not adhere to the law of the land? Mitch takes us through the core tenets of scientific integrity while Tom provides some precise examples of how bias can be introduced into animal behaviour research. The boys end the show talking about some extreme cases of unethical experiments. Music: EVA - 失望した

In a world where technology is constantly evolving and AI is everywhere, it's all too easy for content to be deceitful, including scientific papers. Capturing source metadata, incentivizing reproducibility, and protecting whistleblowers are steps we can take to ensure science remains honest. In this episode, Satyen interviews Dr. Elisabeth Bik. Elisabeth is an experienced microbiologist whose groundbreaking work in scientific integrity has led to more than four thousand potential cases of improper research conduct. She also founded the blogs Microbiome Digest and Science Integrity Digest, and was awarded the John Maddox Prize for "outstanding work exposing widespread threats to research integrity in scientific papers" in 2021. Satyen and Elisabeth discuss image manipulation in scientific papers, the impact of AI on scientific integrity, and why paper mills must be stopped.--------“There's people looking at statistical problems or DNA sequences that don't make any sense, and appear to have been made up, or plagiarism. [...] We have a community of people doing this, data detectives or image detectives. And I think what we have in common is a desire to make science better and to flag these papers so that other people can see that there's a potential problem with that paper.” – Dr. Elisabeth Bik--------Time Stamps:*(01:34): Image manipulation in the context of scientific papers*(17:41): Elisabeth explains scientific paper mills*(22:52): Why biomedical research needs to slow down*(34:20): How Elisabeth manages backlash from scientists*(46:45): How prevalent fraud is in science today*(50:32): Satyen's Takeaways--------SponsorThis podcast is presented by Alation.Learn more:* Subscribe to the newsletter: https://www.alation.com/podcast/* Alation's LinkedIn Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/company/alation/* Satyen's LinkedIn Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ssangani/--------LinksFollow Elisabeth on LinkedInFollow Elisabeth on TwitterVisit Microbiome DigestVisit Science Integrity Digest
COVID saw an influx of irrational and baseless lockdown restrictions and public health regulations, the devastating effects of which will be felt for decades to come. The unprecedented nature of these measures also signified a radical departure from health guidelines established prior to COVID's arrival. The trap, however, is to believe that COVID occurred in a vacuum. In Dr Aseem Malhotra's presentation at the BizNews Conference in March, the world-renowned consultant cardiologist chronicled the decay of the value and reliability of public health institutions and modern medicine. Malhotra's meticulous delivery astutely contextualised COVID as the by-product of a complete healthcare system failure, institutional corruption and gross overreach by the pharmaceutical industry, and abandonment of evidence-based medicine. Scientific integrity is a crucial component of scholarly publishing for any credible journal. Peer-reviewed, open-access journal Aging (listed as “Aging (Albany NY)” by Medline/PubMed and “Aging-US” by Web of Science) has recently presented its Scientific Integrity process. Launched in 2009, Aging is an open-access biomedical journal dedicated to publishing high-quality, aging-focused research. Aging publishes papers of general interest and biological significance in all fields of aging research and age-related diseases, including cancer—and now, with a special focus on COVID-19 vulnerability as an age-dependent syndrome. Aging has a scientific integrity process to ensure that publications meet a number of scrupulous criteria for authenticity and integrity. Each published paper is thoroughly analyzed by diligent reviewers and services, including multiple in-house developed image forensics softwares. A growing industry of digital technologies, tools and ideas are constantly being added to Aging's scientific integrity toolbox. Aging's Scientific Integrity process is built upon six critical components: 1-Easily Accessible Ethics Statements 2-Devotion to Industry Standards for Scientific Publishing 3-Rigorous and Insightful Peer Review 4-Detection and Zero-Tolerance of Plagiarism 5-Leading-Edge Image Forensics 6-Post-Publication Investigations (if needed) The new webpage also depicts publishing statistics in a detailed graph —showcasing a visual representation of the number of post-publication corrections and retractions by Aging compared to the industry average, between 2010 and 2022. As of September 2022, Aging's average rate of corrections/retractions since 2009 is a low 2.33%. The industry average correction/retraction rate is 3.80%. Aging's highly-effective scientific integrity process allows researchers to read, share and cite Aging papers with confidence. Richard (Rick) W. Spinrad, Ph.D., was sworn in on June 22, 2021 as the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and the 11th NOAA Administrator. Dr. Spinrad is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of the agency and its over 12,000 employees, including developing NOAA's portfolio of products and services to address the climate crisis, enhancing environmental sustainability and fostering economic development, and creating a more just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive NOAA workforce. Most recently, Dr. Spinrad served as a Professor of Oceanography and Senior Adviser to the Vice President of Research at Oregon State University (OSU). He was also Vice President for Research at OSU from 2010-2014. Dr. Spinrad served as NOAA's Chief Scientist under President Barack Obama from 2014 until 2016. He also led NOAA's Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research and National Ocean Service from 2003-2010. While at NOAA, Dr. Spinrad co-led the White House Committee that developed the nation's first set of ocean research priorities and oversaw the revamping of NOAA's research enterprise, including the development of the agency's Scientific Integrity policy. Prior to initially joining NOAA, Dr. Spinrad held leadership positions at the U.S. Office of Naval Research and Oceanographer of the Navy, where he was awarded the Distinguished Civilian Service Award — the highest award given by the U.S. Navy to a civilian. He has held faculty appointments at OSU, the U.S. Naval Academy, and George Mason University; served as Executive Director at the Consortium for Oceanographic Research and Education; was President of Sea Tech, Inc.; and worked as a research scientist at OSU and the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences. He also developed the National Ocean Sciences Bowl for high school students. Dr. Spinrad received his B.A. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Oceanography from Oregon State University. Highlights from the Show NOAA has been around in various forms since 1802, when President Thomas Jefferson setup a survey of the coast to understand the risks to shipping, coastal communities and more, and it was President Nixon who established NOAA by brining together the various environmental intelligence organizations In the late 20th and early 21st century, NOAA added advanced capabilities and tools like satellites Today, NOAA is an almost $7B agency with over 12,000 people (which only costs about $0.06 a day per taxpayer) Lives, Livelihoods and Lifestyles are all impacted by weather and ability to forecast what will happen with it to know what its impact will be and how we can respond In inflation adjusted numbers, in the 1980s, there were 82 days between $1B disasters or worse; today, it's 18 days There were 21 billion-plus-dollar disasters, and we're at 9 now (early August) Hurricane Ida last year brought $30-40B in losses, and this isn't an anomaly anymore They rolled out the heat.gov website that could help insurers and reinsurers in looking at the forecasted impacts of heat on health and other factors around the country The hazards aren't new – floods, draughts, hurricanes, etc – but we're putting so much more energy into the system, which is resulting in unprecedented scale of these hazards In the last 30-40 years, we've been adding the equivalent of 2 Hiroshima atomic bombs worth of energy into the oceans every second They're now understanding the teleconnections, meaning the impact of weather activity in one part of the world's impact on the activity in another, like weather events in Australia and how that ties to weather events in New England One of the ways insurance companies can engage with NOAA on this is to think about what kind of forecasting and predictions are most helpful, like the timeframe we'd need to see data for There's a lot of value in talking about the future of insurance and prediction, and Insurance is a sophisticated participant in that conversation Government has responsibilities to say where people can't build (for example) From there, it's up to the market to decide the cost of risk where we can build, which means insurers understanding and pricing that risk The impact of Climate Change is a foregone conclusion at this point, and the science has gotten so good that it can tell you exactly what impact you'll see by when (like 10-12 inches of sea level rise in Norfolk, VA by 2050) Rather than giving up, we need to think about what we can do to adapt and protect given that fact, while we have time to mitigate Dr. Spinrad did this himself with a prior home he had in Oregan that didn't have a fire exposure initially, but did over time, so he cut back brush and trees to reduce the risk Part of NOAA's responsibility is around communication, and being the authority to turn to so people know who to trust for clear, actionable information, like going to the top doctor for a second opinion Get involved and collaborate with NOAA at climate.gov This episode is brought to you by Ecopia (ecopia.ai) and The Future of Insurance thought leadership series (future-of-insurance.com) from Bryan Falchuk. Peter Ridd is a geophysicist with over 100 publications and 35 years' experience working on the Great Barrier Reef and developed a wide range of world-first optical and electronic instruments for measuring environmental conditions near corals and other ecosystems. He was head of Physics at James Cook University for over a decade before being fired, in 2018, for questioning the quality assurance systems used by reef science institutions. Some of the poor-quality work relates to the effect, or lack of effect, of climate change, and agriculture, on the reef. Ridd now works, unpaid, with agricultural organisations, and the Institute of Public Affairs to improve quality assurance systems of “science” used by Australian governments to make environmental laws and regulations. In the era of “fake news”, false and misleading information has become a disease, spreading rapidly through internet channels and leading to a decrease in the public's trust in science. So what are scientists doing about it? In this episode, we speak with Dr. Manil Maskey to learn how stewardship of datasets and training models plays a key role in ensuring scientific integrity in the field of remote sensing. Using AI datasets and training models as an example, we look at who is responsible for stewardship, how data is quality-controlled, and how stewardship impacts scientific integrity, particularly as technology evolves over time.
COVID Policies: Exposing Breaches in Scientific Integrity. We are joined by Dr. Marilyn Singleton (MD, JD, Board Certified Anesthesiologist). Topics discussed include: Rejecting Ethics - Embracing Hubris. Redefining “Vaccine” - Suppressing Early Treatment. Conflating Cases - Distorting Data. Rejecting Reality - Disabling the Children.
Raymond C. Niles talks about how government funding harms scientific integrity. Many scientists were afraid to speak out about the Wuhan Lab leak and against the lockdowns, because of fear of losing grants. Wuhan and lockdowns were politicized from the start.
We must separate government completely from science for the same reason we separate church from state and press from state. Don't force our scientists to become supplicants to government bureaucrats in order to pursue truth. That will be the death of reason, science, and truth, and lead to disasters, such as misunderstanding the origins of deadly viruses.

Scientific integrity is a crucial component of scholarly publishing. In order to consistently publish high-quality science, it is integral to have strong ethical standards for scientific and academic integrity. At Impact Journals, a growing industry of digital technologies, tools, and ideas are constantly being added to our robust scientific integrity process. Impact Journals (based out of Buffalo, New York) is an international open-access publisher of journals in the field of biomedical sciences. The Impact Journals process to maintain scientific integrity in scientific publishing is built around several components: 1.) Publicly available ethics statements; 2.) Adherence to industry standards for scientific publishing; 3.) Diligent and insightful peer-review; 4.) Elimination of plagiarism; 5.) Image forensics service; and finally, 6.) If a problem arises post-publication, we conduct investigations following COPE guidelines in cooperation with the authors and their affiliated institution. In addition to our diligent peer-review process, Impact Journals uses advanced image forensics service to check applicable images in all submitted papers. This service includes multiple in-house and third party tools for image screening as well as to compare newly submitted images against images found on the Internet and those that have already been published in one of our journals. In this episode of the Science & Chill podcast, I speak with Dr. Elisabeth Bik. Dr. Bik is a microbiome scientist and science integrity advocate. She received her PhD from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Her scientific work has included time at the Dutch National Institute for Health and the Stanford University School of Medicine. She is the creator of Microbiome Digest, a blog where she posts almost daily papers published in the area of the microbiome. She has also held roles as a science editor and scientific and editorial director at uBiome, and director of science at Astarte medical. Currently, Dr. Bik is devoting her work to being a full-time Microbiome and Science Integrity consultant. Her work has been featured in major news publications including Nature, the New York Times, the Washington post, Le Monde, The Scientist, and more. She often shares her detective work on social media with the hashtag #ImageForensics, and she has nearly 85,000 Twitter followers. In this episode, we talk about the microbiome -- what what the microbiome is, the functions of the microbiome in human physiology, how the microbiome might be responsible for obesity and other modern-day diseases, and how diet, lifestyle, and our environment influence the microbiome. The majority of our conversation surrounds her main role as a "science integrity consultant." Dr. Bik regards herself as a "scientific sleuth" in the area of image duplication, where she uses her own two eyes to spot potentially fraudulent or duplicated imaged within scientific papers. Her investigations have led to published papers and the reporting of her findings to major scientific journals, resulting in the correction and/or retraction of several papers. The work Dr. Bik does is important and I believe, somewhat underappreciated. What she's doing really is impactful and integral to upholding the integrity of science and keeping the "checks and balances" of scientific publishing in tact. I hope you enjoy this episode! The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) and Biologist Dr. Jacob Carter recently published detailed recommendations to protect federal employees who work with scientific data to drive decision-making, to ensure that partisan politics or a culture of fear over losing jobs doesn't hinder them from independently serving the public interest in protecting the health of humans and the environment. The path to shore up scientific integrity in U.S. Federal Government Agencies is outlined in the UCS 2020 report: "Roadmap to Science in Decision-Making" and is discussed in this 25 minute podcast by UCS biologist Dr. Jacob Carter with host Carrie Freeman for Radio Free Georgia's "In Tune to Nature" radio show, to air October 14, 2020.If you support scientific integrity measures and the use of science in decision-making (like with climate change and pollutants and public lands), contact your Congressional legislators and mention this UCS report and the "Scientific Integrity Act." Environmental scientists at our federal agencies (like the EPA and the Dept of Energy or Dept of the Interior) need to be able to do their jobs without political interference from whomever holds power in the White House. See here examples of many attacks on science, mainly during trump's reign. In Tune to Nature is long-running eco and animal-protection show (hosted by Carrie Freeman and Sonia Swartz) that aims to increase your environmental literacy and give you info you need to know to be a responsible environmental citizen. This week on The Conduct Science Podcast, Mitch and Tom explore scientific integrity! What does that even mean you ask? Listen to find out! The boys explore what scientific integrity is and why it is important to both the scientific and civilian world. The ethics of the world is being pulled more and more into public view and this is no different with science, how do they decide which research is acceptable if animals are being used? Lastly, they talk about paying to access scientific articles and whether this is acceptable. Music by: Joakim Karud - https://soundcloud.com/joakimkarud.

Dr. Chris Shaw shares what he has discovered about the un-natural immune response aluminum vaccines create, how this toxic metal finds its way to the brain, and how it contributes to autoimmune disease. Despite the positive response he gets from some colleagues, he reveals how the general scientific community continues to coverup the truth about aluminum toxicity, and how forcing a “retraction” is the latest weapon the pharmaceutical industry is using against those who speak out. bit.ly/vaxconv --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thevaccineconversation/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thevaccineconversation/support
What happens when a scientist uncovers an inconvenient but alarming truth? Today we get to know a university professor and neurobiologist who was among the first to discover that aluminum in vaccines causes serious brain injury. Dr. Shaw shares how injected vaccine aluminum is not easily detoxified and how it makes its way to the brain with serious consequences. It’s mad science. Like Dr. Jekell and Mr. Hyde, morally depraved doctors are abusing small children in the name of “gender identity” and their attempt to outsmart God. The doctors, parents and children are like pawns in a chess game and they are ALL being used by the Communists who set out to destroy America from within. The American Communist Progressives have exceeded Russian Communists greatest expectations – American doctors and parents are STERILIZING CHILDREN. God forgive us. Listen to Dr. Michelle Cretella, Executive Director of the American College of Pediatricians, explain how the definition of “sex” has been deconstructed; how this harms children; the stealthy way the LGBT movement appeals to our compassion by quoting suicide numbers; and what this pseudo-science is doing to women and children, parental rights and the future of our country. It’s time to wake up, Americans. We’re talking CHILD ABUSE. Too many people have been duped by the Progressives/Communists, so that they won’t even protect small children – they just throw them to the wolves in this post-modern society. Dr. Michelle Cretella is the Executive Director of the American College of Pediatricians and pediatrician. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Alliance for Therapeutic Choice and Scientific Integrity, and chairs the Gender Identity and Sexuality Subcommittee of the Catholic Medical Association. She is also a peer reviewer for the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, and for the journal Issues in Law and Medicine. In these capacities she has become one of the most outspoken and often cited critics of the fraud of transgender pediatrics. Scientific Integrity and WA State HB 1638
Things have gone so far off the rails that young children are now given the right to choose whether they want to be boys or girls, regardless of their biological make up. What would have been considered child abuse and or mental illness by mental health professionals just a few years ago is now being accepted to the point that young kids are being physically modified—dare I say, mutilated—to fit what the remnant of rational mental health professionals are still calling delusional. The issues surrounding transgender kids and the parents who love them require sound and sober discussion. Dr. Michelle Cretella is President of the American College of Pediatricians and a general pediatrician with a special interest in behavioral pediatrics. Prior to being elected President in 2015, Dr. Cretella chaired the Adolescent Sexuality Committee, Pediatric Psychosocial Development Committee, and Scientific Policy Committee. In these roles she became one of the college's chief researchers, writers, and spokespersons on issues of pediatric mental and sexual health. Dr. Cretella serves on the Medical Committee of the Alliance for Therapeutic Choice and Scientific Integrity, a national organization of health professionals who advocate for psychotherapy for ego-dystonic homosexuality and gender dysphoria. Dr. Cretella also served on the Board of Directors of the National Association for Research and Therapy for Homosexuality (NARTH) from 2010-2015. Dr. Cretella received her medical degree in 1994 from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics in 1997 at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut, and she completed a fellowship in College Health through the University of Virginia in 1999. After 15 years of group practice in rural Connecticut and Rhode Island, Dr. Cretella left clinical practice to devote more time to family and the college. She is regularly consulted by Breitbart News, FRC, One News Now, Relevant Radio, and many others. Her article, Gender Dysphoria in Children and Suppression of Debate was published in the 2016 summer issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Cretella and her husband have three teenage sons and a 12-year-old daughter. How Postmodernism has Influenced Cultural Beliefs about Sex and Gender Issues I don't think you have to be a Bible-believing Christian to discern through the illogical, delusional, and incredibly nonsensical idea that an otherwise normal little boy should be able to choose to be a girl if he wants to, or vice versa. It is a bizarre enough choice when one is an independent adult with fully developed brain matter and responsible for one's own actions. But if you ask me, in and of itself, it is an act of insanity to give a little kid the power to choose something of this magnitude with the kind of long-term consequences that are attached to it. Today, this is an issue that almost no one is willing to risk their reputations, careers, social status, or even legal standing to argue against. While we Christians were asleep at the wheel, the LGBT movement has, with all the brains of the devil, gotten the cultural momentum on their side. This is because the people holding the microphones, who have the largest platforms—I am mainly talking about the mainstream media, entertainment industry, arts, public education, higher education, and the current mental health industry—are all shaping the worldview and the moral values of the rest of the lemming-like masses here in America today. Most of them will not address the obvious because of all the things I have just mentioned. It would be career suicide to do so. I really don't think any of this would have gotten the traction it has if it wasn't for the initial cultural delusion that snuck in and blindsided us in the 1960s. I'm talking, of course, about postmodern thought, the worldview that made truth and reality a relative and subjective ...

Today's Flash Back Friday comes from Episode 38, originally published in November 2010. Jason Hartman talks with Geoffrey Simmons about the CERTS program and emergency preparedness. Have you thought about the following questions lately? 1. Who are CERTS? 2. Are most people prepared? You do you think they were as disasters around the world seem to appear on nightly news every day. 3. What basic preparation do people need to have around their home for preparedness? At school? At work? 4. What are the important drills in preparation? 5. What should your children know? 6. What about people with pets, what should they do? 7. How does one know to shelter-in-place versus evacuate? And how does a person prepare for either possibility? 8. What about important papers, photos, family heirlooms? 9. Do you have a list of important Do's and Don'ts? 10. Where can I get more information and/or training? Geoffrey Simmons (born 1943) is a medical doctor, author, lecturer, trainer and intelligent design advocate in Eugene, Oregon. He is a doctor of internal medicine for the Peacehealth Medical Group in Eugene, boarded in internal medicine and disaster medicine. Simmons is a fellow at the Center for Science and Culture, part of the Discovery Institute. In early 2006 Physicians and Surgeons for Scientific Integrity, headed by Rich Akins (was not established by the Discovery Institute, but as a nonprofit anti-evolution organization). Of its activities, the PSSI held a “Doctors Doubting Darwin” rally in September, 2006. Also there was PSSI tour of Spain with the Spanish version of What Darwin didn't know, to five cities, Barcelona, Malaga, Madird, Leon and Viga, ten lectures altogether. He has lectured on several college campuses, many churches and a few synagogues. Simmons also teaches disaster preparedness locally, regionally and nationally.

Science is moving as fast as politics these days, and just as in the days of Galileo, science is being politicized and legislated. When you have to legislate science, it ain't pure science, is it? Nor is everyone's intentions necessarily always benevolent. Tune in and join the discussion on the Mad Scientists Exposed show! Tyrone Hayes is known for his research findings regarding the effects of the herbicide atrazine on frogs. Atrazine is often used by corn farmers, but Hayes' research illuminated serious questions about its safety. Syngenta, the manufacturer of atrazine, launched a campaign to discredit both Hayes and his research, which resulted in the settlement of a multi-million dollar class-action lawsuit against Syngenta.
