Jay Clarke returns to his imprint BLACKAXON for his 6th instalment which will be dropping in 4 parts across September and October 2021. The project titled ‘Riders of the Storm' was announced earlier in the year across his social media channels, where he made 4 previously unreleased and original tracks available to remix as part of a competition. This was opened up to all production levels, with the idea to give lesser experienced artists the chance to remix, get creative and most importantly have fun. Jay Clarke has carefully selected his favourite remixes, which include two Irish techno producers, as Dublin's Aero and Mode_1 both contribute their tracks to this exciting compilation. Today, we premiere Mode_1's remix, as the Subject resident and longtime figure within the Irish scene, provides us with a loopy and driving remix, primed and ready for the clubs and dance floors up and down the county. Garry is at Queen's Club waiting for the rain to stop so he can watch Jay Clarke in action. We follow Garry's day and his search for the Player's Lounge. Once found he unwisely takes on the king of table tennis, none other than Mr. Curt Clarke. Finally, the rain clears, and play is resumed. Featured in this episode: Jay Clarke
Garry travels to Jay Clarke's hotel to catch up with him and his brother Curt before the adventures begin at Queen's Club. Jay talks through the pleasure of playing there and how much it means to him and his brother. They talk openly and honestly about how they prepare for tournaments and give real insight into the Clarke world and the journey they are making. Featured in this episode: Jay Clarke
Ceri talks to long-time tennis photographer, Anthony Aduhene, about his profession and hears from many players about their love of Nottingham as a venue and a tournament. Ash Barty reveals she has family that lives nearby and Naomi Osaka talks about her battle to conquer grass as a surface. Meanwhile Harriet Dart tells us of the increased attention that doing well at Wimbledon can bring. Something she had previously experienced with Jay Clarke in the mixed doubles. Featured in this episode: Ash Barty, Naomi Osaka, Cam Norrie, Jo Konta, Dan Evans, Donna Vekic, Alex de Minaur and Harriet Dart.
A deluge of rain stops all play all day. The weather also keeps Garry away from Nottingham. Meanwhile Ceri takes the opportunity to chat with Curt Clarke, Jay Clarke's brother and coach. He learns more about the supportive Clarke family unit and the power of acceptance of situations. When finally the difficult decision is taken to play matches indoors away from the fans, Ceri gets the chance to chat again with Paul Jubb, watches Jay Clarke retire with an injury and late into the night witnesses Jack Draper win his first match at this level. Before turning the lights out at the venue, Ceri and Jack discuss this momentous occasion. Featured in this episode: Paul Jubb, Jack Draper
In Nottingham, rain yet again totals a day's play but luckily Ceri and Garry have the opportunity to make the short trip to Derby to watch Jay Clarke being put through various routines with his coaching and fitness team. The effort put in is gruelling but this is what it takes to be a professional athlete. Simon Brundish, the fitness guy, talks through all things physical and Ceri is shocked to find that we have three hamstrings and Garry only wants to talk glutes and calves. Featured in this episode: Jay Clarke

Rain stops play but Ceri and Garry get a surprise when Jay Clarke and his coach and brother Curt Clarke, invite them to the National Tennis Centre, to see what goes into a training session. Merry Christmas everyone, it's December 2019 and my final show of the year (although this will miss the usual Wednesday slot since its Christmas). The idea behind this show was to look back over the year and talk about what has been happening in terms of meetups, blogging and podcasting. Obviously we are going to go through the results of the Kodak competition too, so stay tuned to the end for that. ARTICLES Well, what a year, as far as blogging is concerned I wrote articles for: Analogue Wonderland 35mmc Kosmo Emulsive Street Photography magazine. We even had a guest article by David on my website about shooting infrared film too (check it out here). FRIENDSHIPS I would like to thank my friends for their continued support and help over the years teaching me how to improve my portraiture and lending me gear too. These are namely: Leon Broomhead, Jay Good, Jay Clarke, Stephen Rendall and Jon Scrimshaw. KODAK COMPETITION Quick update on this. PODCASTING As far as friendships are concerned, there are just times when you meet like-minded people. You cannot do this every time, but when you do it's a long-lasting relationship. These are (in no particular order): Jason Lane Steve Lloyd The Graybills Quinn Jacobson Dominique David & Ned Collyer John Hughes Andrew Sanderson Tuan Bui SHOOTS Occasionally there has been a group photoshoot and one model session too, which I really enjoy. The group shoots have been arranged by Jay Clarke at the x-church in Gainsborough. They are fantastic for learning, sharing, practising and networking. During December I shot a wedding too, it was to help a friend's daughter out in my home town of Scunthorpe. After checking out the venue earlier in the year I anticipated my gear would not be suitable but arranged something to get past this. Hopefully, in due course in the new year, I can show you some photos from this session. Shooting in December indoor is never easy and without light, you have no photo, so it was challenging. MEET UPS In early 2019 we managed to catch up with a few faces at the Photography Show and it was the first time I managed to speak with the likes of Stephen at Kosmo, Paul at Analog Wonderland, Steve Lloyd at Chromas, Sunny16 podcast team, Sam at Solarcan and John Whitemore to name a few. I was fortunate to catch up with Paul Lefko from L.A. during December. On the way home from meeting Paul, I dropped in at Cambridge to meet up with John Hughes. PROJECTS During 2019 the secret project ended, full details will be released in due course. The Washi project started and there was one update about issues with the camera, more details soon. For 2020, there is a street photography project due which is tailored around a few individuals and talks are ongoing with some analog photographers for another too. FUTURE During 2020 your first podcast due is with Bellamy at Japan Camera Hunter, there will be a fighter pilot due and many more to come. Don't be afraid of approaching me with your ideas, sell your story. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/photography-insights/message

In 1871, while the Great Chicago Fire was riveting the nation's attention, a blaze six times as deadly was ravaging a desperate town in northeastern Wisconsin. In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll tell the story of the Peshtigo fire, the deadliest wildfire in American history. We'll also watch an automated western and puzzle over some discounted food. Intro: Harry Mathews composed a poem in which every syllable is doubled. In 1766, French draughtsman Charles-Louis Clérisseau painted a Roman room to resemble a ruin. Sources for our feature on the Peshtigo fire: Denise Gess and William Lutz, Firestorm at Peshtigo, 2002. In this episode you will hear from Yasmin Clarke, former tour professional who now, plays an integral part, of Jay Clarke's team. We discuss Jasmin's quick rise to international level junior tennis and whether she believes her quick transition to the senior game was a positive or a negative. You will hear Jasmin speak fondly of how amazing her family have been in terms of support for all the siblings. We then go on to discuss how it is to be a female tennis coach in a male dominated industry. In between all of these things we chat all things tennis. Catherine and David are back with a bumper edition of The Tennis Podcast to reflect on everything that’s happened in the sport since Wimbledon. From Newport to Nanchang, all the noteworthy results and their implications are covered. Can Cecchinato or Fognini reach the ATP World Tour Finals? Who is 17-year-old Moscow titlist Olga Danilovic? And what’s the key to John Isner’s sustained success in Atlanta? Moreover, Britain’s Jay Clarke won the Binghamton Challenger. His prospects are discussed, as well as the proposals to revamp the ATP Challenger Tour from next year. Are the changes a good idea?Elsewhere, Marian Vajda has had some less-than-positive things to say about Pepe Imaz’s influence on Novak Djokovic. Those remarks came shortly after Djokovic wrote an open letter revealing the struggles he’s faced over the last two years. Catherine and David give their take on both subjects.Serena Williams has also made the headlines after tweeting her frustration at the way drug testing is carried out in tennis. She feels she has been subjected to discrimination. But is she ignoring some of the facts? It’s a murky picture, but both David and Catherine agree that tennis needs more drug testing, not less. There’s also debate over the pronunciation of ‘Bastad’, rumours that David and Catherine’s rematch may be around the corner, and a look at some of the quirkiest head-to-head records of all time.Last but not least, the winners of #TennisPodCastaways are announced. The Tennis Podcast is uploaded weekly throughout the year and daily at the Grand Slam tournaments. It is produced in associated with Telegraph Sport and sponsored by Amazon Prime Video, the new home of the US Open in the UK. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
