8 Seconds is a biographical sports drama based on the life of professional bull rider Lane Frost. The movie follows Lane's journey from a young aspiring cowboy to becoming a champion bull rider, his friendships, marriage struggles, and his tragic death in the rodeo arena. The story explores his relationship with his father, the pressures of the rodeo circuit, and his close friendship with fellow riders Tuff Hedeman and Cody Lambert. Despite his growing success, Lane faces challenges in balancing his career with his personal life, especially with his wife Kellie Frost. The climax of the movie portrays the fateful 1989 Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo, where Lane successfully rides the infamous bull Takin' Care of Business for 8 seconds. However, after dismounting, the bull gored him in the ribs, causing fatal internal injuries. The movie ends with an emotional tribute as Tuff Hedeman honors his friend with a tribute ride, finishing a bull ride in Lane's place. If you are new to the podcast then please consider following us on the platform that you love, we can be found most anywhere that you listen to your favorite podcasts. Starting the long journey back to Texas, we made it as far as Cheyenne, Wyoming. Where the 123rd Annual Cheyenne Frontier Days was just about to kick off their 10 days of the World Largest Outdoor Rodeo & Western Celebration. On the fairgrounds, stands a statue of a man on a great big bull, that man was Lane Frost. He died, doing what he loved. It was 30 years ago today, on July 30, 1989, in Cheyenne, WY, that World Champion Bull Rider, Lane Frost he had just completed an 85-point ride on the bull, "Takin' Care Of Business". Riding a full 8 seconds and dismounting without a wreck, the bull's horn struck him in the back, breaking several of his ribs and severing an artery. He got back onto his feet and waived for help, but he went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. But let's listen to a little clip that encapsulates his career, success, and death: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sY7bf7dvDL0 These songs came to mind when I was in Cheyenne, which in country music has become synonymous with both Bull Riding and Lane Frost, the legend. Here they will be presented as a sort of trilogy, (although, the middle song may take some liberties, I decided to include it here.) Enjoy. I would also like to note, that Luke Perry, Dylan from 90210, he passed away this past March year at the age of 52. Growing up at the time, he was extremely influential, a sort of James Dean type for my generation. And probably the greatest force responsible for my own and many sideburns on men my age. He played Lane frost in the 1994 film, 8 Seconds. He too will be missed. Thanks for listening. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tiny-curations-deep-dives/message

When we learned that Luke Perry had suffered a stroke, we thought we'd cover a film in his honour. We learned of his passing an hour or so before recording. We love him and have discussed a number of his films on the show before. This week, we chat about 8 Seconds, a biopic of rodeo legend Lane Frost. It lasted only about 8 seconds in theaters but does it deserve another chance? Tune in to find out. We also chat about Who Killed Jam Master Jay?, Lego Movie 2: The Second Part and the Breaker Upperers. marriedwithclickers@gmail.com
Today is all about bull-riding as we check out the biopic 8 Seconds. Released on the 25th of Feb in '94, Luke Perry plays real life cowboy champion Lane Frost, and he loves to ride bulls almost as much as he likes to have long conversations. Follow the show! I was captivated listening to Johns story, steeped in legendary Rodeo history. Join me as I talk with John Growney one of the hardest working men in Rodeo. John has a passion & drive for everything Rodeo & Cowboy working tirelessly to help ensure the growth and future of our sport. Growney Brothers Rodeo Company started in 1977 and has put on amateur rodeos, high school, college and pro rodeos every since. In 1983 John purchased the bull Red Rock and started bucking him in PRCA rodeos. An interesting fact about Red Rock was that outside the arena he was dog gentle & loved to be scratched. Red Rock was retired after the 1987 National Finals Rodeo, unridden in 309 attempts but his retirement was short lived. In 1988, John Growney created the “Challenge of the Champions.” This seven-ride match pitted Red Rock, 1987 PRCA Bucking Bull of the Year, against Lane Frost, 1987 world bull riding champion, portrayed in the critically acclaimed 1994 movie “8 Seconds”. Frost finished with a 4-3 advantage, but it did more to Red Rock’s fame than his previous 309-0 record. Red Rock was retired at the Growney Brothers Ranch in Red Bluff, California. In our last podcast titled “Real Men Know She Comes First with Ian Kerner”, Ian explained to us the importance of using oral sex to fully please a woman. He calls it “Core Play” because that’s what brings the most pleasure to women. He also created the word “Cliteracy” and tells men that there are no more excuses for being “Ill-cliterate” with women. Ian Kerner says “Down with ill-cliteracy! The tongue is mightier than the sword! Think outside HER box! Viva la Vulva!” His book “She Comes First” is mainly targeted at helping men understand women’s sexual needs better and gives a step by step guide to blow a woman’s mind in the bedroom. As awesome as Ian Kerner’s book is at helping men, it is only half the battle. Women need to know their bodies better and what brings them pleasure. Our guest today, Laurie Mintz wrote the book “Becoming Cliterate Why Orgasm Equality Matters and How To Get it”. In this amazing book, Laurie guides women in exploring their bodies to understand what they like so they can express that desire to their partners to bring them maximum pleasure. Her mission is to close the “Orgasm Gap” that has been affecting women for centuries. This notion that sex is for the man’s pleasure and it’s a woman’s duty to satisfy men is so 1950s. Today’s women need to grab their orgasms by the horns and ride that pleasure beast like the world champion bull rider “Lane Frost”. It’s time to take matters into your own hands…literally…and know thy self or at least know thy vulva. If you don’t know how your vulva brings you pleasure, stop expecting your man to be some kind of Magellan that goes on a lifelong expedition to find your O-face. You need to figure it out and then provide the pleasure map to your partner. Laurie Mintz lays this out perfectly in her bestselling book “Becoming Cliterate” and this is a must read for anyone that was lucky enough to be born with a clit, the greatest pleasure generator ever designed. I know everyone wants to jump online and order “Becoming Cliterate” and get down to business, but before you do that listen to this amazing interview with Laurie Mintz right now.Website: http://drlauriemintz.com/
