Welcome back, Crime Family, this week we are on Episode 44, and you're not going to want to miss these stories.Bailey goes first to remind us about the horrific North Carolina murder of Latrese Curtis. She was traveling between Durham and Raleigh when she was brutally killed on the side of the highway a mile from her abandoned car. In the end it turned out that she was victimized by one of the last people anyone would have thought to look at. And the reason for it is....well....you'll see.Beth brings the story of several crimes. Some of the crimes were against nature, which led to the final crime--the near-death of Charla Nash. Travis the chimpanzee was raised in an environment at odds with his instincts. But Charla went through absolute hell and her entire life changed forever when Travis lost it and mauled her. She has been through more than anyone should ever go through, and 13 years down the road, she is one of the strongest, most determined, and least woeful people you could meet. There is a lot of nuance in why this terrible thing happened to her, so hopefully we as humans have learned something. And we can definitely learn a lot from her resilience. After you finish this episode, you ought to go check out and subscribe to our friends Carmen and Joanna at Live, Laugh, Murder Podcast! Every week, awesome storyteller Carmen tells a story that MIGHT be true crime, or it MIGHT be a plot from a horror movie. Allegedly the people on Facebook are calling out social media comedienne Latrese Allen, so I went over to see what the buzz was about. I just decided to scratch the surface on some of the things that I witnessed because it would literally take a lifetime to go through all the lies allegedly being told from the mouth of this one woman. yall just have to take a listen for yourself. Join me on this episode of the Redefining Grief podcast as I speak with the powerful Latrese Kabuya, who shares how she's had to actively get to a place where she had to tell the truth to overcome the pain she was burdened with. Learn about the moving journey Latrese had in life and how truth and faith had her come out of the many challenges she was hit with, in life. It wouldn't be difficult to realize that Latrese was overwhelmed with the challenges that came her way. Years back, Latrese had lost her oldest child, oldest sister, had faced a rough divorce, and was a single mother. Added to this, she was looked upon for her body figure and had also faced molestation. She felt disconnected from God, her belief system was shattered. When things like "If you cry, that means you don't have faith in God", "God took her because he needed an angel", "You're tough, you'll be okay" burdened her even more. She did not grieve; until 20 years later, when she cried herself out through the misery— Latrese recollects how this started her healing process. When you don't face it, it keeps manifesting in very stressful ways. She put her faith in God only to realize she was blessed. However hard life could get, he had his presence over her and loved her no matter what. Latrese also shares how she made her way out of her divorce from her ex-husband and how eventually, she found love in her husband today. Connecting strongly with God not only helped her heal herself but had her discover and redefine herself in unimaginable ways. She got the strength to endure and never quit. When she changed her mindset about her purpose, her value increased. Sometimes, what you require is to pause and introspect. If Latrese could find her purpose in life, it was because she faced and told the truth. The Truth anchor is real. Listen in and learn how this conversation could resonate with you too! Listen as my guest, Angelique Ambers and host Latrese Cherry explain Angelique's book "Lessons Taught By Daddy" and the issues that arise when strong father features aren't present in our lives. Angelique Ambers is a poet and writer who lives in Illinois. While she has been writing poetry for many years she recently started performing her work as a spoken word artist in the Chicago area in 2019. Additionally, she was the host for Hot Sauce Poetry which is an inspirational open mic in Chicago, earning her a 2020 nomination for a National Spoken Word Award in the category of “Best Host”. “Lessons Taught by Daddy” is the first collection of poems that Ambers has published. However, she has been featured in other collections such as the She Will Speak Series: Gender Based Violence Anthology which included two of her poems “Rotting” and “Revival”. She will always write because in the words of Maya Angelou “there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” In sharing her experiences, unpacking trauma, reflecting on healing, and discussing heavy issues like domestic violence, discrimination, and depression Angelique Ambers hopes to teach valuable lessons and encourage others. Relationships, Raising Children In This Crazy World Guest Latrese Allen | TBANS (323-870-4064) http://www.youtube.com/c/TimsTake/live
As I send my kids off to another year of school, I want them to remember who they are and how strong they are. I want them to keep their mind renewed with the Word of God. As parents, we are always trying to do the right things for our kids. One of the best things you can do is teach them the Word of God, teach them who they are in Christ, and teach them confessions to speak over their lives. Listen to Latrese as she speaks over our children for the 2016-2017 school year.
Are you speaking what you see or what you saw? Are you speaking what you feel or what the Word is saying? It is easy to get caught up with life and the punches that are thrown at you. We have all been guilty of speaking facts instead of truth. Facts are what you see and they are temporary, but truth is the Word of God. Your words are a manifestation of what you are saying whether it's good or bad. Listen to Latrese as she challenges us to speak our blessings and not curses.
Have you ever had a dream that was so big you were scared to believe in it? Or maybe you had a dream that you have never told anyone because you were afraid that if you told someone they would laugh at you? Listen to this podcast as Latrese share how her dreams spoke to her about her purpose in life.
In this podcast, Latrese reminds us that as believers we have the right to be free in our mind, free in our finances, free in our health, and free in our job.
Hailing from Bluffton, SC, a small coastal town nestled between the beautiful Sea Islands of South Carolina and Georgia, Latrese projects the mix of cultural, soulful, and rhythmic sounds she heard as a little girl with dreams of making her own music for audiences all around the world. Latrese refuses to be forced into a box. She has used her musical abilities to open doors in acting. She made her acting debut in the feature film, The Fighting Temptations, featuring super star artist Beyonce Knowles and Oscar winner Cuba Gooding, Jr. She also performed background vocals on the motion picture’s soundtrack. Later she expanded her credits by appearing in Tyler Perry’s House of Payne’s, Palmer Williams’ play For Better or For Worse. She has visited the basement before and she returns with new deliciously soulful music!

We are rounding out So Money "Millennial" week! A “So Money” Millennial is someone who has proven to have accomplished a great deal in the their financial life in their 20s or early 30s. So often we hear about the struggles which are very real and sobering: the average college student graduates with around $35,000 in student loans, often lots more. It’s tough to find a job, save and sometimes you have to live with your parents. But today’s guest wrote in to me to say that she believes she is ahead of the curve. And I have to agree. We’re going to be speaking with Latrese Bookhard. She is twenty-six and currently serves in the military. She says, Farnoosh, "I’m debt free, have a net worth approaching $100,000 and I paid off $53,000 in student loan debt. I max my annual Thrift Savings Plan and Roth IRA contributions. I save well over 50% of my take home pay and consider myself an aspiring “Millionaire Next Door” and early retiree. I’ve always been frugal but I kicked everything into high gear when I found a Yahoo Finance article profiling Mr. Money Mustache two years ago. His blog has led me to many other blogs, books and podcasts and has helped me really change how I think about money." So let’s learn more about Latrese. How does she think about money and what lessons does she have to teach us all?
