We use them for work and for entertainment, and when our kids see us using these tools, they want to use them too.   But what is too much screen time for our children, and what is an appropriate use of that time?   Today we’re going to explore those questions with our guest Lindsay McCarthy, a homeschooling mother of a boy and a girl ages nine and five. Lindsay also runs a Facebook community called The Miracle Morning for Parents and Families.   When Lindsay reached out for help, she said, “One of my biggest struggles is how to help my kids love to read when they are bombarded with easier ways of entertainment and fact-finding due to technology.   “We have a limit for them of 2 hours of screen time a day, but often get complaints from them when we enforce that rule. I'd love some tips on how to balance technology in our homeschool.”   So how do we foster a family culture that values what technology offers, without allowing it to take over? I wasn’t always a morning person. In fact, it wasn’t until I discovered The Miracle Morning that I decided to ditch my night owl tendencies and start to wake up earlier. Morning routines really just set the tone for the rest of the day. If you wake up and you're already feeling hurried, that energy takes you throughout the whole day and you never really feel like you catch up. But if you start the day intentionally and say, “these are the six things that I'm going to do to start my day” and get those done, you already feel so accomplished. You feel like you can take on anything for the whole rest of the day. Lindsay McCarthy wrote her book, Miracle Morning For Parents and Families because once she really started implementing a morning routine, she saw how much it worked and all the benefits that came from it. And she has just really taken charge of her mornings for her family, not just for herself. After speaking with her, I think I'm going to start some “miracle morning” stuff with my kids as well and not keep it just for myself. I hope you take action to do the same for your family too! Hello and welcome to this special solocast, a chance for me to reflect on the first full year of living what I call my E.P.I.C. Life, the first year of the podcast, and what feels like the ending of a first chapter of this journey as I get ready to launch Season Three. After a long winter break, one my son Ryan especially encouraged me to take, I’m back and I’m so honored and excited for what’s to come.  Before recording this solocast, I was interviewed on Sage Hobbs’ Naked Conversations Podcast. She asked me right out of the gate what courage means to me. I encourage you to tune into that conversation when it comes out for the full story on my answer, but in essence I said, “Courage to me is standing in my truth and power, even in the face of fear, for love.”  I love the quest I’ve been on. I love those of you who I’ve met along the journey. And I love this vision for Mother’s Quest and all it stands for. So, I’m bravely recording again, with a commitment along the way to do my best to let go of perfection and share what feels true.  Spring is Coming – And Season Three With It I’m recording and bringing this episode to you in early March 2018, as seeds are sprouting and even some flowers have begun blooming and there is this sense of spring coming in the air. In many of my coaching circles that I’ve been facilitating, we’ve been using the metaphor of planting seeds as we’ve all set intentions for what we want to create in our life this spring. And I decided that I wanted to carry this metaphor of seeds and growth forward in this episode.  It seems fitting and full circle because the first episode I ever recorded, episode 00, which was also a solocast, was called Planting Seeds for Mother’s Quest. That episode captured all the moments, experiences and wishes I had as I set forward to build this vision for Mother’s Quest. Since then, there has been so much growth, in myself, in my family, and in the Mother’s Quest Community.  I want to use this episode that I’m calling “Sprouting Seeds for Mother’s Quest,” to reflect on what’s already taken visible form from those intentions I set over a year ago, some of the gifts I’ve taken from the women who have come onto the podcast to share their stories and words of wisdom, and also to share what I’m on a quest for now and therefore what you can expect in Season Three.  This episode dedicated by: Jody Smith, a like-minded mother on a quest who is getting ready to launch her own mission, a children’s book that empowers girls. E.P.I.C. Guideposts In this episode, I explore just a few moments from the podcast across the guideposts that have impacted me most: E –  Ways to be more mindfully engaged. I’ve made space for more “special time,” adventure fridays and lots of reflective conversation in the car with my children. One of the things I’ve continued to appreciate the most is the way in which my children have shared with me and supported me. One that stands out is Jacob’s “focus on our goodness” comment after Trump was elected which became the message on the sign at the first Women’s March which I attended and his advice to me before I did my first live event interview.  Selected Clip: And there was this moment, with my son Ryan, which I share on the podcast episode with Kristina Kuzmic. Ep 11: “Flawed” with Truth Bomb Mom Kristina Kuzmic P – Making a passionate and purposeful impact beyond my family. So much has changed with Mother’s Quest as this vehicle I’ve developed. Since I launched the podcast, the MQ Community has grown to almost 500 members, I’ve launched my first Mother’s Quest Circle, and I’ve taken on a dream client in the organization Emerging Women to facilitate circles for them. My podcast interview with Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin helped me to develop more of what I call an activist muscle, led me to have an opportunity to interview her in person at her live event in the bay area and to be invited as a panelist for her upcoming Gaia Lead Conference.  But the greatest impact I think has been my willingness to share about my experience along the way, bringing back reflections, challenges, and lessons learned with my family and community. Selected Clip: This part of my conversation with Elizabeth summarized well this unique aspect of the heroine’s journey.  Ep 24: Intersectionality and the Age of the New Heroine with Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin I – Investing in myself. My conversation with Lindsay McCarthy about the Miracle Morning, and the 10 day challenge we then did in the facebook group, definitely expanded my morning practice, and an exploration of my own roots through a Jewish practice called Mussar with Edie Raphael Brotman built upon that. Danielle Dutton shined a light on the importance of meditation and taking time to yourself. My conversation with Nicole Lee was instrumental in helping me hold a growth mindset for myself and my children when it comes to courageous conversations about race.  Selected Clip: This reminder about self-care that came forward in my conversation with Women’s March organizer Paola Mendoza, about its importance as an act of political warfare and about building moments of self-care into your daily life, has also stayed with me.  Ep 16: Rising Up with Paola Mendoza C – Connecting to experiences of gratitude with the people in our lives and building relationships. Nancy Netherland’s conversation touched me in so many ways, and has deepened my gratitude practice with my husband and my children. My conversation with Samantha Ettus helped me think about the importance of inviting people into my home and reaching out when I’m feeling the need for connection. As a result, I hosted my first ever Multicultural Yom Kippur Break the Fast and also hosted a tea and did an interview of my friend Chelsea Bonini who was running for City Council.  Selected Clip: Finally, I really appreciated this moment on the podcast with Nicole Lee about building connections across differences and the importance of authentic relationships that are not transactional. I’ve come back to this again and again, and am honored to now count Nicole Lee as a friend.  Ep 27: Courageous Conversations about Race with Nicole Lee What I’m on a quest for now:  Without a doubt, my E.P.I.C. life is still, as it should be, a work in progress. Some challenges I’ve made progress on and even feel a sense of completion about. Others I have taken some steps, but more work is ahead, need to circle back to them, and trust they will resurface or I’ll make movement at just the right time. There are other goals and areas for learning that have come into sharper focus. Here are some things I’m most on a quest for and will be bringing guests on to help light the way for. Tune into the podcast for specifics on some of the guests who are already confirmed or on my wish list: E – To honor my children. I want to continue to engage mindfully with my children and to more deeply understand who they are and how to support them to grow into their fullest expression of themselves.  P –  Moving away from fear and resistance and into more ease and flow, especially in my work and continuing to grow my social justice lens and my activist muscle.  I – Continuing to grow my skills in being mindful and present. I’m on a quest to cook and eat more healthy food for myself and my family, balancing my own use of screen-time, finding help in navigating changing hormones as I get older and improving my time management and organizational skills.  C- Connection with my own ancestors, roots and rituals. Deepening friendships, networks of support during challenging times, and making time to nurture my relationship with my husband.  Along with these intentions and directions for conversation and growth, I’m committed to two  particular things as I move forward into this next two chapter.  1)The first is to remember that it’s the journey and not the destination that is what it’s really all about.  2) The second is a commitment to live MY version of an E.P.I.C. life, not somebody’s else’s, and to continue digging into more and more what that really means for me. And also to support YOU in defining what that means for you.  This Week’s Challenge: Read my post on how my meaning of the ultimate success has changed over the last year.  Grab your journal, think about what you might have defined as your E.P.I.C. life in the past and then identify what feels more real for you now.  Answer these questions… What are you most on a quest for now?  What does YOUR version of an E.P.I.C. life, not someone else’s, mean to YOU?  Announcements: Virtual Mother’s Quest Circle Pilot Applications close this weekend for the first Virtual Mother’s Quest Circle Pilot. This week we had the privilege of interviewing Lindsay McCarthy, co-author of Miracle Morning for Parents and Families.  We talked about the different elements of a “Miracle Morning” and how they can help improve your life each day.   To have a miracle morning you should wake up earlier than your normal time and do S.A.V.E.R.S.  These include time for Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, and Scribing.  Each of these give you time for meditation, goal setting, self improvement, and focus.   After starting to practice miracle mornings Lindsay involved her two children.  They renamed the practice C.H.A.R.M.S for her children.  This includes Creativity, Heath, Affirmations, Reading, Meditation, and Services.  She has made this a daily expectation in her home for the children, herself, and her husband.   In the book she also shares some parents skills.  One that we discussed was being more playful with your kids.  She encourages us to take time to play whatever they want to play; really focus on the child without distraction.   MOM SQUAD CHALLENGE: Lindsay encouraged us all to try to have a “Miracle Morning.”  It counts even if we just start with just one of the S.A.V.E.R.S each day, or do each one for one minute.  Find out more about the Miracle Morning for Parents and Families at gratefulparent.com.

I’m excited to bring you this Episode #23 of the Mother’s Quest Podcast. I’m just back from an amazing week at one of my most favorite places, UCLA’s Bruin Woods Family Camp in Lake Arrowhead, where I felt like I had an amazing reset…a chance to unplug and notice some patterns from a fresh perspective. It’s so perfect then, that I came back to put the finishing touches on this episode with author of the Miracle Morning for Parents and Families, Lindsay McCarthy. I’ve been wanting to have Lindsay on the podcast for a while now; I knew I had a lot to learn from her about how to change my relationship with mornings, but I didn’t realize our conversation would inspire a collaborative 30 day Mother’s Quest Miracle Morning Challenge that will start Monday, July 17th. Lindsay is a wife and homeschool mom of two kids. She is the co-author of The Miracle Morning for Parents and Families, has a facebook community of the same name, and is creator of GratefulParent.com where she blogs. Lindsay and I have a lot in common in that neither of us could have imagined we would step into owning and sharing our voice and our story with others until fairly recently, she through her book and me through the podcast. We go deep in this conversation about the epic journey that brought Lindsay from attending a conference where she met Miracle Morning author Hal Alred to essentially writing a manual for bringing the Miracle Morning practice to parents and families. We talk about our mutual love of frameworks and acronyms and how she and her husband adapted the Miracle Morning’s SAVERS to create their own acronym, CHARMS, which brings Creativity, Health, Affirmations, Reading, Meditation, and Service to her children every morning. I love how Lindsay brings intentionality and mindfulness to her parenting and how she’s living her own version of an E.P.I.C. life, one rooted in being an amazing mom and co-creating incredible learning experiences for her children. She helped me change my perception of what homeschooling can look like and realize that we are all like a homeschooling mom when we seek opportunities for our children to pursue their curiosity and passions. I’m also impressed by how committed Lindsay is to this Miracle Morning practice which has dramatically changed her family’s life and the lives of so many others through her book and group. I’m thrilled I finally got a chance to talk with Lindsay and that together we will create this collaborative challenge. I have a strong feeling that this Miracle Morning practice will make a huge difference for me and I know I need some support and accountability to make it happen. I can’t imagine a better guide than Lindsay and I hope you’ll choose to come along with us. This Week’s Challenge: Join us for the 30-Day Mother’s Quest Miracle Morning Challenge. Sign up to follow us with daily prompts and reflections in the Mother’s Quest Facebook Group. Topics discussed in this episode: Lindsay’s mother modeled creating opportunities for her children by setting up a field hockey team for her and other girls in their community. How attending Hal Elrod’s One Life Fully Lived conference in 2014 provided an opportunity for Lindsay to create what became like an operating manual for her family The importance of having a morning practice. How the C.H.A.R.M.S. (Creativity, Health, Affirmations, Reading, Meditation, Service) framework works in their family and how it can be adapted for other families. Tips on “Habit Stacking” and adding mindfulness and purpose to everyday activities. Working with a spiritual coach to support self discovery. Slowing down to have the space to create what you truly want. How Lindsay came to homeschooling her children, how she accesses other resources outside of her home as part of that, and how we are all homeschoolers in some way with our children Resources mentioned in this episode: The Miracle Morning for Parents and Families: How to Bring Out the Best in Your KIDS and Your SELF by Hal Elrod, Mike & Lindsay McCarthy The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life (Before 8AM) by Hal Elrod One Life Fully Lived Conference Gobundance, the company and mastermind of Mike, Lindsay’s husband Spirit Coach Training with Jenai Lane, Lindsay’s spiritual coach Make Me App Grateful Parent, Lindsay’s blog The Miracle Morning for PARENTS & FAMILIES Facebook Community The Miracle Morning Community 30-Day Mother’s Quest Miracle Morning Challenge at the Facebook Group Announcements If you haven’t yet visited the website, head over to www.mothersquest.com to explore some of the ways you can get more connected. Redefining Balance for Working Mom Podcast by Your Life Rocks

Here we are again, at the beginning of a high expectation season.  For me, expectations equal stress, which is why this is so ironic.  Summer time is supposed to be a casual, easy time.  No stress.   But let’s be real.  We only get a handful of summers with our kids before they are grown up.  And if you are like me, we want to help them make some great memories of summer time.  Plus, summer is a great time of growth for kids, both physically and otherwise.   The real cause for the stress from expectations?  The comparison game.  It’s strong come summer time.  For me, it starts with all the summer time movies of awesome camps, cookouts, time spent at the lake, amazing Fourth of July scenes where there doesn’t seem to be a lot of crowds and everyone is having a good time.  It creates a false expectation of the laid back, fun in the sun summer.  Then we can add a second layer of comparison with social media. Seeing people talk about their travel plans, fun things they are going to do, their kids dressed up in cute summertime outfits and mini sunglasses.  It can stress you out.  Well, it stresses me out. But, what if it didn’t have to be that way?  What if you could be intentional about your summer and design it...almost like a work project? Let’s do it! Alright, so let’s start with a goal.  What is your desired outcome for the summer? Let’s go a bit deeper here than “just have fun”.  Think about coming into September and looking back on the summer and answer these questions. What do you want your kids to learn this summer? How do you want them to describe the summer? How do you want to describe the summer? Now that you have a goal and a direction to go in, let’s lay out the realities of the situation. Let’s talk timeline and budget. First, timeline. Pull out a calendar with your kids and count the days of summer.  How many days do they have? Next, write out all the activities that they already have planned.  Summer camp, VBS, going to grandmas….. Then, and without your kids knowing what you are doing, look at your work calendar and their activity calendar and count how many full days you have with them. Chances are, it’s not a lot.  Now there are a lot of things that you can do in the evenings and even before work.  Things you can set them up with for while you are working.  We can still make an impact toward the goals for them while we are working, but knowing how many full days we have will give us a reality to base activities off of to reach our overall objective.   So, how many days do you have with them? Now that we have a clear goal and timeline, let’s look at the budget.  How much money do you have to spend on summer this year?  Obviously, some of your already allocated budgets can go to having an awesome summer.  Things like food can make a big impact. This is where stress can start to come in.  Some of the expectations that we have for summer require a lot of time and/or money.  If we don’t have the time and money to create that expectation, that is where we can have the adult version of a temper tantrum.  We don’t call it that, we call it stress and guilt.   However, by being intentional about it ahead of time we can take an objective look at the situation, and choose something different. Look at your budget and talk to your husband.  How much money can you put toward summer activities and fun?  Whatever the number is, you can work with it.  Just like you do every day.  You are creative and resourceful.   Now that we have laid the groundwork, it’s time to start planning the fun stuff! Next up, brainstorming session.  Make a family summer bucket list.  This has been a tradition of our family for a while.  I ask the kids what they want to do this summer.  Actually, I ask them, “if we do nothing else this summer, what are the 2-3 things that you want to be sure we do?  What are you must do’s?” They give me their top 2-3 things and we write it down.  Now, just for fun, we write it down on a big sheet of paper.  You know the ones, easel paper with sticky note stuff on the back?  I highly recommend buying one of the easel paper packs with a dry erase front to have at your home.  We use it all the time for games, planning, school work.  It’s only about $35 and a great tool.  Click here to see what I’m talking about. Then, I write down my 2-3 things that are my must-dos and my husband does the same.   Looking at the kid's list, you want to compare it to the calendar. This momma, is where we need to stay in check.  Often times, we want to be involved in all the special times.  We plan things so that we are the center of what is going on.  We gotta let that go.  What is important is that the kids are getting what they need, regardless of who is giving it to them.  As a working mom, you may have already overcome this.  But if not, pray about it.  We can’t make it about us, we have to keep it about the kids. Ok, so look at their list and see if they are already getting some of the things from the list.  For example.  My son wants to go fishing.  He already has a fishing trip planned with his uncle.  Sweet, done.  Now in truth, we will probably go fishing a lot because it’s and moves us closer to our goals of quality time outside an unplugged from electronics (that is my goal for the kids this summer).  But, if we weren’t able to go more often we can still cross it off the list. Now, let’s come back to the point I was talking about earlier….about your involvement with the list.  Look at the list and pick just 1-2 things that are most important that you are there with the kids for. For so many of my past summers, my husband was staying at home with the kids and would take them places and have fun during the day.  That was his job.  I can remember coming home from work and hearing about a movie that they went to go see.  It was a movie that the kids were really looking forward to seeing and knew they would be talking about it a ton.  And I wasn’t there to watch it with them.  It wasn’t about the movie, it was about feeling like I was missing out on an inside joke.  It’s the little things that can make being a working mom hard. After that experience, I started communicating the things that were important that I was there for.  That way my husband and anyone else taking care of them knew that I wanted to do those things with the kids.  Making summer memories are just as much for you as it is for the kids.  These are memories of your babies youth that you will carry with you as they grow.  Speak up without guilt. Now, let’s put all the pieces together.  Let’s plan this summer!   I have put all the pieces that we talked about in a handing planning guide for you complete with your calendar, and many more bonuses to intentional make this summer awesome.  Click here to let me know the best email to send it to. We have to align the time available with the activity and when the budget is available.  This can be a balancing act, but I know you can do it.  There isn’t a lot I can tell you on this part because it will be different for each family. Now that you have the major events planned for summer, let’s talk about the small stuff.  Sometimes this is where the magic really happens.  For this section, we are going to break it up into practical and the awesome. The practical: Let’s talk summer routines for kids.  This is a bit of a hard one.  Well, it can be.  We will be having an expert sharing about this inside our Life Balance Membership as part of our intentional summer series.  If you are not yet a member, now is a great time to join so you get all the extras and bonuses that go along with the summer series. For me, I will be mandating a bedtime and wake up time but it will be very generous.  Instead of a schedule, I am creating a checklist and using some of what Lindsay McCarthy shared a few episodes back.  If you missed that episode, it was #75.  She is the co-author of Miracle mornings for parents and families.   While we are talking about practical things, let's talk about your supply list.  Here is a link to my recommendations from Amazon.  But like my husband says, you have to have the right tool for the job.  Things like Sunscreen, sing ointment, water bottles, and the fun stuff like glow sticks and sidewalk chalk.  Look at your list of activities and determine what items you will need and get them ahead of time. Did you know if you click here and shop Amazon you are helping to support the Your Life Rocks podcast? When I was growing up, my mom was not very practical.  You won’t hear me talk a lot about my mom because it’s just too painful to share much about, but I will say this.  She was really great at making things special and magical.  I am so thankful that God gave me that through her. This is the fun stuff.  There are a lot of little inexpensive things you can do to make summer special.  From building a fort out of blankets and letting your kids sleep in it to pancakes that are the shape of the sun (yes the sun is a circle and so are pancakes but it’s all in the presentation).  Think of the things your kid's love, and work that in. We have a party on the last day of school.  We don’t invite people over, but we celebrate.  The kids get a summer survival kit complete with flashlights, glowsticks, art supplies, and fishing gear.  They love it and it makes an official launch into summer. Any little thing like family walks after dinner, ice pops in the freezer and sparklers on evenings that aren't the fourth of July.  They all work together to create memories with your kiddos, and for you. Don’t underestimate the effect food can have.  The smells and tastes of summer can be amazing, so dive in!  Inside Life Balance Membership I will be sharing a few of my favorite summertime recipes.  Really, don’t think these things are not important because they are.  The smell of the barbecue, corn on the cob, strawberries, and crawfish bakes.  They are the food of summer time for us.  What food reminds you most of the summer?  Ask your kids the same question and make sure you include those foods often this year. Now that we have talked about executing project summer awesomeness, let’s talk about review your progress.  Please hear me when I say, hold these plans loosely.  Slow down and breath deep.  Remember your intentions at the start of this process.  Remember the desired outcome.  Sometimes we get so attached to the tactics, the stuff in the middle.  Give yourself lots of grace.  Know that not everything will go as planned.  Don’t stress.  Be as present as a possible.  Listen to the stories your kids tell.  Teach them things.  Laugh, skip, and splash in the water with them.  Summertime is precious.  Just like every other time in the year.  It’s a blessing.  Thank God for what he has given and pray for safety and that the kids would get a better glimpse of him as they play in the sun.

The Miracle Morning is a worldwide phenomenon and Lindsay is the author of one of the books in the series “the Miracle Morning for parents and families”. She is a wife and mom of two kids.   Lindsay talks about her “plan” for her life and how she envisioned motherhood. She talks about how everything went according to plan but once she was done having kids she felt like “is this happily ever after?”. She felt like she wasn't fully satisfied living her dream. But she didn't have any dreams past being a stay at home.   She talks about meeting Hal Elrod at a self-development conference and being moved by something he said. “The moment I accept responsibility for everything in my life is the moment I gain the power to change anything in my life”   She had been using her kids as an excuse not to follow her dreams. First it was sleeping through the night, then it was when they're in school….It was always something that was holding her back.   She was inspired by Hal because his story is so powerful and he has overcome so much adversity so if he can do it she can. She became more purposeful about creating the life she wanted.   Sunit says that when she was reading the Miracle Morning she kept thinking she wasn't sure if she could do this because she is not a morning person. Lindsay says she isn't either and in the world of miracle morning she wakes up pretty late. Sunit asks her to give listeners a rundown of what Miracle Morning is all about.   Lindsay says it is basically the way you start your day. Hal did a bunch of research to find out what some of the most successful people in the world are doing in their lives first thing in the morning and he combined the most commonly mentioned things to create the life SAVERS.   Silence Affirmations Visualisation Exercise Reading Scribing   Lindsay introduced the concept to her own family but decided to change it to accommodate her family preferences. They combined "silence" with "visualization" and called it "meditation", kept "affirmations" and "reading" the same, and changed "exercise" to "health" and "scribing" to "creativity". They also added an “S” for "service" because this is important to them in their family, to develop a heart for serving others.   Sunit says this is so important to understand that doing these things from early on will make it normal in your family. It is never too early to start thinking about these things.   Lindsay shares the story about how she met Hal at a conference she was speaking at and just shared with him how the Miracle Morning had changed her life and that of her kids and he was shocked that their family was doing this with their kids. After some back and forth and communication with each other, Hal asked Lindsay to write the next book in the series because he felt it was important to get this message out to parents. Through writing the book Lindsay learned that parent are their children's greatest teachers, it all starts with them. Parents should understand and practice this themselves. Sunit says yes “start as you meant to go”, if you are practicing the habits and values you want to instill in your kids, they will grow up with it and it will come naturally to them.   Sunit mentions that the Miracle Morning advocates for people to get up an hour early to do their practice. How does this change with kids? Lindsay says she does not get up and hour before her kids. It's usually only about 15 minutes before. She meditates and does her journaling. She also points out that her Miracle Morning is customizable-she meditates in bed and doesn't do the SAVERS in that order. You can make it work for you.   Lindsay says meditation is not a new concept to kids, it seems new to us as adults who haven't practiced it, but we make it into something harder than it actually it is. Sunit says meditation is really just anything that gets you focused in the present moment. They give tips on how to get older kids to meditate. Sunit says she heard that you can tell kids to focus on one object, and encourage them to explore all the physical aspects of it. Like how it might feel, look, taste, etc.   Lindsay says there are also simple ways to get them to focus on their breath. Placing stuffed toys on their belly, etc.   Sunit talks about the common responses people have to this type of thing. Limiting beliefs and using your kids as an excuse not to do stuff. Lindsay says kids can learn anything that we want them to learn. And that THEY want to learn. When children are ready, they I'll learn. An example is reading. People think you have to teach your child to read, but in fact, when they are ready, they will learn, as long as you give them the opportunity. Change your mindset.   You'll never truly be ready or feel you have time. If that is your mindset it will never happen. Say yes and figure it out later. Start before you're ready.   Sunit asks Lindsay for tips to set our kids up for success.   They talk about “the family board meeting”. Spending one on one time with your children once a quarter. The kids get to pick the activity. Doing something that they choose and have one on one time with you is really special. Building memories and keeping relationships fresh is so important. Sunit recalls a point from the book about scheduling your family first and then schedule around that. Lindsay says you have to find what rhythm works for your family.   Sunit reiterates that the Miracle Morning can be whatever you want it to be. Although many people think they can't get up earlier and end up loving it. She talks about being at the boss mom retreat and Pat Flynn showing up and saying he gets up at 430 in the morning to do his MM, even though he never used to be a morning person.   Sunit asks how to fit in the Miracle Morning during the different seasons of your life. Lindsay says to customize it. The point is to make your day better, so if it's stressing you out that's not good. Lindsay says it is a mindset shift, just start small. You can literally start with 6 minutes a day.   Sunit says her hope is to inspire a new generation of moms and dads who are better prepared and thinking ahead about what kinds of kids they want to raise. She wants them to be more mindful and purposeful in their parenting and starting to think about this stuff very early on is much more effective than waiting until you are bowled over with kids. She asks Lindsay what is her hope for the future. “To elevate the consciousness of humanity, one morning at a time”. Lindsay wants her kids to grow up being more mindful, more creative. Make healthy choices. Affirm their strengths and those of others. Always learning. Have a heart for service. All of the components of the miracle morning are important to her and this is her hope for the next generation and the world.   Sunit tests herself and recaps the SAVERS.   You can buy the book on Amazon here.
