As we plow through the first year of TNA monthly pay per views, we have a contender for not only the worst show this season, but possibly the worst one that we've ever covered. It's TNA Destination X 2005, and bullshit is everywhere on this card, with each contest featuring outside interference, incompetent officiating, and not one, but two guys in masks who arrive to save the day. This was a tough watch. In the main event, Double J takes on DDP, effectively continuing their rivalry from the last year of WCW that we covered. This one is contested in a Ringside Revenge (not Lumberjack) Match. Elsewhere, we have an the Ultimate X Challenge for the belt featuring three matches in one. We got Abyss taking on Jeff Hardy once again, as well as Raven and The Lone Star Dustin Rhodes. Finally it appears as if the battle to become Dusty Rhodes' assistant will come to its conclusion as Trinity and Traci send their tag teams into action. This one was bad, and we really hope that things turn around or else this might be quite the chore moving forward.

On this episode, we review World Class episodes 7&8 from Season 2 on Peacock. This took place in February of 1983! The Main Event had The Von Erichs meeting The Freebirds in a nontitle match that was also a Lumberjack Match!  Big Red is back with us & he called these episodes "wrestlecrap worthy" so you know Pondwater Dave is loaded for bear !!

This week we see a 6 man tag with Money Inc and Mr. Hughes vs. The Nasties and Kamala, and two KOTR Qualifying matches. The real draw is the street fight between Shawn Michaels and Mr. Perfect that results in Fink's caddy being damaged, and the lumberjack match to follow.

This week, unfortunately we have on WWF due to audio issues, but we do have this week's Nitro which see's Kevin Nash face off against David Flair in a Lumberjack Match. Watch it with us!

We're back for the sixth and final WCW Uncensored as we move along through the final year of the company at a snail's pace. This was the lowest attended, least purchased, and overall biggest money pit of a Pay Per View in WCW's history, though the action is a slight improvement from the last couple flaming piles of garbage that we've reviewed.  This is the Taskmaster's last show with the book before a couple of familiar faces are reeled back in to reboot the product in a couple of weeks. But in the meantime, the gang's all here. Well, all except for the guys advertised on the flyer for the show.  We got Hulkster and Flair in a Yapapi Strap Match and Sting and Luger face off for the last time in a Lumberjack Match surrounded by guys with casts on their arms. Elsewhere, TAFKAPI defends his gold against a maskless Psychosis. This one gets borderline X Rated on the outside of the ring as their two managers go at it passionately. We got a falls count anywhere match that ends up spilling all the way to the bathrooms and The Wall continues to do the wrong thing, much to the chagrin of his mentor, Bam Bam Bigelow. Last but not least, in place of that mysterious door from SuperBrawl, we have a mysterious limousine outside for this one. Who's in there? Will we ever know? 2000 was a crazy time in the wrestling world. Mike Awesome defected to WCW, however he was still the ECW World Champion. Facing legal action from Paul Heyman, Mike Awesome had to appear at an ECW event and defend the ECW Championship against Tazz, who was working for WWF at the time! This was the one and only time a WWF Superstar wrestled a WCW wrestler at an ECW show. Tazz, now ECW Champion, showed up on SmackDown! and challenged the WWF Champion Triple H to a match! Speaking of Triple H, we are shortly removed from the night that Chris Jericho beat Triple H for the WWF Championship. Triple H bullied Earl Hebner to reverse the decision and Triple H regained his WWF Title. The Rock will challenge Triple H coming up at WWF Backlash and Linda McMahon appointed Stone Cold Steve Austin to be in The Rock's corner to help even the odds. Welcome back to Reading Wrestling, your encyclopedia on the art of pro wrestling. Today's entry takes us to a classic match format, the Lumberjack Match. When a feud comes to fever pitch and needs a resolution devoid of scurrilous escape attempts, there are a couple of options. One is the technology of the steel cage, which we spoke about in a previous episode. The other, more manual option, is the good ol' Lumberjack Match. For these special matches, the ring is  surrounded by a dozen or so other wrestlers, some of them bias, some of them brutal, some of them looking for a reason to dole out some punishment. Should a wrestler find themself outside the ring, voluntarily or not, they will meet with a swift form of Lumberjack justice. While, on the surface, the Lumberjacks are there to serve as an impartial, gentle reminder to stay in the ring, savvy wrestlers have thought to weaponize the flannel army by throwing their opponents out to be pummeled. Of course, it would be an oversimplification to think of the Lumberjacks as a cohesive, coordinated body. While they may engage in some collective pummeling, they are just as likely to turn on each other. Today, on Reading Wrestling, we'll try to keep our discussion as expansive as possible without getting outside the ring. We come at this topic from a number of different angles, including asking the question "why use lumberjacks and not a steel cage to keep the action in the ring?" We also discuss how the perceived value of this aging match type has changed over time. We conclude that, while the lumberjack match used to be an important way to showcase a range of wrestlers, it's become another mechanism for setting up high spots. We also discuss some memorable matches.

Rey & Dominik Mysterio dethroned Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode last night. They are the first father-son tag team champions in WWE history. Rey had to go it alone for much of this match...after Ziggler and Roode attacked Dominik backstage. But Dominik returned at the end and got the pin on Roode. That was the only title change last night. Roman Reigns choked out Cesaro to retain his Universal Championship. Seth Rollins showed up after the match to beat up on Cesaro. Bobby Lashley is still the WWE Champion. Drew McIntyre put Lashley through part of the stage set during the 3-Way Title Match. But Lashley emerged just in time to SPEAR Braun Strowman and pin him. Rhea Ripley dispatched Charlotte Flair long enough to hit Asuka with the Riptide and pin her to retain her Raw Women's Championship. Another Japanese promotion is dealing with COVID-19 concerns. Dragon Gate pulled Ben-K, Naruki Doi and Dragon Dia from shows over the weekend. Dragon Gate announced Ben-K and Dragon Dia were found to have slight fevers. Dragon Gate said it's awaiting test results on all three before allowing them to return to action. All this is happening in the middle of their King Of Gate tournament. It'll cost Doi at least one match. He was forced to forfeit his tournament match against Kota Minoura. The pro wrestling world is mourning an icon of Extreme Championship Wrestling. “New Jack” - Jerome Young - has died. A fearless, aggressive and controversial performer…New Jack is not easy to summarize. He was a constant during the peak of ECW”s national popularity. He was also involved in some of the most notorious incidents of pro wrestling's past quarter-century. New Jack rose to national fame in ECW during violent, weapons-filled matches. He won the ECW Tag Team Championship on three occasions. After the collapse of ECW, New Jack wrestled for another 20 years - including a brief run during the early years of TNA. New Jack died suddenly on Friday at his home in North Carolina. “New Jack” Jerome Young was 58. (STINGER: Impact) Impact presents Under Siege tonight. Rhea Ripley putting her Raw Women's Title on the line in a 3-Way against Charlotte Flair and Asuka. Rey & Dominik Mysterio go after the SmackDown Tag Titles held by Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. Plus, Damian Priest vs. The Miz in a Lumberjack Match. New champions were crowned on last night's SmackDown. Natalya and Tamina ended Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler's 104-day reign as WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. For Tamina, it's only the second time she's held championship gold. She had a seconds-long reign as 24/7 Champion. Roman Reigns interrupted last night's main event between Cesaro and Jimmy Uso. Jimmy was not happy with Reigns about that. Rey Mysterio used a small package to pin Dolph Ziggler. King Corbin reversed an armbar to pin Shinsuke Nakamura. After the match, Nakamura STOLE King Corbin's CROWN! (STINGER: New Japan) Team Filthy won an 8-Man Elimination Tag in the main event of last night's New Japan Strong. It was Chris Dickinson sealing the win for Team Filthy. After the match, Team Filthy TURNED on Dickinson. This is in retaliation for Dickinson publicly challenging Lawlor to defend the Strong Openweight Championship against him. Dickinson eliminated Clark Conners to seal the win. Conners is a Young Lion no more. He debuted new ring gear and his own entrance theme. By the way, Karl Fredericks was the one to eliminate Lawlor from the match. Also on last night's show, Fred Rosser & Lio Rush beat El Phantasmo & Hikuleo. Rush PINNED ELP. (STINGER: ROH) Ring Of Honor is bringing back its “Survival Of The Fittest” tournament. It was last held back in 2018. A series of matches will culminate in a multi-man elimination match, where the winner will get a shot at the ROH World Championship. The tournament will be shown on ROH TV starting next month. May 3rd, 1999: Now that Shane McMahon and The Undertaker have joined forces to create The Corporate Ministry, Mankind teams up with The Big Show, Ken Shamrock, and Test to form a Union of his own. However, Shane does not take too kindly to this new alliance, so he proceeds to schedule a bunch of matches which are slanted in The Corporate Ministry's favor. Not only that, but Shane challenges his father Vince McMahon to a match tonight.... but will the chairman accept? In our main event, WWF Champion "Stone Cold" Steve Austin faces The Rock in a Lumberjack Match, with The Corporate Ministry acting as lumberjacks. Mankind must compete in a hard-hitting Hardcore Handicap Match against The Acolytes. The Undertaker steps into the ring with The Big Show, which leads to one of the most awesomely brutal spots you'll ever see (hint: it involves a baseball bat). Ken Shamrock is ordered to face Triple-H..... in a match where Chyna is the special guest referee. We get a Four Corners Match: Test vs. The Big Boss Man vs. Mideon vs. Viscera (which is really more of a 3-on-1 Handicap Match). The recently-fired Pat Patterson & Gerald Brisco return to the ring against Mean Street Posse members Rodney & Pete Gas. Fresh off a heel turn on the pilot episode of "Smackdown," Billy Gunn does battle with his former DX stablemate X-Pac. WWF Women's Champion Sable is ordered to defend her title against Debra in an Evening Gown Match, but Sable may have other priorities instead.
