Welcome aboard this double-episode train ride, where we have brought some friends along for the ride to partake in a scenic route journey with several big stops along the way. In this first of two episodes, a show that was quite literally TOO BIG to just be one, our good friend Sketch joins us as we take a look at the state of anime production in 2021 (hint: it's not great), lament yet another film adaptation doomed for the pile of development hell, wonder when MAPPA will finally get some sleep when they're not preparing the world for Chainsaw Man (and not a certain movie), and even discuss the merits of the reasons for an immediately-cancelled manga's demise.Stick around for the second half of this double episode, where we finally sit down and discuss a little movie called MUGEN TRAIN. And most importantly, *WATCH ODDTAXI.* It's GOOD. And it won't let you down unlike a certain show that turned rotten. intro – WATCH ODDTAXI5:55 – let's talk about anime production in 2021 (re: Record of Ragnarok and Crunchyroll)30:09 – Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles game releasing in October35:57 – Azuki manga service has launched38:06 – Crunchyroll has “less censored” Demon Lord Omega episodes39:21 – So I'm a Spider episode 24 was indefinitely delayed42:37 – Saga of Tanya the Evil S2 confirmed45:07 – Magia Record S2 premiering July 31, S3 end of 202147:32 – Fruits Basket finale thoughts50:16 – Fruits Basket will continue with a new project54:27 – Made in Abyss live-action film in early development58:31 – GKIDS acquires The Deer King film (Production I.G.)59:31 – Eleven Arts acquires the “final” final Gintama film1:05:01 – a fifth Strike the Blood OVA is confirmed for… someone1:05:34 – takt;op set for the fall season1:11:28 – Chainsaw Man gets its PV and crew1:19:43 – Mari Okada's next film being helmed at MAPPA1:22:27 – where is Ice Adolescence? Madoka Magica is famous for its subversion of the Magical Girl genre. It explores themes of hope and despair, and delves a little deeper into these themes. It also had a sequel movie and a spin off gatcha game that's recently been adapted into an anime! The important time stamps: 33:24- Our discussion of the Madoka Magica Movie 1:00:40- Our discussion of Magia Record We discuss all three, why we love the original series, and whether the movie and spin off are improvements for the series or disappointing. Other topics discussed (spoiler warning): Is Kyubey Evil? Is this series a love letter to the Magical Girl genre, or is it an argument against the genre? Can selflessness actually be selfish? Did the Rebellion movie change the characterization of Homura, or was it consistent What would OUR spin off look like, or where else would we want the series to go? Imagine this: an anime that takes magical girls and puts them in a grim and depressing light in way to deconstruct and create a new twist on the genre. Yeah, that's not this show. That's Puella Magi Madoka Magika. This show is if someone copied Madoka's homework and ran in through Google Translate in a million different languages and then attempted to turn it in for the wrong class. In this episode of Animisery, Matt and Brad discuss Magical Girl Site: an anime for when you actually want to feel miserable. Find out all about the world's worst onii-san, the reason why Matt had to listen for his roommate's footsteps, and how not to end your anime all in this episode!

On today's show, Marc talks about their least favorite games, movies, and anime of 2018, what's the "worst" according to them, like Past Cure, The Meg, and Magical Girl Site. But before all that, Marc talks about what they've been playing and watching recently, including Rain World, Venom—which isn't one of the worst movies of the year—a handful of random VR games, and, of course, more Fairy Tail. Anyway, something-something awful and nothing like a delicious waffle, cheers and enjoy the anime-zing(ly terrible) show. Anyway, that's it and that's all folks. Bcom, Kat and Leo are back with the final half of their Spring 2018 anime season impressions. Things got pretty heated this episode at times, but not between the hosts themselves. There are just some anime that really bring out the ire of our hosts, and press all of our buttons. It seemed like almost all of those anime were in this second half of our impressions. Whether it was Doreiku and Magical Girl Site for Bcom, Hisone to Masotan and Comic Girls for Kat, or Devil’s Line and Bcom constantly editing the Google doc to annoy Leo, we all had to blow off some steam this episode. But that’s ok, because we made it through, and finally chose the top 10 anime that we’ll be covering this season…even if one of those choices left Bcom literally speechless…Recorded April 29, 2018.Timestamps:1:45 – Doreiku: The Animation (a.k.a “Slave District” or “23 Slaves and Me”) (Eps. 1-2)23:29 - Tada Never Falls in Love (Eps. 1-2)30:07 - Dances with the Dragons (Eps. 1-2)34:25 - Hisone to Masotan (Eps. 1-2)46:28 - Megalo Box (Eps. 1-3)56:00 - Comic Girls (Eps. 1-2)1:03:43 - Isekai Izakaya (Eps. 1-2)1:07:47 - Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku (Eps. 1-3)1:16:00 - Full Metal Panic!
