We go on a huge tangent from the usual format and talk about how weapons are handled in anime. In general, a show is either completely based on weapons (usually swords), or only has them sprinkled in. In general, it seems like ability-based feats are more revered than weapon-based anime - why is that? We tackle that today, as well as talk about the best ways different anime has utilized weapons and made them feel special. We list off some of our favorite ones, some lame ones, and get a bit of creative juices flowing while we try to picture what other weapons that could be more featured heavily in anime. This episode includes: Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball, Attack On Titan, Demon Slayer, Shield Hero, Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece, Soul Eater, Rurouni KenshinLinks to everything HERE!

It is episode nine of the Nerdcast Empire. Thank you all again for your continued support! This week's episode is a two-parter. Matt, Mike & Chris each spun the picker wheel of fate at the beginning of this anime season and each got a random show to review. This week, the guys each discuss the first two episodes of their random anime selection. In part two, it's time to show off our nerdiness. Each of us will take an anime quiz covering one of our favorite shows. Matt chose Rurouni Kenshin, Mike chose Black Clover and Chris chose JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. After those quizzes, the guys tried to take what proved to be a very difficult Dragonball quiz. How did the guys fare on these quizzes? Tune in to find out!
Join Izzy and Mox in this week's episode of "Not Actually Film Critics" as they dive headfirst into the world of video games and anime adaptations. With Gibbs and Zea away on family matters, it's just the dynamic duo this time around. First up, they explore the latest video game releases, including the highly anticipated "Bomb Rush Cyberfunk," "Armored Core 6," "Starfield," and the intriguing "Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty" trailer. Izzy and Mox discuss gaming trends and what developers can learn from the massive success of "Baldur's Gate 3." Be prepared for an in-depth, spoiler-free review of the game, complete with Izzy's favorite character declaration: "Lae'zel best girl." Next on the docket is the review of Netflix's live-action adaptation of "One Piece." Izzy and Mox question why some anime adaptations, like "Cowboy Bebop," seem to struggle while others shine. They also take a moment to compare the remake of "Rurouni Kenshin" to the original, diving into the nuances of the adaptation process. And of course, there's no shortage of entertainment as they wrap up the episode with a quick review and score for "Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem." Join us next week when the whole crew is back, and we return to our regular movie review program, diving into the world of fantasy with a review of "Dragonslayer" (1981). Don't miss it!
