Quarterfinal action is underway, with the real Carlos Alcaraz delivering a Wimbledon masterclass on Centre Court to dispatch Great Britain's Cam Norrie. Alcaraz will now face Taylor Fritz, who overcame a third-set stumble to defeat Karen Khachanov and reach his second Grand Slam semifinal in the last 12 months, climbing back to No. 4 in the live rankings. But is he too reliant on his canon of a serve? Meanwhile, electronic line-calling sparked more controversy when an errant ‘Fault!' call disrupted a crucial point, adding to a growing list of technological mishaps this fortnight. On the women's side, Aryna Sabalenka kept her quest for a maiden Wimbledon title alive with a dramatic, last-gasp win over grass-court specialist Laura Siegemund. Amanda Anisimova also booked her place in the semifinals — her first at a Grand Slam since 2019 — with a tense victory over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to continue her stellar season. Joel and Chris also look ahead to the second day of quarterfinals and get up to speed on all the fallout from the past 24 hours since Jannik Sinner and Grigor Dimitrov abruptly exited the court.BABOLATBabolat are an official partner of Wimbledon and their Wimbledon collaboration collection and Pure Drive (2025) is available to purchase now from babolat.com SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. This week, all three of the boys are back as we go through some of the crazy upsets from week one at the Championships and give our Quarterfinal predictions!
Day 8 delivered drama and breakthroughs at SW19. Join Joel and Kim as they wrap up the day's proceedings at Tennis Weekly HQ. Novak Djokovic clawed back from a 1–6 opening set to defeat Alex de Minaur in four, sustaining his run toward a record 25th Major. Jannik Sinner, despite trailing two sets, advanced after Grigor Dimitrov heartbreakingly retired with a pectoral injury—a win Sinner called bittersweet. Meanwhile, Ben Shelton and Italy's Flavio Cobolli secured their first-ever quarter-final spots with impressive victories over Lorenzo Sonego and Marin Čilić.On the women's side, Belinda Bencic made a strong post-maternity return by upsetting seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova, Mirra Andreeva became the youngest quarter-finalist since 2007 with a compelling win over Emma Navarro, and Iga Świątek continued cruising past a below-par Clara Tauson. Liudmila Samsonova also sent the young Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro packing in two tight sets. They also look ahead to the start of the Quarterfinal action on Day 9 which sees home hope Cameron Norrie take on the two time defending Champion Carlos Alcaraz on Centre Court, and Aryna Sabalenka up against tour veteran Laura Siegemund in the German's first Grand Slam singles QF.BABOLATBabolat are an official partner of Wimbledon and their Wimbledon collaboration collection and Pure Drive (2025) is available to purchase now from babolat.com SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. Before we get into the action, massive big up to everyone who showed up and showed out for us at Boxpark Croydon on Sunday (Day 7). We had a blast and it was a pleasure meeting you all. Ben “10” Shelton is through to his first Wimbledon quarter–final after a 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(1), 7-5 victory over Lorenzo Sonego. The head-to-head now reads 4-1 to the American. The 10th seed made a sluggish start and dropped his first set of the tournament to the Italian who he was facing for the third Grand Slam in a row. Shelton recovered well in the second set, winning it 6-1. At 1-1, Shelton held from 15-40 down and took over after that, breaking Sonego in the next game, then holding with ease before breaking the Italian again en route to securing it. The third set was a much tighter affair. The pair exchanged breaks at 3-3, then both held until 6-6. It was one-way traffic in the tiebreak with Shelton wrapping it up 7-1. The fourth set followed the third, both men were holding comfortably until Sonego, serving to stay in the match at 5-6, fumbled. Shelton hit a clean return winner at the start of the game and would eventually break the Italian for a fourth time to seal victory. Jannik Sinner or Grigor Dimitrov await in the last eight. In this podcast we speak about all the action on Day 7 at Wimbledon 2025. Alcaraz defeated Rublev in 4 sets and now will face Cam Norrie in the Quarter Final after he beat Jarry in 5 sets! Pavlyuchenkova defeated the Brit Sonay Kartal, but the talking point of the match was the electronic line calling not working for 3 points during a big game in the 1st set. Siegemund, Sabalenka and Anisimova all progressed, as did Fritz and Khachanov on the men's side. ❤️ SUBSCRIBE TO GTL: https://bit.ly/35JyOhz ▶️ JOIN YOUTUBE MEMBERSHIP: https://bit.ly/3Fk9rSr
5x All-Ireland winner with Cork, Doireann O'Sullivan joins Eoin to preview this weekend's ladies All-Ireland quarter-finals. Her own Rebel county take on old foes Dublin, which is the pick of the fixtures.
Lauren Harris joins James to preview The Women's European Championships that kick off in Switzerland tomorrow, and England's Lionesses will be among the favourites. But they haven't been helped by the draw and England are at risk of an early elimination should things go badly from a Group that also contains France, The Netherlands and Wales. The lopsided nature of the draw means Spain should breeze through to the Semi Finals and it does guarantee one of the lesser nations reach the final four. To get to that stage England won't have to just navigate their Group of Death, but also a likely Quarter Final against Sweden or Germany, the two sides England beat to lift this trophy three years ago. All 16 nations covered, best players to keep an eye on, England's likely line up for their opener on Saturday and there are two Fantasy formats on the tournament covered too.
